I still have not heard from the hotel, despite them gladly charging my credit card for my absentee night.

We rode bikes down to penny’s card shop and check out a bookstore and sent boxes of lavender products home to the East Coast.

$34 for two
very average Manhattan's and martinis seemed a little excessive, plus they wanted 
us to pay them, not charge to room nor table.

but since there was also a line for a tip, we did not know whether the server got the fee and thought perhaps it was a Covid related charge?

We had to use our second room number to charge to get the discount even if multiple purchase qualified for the discount.

They charged $13 for the balsamic that was supposed to be on our cheeseboard then forgot it and brought us a tiny dish.

One bummer is they give you very little firewood and then charge $10 for more.

A warning- the restaurant charges for bread, something I find annoying.

We provided a credit card and $100 in cash and said we planned to pay a total of $300.

- This week, starting Monday, we've left five messages with Los Poblanos staff, trying to get someone to explain a credit card charge.

My husband's juice was not even included, they billed us for that plus the tax for the "continental" breakfast.

but when you are holding yourself out as a luxury property and charging major coin,  you need to step it up.

but that at the price point they are charging guests should not have to stay in hot rooms.

but the hotel's unreasonable demand to still charge us a fee given our situation was just not right.

Cons: hard pillows, being presented with the breakfast bill when breakfast is included in the room rate ( clearly to solicit a gratuity- and uncommon practice for b&b type accommodations), no one to help with luggage, a very confusing final invoice system.

The waitress asked if we wanted sparkling water or plan--we had the sparkling water (no mention of charge) $9.

One surprise was the charge for a little extra firewood, odd.

The fee we were charged for the tour seemed excessive for what we actually saw.

I didn't understand this, especially from what was billed as a local business and functioning organic farm / inn.

Fantastic. .comfortable quiet rooms and beds, an adorable kitchen w earthy mugs, beautiful grounds, enjoyed great massages at the spa (wanted to stay in the post massage lounge forever), expertly made cocktails at the library, a well curated foodie heaven of a farm shop, fantastic brunch and dinner at Campos, visited the animals (alpacas, peacocks, chickens, a cat!)

The store onsite is not to be missed and be sure to walk the grounds, it's really lovely.

The location, grounds, room, and food are carefully curated to celebrate the debt we all owe to farmers and the great tradition of sustainable living.

The grounds were beautiful filled with fragrant lavender plants and beautiful plants.

Our room, as well as the grounds of the Farm were beautiful.

The grounds and ambience are outstanding.

Top 10 things here:  1) Impeccable Inn service, 2) world class food at the restaurant, 3) signature cocktails second to none, 4) Mouse - the friendly farm cat that you can invite into your room for a swig of cream out of your fridge and some loving on your couch, 5) the farm animals - sheep, alpaca and chickens, 6) close up viewing of Canadian geese and Sandhill cranes on the grounds, 7) the amazing flyovers by the geese, 8) Peacocks strutting their stuff, 9) Unique gifts at the farm shop, and 10) all the amazing products an food they make here that are available for purchase.

The lavender bath products are incredibly unique, and walking the grounds is great for all ages.

The exquisitely comfortable casitas, the welcoming bar and restaurant, the grounds with their secret garden feel, and the nightly fire circles are the details.

Beautiful peacocks and animals prance around the grounds.

All the small details are covered: comfortable bed sheets, fresh ground coffee with a french press and immaculate and quiet room.

The grounds are open with lavender fields and have many spaces just to sit.

The grounds are very cool, everything is Insta-worthy.

Every staff member I interacted with from Sean at the Front Desk to the baristas in the Farm Shop to every grounds keeper I passed was kind, welcoming, spoke highly of the Inn, and seemed to genuinely love their jobs.

The staff is welcoming and helpful, the grounds gorgeous.

I enjoyed the grounds which are private and beautiful with little secret gardens and patios here and there.

Yes, as godzillabird has just remarked, the prices keep going up, and as we have commented in an earlier review,  we very much miss the rooms in the Hacienda now that it’s been turned into a spa.

Los Poblanos has jacked up its room prices to the point the value is not there.

However, at this price point (especially for this area), the experience should have been much better.

Why the urgency to have me out of the room if I had paid for another day in full?

but didn't have THAT many amenities to account for the overall cost of the stay.

but for the price of our stay I would rather stay in the Crown Plaza.

Just really poor service and flow - especially for the price.

The wine list is very extensive, a bit pricey

Remember: the pictured room cost more than $400 per night.

but not worth the price, and some of the dessert was incredibly mediocre (the coconut macaroon tasted like it was bought from Kroger).

but an unexplained 20% bump-up of the cost left rather sour taste to our afternoon cuppa.

For us, this was a special occasion to stay somewhere as nice and expensive as this, unfortunately, the experience did not match the price.

but the service was slow and the meal was overwhelmingly underwhelming, particularly for the price.

but expensive and when we tried to light a romantic fire the smoke detector went off (it was NOT a windy night).

The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful (and stocked with their lavender products).

The lavender products produced by or for the farm are lovely and prices are in range for a gift shop.

The shower had amazing water pressure and lovely complimentary lavender shower products.

The bathroom is stocked with the lavender products that are made on the farm.

There was a standalone bath tub in the large bathroom outfitted of course with the Los Poblanos Farm Shop products!

As for the rooms, no details are overlooked, the beds are amazingly comfortable, and the farms line of lavender infused products are provided in the bathrooms for their guests to try.

This is a working lavender farm and they provide lavender products in their soaps and shower products.

They have a farm store where you can buy their products and other tasteful items.

Product selection has expanded as has the shop facility.

Great Experience

We looked through the their farm shop which featured their farm produced foods, Full selection of Lavender that is grown there and gifts that were crafed from products on the farm.

but the best are the lavender products made from the crops on the farm.

There is a wonderful shop which sells lavender products.

We loved, been inspired by their organic products and designs.

The lavender bath products, made from their own plants, are divine.

We shopped in The Farm Shop (amazing lavender products).

The farm shop was fabulous and well worth a visit.

It has all the amities you could want including a spa, shop, restaurant a very nice saltwater pool.

Farm shop has a wide selection of lavender and other types of gifts.

So much more to say… the farm shop is incredible.

The farm shop is one of the most wonderful shops to browse - especially for holiday gifts.

We had wonderful massages, spent time at the pool, shopped at the farm shop, and ate and ate and ate.

Great stay, lovely low key place, exceptional food at Campo for both dinner and brunch, good pool, fun farm shop and great thoughtful staff, thank you we had a blast wandering the farm and the bikes were a big hit and so easy to sign out.

The farm shop is cute and had lots of goodies.

This place is popular and there are a lot of day visitors to their farm shop and Campo restaurant.

A historic dairy farm now reinvented to a B&B, farm shop, bar and restaurant with amazing Mountain views. We purchased some lovely items at the farm shop (could’ve bought more!)

The historic buildings are gorgeous and worth walking around (don't miss the library and ballroom) and the farm shop - beautifully done.

The shop is equally a delight complete with an excellent coffee and bakery bar.

The grounds and history of the property are steeped in tradition, the entire staff from desk, to housekeeping, shops, chefs, wait staff and tour guides are beyond reproach.

The only gripes, corridors are very dark and gloomy and the breakfast could be a bit more extensive otherwise great including the staff! !

What let the whole experience down is that as soon as it was dark outside, we could hardly see inside the room.

The rooms are cosy with bare concrete walls and the mood lighting was dark and claustrophobic.

I found it really a bit too dark and while big, there wasn't enough usable space.

It was ideal for me; maybe a little dark for some.

Unfortunately rooms are very very dark, ok if you are young.

Really cool hotel, the idea is to 'get lost' and loose yourself to find yourself - chirping birds in the corridors, dark dimly lit rooms.

Hotel is very convoluted and dark inside making it difficult to find your way around in.

- the rooms on level one and two are pretty much the dungeon- do not stay in the cosy atrium room if you suffer from Ptsd or claustrophobia, the rooms are dark and there is NO natural lighting or air.

Very dark and not well lit, especially in the lift and car park.

The overall vibe of the place is very dark which makes it feel quite dingy & very uninviting.

It was dark..some interior designer’s  idea of what people want?

Rooms are dark and moody, art instillations in the bar and currently a vegetarian menu in the restaurant.

We got to our room to find what seems to be common in the reviews, a dark room, which you need to use your phone light to find the light switches.

My favourite hotel in Canberra 
A very artistic and funky hotel, rooms are super quiet 
Close to everything in town if you’re walking, we walked to restaurants within 15min.

The general vibe was great, like a good cafe/bar rather than a hotel and the quirky design still looks great 9 years on.

The hotel is arty & everything was done quite well except for the Room Lighting.

The environment in the hotel was mediocre; service was the lowest of all.

A place that is beautiful, that has spectacular service, incredible food, including that food being the room service menu and an  ambience that the best hotels in the world could take a page from their book of just how good this hotel does at being good.

I’m a young person and I stay in a lot of funky hotels

Firstly loved the look of the hotel and the ambience was lovely .

reflective of the overall vibe of our hotel apartment i suppose.

Otherwise a great, funky hotel, we would definitely stay again.

The Ovolo Nishi promotes itself as being in the Japanese style of hotel.

We loved all the new,different and quirky things about this hotel.

We observed the unique/quirky wood decor everywhere in the hotel, cool I guess.

The good stuff is the staff are attentive, the Hotel design is different in a very cool way, the evening vegetarian selections in Monster Bar and Grill are very good, room comfort is great although our room was below ground level and a bit dungeon like

but the lighting is really bad and after 3 nights it has become really oppressive.

Their red light on the ceiling was a true illuminating all night feature and the lighting in general was very subdued, kind of melancholic.

We resorted to using our phone light to adjust air-conditioning & see the rest of our possessions.

We initially booked an atrium room, it was small claustrophobic and looked into a darken atrium with absolutely no sun light 
We asked to be transferred to a sunny room that faced due west and the aircon struggled to cope
This was also a small claustrophobic room
To top it off they charged a 2.7% credit card fee way above their costs and unacceptable in this cashless age
WE WILL NOT RETURN

The internal lobby/ bar/ dinning areas are concrete that is being disguised with some wooden fittings, poor lighting & a lot of retro furniture.

The lighting was good (although a bit too “moody” in places – dimness is not so good for older eyes) and I thought it was a great idea to have a modest light which stayed on all night under the alcove in the bathroom.

But one does need a choice of lighting  imo.

The only small negative for us was the minimal lighting in the room .

If you like spending $500 per night on an underground room with dungeon-like interiors that mess with your psyche, no additional lighting options, pillows like rocks (also with no options), no robes,  black corridors with last night's trays, uncollected, creating trip hazards for any age, very small in size, cheap breakfast with no bacon, loose bathroom fittings, dirty bed throws, small window at ground level, open for "fresh air and bugs fresh from the atrium garden", black ceilings, concrete walls, black curtains, minimal diffused lighting, and if you enjoy crawling on all-fours in the darkness to find the power point to use the iron, come along to Ovolo.

but customer comfort would suggest a little more light at night and in the lifts.

Like with lights off I did not know if it was day or night outside.

turn some lights on, lose the attitude and bring back some
meat options for those that don't wish to have cheese added to every dish to make it palatable.

It was quite noisy being located in between 2 sets of traffic lights.

The atrium was outside the tiny window, with the soil and plants at window level, so the room felt like it was below ground, there was no light in the atrium, as it was blocked by a tall building on the other side other atrium, so the whole tiny cell (oops..I mean room), below ground in darkness with concrete walls and ceilings gave it the ambience of of a bunker.

My room was luxurious and comfortable  with all the features and amenities you’d expect from a modern hotel and more.

The decor is like nothing I’ve seen before, so trendy modern and elegant.

Everything very nicely done (in a 'funky' modern style).

The vegetarian menu is contemporary and fresh.

Your Woke and contemporary take on a modern hotel with artworks that force the political agenda of the outspoken minority should be more honest with all guests.

The rooms are very modern and nice, the staff were super friendly and the food there was delicious too!

Loved the relaxed ambience and contemporary style.

Our room is always amazing and its artistic decors are something different from the usual modern hotels.

Such a surprise to find a cosmopolitan hotel in the middle of Canberra.

Very nice modern hotel that has great deals and hence attracts a good crowd and there is a nice positive buzz in the air.

The hotel room was much like the compact rooms you find in Tokyo or Osaka modern hotels.

The room was a great size, modern and very clean.

We recently met friends for a drink and meal, we were very impressed with the hotel, excellent service from the staff, very attentive, great food, very tasty, loved the location of the Hotel, close to the city, very modern architecture, impressive entry with all the wood

A modern, stylish and slightly posh boutique hotel 15mins walk away to the shopping district of Bunda Street.

The room was very funky, modern and didn’t disappoint, the share menu and quality of food in the Monster kitchen and bar restaurant was perfect for us!

Thoroughly enjoyed the contemporary design and luxurious bathroom.

The hotel is modern, fresh and very welcoming.

This is just nit acceptable in a hotel that claims to offer a 5 star product.

Beautiful and comfortable furnishings, and the Aesop bathroom products are a real treat.

I had the best room service cremè brûlée ever and loved the Aesop products in the bathroom.

The bathrooms are probably the best that I've been in (although could do with more lighting) and the aesop products are a nice touch.

Aesops products in the bathroom was impressive as wass the organic produce in the mini fridge.

Lovely touches like Aesop products, get it d quality mini bar.

Comfortable beds, great showers and Aesop products in the bathroom all made for a touch of luxury and the Monster kitchen and bar had the usual great range of food and drinks.

Bathroom is very nice with heated floor, shower options and generous quantities of quality products for showering and shampooing.

If you want to feel pampered and taken care of this is worth it.

A particularly nice touch was the use of Aesop products across the board.

Amazing ambience, eclectically constructed, very relaxing, cozy, delicious food, lovely rooms, love the Aesop product and comfy beds.

Busy work trip to Canberra, great food, interesting spaces everywhere you look, warmth, relaxing rooms, great shower with Aesop products!!

A beautiful selection of herbal teas, great Aesop bathroom products, and a Bose bluetooth sound link.

The room has such a nice decor, comes with an iPad, Aesop products in the bathroom, remote controlled blinds, dim lights in the bathroom, waterfall shower, concrete wall on one end, recycled wood on the other,  

Monster Bar and Kitchen downstairs serves beautiful food, albeit expensive and small portions.

Could hear outside traffic as the hotel backs onto a busy road.

The corridors even had bird sounds playing creating a calm atmosphere.

Then TV sound seems like it is going, the TV is on the blink,  as I know its not my ears.

Whilst we could hear road noise in the day and early morning it was not enough to keep you awake

We stayed in a lake view apartment which also overlooks the highway and is very noisy.

Rooms have thin walls so I was kept awake by people talking in the next room late into the night.

The corridors are super dark with piped bird sounds.

the staff at the small and noisy desk need a giant reality check - rude and quite abrasive attitude amused us - did they think they were in soho perhaps?

We tried to put some white noise on through the speaker next to the bed so that we could drown out the noise of the traffic,

I stayed in a sun room and the noise from the road was very loud and obvious.

The worst aspect of the hotel was the traffic noise from 600 am to 830 am from the peak hour freeway traffic just beside the hotel.

I would definitely advise requesting a room away from the side road as we were woken up very early by really loud garbage trucks due to our room being so close to the road.

The constant reminder of how good my hair smells right now is not enough.

Our Room was lovely over looking Lake Burley Griffin with a view of Parliament House, what we didn't expect was a hot & Stuffy room with no AC, we were informed that they were trying to be environmentally friendly, our weekend stay temps were above 30 degrees , if you opened the balcony door the only  entrance of air , you were drowned in Traffic noise.

but the windows are double glazed so minimal road noise.

The ambience of being in constant darkness was lost on us.

Even if you are not chosen to be the “Star” guest, the free welcome drinks, lolly bar, mini bar in room and breakfast are all incredible touches to a wonderful stay.

The rooms are super comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches.

Nice ambiance and lots of artistic touches throughout.

The entire place well designed and has nice touches like Apple Tv, Alexa and free minibar.

The complimentary mini bar and snacks are a nice and welcome touch.

The goodie bag with beer, wine and snacks is a nice touch.

Excellent breakfasts and social hour in the afternoons was a nice touch.

It was a nice touch to have them provide a lovely latte upon check-out.

Obviously with COVID it wasn't self-service, so it was a nice touch to be given individual servings.

The presence of Alexa (instead of the usual portable speaker) is a fun, quirky touch.

The service was fantastic and the free mini bar was a nice touch.

There were nice touches like goody bags and a free mini bar and room service was quick and tasty.

The free mini bar and little treat pack was a nice touch, and I always love a good quality robe and slippers.

The beds are soft and there are plentiful of pillows to accompany you on your lush sleep, modern touches to the switches and the complimentary minibar service only makes it better.

really funky and earthy and sustainable, lovely touches including the 'loot bag'.

The room was very good and the modern touches were great.

Loved the little touches like the art books in the lobby and strawberry-infused water.
