That selection compromised our visits to Bilbao’s Attractions, besides -of course- for a programmed evening at ”Azurmendi” and our mandatory visit to none other than Bilbao’s Guggenheim -both- highlights in our Gastrotour.

A larger bread selection could have been offered.

Jose , Montse and Ibai who run the place are so friendly and professional .

Even getting into Nagusi itself was kind-of hard, until we were friendly received by its owners; Jose and his dear wife.

The Nagusi, which means the main one, is a very pleasant small hotel run by an extremely friendly Basque called José ,who also speaks very good English.

This was our 2nd visit to this friendly hotel, conveniently placed ( about 1 hour drive ) on our way home via Brittany Ferries Bilbao to Portsmouth  route.

The welcome was warm and friendly (in good English) and our room was very clean and comfortable with Air conditioning.

The accommodation is in need of a bit of refurbishment

It would need a bit of a refurbishment to be a top little property.

It is family run, clean, accommodating and convenient to Victoria, Spain, a wonderful city to visit , You cannot go wrong!

Run by a young team who work hard to make your stay enjoyable this hotel is great for value and food for an overnight stop.

The staff is pleasant and very attentive to your needs.

How well they catered for my individual needs, really helpful and kind.

The staff is excellent and they are ready to go the extra mile to help and that is something you do not see everywhere.

This consisted of 4 small dishes and a dessert with wine and water included also.

There wasn’t a big window to open, so no ventilation was possible as the sky light didn’t stay open.

Very friendly manager who could not do enough for us, speaks very good English too.

but the very kind lady on duty came out and met us to show the way.

She got us a beer and we sat outside listening to the cow bells.

Kettle and variety of teas in the room; excellent 3-course dinner with wine and coffee included for €18 each (plus tax); extremely quiet environment; and the lady who received us, cooked etc could not have been more helpful.

We both had peas and ham, which turned out to be a big soup plate piled high with peas in a bit of liquid with a few bits of ham scattered in it.

We have recently returned from this caserio having booked it out for our wedding.

The Bedrooms are up a floor and there are no lifts

but one of the rooms are on the first floor and there is no lift.

Inside, the accomodation is up another floor, no lifts.

There is no lift and the Bedrooms are up a floor so that with the steps up from the Car Park does make a trek and should be born in mind if any disabilities have to be taken into account.

It turned out that all the rooms are on the first floor and there is no lift.

Great place to stay, friendly staff, good food and right on the main road, yet quiet.

The restaurant prices were excellent and the service friendly.

We paid €100 for one night and for that we got a very tired looking room, it was a non smoking room that smelt terrible of stale smoke, cracks in the ceiling, two blankets that I would have thrown away long ago, black mould in the shower, cracked floor tiles to name a few.

but are becoming tired with deteriorating floor tiles, and ash trays in the "No Smoking" rooms ?

but not sure if any rooms are non smoking only.

The staff are even less communicative, the Breakfast minimal and the Restaurant now barely acceptable.

Best feature was the bathroom, which had a nice shower with excellent pressure which was welcomed after a drive from the costas.

The Restaurant is so much better than it was with a simplified menu and cheerful staff, the food cooked and presented well.

It was much newer than the cosy authentic hotel we remembered from our southbound journey in a February in the past and whilst the main reception and restaurant area were warm on entry, the room was freezing cold.

The bed linen and towels were changed regularly.The proprietor and cleaning lady were both very friendly and helpful.The train station was less than a five minute walk away if for instance you wanted to go into Bilbao.

There was a common room in the hostal as well and the lady left water, coffee, cakes and fruit which was very nice.Close to the hostal there were numerous bars and restaurants.All in all we had a very nice stay.
