Especially good is breakfast, which is one of the best we tried.

The room and bathroom is lovely , upscale, smartly decorated, with a comfortable bed, fabulous in every way with a nice sofa and desk

The breakfast was buffet style, varied and plentiful.

The breakfast has everything you could want and more and I would highly recommend getting it included.

Final thing I must mention is the breakfast - absolutely the best hotel breakfast I have ever had by far.

While it is a historic building built in 1925 with all the charm that goes along with grand hotels of that era it offers modern rooms with all the amenities you would expect from a grand hotel.

Staff at breakfast is really slow, so be ready to wait for a long time for your order and drink cold coffee.

Only reason for only 4 stars was the slow service for breakfast.

although the service was slow on the a la carte menu and they got a few of our orders wrong.

One slight grumble, the Wi-Fi which was included was a bit slow (5-6MB) and unprotected.

The only downsides - the drain in the shower was very slow, so the shower started filling up, and there is no self-service coffee/tea in the room.

The restaurant Zinfandel's is an absolute must to visit including the G&T from the bar made of Croatian Gin.

The bar was decent and cocktails reasonably priced.

The bar and restaurant personnel were top notch.

No one checked on us and we were right beside the bar at a table.

And the bar is like stepping back in time to a by gone era

although you would expect it to)  or at the more casual Le Bistro or outside on the Oleander Terrace and you can have a drink at the bar.

I had some wine in the bar; the wine, complimentary snacks and service was good.

The bar staff were friendly and provided a great service.

Locals like to celebrate their birthdays and weddings here and therefore it is a lively place, it is nice to have a drink in the bar.

First there was the bar, beautiful with great service and superb cocktails.

The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping to the bar and bistro to the concierge to the Spa, all were only too happy to be helpful and share their hotel and their city with us. A welcome change from US-corporate-chain hotels, we felt like valued guests in a (large!)

The Bar was also enjoyable, we had some Gin Tonics as the menu shows some 20 different of them (and I really LOVE G&T).

The bar is large and offers a huge gin menu for GT lovers.

I love food at the hotel and service at the bar.

but enjoyed the attentive but unobtrusive service, the clean and well appointed room, excellent brunch on the large, shaded patio and delectable wine in the evening at the bar.

Plus, the bar is a great place to unwind after a day of touring.

There is also a cheeky minibar under the telly with 2 bottles of Heineken that’s cheaper than in the bar downstairs.

The Esplanade was a bit like a museum in the best sense of the word.

The hotel was full so the best they could offer was combining the beds which is surprising given we arrived at around 4.30pm and it is clear they prioritise their weddings and local groups above their international guests.

The best hotel I have ever seen ( and I have studied hostpitality, worked in the industry and seen many 5 star hotels) .

This is just a grand hotel in the best European tradition.

Esplanade, very rich of history , every part of the hotel has a story, excellent service excellent staff very friendly staff, restaurants serving the best food in Zagreb.

The breakfast was perfect - amongst the 5* properties in Croatia, probably the best one I have tasted.

Of a side note, the breakfast here is by far one of the best hotel breakfasts I have had in the world.

Breakfast was one of the best I've experienced in any hotel- the buffet is high quality and varied, with fresh orange juice made to order, Croatian sparking wine and  a varied selection of a la carte dishes.

Before arriving at the Esplanade a Croatian gentleman had told me that this was the best hotel in Croatia, and he was absolutely right.

The staff was very helpful and attentive and the breakfast buffet was one the best we had in all of Croatia.

Our hotel was the Esplanade Hotel which is one of the best in the city.

Overall perhaps the best hotel in Zagreb and perfect oasis for relaxing like they did in the 1920's.

The City centre is a short walk in the other direction, so ideal for seeing the main sights.

The hotel bar/restaurant had a terrific selection of whiskeys and the decor was lovely.

Used to be  a trendy hotel, and to be honest, it has something,

but the old-world charm is only too evident & the Cafe & Restaurant exudes a classical era of ease & privilege when dining.

It is refreshing to be in a hotel that maintains its own personality and charm instead of the cookie cutter chains.

Next time we visit Zagreb we will certainly stay in the hotel which had an art nouveau style to the decor that was very charming.

The Palace is a stylish echo of a bygone age where friendly and courteous service is offered as the norm in a traditional Austro-Hungarian setting.

While the hotel is traditionally elegant, the rooms have been refurbished and provide all modern amenities that a guests could expect.

This hotel reminds me of the Plaza in New York City with its old-world charm.

It is a grand old European style hotel with an elegant feel.

Very nice room and if I recall a nice evening meal too in quite a sumptuous dining room.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the hotel restaurant.

Huge selection, of any type of food you like to eat.

I dined in the restaurant and had a cottage cheese specialty, asian salad and local bottled beer.

Most importantly the service while we dined was excellent.

The breakfast was awesome - a large selection of foods from the buffet made it really easy for someone with special dietary requirements.

In the following days, the hotel sort of "redeemed" itself through the excellent service provided us by the reception staff, restaurant waitstaff and housekeeping.

The restaurant offers a good range of traditional and local offerings in a tasteful setting.

The room service I have to give credit we ordered some very nice meals from room service and arrived hot so credit is due there - the kitchens are orgainsed and the food is of a standard.

The room was small and a bit dated (felt a bit like the 1990s in Eastern Europe)

The rooms were rather small and the furniture was not fancy

Also, even by European standards, the rooms are quite small.

On the negative side, the rooms are a bit small and you have to pay five euros per day to get a kettle to make tea, and coffee in your room.

It has a large restaurant open to the public and a breakfast buffet, that is well attended by staff.

Ideally located at the main square, the hotel was really nice choice for my purpose - beginning of Christmas market in front of it was an added bonus.

Location could not be better for xmas markets, walking distance to all main sites.

Terrific location within walking distance of market, restaurants and shops.

Literally across yhe square from the main food markets and then up the hill to the old town.

Don't forget to sample the fresh fruit at the market.

Dulac market is just opposite .. Upper town walking distance.

And, with the Dolac Market so close, we thought it odd to serve bowls of tinned fruit

It is located in the centre of town next to the main square, within walking distance of all of the attractions, the markets, shopping, bars and restaurants.

Hope to be back at this hotel in December for the Christmas markets.

This pretty Hotel is so central located - just a few minutes and you are at the market and all the Historic places!

It's a no traffic stret and during Christmas it has a Christmas Market just in front.

We went for the Christmas market and it sure was Christmasy it snowed while we were there and the hotel was cosy warm then when we opened our window we could smell mulled wine and hear Carol singers!

I liked that we could go out to the different markets and we were never that far from the hotel.

Stayed a night here and was extremely impressed, very large modern hotel in the centre of Zagreb.

It is a clean hotel with modern parts cobbled onto a non-modern sensibility.

Rooms were modern and clean and the staff knowledgeable and really helpful.

Hotel rooms are in a new construction building, very modern contemporary styling.

My stay at Hotel Dubrovnik was great my room was very spacious and modern.

The rooms are more modern than I expected, the bathrooms are really what needs an update

The foyer of the hotel is a little confusing as it is a mixture of modern and old, with the modern not being done that well.

This is a big hotel, quite modern, which hosts business people, some tour groups, and tourists.

We had booked Deluxe King Rooms which were a very good size, immaculately clean and tastefully decorated in a modern style.

It looks modern on the outside with a large and tall almost all glass facade.

Such poor attitude or behavior reflects negatively on the image of your establishment which deserves its 4* rating!! !

Some pieces of furniture have scratches, the breakfast is average and the gym is very poor.

The set meal for groups is not so good, desserts were poor, mixed fruit one night and a piece of apple strudel the next.

The one disappointment was the food - breakfast was of limited choice and the buffet on arrival of the group was in our opinion poor.

She gave us poor directions in a poor English to hail One.

but, perhaps because I have spent extensive time in SEAsia the poor chinese fellow was perfectly understandable.
