It has been a mixed bag in terms of stays with some exceeding expectations on certain fronts while falling short on others.

It may also be a good idea for the hotel to invest in a back-up generator, inverter (like a battery for a few hours’ worth of electricity), or solar solution in the case of power outages.

Located just adjacent to the Zagora palmerie, the riad offers a beautiful pool, a huge garden with grass and shade and 11  very comfortable rooms.

The hotel is small and located on a quiet street outside of Zagora.

The Riad can be found in a quiet location on the south side of Zagora in the Palmeria.

But do yourself a favor don't you dare to order dinner is you don't like vomiting and soft stool for hours.

but one has to order them at least 1 hr before.

Nice and clean rooms, perfect sanitary facilities (important in the desert) and a very tasty kitchen!

This place hits all the high marks: a spotlessly clean room with a comfortable bed topped with duvet style, high thread count bed linen, shower with even water temperature and pressure (but usual slow draining), excellent staff, a treasure trove of antique decor items tucked into architecturally ornate lounging, drinking and dining areas, best wifi on our trip so far and finally, a large and tasty breakfast.

The rooms are very clean and warm and make sure to eat one night in the Riad, to eat the wonderful tagine with figs.

We spent a lovely time at Ma Villa, The tastefully decorated riad , displaying a mix of modern art and authentic Moroccan furnishings, with its terraces and garden is just beautiful and cozy.

Ma Villa au Sahara in Zagora offers a unique style of accommodation that can be likened to staying in a desert villa with a touch of Gallic influence.

We loved all the artwork, furniture and little interesting touches.

The garden and rooms at the villa are filled with a lovely pool, plants, art and books.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming.

The whole staff is very welcoming and the room was very clean and comfortable with hot shower and wifi, the traditional building architecture makes for a very healthy stay as well.

The Villa Zagora felt immediately like home: the modern twist to a traditional architecture and the use of local building techniques, makes for a very cosy feeling.

Due to our health problems our trip practically ended in the morning on 4 Nov. (instead of 6 Nov. in the evening), as we could not visited several cities as planned and could not see numerous attractions, the beautifull Mosque Hassa II in Casablanca among others.

Zagora is the last bigger city, before the road goes into the desert.

we complained and got a replacement chocolat mouse which was do-able.

The staff, especially their female boss has a very good eye for childrens needs, for example we were given a different plate of pancakes after they saw that our kids didn't like the chocolate sauce without even having to ask for it, again without any extra charge.

The Draa Valley is beautiful and is en route to the dunes of Erg Chegaga.

After a 7 hour motorcycle ride through the heat of the desert .

But maybe the heat and the sandstorm will be just the one reason to remember Zagora forever!

but the range was sketchy and ultimately only accessible near the registration desk.

but could do so much better - the pool was a little dirty, the pool chairs were accessed by climbing over a low fence, and again, weren't that clean.

Charming  Riad in the middle of a date oasis beautifully decorated in the traditional Berber style.

Our room (suite Keita) was huge and attractively decorated.

Small pool, lots of cozy sitting areas, nice bar area-alcohol served, comfortable outdoor dining room and good food.

It was so relaxing we did not go and explore Zagora, we ate in and the food was delicious. I loved the way this place has been decorated, lots of recycled items (check out the adjoining Africa complex, its a trip!)

As a world traveler, I can recommend this hotel as one of the most special places I have stayed in.

There is no  TV  in the room, amenities consisted  of 2 small soaps and  satchets of shampoo.

No cutlery was provied with the main course, etc.

In the morning, breakfast (self service) was cold (everything is left on a table) and we had to ask several time that they bring plates and cups and refill the thermos of tea and coffee.

His English is good enough to tell you all about the habits in the Oasis, the Draa valley, history and construction of the kashbas.

Knowing the story of this Riad construction was very interesting and people were always nice, helpful, the food was delicious, from the pastilla to the fresk and diverse breakfast on the terrasse.

but if you want customers to your traditional style guest house in cold weather you need to be a bit more geared up.

however was appalling - dark, shabby and the shower/toilet .

However, it is worth using this charming guest house as a hub and taking a few days to discover the stunning Draa Valley.

We were able to walk to the river through the gardens in amongst the date tree forest which spans the Draa Valley for sunset and climb the big hill/mountain for sunrise.

Even if it is classified as a hotel, it is not, as it does not offer the service of a hotel.

The terrace offers wonderful views to the palmery and main street, the only downfall are the flies, so annoying when you trying to soak in the sun :-).

The rooms were clean, comfortable and air conditioned, and the pool and the upstairs patio and dinners made the experience all the more enjoyable!

but the ambience of the colourful floral bouquets took away the stress of the day.

The rooms are invitingly decorated in Berber style with vividly painted walls, nomad carpets, tiles  and interesting light fixtures.

In summary, the comfortable rooms with their spacious bathrooms, the cheerful service, overall aesthetic and decent prices, Auberge Restaurant Chez Ali  is excellent value for the money.

The hotel and gardens are so lovely with all kinds of artistic beauty and natural flare.

The best aspect of this hotel was the garden, it has a large nomad style tent and has a very relaxed atmosphere.

My room (#16 garden) had lots of attention to detail-- long full chocolate drapes puddling on the floor with tasteful beaded trim with an embroidered sheer overlay hanging on handmade rods which match the romantic scrolled metalwork of the double bed. The linens were fresh and clean and covered in a beautiful coverlet woven in a range of orange hues which coordinate nicely with the terra cotta colored tiles and the amazingly beautiful Tadelakt walls (moroccon wall treatment originally used in Hammams; waterproof lime plaster mixed w pigments and polished w a stone to give it a smooth lustrous finish-- absolutely beautiful!)

Nice breakfast served in the lovely garden with orange trees and bougainvilleas in all colours – and a fresh rose on the table every morning.

We had in a colourful, comfortable ensuite, reasonably priced in comparison to other hotels we stayed in; the balcony overlooked a jewel of a garden- bougainvillaea in all colors and a  bright pool in the distance.

The garden and pool are beautiful and offer a great environment to relax, read and feel at home.

Having visited another hotel in the town and not feeling the best vibe we made our way to Jardin Ali to check it out.

This guest house is beautifully decorated with comfortable rooms.

The calm ambience of this auberge was perfect after Marrakesh.

From that point forward, we were made to feel as if we were at home away from home.

Everytime i visit Chez Ali it is always a great place that make me relaxe, awesome garden and wonderful person you feel yourself in your own home,thank you so much and until next time keep going.

Another of our pitstops on our raids, known the place and owners for many years since it was built, best hosp[itality and a home feeling experience, there gardens are just a paradise in the doors to the Sahara.

This is what I feel chez ali has fallen prey to.

but if you like to tour but would like a driver I feel sure they would quote you a fair price.

We stayed 28 days, we just couldn't leave so good we felt!

We drove to M’Hamid and a 4x4 from the opposite direction flashed his lights to us, turned his car and started to follow us.

The walls are contrasted by the crisp white  ceiling set off by the crown molding and accentuated by the metalwork sconces, mosaic lighting features, and the carved wood mirror.

No lights or drums to ruin the desert experience.

The cleanliness of my room and the congeniality of the hosts made this a memorable experience.

You can tell by the attention to detail, from the colourful tiles, Berber carpets throughout, and the meticulously clean rooms, that it’s a family run business.
