The buffet was great at breakfast time as this was included in our stay.

Breakfast on 2nd floor is ok (club loubge on 8F wasn’t open for bf at that time).

The hotel is so well located with a fabulous little  restaurant called CBD across the road and literary around the corner is the famous Bar street where you can walk and choose whatever you're in the mood for.

The good of the hotel really outweighed the bad and I would stay here again largely because of the location, restaurants and pool.

The location is close to the crane sanctuary, Greg's restaurant, and the ferry to Gulangyu Island.

The hotel is located in a quiet residential district next to a lake and around 15 minute walk to the Bay Garden public park (by the sea).

Location is a short drive from the airport as well as the centre.

Sometimes, language level of the receptionist or room service operator I speak to is excellent, and at other times I find it easier to revert to my poor Chinese in order to communicate rather basic messages.

The biggest disaapointment was that there was poor internet connection (or no connection at all) during my 3 night stay.

This left a bad feeling for us on our final night and I would not dine at the hotel or bar as a result of this poor service.

I was in a rush and they managed to get my shoes polished in 30 mins for evening out to dinner (at restaurant in hotel); fantastic concierge service and really impressed.

Our family is allergic to chillis and we find that the culture in Xiamen likes to have chillis in their meals.

The lounge has excellent food options and very good service.

We were welcomed by English speaking staff (not all) and Corina did a great job helping us with upgrading, changing rooms and then changing again until we were 100% happy with all the amenities at our finger tips.

The French GM was very kind to give me a nice cabana rooms by the pool as I like to go swimming first thing in the morning.

I had an issue with the room - the hotel happily changed my room and upgraded me.

Rooms are large and incredibly comfortable and WiFi is very fast.

The common areas were pretty spacious with the lobby area extending into an atrium that most of the rooms were around.

I stayed in the best room for 4 days and it was such a let down compared to the Hilton hotel or other hotels in the price point.

I had a very good stay at Marco Polo Xiamen, the hotel room is very well appointed with good amenities.

Room was comfortable for Continental level guest.

The staff were all exceptional and helpful, the hotel lobby and room were very nice and it was the best hotel shower we've had in a long time.

Staff kindly put me on club floor, decent size exec room and well appointed as per standard with bath and shower.

If you need to work and don’t want to be stuck in your room this lounge is a nice alternative.

The room is clean and tidy with free wi-fi.

Their speed of service for basic requirements was extremely slow.

Only 2 clerks/desks open for check-in and out, slow procedure and through new security system it is not possible to check in on the Continental floor!

The service at the lounge is a little bit slow and not so much adequate,

We also tried the Japanese and Chinese restaurant, the service is slow.

Check out was a bit slow as the reception is desk style so there are pros and cons.

it seems that it is always slow ans sluggish.

Even there own ability to use their credit card machines was mind numbingly slow.

For the price I paid for this hotel I was not happy with the slow internet, frequent disconnects, out dated bathroom, and no heater in the room.

The AC was not strong enough, one of the cleaners used smelled a little musty, people were smoking on the non smoking floor and used items were not replaced (face cloths, body wash, batteries for the scale).

but the non smoking room I requested turned out to be a smoking request.

simply put them to non smoking floors 。 5. more incentive to direct booking guests6.

The guests stay in this hotel smoke a lot, even non smoking room can smell smoke. ..

The area iis all non smoking and smokers have to retreat outside by the pool if they wish to light up.

I was not pleased to be given a room with smoking smell , I then changed

My colleague's room had a strong smoking smell.

To sum up the room review section is, you walk into the room and you will smell how old this hotel is.

The rooms are bit old (urgent renovations recommended) and there should be more non smoking rooms!

The free weights are old and the back gym room smelled so musty.

However, there was this issue with the cigarette stench.

The Hotel looks out on a lake, which can smell a little in the height of summer,

Nice and comfortable room except there was a bit smelly on the bathroom sink drain.

The staff really need to pay more attention in my booking of two rooms - one smoking and one non-smoking - there is no point of asking me repeatedly if I mind two non-smoking rooms when it is already mentioned in my request.

Western breakfast was totally under the bar - sausage, ham and bacon were disgusting.

Its the 2nd time Ive stayed here and Im Very, VERY happy with the front desk customer service.

Staff are incredibly patient, professional, courteous, and speak decent English.

The building provides some shade and the attendants will jump up to help move lounge chairs to shaded areas.

Attendant wouldn’t allow us to park in front temporarily to check in.

Staff always willing to help and get you where you wanted to be.

The staff is attentive and helpful and speak English well.

Jessica, Lucy, cynthia, carry, and joy are the most helpful during my stay and they give me one of the best experience while i was in china and during my experience traveling to china they was the best so far

The Marco Polo has a few tempting restaurants on site including Italian, fusion, Japanese, Southeast Asian and a Starbucks.

Just inside the hotel is an Starbucks coffee shop and a Italian restaurant.

The Starbucks in the corner add bnonus points.

Also, on the ground and second floor of the hotel they have a Starbucks and other amazing restaurants.

Some luxury boutique around hotel, Starbucks and some other western restaurant is situated nearby too.

There is a Starbucks on the back and side of the hotel, which can be accessed from within the lobby.

And, if you really feel the need for caffiene, there is a Starbucks attached to the back corner, which is very convenient if you want a take away coffee, or even to kill a little time before your taxi to the airport.

Hotel is near a local cafe Street, and there is also a Starbucks at the hotel premise itself.

Starbucks in the hotel premises is a blessing.

and the best part is they have a Starbucks attached to the hotel!

The hotel has a nice pastry shop in the lobby along with a Starbucks for convenient coffee and breakfast.

but there in Starbucks right in the hotel building.

bars that serve imported European beers, breadstores, supermarket, mini wet market, foot massage (the Chinese way) and it has its own starbucks.

Have a starbucks at lobby which is convenient.

The location is great with a Starbucks attached and several restaurants, bars and shops just outside.

Downstairs in the lobby - has Starbucks and a few designer shops - so overall the feel is 5star.

The dinning was five star standard, both the breakfast and the buffet dinner.

I can access to 40th floor to have breakfast FOC

The breakfast spread is as great as the buffet restaurant down on the 2nd floor.

Susan, in the downstairs breakfast reastaurant, also ensured that we are prompty attended to during our week's stay.

The food in the main buffet restaurant was good.

Buffet breakfast downstairs had lots of variety.

The breakfast buffet is outstanding and the staff is awesome!

Facility is great and club level has wonderful view and decent choices of breakfast.

The breakfast is very good quality with lots of choice even if you are vegetarian.

We really enjoyed the lounge in the 40th and had dinner in the Chinese restaurant and breakfast at the buffet restaurant and I disagree with many reviewers, we really enjoyed the breakfast (best French toast ever) and the service there very much.

Service is great and the breakfast buffet is pretty good as well

Additionally, I was given the option of having my breakfast at the restaurant. My stay was extremely pleasant as I would give five stars in all areas: from customer service to all facilities (room/suite, lounge, restaurant etc.)

I tried to use Zense, the Chinese restaurant, 

The Chinese restaurant serves tasty food and so does the Q-bar.

The food in the Chinese restaurant is delicious and also the daily breakfast on the 2nd floor.

Both McDonalds and KFC within walking distance if you need a break from chinese food.

We ended up having dinner in the Chinese restaurant which was quite nice.

My lunch at the Chinese restaurant inside the hotel was also super enjoyable.

but was still quite tasty and a refreshing change from the amount of Chinese food we had been eating!

The food in the Chinese restaurant is excellent and certainly would miss it and therefore recommand.

The chinese fusion restaurant offered great traditional food/ with a twist at very reasonable price.

but was invited to a business dinner at the Chinese restaurant.

Also, they have a great Chinese restaurant with a nice setup & marvelous taste.

When we came back to the room at night, we found a nice birthday cake with a greeting card on the table.

but they charged me the full walk in rate, I said the app was down and could I not quality for the same online rates, they just said "no" and that's it.

however, was a very far cry from what the 'excellent' ratings had led me to expect from a recognised brand seeking to charge premium prices.

Few flaws: when we arrived the credit card machine of the hotel would not work and they insisted to get the full amount of the stay plus extras in cash cover, when the problem was theirs and not ours.

but on check-out I was given a bill with no deductions made, and the internet charge was still there.

I had booked a prepaid rate online and received several emails to say my credit card had been charged and the room paid for

Must be one of the few hotels in China where WiFi is not free; they charge 50rmb for slow wifi and 80 for fast.

The receptions said "nope, you have to come down drop your key, and say you are leaving then we will release charges from your credit card, despite you have settled the payments" is this 5 star foreign brand of hotel?

Laundry service wanted to charge me extra "express charge" for laundry I left at 8:30 in my room,

I's not a big ask and if it's a problem then offer it to SPG card holders then, which I have

They tried hard to solve the issue and I give them credit for trying

taxis are still getting used to the hotel so I suggest you carry the name card in Chinese at all times when venturing out.

The only fault is they charge for internet use in the non club rooms.

Don't forget the hotel name card too for your return trip to the hotel.

Check-in went smoothly even when at first there were some problems getting a deposit from my credit card.

However, the person in charge ended up making cocktail drinks for others and I was waited for 20 minutes to get my pathetic cakes. 4.

The executive lounge at 40th FLoor offered various drinks in the afternoon and meal in the evening where I enjoyed the fabulous sunset view.

Some staff were very courteous (cleaning staff) and some needed more training (executive lounge) to be on par with Westin of other major Chinese cities.

The hotel has opened up its executive lounge to all Marriott Bonvoy members, during the outbreak of coronavirus.

I would like to give a special shout out to everyone at the executive lounge, especially Rachel.

USB plugs would be nice (upgraded and updating the plugs) the executive lounge is superb with three floors and special ambiente.
