Our room was clean and comfortable and the beds were excellent.

What a well run hotel, very clean and with great staff.

Location, staff, service, food and cleanliness are excellent.

Staying in the hotel a number of times in the last few months, never had any issues with the facilities, always clean.

I have stayed here overnight too and the room was clean and comfy.

Stayed with my mother all was nice and clean and air conditioning in room.

The food is also great and the facilities are immaculate and stylish which makes a huge difference too.

Most importantly, the staff were attentive, friendly and on hand.

Found the customer service to be exceptional - nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were all very friendly and polite.

The staff were really friendly, and Lily was amazing, chatted with us, offering us all kinds of help, booking taxis and reservations etc - super efficient and always smiling.

The young guy in the bar needs a little more training - when I asked for a brandy he had no idea what one was and we went through the bottles till he found one - this was done is a very pleasant way and we both had some laughs doing it - he had a great manner, was not flustered and wanted to help - he will be a great barman when he has a little more experience -

I am already from Ukraine and I have problems with payment, and also these people said that their system requests card details, and in the end they withdrew 219 pounds.

After seeing my family off and I asked the night manager if I could have a word with him.

I then asked for the bill to be added onto my room, which I was told to go and sort that at reception!

We complained at checkout and requested to see the most senior person on site, we were told to wait, after 30 mins we were informed he was too busy to see us

While I understand that rooms are not serviced due to covid, surely the request for clean towels should not be ignored.

We mentioned this to the staff and asked for the utensils to be changed - they were understanding and did so swiftly, offering us fresh egg options too.

I also asked him if they would be showing the Ruiz Jnr vs Joshua fight in the bar later.

When i asked about the pool this is being converted into extra bedroom which is a loss.

I paid online requesting also sofa bed which was fully readied with linen, blanket and extra towel -thoughtful!

On our last day they asked us for another £50 because it was £50 per night

Yet 5 Stella each we’ve been told that when we  leave we have to take the van as parking has now ran out.. due to my last drink being drank, on challenging management (the girl in charge behind reception, and the lad claiming to be bar manager) that surely this is wrong, us and other people in the bar  agreeing with me were asked to leave.. Because we were making a problem, when no voices were raised, and manners were still used, he couldn’t tell me his self and sent one of his friendly members of bar staff .

The meal was poor and when we requested another glass of wine our first choice was unavailable as was our second choice.

The staff was so rude when asked about this.

although machines still not working correctly so you had to put in a request for a cappuccino. Having spent a very rainy day in Oxford (not the Holiday Inns fault I know!)

I was asked if I wanted to open a tab, though.

She had asked me on check in what we were doing for the week end and I told her moving onto another hotel for my birthday celebrations.

waited 10 mins or so then asked the waitress how long it would be.

Only one issue, on the first evening we were not individually asked our room numbers, the whole bill was charged to the one person who had given his number.

The dining room staff, especially Hannah,  were friendly and welcoming and always served us well - and we always enjoyed the meals.

The hotel was comfortable and spacious and the food very tasty.

The staff from John on reception, Reece in the restaurant and the breakfast team was great, they really made us feel welcome and went that extra mile.

We explained we just wanted a nice dinner.

I found myself in the Peartree Holiday Inn this morning, on the hunt for some breakfast (as the Travelodge opposite had no food amenities).

Both breakfast and evening food was delicious, bar was comfortable and very relaxing.

Comfortable rooms very nice bar restaurant.

Just stayed again last week (to visit Blenheim food fayre) and all work completed and looking very good.

What particularly impressed our group of 5 was the breakfast/mornings and the food available.

Plenty of room in the bar or the restaurant to dine and relax.

The bar lady at no time saw any alcohol from us that was not bought at the bar.

Breakfast offered a good range of food options and was included in our room rate.

The hotel restaurant was very clean, tastefully presented the food was excellent and plentiful and again the staff very attentive, a special mention has to be made for Latifa  for her very pleasant, efficient and friendly service along with the reataurant mangager both of whom went above and beyond to make our anniversary meal that bit special.

The reception, dinning & bar areas are fresh, smart & inviting, and whilst the rooms could do with the same makeover, they are as expected in a Holiday Inn, comfortable & great for a short break.

but Kevin on Reception very kindly and efficiently helped us to complete parking arrangements and checked when our room would be available.

Our room was very clean and in very good repair - no grotty sealant around the bath etc.

the night manager asif was extremly polite and welcoming, he explained where our rooms were and stuff about the bar well, will defo be coming back.

The rooms and bed were comfortable and we slept well.

Superb facilities, comfortable rooms and every member of staff was without fail, cheerful, helpful and professional; a really great team.

but during this period, I stayed alone in an executive room.

but the eggs had been out a while and were hard but when my wife asked for more it was no issue and promptly sorted - getting toast is a bit of a long winded affair as the toaster is slow - I had time to put the world to rights with another guy waiting.

Very outdated , slow check in , rooms - below average for the price , just not what the Holiday Inn advertises !

but the service was very slow even considering the hotel seemed quite full.

but very badly managed, examples:
- not enough bar staff in the evening ( dirty tables and slow service)
- we ordered food in our room, it was really slow, and cold when it arrived
- no restaurant staff in the morning (three white shirted managers looking panicked and not helping)
- front desk staff that were a little overwhelmed

If you are not going into Oxford in the evening, there is no option other than a motorway service station to the hotel, so plan carefully!!

They seem far too under staffed to me and the service is painfully slow.

Check in was a bit slow as there was a queue and I overheard staff said the hotel was full.

Check in was very slow, only one member of staff on desk when we arrived at 2.30 and waited about 15 minutes and then another girl came on to help.

HI still provides basic WIFI which is quite slow, and still charges extra for higher quality WIFI which is a shame.

but service was really slow & the restaurant was not even busy.

20 minute wait for a very average breakfast with slow service and just warm coffee.

Check out was slow, and needs speeding up.

but a bit slow even for browsing the web.

Was Oxford half marathon on so some roads closed off so bus a bit slow. Waited over 20mins on the way back for a bus

Check in very slow as only one staff member.

but perfectly edible if a bit slow to arrive.

The bathroom door did not close and the hand basin was slow to empty, and the carpet smells of Athletics Foot, and needs a good shampoo, as it stinks of feet.

The bathroom door wouldn't close properly, the sink was slow to drain and the handle that changes bath to shower was broken !

Check in for our 3 rooms was slow - only one person to cope with several parties at once.

We were met with smiles and welcoming words.

I politely explained that he was an assistance dog.

Rachel B and team there were excellent and have set the bar high for wherever I am next bound to attend.

Kudos to him for prioritizing customer needs above everything else.

The main reason for my review is ti highlight some staff that have been amazing to myself and team.

Asif did a very good job in checking me in and helping me.

I use Holiday Inn Oxford regularly for meetings with colleagues and always receive excellent service with a smile from Jacqui, Rachel, Hannah and the team.

£100 charge for 18 minutes  waiting in the carpark.

but when you came in you were told that they were fully booked and that you had to wait, and then others were let in ahead anyway.

After waiting 25 minutes for the toast and 3 sets of customers being served before us out of turn we decided to check out.

On arrival the receptionist could not find our booking so we had to wait while she tried to sort it out.

It was then followed by being told I needed to wait 30 minuts to order food.

If you like diesel fumes you are going to love Oxford, centre, there were more buses than I’ve ever seen, just one after another following each other up and down the streets, the up side didn’t have to wait for a bus!

When we had finished we waited ages for our plates to be cleared and in the end had to ask someone to clear them

We refused the room and were given another one, for which we had to wait 45 minutes (to be cleaned)

It took a long time for staff to seat me (noticed at least one other potential dinner walk away after waiting for too long).

We were told we would have a 45 min wait for dinner

She said that I had to wait till 11pm before she could do anything

While waiting for food, a member of reception staff wordlessly approached our table and moved away the extra chairs, which was quite rude (she had been terse with me previously when I asked about the restaurant).

I was initially worried and skeptical about the service quality when I had to wait really long in line for my hotel check-in,

even though there were tons of people waiting for breakfast, I didn't hear any apologies from staff. Weird.

Left standing at the restaurant entrance by an employee who had almost no English and she just walked away leaving me alone. Waiting.

When we turned up a very large touring party were in place, and we were told it would be at least a 50 min wait for food.

but on the minus side you have to pay for the Wi FI.

I was mortifed at the cost of WIFI and chose not to use it.

The downside to the hotel was the cost of the WiFi.

but unfortunately you had to pay for wifi which was expensive.

but the rooms are nothing special and lack the nice touches of other hotel groups and the cost of wifi is outrageous.

Negatives: Overpriced, characterless, expensive WIFI (unless 'signed up') v noisy if windows are open.

If you're not a 'member' you can expect to pay about £16 for wi-fi connection.

We had to pay £25 for two days of wifi access.

As per previous reviews , the only downside is the ridiculously priced wi-fi !

Wifi and Internet were very expensive at GBP5 per hour (and you had to use the whole hour at once).

I checked at reception and they confirmed that the only way to get wi-fi was to pay £28 for midday-to-midday 24hr access to all movies and wi-fi.

but for the ridiculously expensive Wi-Fi at £5 per hour, and the rather small and tired bath-towels.

The wifi is a bit expensive, 16 pounds for 24 hours.

The bar had let a situation get way out of hand (which you could see coming a mile off) and there were people sreaming and shouting right under our window.

The executive room I stayed in had no view other than large bushes right n front of the window.

The bedroom was so hot we had trouble sleeping, opened the window

If, like me, you prefer a shower to a bath, you have to stand in the bath with a shower curtain, not even a glass partition, which I find very sad and a bit dangerous.

The window also had full height wooden shutters for total blackout.

I only leave the windows open when I am out to let in fresh air & so your hard working staff do not get too hot in there!

Room 206 overlooks a brick wall, draughty window, heating doesn't work, lights were broken.

The bathroom was no better sporting a dirty looking shower curtain.

however the double glazing and black out blinds soundproofed me from any noise.

The privacy blind was missing from half the window (Room 210), which as we overlooked the main entrance meant that arriving guests could see straight up into our room.

The views from the windows aren't wonderful

We left the window open all day so the second nights sleep was better,

although my window didn't have a handle!!

There was air-con (not needed) and we could also open the window which is rare in some hotels these days who like to seal their guests in!

There is a lot of road noise even with the windows closed.

Since we stayed just for 1 night I did not bother to ask for a room change just kept the window open.

So eventually we closed the window again, and decided to try to sleep in the heat.

but they double windowed the window which does a great job of keeping the noise out of the room as long as you keep the windows closed.

I couldn't open the window for the traffic noise

A a great place to stay if you are visiting this beautiful part of England … Blenheim Palace is in Walking distance and Woodstock itself is a charming place to wander around 
Parking is easy at the Hotel, and it’s very central. Reception, Bar and restaurant Staff very friendly….. also great bed linen (!)

from booking to checking out was easy, we stayed one night dinner bed and breakfast for my birthday, found the hotel easy, lots for parking £10 overnight charge, which is amazing for a hotel in the middle of a town .

Safe easy parking at the hotel for small fee.

We were given the Beckett Room which was on the ground floor and very well appointed having a couple of easy chairs plus a large sofa!

Bus into Oxford leaves from the Market Place and the park and ride is an easy option too.

Easy checkin and checkout and well sized rooms and beautiful decorations and furnishing used across the hotel.

But he’s not just great with the food, he has obviously won over the front of house staff, not always an easy gap to bridge, because they all looked relaxed and happy which translated to great service.

Good hotel to visit Blenheim as it is an easy walk into the palace

If you are not brave enough to try the narrow archway entrance at the front, there is easy access from the rear via Park Lane or Rectory Lane.

Very central and easy to walk to cafes and Blenheim palace

Easy walks to pubs, restaurants and shops in Woodstock.

There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel.

Helpful to have radiator in room (easy to adjust temperature) rather than one of those horrid blowing things.

This is a 4 star hotel located in the Middle of Woodstock idealy sited for for easy access to Blenheim Palace (an entrance is a short walk away).

We had a warm welcome at the reception desk with advice on where all the good pubs & restaurants were and check out was easy too.

Drinks and wine are not cheap and it is apparent that their prices reflect its tourist location near Blenheim (which is within every easy walking distance).

Hotel is in a prime location as we was going to Blenheim palace, which is easy walking distance.

WE recently stayed at the Bear in woodstock and try to visit as often as possible as it such a lovely hotel and staff are very friendly.

service from the two girls Andreia and Gracie was welcoming and friendly, espessially towards our two dogs,would defenitly come back to stay and eat.

Fast, friendly efficient check in with Josh on reception.

however the cherry on top of the cake was the outstanding food and the friendly staff, in particular Ellie - she was extremely attentive.

Restaurant staff were good so friendly and at attentive .

Instantly we were welcomed with friendly staff and after explaining what happened the receptionist gave us complementary drinks and calmed me down.

On a positive note the staff were very friendly and helpful.

From arrival to leaving I couldn’t fault the warm friendly staff at The Bear.

but those important consistent things that stand out is its incredible history, excellent location, high standards of cleanliness and friendly staff, not to forget the excellent food.

On the plus side bedding was clean, bed reasonably comfortable albeit slightly short, and all staff we encountered were friendly.

Great friendly warm and efficient welcome at reception and then shown to a fabulous room  - Blenheim - can thoroughly recommend this room !

As a guest staying last night at the same time as the previous review, I was rather taken aback as I couldn't believe such a review  of The Bear was possible.

but not dirty. Breakfast was awful… we were told only two eggs left (in a busy hotel surely they would have more than enough eggs for guests!)

The head waiter told us that there was a 30 pound allowance per person for meal for guests on the dinner, bed and breakfast deal.

However, we were very disappointed to find that the menu had been changed with no notification to guests.

Only one slight gripe - car parking at the hotel is £10 per night and whilst not a huge amount, it should really be complmentary for guests as part of the welcome.

however three members of staff who did their utmost to make up for things - the check ion lady was a delight, and had to endure customer after customer venting their frustrations (clearly we were not the only dissatisfied guests), as well as the bar manager and a member of the serving management.

Room 45 is directly above the bar which is open to hotel guests for 24 hours.

The more wise guests could be seen staying well away from the restaurant and instead heading elsewhere for dinner.

Could be busier with more repeat clients if they rethought the value proposition.

Only slight issue, I hadn’t realised the room booked was on the 1st floor and had no lift access, which made it difficult for some of our mobility impaired guests.
