Due to Covid, there were some changes: no daily service, contact less check-in/out.

Gardner Inn was exceptionally clean and followed no contact check-in and out.

We really value the vibe and proximity to Mazama and favorite day hikes east of Rainy Pass.

This location was great for hiking in the North Cascades, with Mazama Country Store being a perfect breakfast stop on the way into the park. We did not have to contact anyone from the hotel during our stay (because we encountered no issues!)

Although we did most of our skiing in Mazama, we were able to walk to the Methow Community trail to ski and also snow shoe.

Wonderful cross country skiing along the river and a short drive to Mazama for more beautiful trails.

This hotel is totally worth considering for any adventure in the Winthrop, Twisp or Mazama areas.

The snow was magnificent in mid-February, a perfect late-winter getaway for skiing and snowshoeing at favorite spots from Sun Mountain to Mazama!!!

Hotel is a small site, comprising of 3 buildings, no elevators, 2 floors only.

Dogs are allowed (some sites say they don't allow them) only in room 1, 2, 3 and 4.

This is a sweet, clean, comfortable place to stay in Winthrop that is close to the main strip and a short walk to Nordic skiing trailhead.

We did two trips to the Methow Valley for cross-country skiing in early 2022.

We really enjoyed reading by the fire, soaking in the big bathtub after a day of skiing, and relaxing with a glass of wine.

One reason we love this place is that I can walk to the town trailhead (approximately 1/3 mile), so I can go skiing whenever I want to.

I was excited to see a small movie theater opened close by so I was able to walk over and catch a movie after a fun day of skiing and shopping around.

Because we spent so much time skiing we did not get to meet the owners.

It's a nice walk to town and the community cross country skiing trail along a path so you don't have to walk in the road.

This is the place my husband and I nearly always stay when visiting the Methow for cross-country skiing.

My wife & I came here to go cross country skiing and stayed in their Partridge room which was beautifully appointed.

Great base for a cross country skiing trip.

We will certainly be back for more skiing and fun!

We have visited in all seasons and is a perfect destination to bring your pet and enjoy skiing or hiking.

We had a wonderful introduction to the Methow Valley and my Finnish-born bride pronounced it the "best skiing in North America".

For skiing (xcntry--for those not familiar with the Methow Valley) there is a path to the Methow Community Trail from the hotel and Winthrop is just a short walk--or drive-- away.

Their place is perfectly located in Winthrop to access many activities: cross country skiing, snowmobiling, fat bike riding, snow shoeing.

Don't hesitate to stay here if you are skiing.

Another plus is that you can walk into town, maybe fifteen minutes, if you want to avoid traffics.

The town is so small that you can quickly walk or drive to anything you need from the Inn.

We like the rooms and the ability to walk to the trailhead is a big plus.

We brought our snow shoes, walked to the ice rink, went to town for coffee.

We just walked across the street to access the river to fish in the morning, and can ride our bikes right from the Inn.

We love to walk to town (Winthrop) in the morning over the suspension bridge spanning the beautiful Methow River.

There's an area out back for walking dogs.

The dog-friendly room off Route 20 is a rare find, and the Inn is a short river walk to all needs.

It is a short walk into the main tourist part of town.

Hotel was updated and very clean and a short walk into town.

The location is beautiful and a short walk into Winthrop.

It was close enough that we walked into town the next morning for pastries.

You can walk to town or the grocery store or restaurants.

We love the walks to and from town, as well as the drives around that beautiful area of Washington State!

We walked into town, walked to pizza, walked to the small movie theater, and loved the hospitality as well as the magnificent Methow Valley.

The rooms were very clean, bathroom flooring has clearly been recently updated as have the shower curtains and bedding.

The room was clean with a king size bed, a small refrigerator and microwave.

On opening our "non-smoking" room the first thing that hits you is the overwhelming smell of stale cigarette smoke.

They definitely shouldn't be in the hospitality industry.

Last time we stayed at Abby Creek Inn was back in June 2020 when despite the poor customer check-in experience (we were given first a dirty room with garbage still in the room, dirty sheets, hair in the sink, definitely not cleaned up after the previous guests left , then got moved to a room we couldn't access the card being wrong or not activated) I chose to give them a pass (due to the overall Covid situation and limited staff I assumed they had) and didn't write a review back then.

The owner/manager took us tubing and I have never had a more unprofessional experience.

Had to wait for them to finish in the laundry.

So I sat around and waited for them to do that which wasted part of my morning.

We had to wait 15 minutes on the parking for them to unload the tubings from their truck everytime we wanted to park.

Frayed lampshade, chipped faucet, stained carpet, incredibly loud, ancient A/C unit, no screens on window or sliding door so no fresh air, and despite the nice welcoming email, an attitude with the front desk of too bad, no changes or effort to accommodate.

Walls were thin, so even if the window was closed it would have been noisy.

Cons: outdated, slow flush low toilets, cheesy decor and showers, ice on the inside of our windows every night, cold as hell bathrooms as they aren’t heated, no settings on the heat (on or off or demon hot or cold as all get out), no soundproofing, no amenities (crappy toiletries, NO hairdryer), super dark hallways and rooms as in really bad POOR  lighting- I had to put my make-up on in the car, water pressure and sink drainage issues, and no common areas (we were staying with friends at the same place

Close to tons of great hiking,golfing (highly recommend Bear Creek Golf Course!).

Upon our initial check in, we were advised that the pool and hot tub would be closed for repairs for two of the four days we were staying.

We arrived very late only to find the office was closed,

The town was mostly closed up due to middle of the week in February,

We especially enjoyed fishing at Pearrygin Lake State Park.

Finally, I had requested a rollaway for my teenage son and the poor kid told me the lumpiness of this rollaway was so bad he could not sleep (which for him was really saying something, as he can usually sleep through anything).

I was welcomed nicely by the front desk managers, and found the room to be very clean and comfortable with added amenities like a well appointed bathroom with great products, a large jar of ground coffee so that I could make as much as I’d like, Roku TV that included movies and live TV, a good bed, and a slider door, that steps out onto a shaded lawn with chairs and hammocks next to a lightly flowing river.

The rooms were clean with nice amenities that felt like staying in a friend’s home.

Only recommendation I would have is to bring your own conditioner, as the conditioning shampoo they provided left my hair tangled.

Found it very peaceful - also could leave window open all night - no need for air conditioner!.

The longer counter by the sink in the main room makes for easier food preparation since we bring our own meals.

Ring your own soap as the soap provided by the hotel is a size best described as midway between the size of a quarter and a 50 cent piece.

Once again - Be Warned & Double Check Before Staying at the Hotel Rio Vista.

but this left a sour taste and we decided to check out as planned and spend the next night elsewhere.

The Rio Vista hotel is very clean too and everything in my room worked -- lights, TV, shower, etc.

Loved everything about this place, from the spotless room with charming hand made wood furniture, lovely private deck overlooking the river and hills beyond.

Wine was served that had gone bad, entrees at dinner were lukewarm and room was “tired” needed carpet cleaning or replacement.

Only issues were some overdone meat and cold breakfast and questionable maid service--only semi made room up after first night.

Hats off to housekeeping:  they came daily to replenish supplies & remove trash, and after we left, found the iPad our 5 yo had stashed and hidden from his brother, made immediate and repeated efforts to call us, and then shipped it home once we connected.

It's now cleaner than ever, because of the restoration after the fires this past summer.

There is no in-room daily housekeeping because of Covid restrictions.

There was no maid service the entire 3 days/nights that we stayed.

Upon taking a bath in the jetted tub, there were huge piles of actual dirt that came from the jets, to implicate it had not been cleaned or "santized" in a very long time and dust accumulation on the ledge adjacent to the tub.

No housekeeping cleaning at all because of strict guidelines.

The room also had some issues with a constantly running toilet that maintenance was unable to fix, and some detail needed with housekeeping - looks like a deep clean had not occurred recently with dust build up on the appliances within the bathroom, and a cleaning rag left in the tub.

Due to Covid Phase 2 there was no daily maid service

Room was spotless - the whole property was clean as a whistle actually.

Our room was spotlessly clean and wonderful (Mount Robinson Lodging), the dining experience second to none (how the kitchen makes that happen in a location far removed from any major population center I do not know).

No apology was offered for my sleepless night, only a rotten attitude and an extra blanket.

Wild fires have burned several areas around the Lodge and some trails remain closed.

Numerous fix-it items: broken shade cord, bent & warped cookware, broken sconce parts on the wall, burned out range hood bulb that they couldn’t seem to replace.

Unfortunately, this is not offset by the poor quality and service (server stunk of body odor, kitchen was noisy and intrusive for each dining room meal).

I have never actually seen a skunk in the wild in my life!

Pools not open & it was HOT, Room smelled really bad.

in fact for breakfast, it is just oatmeal, and one of the days it seemed like it was seasoned with garlic. Yuck!

My only complaint was the goose poop that the geese happily repopulated every evening.

Finally on our last morning at breakfast the English muffin arrived with a dot of mold on the side!
