At the same time, we propose to make it by cash, cos non all the tourist holding the credit card.

It is inconvenient that there is no USB charging port in the room.

Because I am eco-friendly conscientious, I was impressed with how Fairmont was already using eco-friendly products including the room key (no plastic key card) and no longer packaging their products with plastic. Wow!!!

For context purposes and to possibly help someone avoid a similar situation, the misunderstanding  was the fact that I had been billed for items that had apparently been consumed from the mini bar in my room and that was not the case.

I thought they might charge me if I sneezed.

Hotel is walking distance to the Forks, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights… 

Only issue we had was our cards continually being demagnetized.

Another issue that occurred was the demagnetizing of the hotel room key card.

although the bed was very comfortable, there weren't extra pillows in the closet and so many things dated it like the grey shallow tub from the 70's or the lack of usb plugs to charge our phones.

you already have a covered closed parkade and leaving client's vehicles outside overnight is not acceptable for this super high charge.

When I paid for the stay at checkout there was not a dinner charge for that evening.

So we FINALLY got our room cards (after 3 hours thank you very much) and I still had to ask about our parking (3rd disappointment).

I just received my
Bill and they charged us for parking.

The rooms are sad and in need of an upgrade if they plan to continue charging the exorbitant rates they normally do.

but are missing several contemporary standard amenities such as easily accessible electrical outlets in the room (had to charge my phone in the bathroom)  and a modern heating system which doesn't gurgle and make small explosion/popping sounds every few minutes throughout the night.

And even if it said the pass was good for the duration of our stay, the parking gate indicated the pass was already suspended during our departure so I had to go back to the frontdesk, informed frontdesk lady of the predicament (who advised they had to charge me 21 bucks for another parking pass), and politely advised and made her see reason I'm not paying for another damn parking pass when clearly it wasn't my fault the first pass they gave me was faulty.

“Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your Elton John Experience - we hope your stay is filled with sequins, sunglasses and memories to last a lifetime!” 
This sentiment was in a beautiful card that was waiting in our room along with a yellow brick & delectable cookies artfully arranged when we returned from the #farewellyellowbrickroad concert.

however my credit card has still been charged for the amount
I am not impressed at all, it felt like staying at a budget hotel !

The front desk staff was also very helpful, friendly and professional.

It was as a beautiful hotel with fantastic amenities and over the top friendly staff.

Our server was Nat , she did a wonderful job, very attentive and knowledgable of the new menu items..   For breakfast we were greeted by Rod and Rita , very friendly staff members made us feel right at home.

The staff involved in arranging our wedding ceremony/reception in their VG Room - in particular banquet manager Gina Tavares - were consistently competent, courteous, helpful, friendly, and flexible when asked to be.

The carpet was soaking wet for half the room and smelt like musty carpet.

The hallways on room floors are not bright like other modern hotels and our particular floor had a stale humid odour.

In shared spaces, there were overflowing garbage cans - what looked like days worth of cigarette

Rooms are not renovated, there were stains on the chairs and a smell of humidity in the beds.

Some wall paper stain and noticeable gap of moulding near ceiling which I didn't care

yuck; I don't know what to say about the drapes.

The new room had a musty smell and for some reason limited channels 🤷🏻‍♀️  Tried to upsell us on parking.

The air conditioner cover was lying on the floor and covered in mold.

The bathroom sink would not drain, hairdryer was missing, both phones would not work unless on speaker, and the window was quite filthy on the inside.

Club Level breakfast is a disappointment - little choice of cold eggs and stale pastry.

The first room we had stunk and the tv did not work.

It’s my first time to stay in Fairmont Winnipeg.Filthy carpet, the accent chair upholstery is old, dirty and torn and really needs replacement.One of the pillows provided stinks and smells like sweat.The pancakes were terrible, change your maple syrup supplier.

A friend booked a room for 4 of us to stay, when we got to our floor we're we stayed we noticed that someone was smoking on the room next to us, we changed rooms..

The water at the jacuzzi was green and it stank.

just a few ancient treadmills and I regretted hopping in the pool due to the excessive amount of hair/skin/dirt particles floating in the water and the strong, caustic chlorine smell (indicative of a pool which is not cleaned properly).

Bady needed updated and the furniture was filthy.

I noticed the tub had a nasty looking brown drip from the side of the tub.

Besides the pool mishap, the hotel is very clean and professional.

The only positive I can say was the valet, was very polite and personable.

Great location, attentive staff, overall felt safe being in downtown Winnipeg.

but the Fairmont Gold team made my stay the most special.

I booked last minute after a terrible Airbnb stay the night before, and the team at the Fairmont moved heaven and earth to help me check in early.

We bbq chicken, mashed potatoes with asparagus, and different kinds of carrots.

We ate at the dining room and it was average at best .Staff is helpful and friendly.

The hotel staff are friendly and reasonably efficient.

The staff was friendly and helpful, and were happy to take us on a tour of their magnificent ballroom (as seen in several Hallmark movies).

Beds were comfy and bathrooms were ok.  Staff at desk were ok and friendly.

In fact, we recognized some of the people, including the maitre d'hotel and one of the friendly, experienced servers.

We kind of stumbled  into the Fort Garry Hotel 6 years ago when passing through Winnipeg on a cross-Canada drive.

A beautiful motel, upon arrival I was met with hassle free and professional desk staff.

The front desk staff are exceptional, the hotel location is beautiful (especially in the summer); it is walking distance to the ball park, CMHR, the Forks, etc.

I think what was stellar was the staff at the front desk and the restaurant who were always incredibly accommodating about our breakfast requests (note, please bring back bacon instead of ham on your breakfast menu).

Checking was easy and the clerk was amazing.

The noise through the thin walls and the awkward layout of the room were considered in this review,

The walls are thin and you can hear your neighbours.

That dominated  the space in the remaining part of the tall walls.

Once on our floor, you see that the hallways are wide and the walls, doors, etc.

Due to the fact it’s an old building the walls are so thin.

Downsides: room initially booked (standard queen, second floor) was tiny, and with a view of a wall.

but our tv had wires hanging down and there were paint chunks taken out of the wall.

but being in wall dispensers kind of gives a tacky feeling to the experience.

Walls are paper thin and we could hear every neighbour conversation, including the couple arguing beside us.

The extra water jets on the wall were somewhat clogged and didn’t spray as nice as they should have.

I found the bed a bit lumpy in both rooms, and the walls are very thin (you can hear your neighbours sneeze, among other things).

This idiot couple is really putting on a show next door, we banged on the wall and they just got louder. Ridiculous.

My room (one of the cheaper ones) was small and looked out on a blank wall (not that I cared -- I just undressed, slept, showered, and dressed there).

First off, I would ignore the reviews that focus on grouting, cracks in the walls etc.

If asked, I would lighten up the halls with cream paint, rather than the dismal green that colours the walls now.

There was a bit of the wall jutting out, about 8 inches in front of the toilet.

Carpets in the hallways were cut with large gaps missing along the walls, twist ties (bread bag types) were used to hold the hair dryer cord to the bathroom wall, the bed skirt was stained, cracked tiles in the bathroom, mildewed grout in the bathroom and the sole piece of art in the room was a super enlarged correspondence to the hotel from the 1920's (okay, I know that's picky).

The steam shower dripped hot scalding water on you while you sat on an uncomfortably hot bench.

There had to be something wrong with it as it never kicked out and the sound of running water never stopped.

but then the lot is full when you return, bottled water in room is only available for a fee, fees for a fridge in the room, dog fee feels exploitative.

but once you turn the water on, you can't get the temperature right.

For $159/night, I expect a clean room at least, then it’s $18 on top of that to park and water in the room was $6 for one bottle.

but it bugs me that things like parking or a bottle of water are not included in the price, that everything is an extra.

A little tip on getting coffee:  make sure you specify what "type" of coffee you like or they will only bring you water.

3) please make the bottle of water in the room free of charge.

but the shower water temperature fluctuates between hot and cold.

Shower didn’t have cold water; choices were super hot and extremely hot.

but the water temperature was not steady which made showering an adventure.

The only thing would be that the fridge is an additional $15/night and there is also no hot water boiler provided in the rooms.

When they offer bottled water in the room for $6 each, I would have expected that the bathtub would have been newer than the 1980s model.

At this time the hotel experienced a bad water break.

After a long day of meeting it was nice to be able to get out and do these things and get some of the local foods near the Forks area.There is not tea or regular water bottles in room

We had two rooms one dated and one modernised both prices similarly neither room had coffee or tea facilities, which I would expect as a minimum and bottled water was chargeable at over $6 ridiculous!!

Pay extra if you wanted a cup of tea (or hot water) at 9 pm.

My wife hit the bottom of the orange juice, so took something else, next thing the lady in charge of breakfast brought over a glass of orange juice for her after getting the OJ firing again.

My partner and I arrived without a credit card and were stranded in Winnipeg with my service dog in tow.

No offer to comp room charges to the 5 victims, which could have been the very least you could do.

A day after we left the hotel the manager "texted" saying we had damaged the desk and was charging us an extra $258!

Be prepared for the "incidentals" charge with no clear indication of when (or if) the money will be returned.

Late check-out at 3pm for a small additional charge was a plus.

Not sure if my credit card got charged 3 times or not at this point.

So then they told me it would be an extra charge for them to go in and they can only go for half an hour,

I phoned the lady to ask why they were charge extra, she was not friendly over the phone and doesn't even sound friendly.

Then as I walked away he asked what room I was in and said he could get one and charged me 12.00.  it was strange

Quoted $130 on Best Western Rewards online and was charged $170 first night and $130 next two nights.

You are not relegated to a "pet room" either, nor charged extra.

but puzzled on the $200 damage deposit on our card.

If you booked here, get ready for the additional charges when you arrive in the hotel, the night staff are rude as well, im not pleased with their attitude.

To the credit of front desk staffer Josephine, we were promptly relocated to another room.

It did not give me comfort about how much exactly was taken off my credit card.

I was somewhat baffled at the request to leave a damage deposit on my credit card.

Not a comfortable sleep as mattresses were hard and bathrooms are too small.

The bathroom was a bit small - my only complaint.

BUT, a tiny bathroom with a tiny toilet placed inches above the floor so that if feels like you are falling to sit on it.

The shampoos were tiny and didn't lather.

Room and bathroom were a bit small for 2 couples.

Washroom's really small and air conditoner's loud.

As soon as tub filled and jets turned on mold,scum,body oil that was festering in the jets filled the tub as well.

The managers words were “too bad she’s got to go somewhere else.” Absolutely disgusting behaviour. -100000/10.

The fumes came into our room- which was on the fourth floor, which is also something that needs addressing.

Baked goods were stale / hard and there were not many choices for vegetarians.

We needed to ask for a different room because the first room we were given had a musty smell.

No place to hand damp towels to dry except over the shower bar.

Cons:
Window did not open, so room air a bit humid and stale.

Just a musty, stuffy air and the fan in the bathroom was running when I first entered.

If you have allergies ask to be put on the third or fourth floor to be pet free and also away from the pool end as that wing leading to the pool does have a strong odor and I would assume is related to the salt water pool and high humidity. Also.

but I think there must be something wrong with their ventilation pulling in smoke.

Travelling across country with three kids, and also a cockatiel bird this time, I had to find a hotel that was pet friendly and non smoking.

I'm used to no smoking in restaurants and thought the upside down ashtray was to hold our liter of wine. Embarassing.

There was even a bag with a dog blanket, dog poop bags and a couple of absorbant pads should fido can't make it outside in time.

Breakfast was a little stale by 830a though.

The staff is great and very accommodating and go above and beyond!

The rooms are clean, lots of options for the continental breakfast and the staff are great and go out of their way to help.

They have the best staff, a wonderful hot breakfast.

This was our first stay here and we are super impressed with the staff , clean rooms , service and the facility in general .
