(I wasn't upset so much that the water heater was broken - these things happen).

There was also a urine like smell coming from the AC unit when it would turn on.

The hallway on our floor did not seem to have air-conditioning.

Even with the tv on and the heater fan set on continuously ON, the shaft noise drove us nuts.

but he declared the HVAC no good as well.

Also, the cover of the air conditioning/heating unit was falling off (we tried to put it back on

In the elevator, one of the hand rails had broken off and someone just covered the sticking out part with duct tape.

The hand rail in one of the elevators had been taken off and duct tape covered the broken areas.

Rail in the elevator is broken and covered with raggedy duct tape…air conditioner unit in our room has broken panel…ceiling in hallway was actively leaking and showed signs of repeated water damage.

The only complaint we had was the pullout couch was situated next to the air conditioner.

There was also no fan in the bathroom and large patches of black mold on the ceiling.

The room was dated, and the air conditioning unit was noisy the whole night.

The a/c unit had a broken piece on the bottom and the bathroom had a stain on the ceiling as well as a loose faucet.

Plus, I could never get the air conditioner/heater to work, so my room was hot.

The only problem we experienced was the heating unit.

The HVAC unit became louder as the night wore on to the point sleep was impossible.

We are NOT fans of the tiny plastic bottles and wish Hilton would start addressing this problem.

Although it was not in walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg, it was close enough.

Here's why:
1) Very close to Colonial Williamsburg.

We loved the closeness to colonial Williamsburg.

This motel is close to Colonial Williamsburg Visitor's Center.

Located close to Colonial Williamsburg, so close you could walk it if a footpath or trail could be made through the woods.

When looking for a hotel we wanted one that had good reviews, was close to Colonial Williamsburg, was not too expensive, and had breakfast included.

The location is great so close from colonial Williamsburg.

Stayed here for 5 nights, hotel is centrally located to Colonial Williamsburg and close to I-64.

No notes on the front door or front desk and definitely no verbal warning from the same front desk staff during check-in.

but it is not the best and has a sketchy motel right next door, so this was off putting.

The closet door was broken and that was the only full lengthy mirror.

but we heard no noise unless someone was outside our door.

There was "graffiti" (for lack of a better word) on the door and on the wall in the elevator.

Second, the elevator door is very aggressive.

They gave me 2 small garbage bags which would only fit one towel each, so we just piled them up outside the door.

The door was super sticky and didn't shut.

Our room had no lock on the bathroom door, the decor is outdated, the beds are springy and uncomfortable, the pillows have no substance to them, our room’s carpet was damp and they wouldn’t switch our room, and the TV is so outdated.

None of the housekeeping staff wears a mask while walking the halls or cleaning the rooms, yet they stick a “sanitized” sticker on the door like it means something.

Poeple at the hotel next door came over for breakfast and uses the dumpster.

but we were given extra bags upon request to leave rubbage and dirty towels outside door.

In other locations, the maid drop those on the door on daily basis, a bag consists of towels and toiletries , and extra bags for trash/dirty towels.

A large pile of dirty towels was outside our door the entire stay reminding us that management at this location wasn’t really up to normal standards.

Our room had a sanitized seal on the door.

I had a sticker on my door like a seal that I thought was overkill

Hanging mirror/ door for closet was missing.

Door to the room was difficult to shut as locking mechanism did not like to disengage.

FYI we paid $180 nightly (VT football weekend) to listen to a barking dog next door.

Now, there were some little cosmetic things (the desk chair was a bit worn & the closet door needs some hinge work.

The tap (and shower) water never gets cold, so cooling off after a hot day at Busch Gardens wasn't an option.

Additionally, the bathroom had no exhaust fan.

Carpet not vacuumed, rust from HVAC unit on floor, yellow oooz from HVAC unit, looked like black mold on both walls of HVAC unit!

There was a large gap around the doorway & there was cold air coming from the ac unit by the window.

I woke up a couple times because the air conditioning was too cold

but rooms were nice minus the AC unit that was incredibly loud and disturbed our sleep.

although we had dust from the heating system on the toilet, including the seat.

The desks and wall unit had scratches and there was dust on the window pane.

Also, the exhaust fan in the bathroom is SO dusty like it hadn’t been cleaned in a year!

AC didn’t work very well and had to be repaired by maintenance and still didn’t work properly.

Expecting the A/C to work, it did not and by 2am it was 72.

Our first night the air conditioner didn’t work, room was 75 degrees so we got little sleep.

When  I woke up the next morning very stuffy sinus which made me think possible mold or mildew that bothered my sinuses.

Only down side was every time air conditioning in room kicked on the noise woke me up.

A special thank-you to Eli who searched out a dehumidifier for us when the air conditioning didn't work properly.

It is clean, safe, and has a free breakfast.

The registration desk bent over backwards to accommodate our desire to have a ground floor room, finding one which was very convenient to both parking and the complimentary breakfast area.

The rooms are clean, the complimentary breakfast is fantastic, the complimentary internet is just fine!

It's also a great value, with free breakfast, wifi and parking and competitive rates.

The free breakfast was nice, they had good scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon, my daughter loved the smoothies.

The complimentary breakfast is great- not just waffles and bagels.

I was impressed with the complimentary breakfast and the space in the lobby area made it possible to play board games and relax with my family without piling into someone's hotel room.

The free breakfast was a great perk, as we had things planned every day of our trip.

‘Thanks Hon!’ Free breakfast buffet was good.

It was great value for the price and the free breakfast was really good and made it easier traveling with young kids.

My stay here at Hampton Inns & Suites was a great stay the rooms and the entire hotel was clean , the staff was very friendly and helpful and the complimentary breakfast was delicious.

I chose this location due to the closeness to the Sentara medical center, and availability of restaurant choices along Richmond Rd. My room was clean with a lot of amenities ( microwave, fridge, ironing board, hair dryer etc.)

Hotel is very dated, and the general smell was not pleasant.

This was definitely during off season time of year (Jan 5/6) and Don’t understand why the room (basic king bed room non smoking) was the last room down a long corridor from elevators where neither ice machine or vending machine ,near the elevator ,was operational.

The floors were sticky and disgusting in the kitchen.

Unfortunately our room had that musty smell.

There was some mold in the shower and it was apparent that there had been a water leak in the ceiling  at some point.

Breakfast was not good- the fruit had a smell as if it was old and it was discolored , the congestion in the kitchen area was very heavy and there were no clear ways to get to things without waiting or bumping into to folks.

Negatives the musty smell, hard bed, and visible wear everywhere - ceilings, furniture, fixtures etc.

I did notice the first floor had a strong smell, I think from the pool.

There was an odour when entering the room due, I guess, to the humidity.

My second complaint is that the room  smelled like mold.

Upon checking out showed pictures of mold on ceiling and was told sorry have a nice day.

room 214,235 dirty walls need cleaning, evidence of insect problems (odor, pesticide residue) demolition of adjacent property not a good sign.

Our only complaint was the moldy musty smell in our room and no table or easy chair was provided.

The air conditioner was so loud that every time it cycled on it woke us up.

The ac was constantly on and off and loud.

Lastly, the AC in the room did not work well.

It was a very hot day and the AC unit was so loud we had to turn it off to sleep.

The heating and air conditioner system was so loud, I had to turn it off at night in order to sleep.

Speaking of turning off, i turned off the heating and air conditioning because the fan and motor we TOO LOUD.

The thermostat made the room cold and then hot all throughout the night.

I am a light sleeper so my only issue was trying to sleep with the noisy air conditioning unit going on and off all night.

but a noisy air conditioning unit kept me from falling asleep all 3 nights we stayed.

White noise AC, which I used even in December as room was stuffy otherwise.

Had to walk back downstairs and the man at the front desk wondered why we were given that room because it was “out of circulation” - whatever that means ?

The air conditioner is very loud and is a wall unit not central air if it wasn’t for this it would get a 4.5 rating.

Maybe I need Embassy Suites or a higher priced unit.

but to be honest, we would never have been able to hear anything above the noise of the a/c unit which was akin to the sound of a jet engine!

The air conditioner was so loud you had to put the TV on blast and then when it turned off the TV was, well on blast.

The fan for the heat only functioned on an "auto" basis so that the fan was constantly turning on and off all night.

If you like to run the fan to cover sounds of other guests, that is not possible at this hotel.

Overall satisfy with the hotel, close to Colonial Williamsburg, shopping , and dining.

They moved us to a suite free of charge when the door to our room wouldn't lock and found some items we left in the old room.

When we got up the next morning to take showers, the shower door was broken so we could not close door.

Immediately noticed post pandemic changes with the option of the “digital key,” to unlock doors using your smartphone - which was really convenient; sealed rooms indicating cleaning; touchless checkin and checkout options and required mask wearing while in common areas.

This hotel is extremely dated, the shower doors were dirty, and I wasn't sure whether blood was on it or red paint,

Instead of cleaning it they taped a sign to the door saying closed.

but there was evidence that it could have used a thorough cleaning - there was dust on the curtain valance and the corners of the bathroom floor/along the shower door need to cleaned.

Safety concerns as door closes so slowly that someone can come into your room.

The shower door handle came out of its hinge and the shower floor was so slippery my son fell.

Be aware some rooms like ours did not have a fridge,microwave and couch.The bed was uncomfortable and the entry door was difficult to open.Choose carefully

Now it is just before 10:00am and the attendant starts pulling the glass panel doors closed.

Ducks and Geese are blocking the door ways and practically begging you to feed them.

The room had a connecting door, which I had explicitly said I did not want in comments when making the reservation online.

The walls are really thin and you can hear conversations from the hallway and next door.
