Comfortable sun lounges, very friendly staff.

People are just so jolly friendly up here.

For me the two things that make Headlam Hall special are the location (in its extensive and immaculately kept gardens) and the staff ( from reception, to the cleaning staff, to the serving staff and bar staff)  - they are all so friendly and accommodating.

Super friendly staff, lovely rooms, spa, restaurant and gardens.

Firstly I must mention the service, which was attentive, welcoming, friendly and yet professional; delivered with such ease it made us feel like we were the only guests there.

I absolutely loved the treatments and found the therapist Rachel I think her name was so friendly and really knowledgable.

Staff were all brilliant; friendly and helpful from the first to the last.

In the restaurant on the evening it was a beautiful setting with really friendly staff, and very attentive.

I booked to play 9 holes and the friendly Pro shop team of Darren, Shirley and Lucy couldn’t have been more helpful.

I found all the staff, waiters, barmen, cleaners et al to be extremely attentive, friendly and efficient.

but he really enjoyed it , delicious puddings of sticky toffee pudding and bakewell tart followed  all delivered by friendly and efficient staff.

The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and attentive whilst still being discreet.

Wonderful overnight stay, upon check on met by friendly attentive staff, the character of the building is beautiful and seemed even more so magical this time of year.

The Spa was lovely as was the attached brassiere - had a lovely massage too .. 
Lastly, all the staff were excellent, friendly and attentive and nothing is too much trouble.

We were so well looked after and it would be difficult to find more helpful, friendly and attentive staff.

All staff with whom we came into contact were pleasant and friendly.

The owners are lovely too, and very approachable and friendly.

but she shouldn’t take anything away from the others who were friendly and professional.

but very pleasant as well as the spa staff being friendly.

Otherwise a lovely stay and a challenging golf course too.

I could go on and on about this beautiful building, it’s lovingly maintained grounds, golf course and spa facilities,

The room was lovely, the dinner was great and 9 holes on a super fun golf course.

The hotel's setting is very good, with nice little walks around the grounds, tennis courts and  9 hole golf course complete the break.

The steady flow of traffic from outside visitors to the spa and golf course as well as guests, meant that for much of the time the room was far from peaceful.

We'd been booked into one of the spa rooms, with a balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens & golf course.

Personal friendly service from local staff, nice rooms, good food and facilities such as the spa and nine hole golf course.

Me and a friend recently played at this golf course, firstly all the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, the pricing was very reasonable, the range is absolutely superb and the course condition also excellent even following a lot of rain.

This is a family run hotel that offers a very friendly and personal service in a stunning setting with delightful gardens, a golf course and a spa.

It has a spa, pool, golf course and tennis courts.

Lovely small hotel with  spa and pool, large gardens with nine hole very well kept golf course attached ( husband loved it ) .

The room (lavender suite) was spacious and clean if a little plain, with views from the living room over the golf course.

It’s a country house hotel with an attached golf course and excellent Spa.

The hotel has a small golf course attached which is good value for money and fun even for some experienced golfers.

It also had tennis courts, gym and golf course if that’s your thing.

Grounds are beautiful and worth a wander around.

Our room was situated on the ground floor of the Coach House.

Everything from arriving on the grounds and being showed around the site to our room, the food, the staff and the rooms were just amazing!

I am a member here and always am welcomed and treated so well--the spa staff ( Rachel) is amazing and i use this as a therapeutic break--the staff overall are helpful and very attentive --Main restaurant food is special -the atmosphere clean environment and grounds are magical

The grounds are absolutely stunning, and the buildings are beautiful.

The hotel grounds are quite large and enjoyable for walking round, there are also some good local walks and a guide is provided at reception.

My mother was put in the Lilac room in the Mews, on the ground floor, at first she really liked the style of the room and the great bathroom

Beautiful room, loved the spa, beautiful grounds to walk around and great food in the restaurant.

The staff were all outstanding in their helpfulness, the food was excellent, all rooms and public spaces felt clean and safe and the grounds looked beautiful.

The grounds are kept in excellent condition and make for a perfect spot to have a glass of wine in the sun!

but will not now return due to poor service and staff attitude.

The welcome was poor and the remainder of the staff including the bar and waiting staff did not smile or try to.make conversation I found this made us not relaxed 
On checkout we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay so all in all not a good experience

We have visited, eaten and stay at Headlam a few times so we were all looking forward to our visit, as expect it was immaculately presented, the grounds beautiful as always, however we did feel the service was rather poor today very different in respect of our previous stays, lunch average in terms of portion and just the taste was bland we did feel the dessert portions very small, a couple of requests were made throughout the meal and they had not been followed through, this was a treat today from our children for fathers day and I just felt sorry for them paying a large bill,

but a criticism of the poor sound proofing design of the Coach House.

pretty poor standards and not what I've come to expect from headlam Hall having visited a number of times previous.

Had a ribeye steak that wasn’t cooked as I asked and was just poor quality and fatty.

But breakfast very poor, cold beans over done pouched eggs.

We had an issue with poor service at breakfast on the first morning

but lighting was poor even with lamps switched on & not much natural light came through the window as there was net curtain across.

Check in was not until 3.00am which is pretty poor when you are attending a wedding which starts at 1.00pm.

The grilled tomato was poor and didn't actually appear to have been grilled. The bacon was nice and crispy, the mushroom was nice (but more than one would have been good!)

To me that showed poor planning of their stock and that they did not appreciate our custom.

If you have slightly poor eyesight this is the luxury hotel for you.

We also found service in the restaurant to be poor with the staff verging on rude.

but I did think that  the prices charged  ( about £220 DBB for a couple and rather less than that for a single room )  represented poor value  and would have required much better food to justify them

Sound proofing in  the room I stayed in was poor; I could hear the person in the room above me moving around and when they ran water it sounded like they were power washing their room.

The spa was nice and relaxing with decent facilities.

Spa was very quiet and relaxing with everything working and just the right temperature.

I had dinner in the bar area which had a nice relaxing atmosphere and the food didn’t disappoint either.

We cannot wait to return to Headlam Hall for another relaxing luxurious stay.

All in all and excellent place to unwind and spend a few days living a life of luxury.

This supposes to be a relaxing weekend for us.

The food is fabulous, and what I look forward to most is walking into the dining room in the evening to be greeted with relaxing tinkly music, and candles on every table.

It is a nice place and very relaxing, the spa is small

From the moment we arrived and checked in we started to unwind.

There's a great little spa for relaxation.

The ambience  in the hotel was also relaxed

Really super place, very relaxing, felt very much like a valued guest.

This was our first hotel stay since the start of the lockdown and it couldn’t have been more relaxing.

The massage was very relaxing and I felt comfortable immediately with the masseuse, the spa facilities were fabulous, however the hot tub and the steam room were out of action, which made the spa a little restricting, we understand this is not their fault due to a leaky pipe

The food I had was very tasty and nothing is too much trouble for the staff .

We used to go to Headlam quite a lot for meals and family celebrations

We had a private room for Sunday lunch with patio doors opening onto the terrace .

The dinner was very good and was reasonable value in with the package.

The evening meal was excellent ( lots of choice, top quality ingredients and perfectly cooked).

Food was much better than expected, especially the evening dinner specials / pistachio cake and hake with crab sauce especially good!

The menu is inspired, delivering local fresh produce cooked to perfection and pairing flavour combinations a cocktail mixologist would be proud of.

We all had treatments and lunch included in the offer , the food was beautiful I had the beef and lemon tart and it was really nice 10/10 .

Dinner was very nice and all perfectly cooked, with sides included as part of main course and not an extra like some other inclusive menus.

But the best part for me was the food, it was amazing!

We have visited many times and the restaurant just gets better and better.

The starters were varied and the desserts excellent.

Food was great.. definately compliments to the chef.. the fillet of beef was cooked and seasoned to perfection 5*

The room was also nice, no complaints there.

On approaching the dining room I gave my name again and was asked if I had booked - yes, I had booked.

A very well appointed room that was in the main hall is what we had, must admit it was very spacious, separate toilet and a very modern bathroom with a free standing bath and a huge walk In shower, all with quality fittings.

The room was very nice and spacious with a 4 poster and small lounge area.

The rooms in the main hall were fabulous and spotlessly clean.

The spa facilities seemed quite new, the pool was very clean and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, sauna and steam room.

Our jaws dropped upon entry into our bedroom in particular (Lyme - room 8 on the first floor), which is very tastefully furnished and comes with a bathroom fit for a queen!

Sunday night DBB stay in Spa room with 2 hour spa session.

We checked in and were in a spa room which was like a small apartment, and for the money we couldn’t believe how much space we had.

Check in was simple and my room was superb.

We stayed in the Lord Gainford four poster suite which is absolutely worth paying extra for, it is one of the most stunning rooms I have ever stayed in.

but we checked in and were shown to out rooms straight away.

We had a lovely room in the Main Hall which was bigger than expected.

This place is lovely, plenty of space, nice setting, good rooms and great staff.

Many thanks to Rachel for the back massage, it was certainly up there with the best massages I’ve ever had.

Overall, this is one of the best “historical spa hotels” we have been too.

The spa at Headlam is stunning, lots of places to relax whether it be indoors or outdoors.

The hotel and spa was immaculately presented it had everything you could ever need and the furnishings inside and out were lovely even fluffy blankets if you got a bit chilly .

We went into the spa which is part of the package and love how they keep it to a small amount of people.

My three female guests enjoyed a spa experience, and remarked that it was top quality.

We paid £20 to access the spa which was a bargain.

Let's be honest, this was the purpose of our visit to relax in the spa..

Once they left there was plenty of space and facilities are good despite the steam room being out of order.

Excellent stay - lovely country house with a fab spa.

Room was very comfortable , and we used the swimming pool , and had a very good massage .

We had a spa room mini suite which, as the name suggests, is in the spa building which is a short walk from the hotel.

it is quiet mansion changed to the hotel with very knowledgeable staff specially bartenders very helpful reception and great cook whole place make you travel back in time.

The staff were amazing - nothing was too much trouble for them and the venue snd gardens were fantastic .

The staff were excellent and very accommodating.

Daniel and his entire team should be extremely proud of what they’ve achieved and I have no doubt that a highly successful and award winning future awaits them all.

This morning before breakfast we gave polite and fair feedback to the receptionist about our experience, which she apologised for.

The customer service from all staff is second to none.

My compliments go to the Chef and his staff.

I can't speak too highly about this hotel and in particular the staff, the service, helpfulness and politeness are a credit to the hotel.

Staff without exception very helpful and polite, room comfortable and with added little touches, good breakfast with options and choices, enjoyed our stay for a local family wedding nearby and will return.

but enjoyed a superb breakfast of well cooked, and well presented, food tailored to your requirements from an extensive menu.

We enjoyed the variety of breakfast and dinner choices and all the staff were friendly and attentive.

We had the Sunday roast and the breakfast in the morning, all beautifully cooked.

Also at breakfast on Wednesday morning the waitress wasn't polite at all and made us feel like we were a nuisance.

Our deal included breakfast every morning and two evening meals.

Breakfast very disappointing too, previously there was a wide selection of pastries, fresh fruit, juices, meats and cheeses.

Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and the Evening meals were very good.

The woman showing me to the breakfast table clearly had better things she could have been doing and definitely had people skill issues.

A team member even moved his car so I could park better for my stay and then as I left after breakfast they gave me a coffee in my reusable cup for the long journey home.

Breakfast included, well presented and wholesome.

We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was tasty and well presented ( they kindly brought us out a chocolate plate to say happy anniversary) and breakfast on both mornings was plentiful and delicious .

Had a beautiful meal at the King's Head tonight, the food was delicious, the service brilliant and the whole ambience was wonderful, we would recommend to anyone we will be back thank you so much, it was the perfect end to our weekend here we love Richmond

but waited 28 minutes for my breakfast, at which point the toast was stone cold and I had

but, again, too cold for its size with only the towel rail providing heat.

unfortunately, the weather being very cold meant that the room stayed cold until a heater was provided (after asking).

Overall we had an enjoyable stay with the only negative being served a cold roast dinner which was replaced on the Sunday evening and a lukewarm meal the next evening.

Mash was served cold minus crispy bacon, sent back and bunged in the microwave and re served.

When the food came (apparently cooked to order) it was evident that it had been sitting around waiting to be served - steak continuing to cook, vegetables becoming cold. etc.

Breakfast was different, because of covid restrictions, as we had to order from staff, rather than chose from a buffet-style cold selection,

The only thing I would say was that there wasn't much choice for desserts, our family like a warm pudding with custard and most of the desserts were cold sundaes etc.

But also, our room was very cold, the radiator hardly through any heat out at all.

but I must, the shower was either scolding hot or freezing cold.

However, my vegetables were lukewarm ( passable ) and the potato was ' stone cold ' and inedible.

Only one complaint, the room was cold and we tried turning up the radiator

but could have a better cold breakfast selection.

The bar area was cosy and warm ( it was cold and windy outside).

but mine was cold, suggesting it had been sat waiting for the other meals to be ready.

This is a lovely hotel and everything about it is first class except that our room was on the third floor and the room radiator was not working on the first really cold night of the year.

From the moment we walked through the door we were met by Smiling Friendly staff who did everything they could to make our stay a memorable one.

although all the staff were lovely and friendly.

A big call out to the staff who are so friendly and helpful.

The staff were young and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us and they made our dog really welcome.

We just take for granted now that hotels are disabled friendly.

Ancient and modern at it's best.The room was well appointed with a large comfortable bed and views over the town's cobbled market place.

The location was central on the market square and accessible for all the local shops, cafes and pubs - definitely visiting again!

The location in the market square is perfect and the evening meal was very nice too.

We were in room 103, a Superior Double room which was spacious, very clean and located on the first floor fronting the market Square.

Lovely market town with plenty to see and do.

Located in the centre of historical Richmond overlooking the Market Place - cobbled streets!

There is a large market place/square with cobbled streets leading off it – there is a castle in the centre of the town and a river with unusual waterfalls.

It's not the cheapest place to eat on the market place

There is also a disc system to park for free in the market square in front of the hotel.

This hotel is in the market square in Richmond within easy walking distance of the castle, museums and theatre.

We had lunch here yesterday and sat outside watching the hustle and bustle of the market square.

The hotel is in a great location on the market square and easy to walk from Nuns Close car park.

We passed the Kings head on a previous visit to Richmond and booked it as it has such a great location in the market square meaning we could park the car and explore on foot.

Hotel perfectly situated in Market Square, rooms, all public area's spotless.

The hotel is located in the market square surrounded by a lovely selection of shops, cafe's and eating places.

Coaching inn, dog friendly, situated central location in Market Place with plenty of free parking overnight.

We paid for parking with travelling with a dog and were pleased we had done this ahead of our journey, as parking in the market place on a sunday, was difficult and very short stay.

Obviously this hotel is in the market place so was woken early morning by utility vehicles.

£26 pound overall and I would’ve been offended to have paid half of that for the overall standard of food and the staffs poor conduct and general attitude. 1*

but the service was poor never offered drinks refill sat waiting over 20 mins with our finished plates in front asked for condiments during meal never came back with any decided to call it a day pay and leave without having deserts very disappointed with the experience
