Breakfast was good  I recommend the eggs Benedict.

We booked a dine and stay break which included a 3 course dinner and breakfast with a double room in the main building.

The evening meal was excellent ( lots of choice, top quality ingredients and perfectly cooked).

Next morning we had a lovely breakfast and another visit to the spa which you must book prior I should mention.

This morning before breakfast we gave polite and fair feedback to the receptionist about our experience, which she apologised for.

Everything, including the bread rolls were home made and beautifully fresh.

I had roast chicken with stock pot risotto - delicious.

followed by a fondant chocolate of course and  sticky toffee pudding which i like cold with lashings of chocolate sauce and ice cream

breakfast usual cerals choice of juices  i opeted for the full english which was amazing hubby had eggs benedict which was two poached eggs with ham    on a muffin with hollandaise sauce

a  truly amazing experience will be back soon

For our 40th wedding anniversary, we had a dinner, bed and breakfast here.

Food in both the restaurant and at breakfast was generally good.

We had breakfast and dinner in the pannelled dining room and were superbly looked after by Daniel.

The lunch menu was really good value for money, great choice and all delicious, we tried across the menu between the four of us.

Dinner was as usual excellent and breakfast to.

Otherwise a lovely stay and a challenging golf course too.

I could go on and on about this beautiful building, it’s lovingly maintained grounds, golf course and spa facilities,

The room was lovely, the dinner was great and 9 holes on a super fun golf course.

The hotel's setting is very good, with nice little walks around the grounds, tennis courts and  9 hole golf course complete the break.

The steady flow of traffic from outside visitors to the spa and golf course as well as guests, meant that for much of the time the room was far from peaceful.

We'd been booked into one of the spa rooms, with a balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens & golf course.

Personal friendly service from local staff, nice rooms, good food and facilities such as the spa and nine hole golf course.

Me and a friend recently played at this golf course, firstly all the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, the pricing was very reasonable, the range is absolutely superb and the course condition also excellent even following a lot of rain.

This is a family run hotel that offers a very friendly and personal service in a stunning setting with delightful gardens, a golf course and a spa.

It has a spa, pool, golf course and tennis courts.

Lovely small hotel with  spa and pool, large gardens with nine hole very well kept golf course attached ( husband loved it ) .

The room (lavender suite) was spacious and clean if a little plain, with views from the living room over the golf course.

It’s a country house hotel with an attached golf course and excellent Spa.

The hotel has a small golf course attached which is good value for money and fun even for some experienced golfers.

It also had tennis courts, gym and golf course if that’s your thing.

Grounds are beautiful and worth a wander around.

Our room was situated on the ground floor of the Coach House.

Everything from arriving on the grounds and being showed around the site to our room, the food, the staff and the rooms were just amazing!

I am a member here and always am welcomed and treated so well--the spa staff ( Rachel) is amazing and i use this as a therapeutic break--the staff overall are helpful and very attentive --Main restaurant food is special -the atmosphere clean environment and grounds are magical

The grounds are absolutely stunning, and the buildings are beautiful.

The hotel grounds are quite large and enjoyable for walking round, there are also some good local walks and a guide is provided at reception.

My mother was put in the Lilac room in the Mews, on the ground floor, at first she really liked the style of the room and the great bathroom

Beautiful room, loved the spa, beautiful grounds to walk around and great food in the restaurant.

The staff were all outstanding in their helpfulness, the food was excellent, all rooms and public spaces felt clean and safe and the grounds looked beautiful.

The grounds are kept in excellent condition and make for a perfect spot to have a glass of wine in the sun!

The welcome was poor and the remainder of the staff including the bar and waiting staff did not smile or try to.make conversation I found this made us not relaxed 
On checkout we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay so all in all not a good experience

We have visited, eaten and stay at Headlam a few times so we were all looking forward to our visit, as expect it was immaculately presented, the grounds beautiful as always, however we did feel the service was rather poor today very different in respect of our previous stays, lunch average in terms of portion and just the taste was bland we did feel the dessert portions very small, a couple of requests were made throughout the meal and they had not been followed through, this was a treat today from our children for fathers day and I just felt sorry for them paying a large bill,

but a criticism of the poor sound proofing design of the Coach House.

pretty poor standards and not what I've come to expect from headlam Hall having visited a number of times previous.

Had a ribeye steak that wasn’t cooked as I asked and was just poor quality and fatty.

But breakfast very poor, cold beans over done pouched eggs.

We had an issue with poor service at breakfast on the first morning

but lighting was poor even with lamps switched on & not much natural light came through the window as there was net curtain across.

Check in was not until 3.00am which is pretty poor when you are attending a wedding which starts at 1.00pm.

The grilled tomato was poor and didn't actually appear to have been grilled. The bacon was nice and crispy, the mushroom was nice (but more than one would have been good!)

To me that showed poor planning of their stock and that they did not appreciate our custom.

If you have slightly poor eyesight this is the luxury hotel for you.

We also found service in the restaurant to be poor with the staff verging on rude.

but I did think that  the prices charged  ( about £220 DBB for a couple and rather less than that for a single room )  represented poor value  and would have required much better food to justify them

Sound proofing in  the room I stayed in was poor; I could hear the person in the room above me moving around and when they ran water it sounded like they were power washing their room.

The spa was nice and relaxing with decent facilities.

Spa was very quiet and relaxing with everything working and just the right temperature.

I had dinner in the bar area which had a nice relaxing atmosphere and the food didn’t disappoint either.

We cannot wait to return to Headlam Hall for another relaxing luxurious stay.

All in all and excellent place to unwind and spend a few days living a life of luxury.

This supposes to be a relaxing weekend for us.

The food is fabulous, and what I look forward to most is walking into the dining room in the evening to be greeted with relaxing tinkly music, and candles on every table.

It is a nice place and very relaxing, the spa is small

From the moment we arrived and checked in we started to unwind.

There's a great little spa for relaxation.

The ambience  in the hotel was also relaxed

Really super place, very relaxing, felt very much like a valued guest.

This was our first hotel stay since the start of the lockdown and it couldn’t have been more relaxing.

Look forward to visiting again soon as we enjoyed our day of relaxation

The massage was very relaxing and I felt comfortable immediately with the masseuse, the spa facilities were fabulous, however the hot tub and the steam room were out of action, which made the spa a little restricting, we understand this is not their fault due to a leaky pipe

Highly recommend Gilroys restaurant (on site), we had an incredible evening meal and the breakfast was also amazing, really good quality local produce well cooked and expertly kept warm.

I'd of given this place a one or zero if not for the delicious breakfast the following day served by excellent and attentive staff.

As for the 'bread' that it was served with - well it was so crunchy it was inedible.

She was rude and bad customer care from Adrian the positives of the stay was dawn on breakfast made us feel super welcome and very efficient, the hotel it’s self holds so much history and lovely in its own way, we will return

Breakfast: ordered eggs royale, description on menu smoked salmon with poached eggs, when it came it was bacon, no explanation given, luckily I eat bacon

Evening meal: there was a group of us, it was a set menu for us with a choice of 3 or 4 starters, mains and desserts.

The breakfast was delicious with a huge range to choose from, much to our 5 year olds delight!

Breakfast was buffet style with drinks and toast served to you.

We found the staff very friendly and attentive and would single out a few for special mention - Dawn who was on breakfast duty and always had a smile, Alex who was on reception duty who was so helpful and gave us some great suggestions to visit and Adam who seemed to be involved in everything and was always pleasant.

The breakfast is typical of this style of hotel.

The food was excellent, we both had brilliant evening meals and first rate breakfasts.

although for both breakfast and dinner, we did feel ignored for a while and then urged to get the bill at the end - again just didn't have a great feel service wise.

We had a fabulous experience at The Garage Spa.

Our friends stayed in the garage spa section, they said their room was  nice

This also included an afternoon in The Garage Spa with treatment.

All in all we have had a fantastic stay and will definitely be coming back and will also be booking the garage spa aswell

The Garage Spa is definitely a highlight of The Morritt - I'd really recommend a visit.

The adjoining Garage Spa is outstanding and a great place to relax.

So the garage spa is absolutely amazing staff are lovely and treatments were perfect!

We would love to come and stay here again and have time to have some pampering at the hotel's Garage Spa.

The staff are wonderful and the Garage Spa provides the ideal place to relax and wind down.

but there is no excuse for bad cleaning and poor housekeeping.

Unfortunately he/she didn't bother to come and speak to me the poor waitress had to deal.

Food was incredibly poor and all in all an absolute disappoint I would never ever drive this far again to come here.

This hotel has a lot to offer and I feel a lot of the poor reviews that I read before booking are unwarranted.

It is shockingly tired.Breakfast poor and the one server not really interested in anybody.

Previous poor reviews have been responded to with management complaining that it’s difficult to get hospitality staff.

The bed was not fit for a good nights sleep due to the very poor mattress and noise when turning in bed.

No TV, (although when we queried the lack of TV the next morning we were informed that there was no reception due to tower being down - this should have been explained on check-in) poor WIFI.

however food poor although the breakfast room was a pleasant room 

Would never return.

but the poor waitress seemed to be a bit rushed off her feet taking everyone's orders.

Breakfast was not what it said on the menu and the quality and portions were poor.

The bed was a double (4'6"), not a king-sized, and was hard and uncomfortable, with poor quality Ponden Mill pillows and the kind of cheap bed linen you expect from a budget hotel.

but classic - white walls, white bedding and see through cheap curtains - very poor - the only positive was it’s cleanliness

This could be a super hotel in a delightful location and all the ingredients are there but it needs a professional to get a grip to allow it to live up to its potential 

Final comment to compliment the staff - it’s not their fault - they only work here and at least they’ve got jobs

What a disappointing stay

but breakfast was very poor - our bacon had obviously been waiting for some time before being placed on cold plates with other lukewarm items.

The service is shocking, there are only a handful of staff to serve hundreds of dinners - most tables are complaining and the food we have been served is poor and in some cases dangerous.

Overight stay in very nice hotel spoilt by poor customer service and poor quality bar food very expensive.

but carpet smells of stale beer which you can smell as soon as you walk in.

We tried to check into the hotel at 2.30pm and were basically told to go away until 3pm, when we did get in the room it was a big disappointment, dirty carpet, peeling paint, rotten windows and the most uncomfortable bed with a thin old mattress.

I went here for a wedding recently, upon arrival I was stunned how dated the interior was, how cheap and nasty it felt with old fashioned 1970's layouts and don't even get me started on the flies!

He was stumbling and when we got our meal we had to wait 5mins for him to actually bring us cutlery and the smell of alcohol was definitely a scent on him,

Carpet badly soiled and desperately in need of cleaning or renewal.

When we got back we went into the bar for a drink, the bar smelled dirty and of stale vinegar and the bar itself was covered in spilt drinks.

Countless cobwebs, dust on all skirting boards, filth on window frames, dirty carpet, damp patch on ceiling and worst of all - broken ceramic tiles on bathroom floor which could draw blood if not careful.

Our room (8) had brown damp marks on the ceiling, black mould round the windows, stains on our duvet cover, a poor excuse for a bed and mattress, round toilet seat on a square toilet, the attention to little details here have been long forgotten about.

Our outlook was partially obscured by frosted glass 3/4 of the way up the windows, peering over this we had a pleasant view of the roofs below and the rusty industrial ducting from the kitchens…The room itself smelt like a combination of a dirty vacuum bag and feet!

a video was sent to the hotel showing the dirt that came off the shower wall, to be frank, disgusting.

The chips accompanying the steak were also disgusting.

We were offered a room outside the hotel which was super hot, radio seemed broken and the toilet was filthy and it was stinking!

The loo was filthy and the features were missing compared to the picture displayed on their website again,  did not match with furniture missing and cheap dirty carpet.

The room was dirty - shower was covered in mildew, and carpets filthy.

The hotel gardens had overflowing ashtrays and old food and glasses left on tables.

Filthy carpets, tiles, flimsy rubbish curtains, Window painted shut, bed from circa 1902 just disgusting

Charged for a breakfast which was rancid.

I booked this hotel as I had used the spa a few years ago when it first opened and thought it would be a nice spa break - big mistake!

We had the spa to ourselves for most of the day.

It was ok, sauna wasnt at all warm enough.

Booked a one night stay at The Morritt Hotel as advertised 'luxury hotel and spa' for our anniversary.

Will hopefully book to stay over to use the full facilities and spa.

This was our second visit to the Morritt and Spa Hotel.

We are booked in for a relaxing spa package and overnight stay at the hotel, (that's already been paid for) I couldn't feel any more unrelaxed about it at the moment as I am dreading what we are going to face when we arrive especially after reading all of the recent reviews.

We booked 2 rooms for 4 friends on a spa break deal.Both rooms were clean and pleasant,beautiful toiletries provided.The treatments were excellent in the spa and our only criticism was the odd afternoon tea which came with abundant pastries and frozen mini magnums !

We have enjoyed a recent 2 day Spa Break in this lovely hotel.

This hotel has huge potential to be a nice chic boutique hotel with the modern spa.

As the hotel has a spa on the premises I mistakenly assumed that guests could have free access to the spa facilities.

Apparently they had emailed me again that morning to ask what date I had wanted the massage booked for!

I asked for a deep muscle back massage and she adapted the treatment to suit my needs.

The Spa facilities were excellent , clean , not overcrowded at all and the treatments were fabulous- a particular hit was the “hot” outdoor hot tub looking out over the fields - often they’re aren’t hot enough

Fortunately the girls at the Spa are very polite and helpful, we were issued a refund for the over payment of the room.

There were a couple of (some unavoidable) issues, we had booked the spa

but this did not detract from the spa as there were still plenty of facilities available to use.

Enjoyed breakfast and dinner was very good in both nights, did use the spa as full while we stayed, gardens were a definite highlight

I would really recommend a treatment if you are visiting the spa - members of the group who had facials/ manicures/ pedicures were also really pleased with their results.

We booked the spa and hotel for our birthday weekend.

The spa facilities are just amazing, perfect for a relaxing get away without having to travel too far or pay a ridiculous amount.

The staff are very helpful, professional and friendly in both the hotel and the Spa, which we spent a few hours being pampered, we would definitely recommend this hotel and its facilities

First, we went into the Spa which, in my opinion, is one of the best in the area.

I booked to stay here for 2 nights with a spa package added, couldn’t fault the spa at all!

The spa facilities which wer next door were Amazing with just enough things to do inside and out , i had a Massage extra as a little treat which was very relaxing , The hotel would have got top marks

but enjoyed a superb breakfast of well cooked, and well presented, food tailored to your requirements from an extensive menu.

We enjoyed the variety of breakfast and dinner choices and all the staff were friendly and attentive.

We had the Sunday roast and the breakfast in the morning, all beautifully cooked.

Also at breakfast on Wednesday morning the waitress wasn't polite at all and made us feel like we were a nuisance.

Our deal included breakfast every morning and two evening meals.

Breakfast very disappointing too, previously there was a wide selection of pastries, fresh fruit, juices, meats and cheeses.

Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and the Evening meals were very good.

The woman showing me to the breakfast table clearly had better things she could have been doing and definitely had people skill issues.

A team member even moved his car so I could park better for my stay and then as I left after breakfast they gave me a coffee in my reusable cup for the long journey home.

Breakfast included, well presented and wholesome.

We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was tasty and well presented ( they kindly brought us out a chocolate plate to say happy anniversary) and breakfast on both mornings was plentiful and delicious .

Had a beautiful meal at the King's Head tonight, the food was delicious, the service brilliant and the whole ambience was wonderful, we would recommend to anyone we will be back thank you so much, it was the perfect end to our weekend here we love Richmond

unfortunately, the weather being very cold meant that the room stayed cold until a heater was provided (after asking).

Overall we had an enjoyable stay with the only negative being served a cold roast dinner which was replaced on the Sunday evening and a lukewarm meal the next evening.

Mash was served cold minus crispy bacon, sent back and bunged in the microwave and re served.

When the food came (apparently cooked to order) it was evident that it had been sitting around waiting to be served - steak continuing to cook, vegetables becoming cold. etc.

Breakfast was different, because of covid restrictions, as we had to order from staff, rather than chose from a buffet-style cold selection,

The only thing I would say was that there wasn't much choice for desserts, our family like a warm pudding with custard and most of the desserts were cold sundaes etc.

But also, our room was very cold, the radiator hardly through any heat out at all.

but I must, the shower was either scolding hot or freezing cold.

However, my vegetables were lukewarm ( passable ) and the potato was ' stone cold ' and inedible.

Only one complaint, the room was cold and we tried turning up the radiator

but could have a better cold breakfast selection.

The bar area was cosy and warm ( it was cold and windy outside).
