Andy, chef and owner, will whip you up a fabulous breakfast and or dinner, my suggestion being the Thai green curry.

It didn't stop there - we were treated to a lovely cooked breakfast in the morning.

When we told our kindly host, Andrew Raven, about our dilemma over breakfast, he could not have been more helpful.

Andy was an excellent and helpful host and breakfast was a real treat with all dietary requirements catered for.

The rooms spotlesly clean and warm (in a kiwi autumn) and the breakfast is superb.

Breakfasts were included and we had various omelettes and other delicious options with lots of good coffee.

The meals he prepared were delicious and nicely plated.

The grounds are gorgeous, the owner lovely and the breakfast delicious!

The value of the staying a night at the Lodge and for breakfast was well worth it.

This is the old villa that was the first headmaster of whangarei house ,relocated and set among the most relaxing and lovely layout grounds,it was really relaxed atmosphere welcome was great ,rooms just couldn't be faulted,the cooked breakfast was absolutly superb,I thing the owner must of been a chef from another life ,thanks lupton house for a lovely stay

Our dinner was excellent (lamb and salmon), and breakfasts were very nice as well.

He also provided carb free cooked breakfasts for us each morning.

Breakfast was great - Andy accomodated my breakfast request kindly, and we were on the road, right on schedule.

Heat pump was on when we arrived which meant the room was not cold.

We happened to arrive on a cold night, and my one comment is that the bathroom was quite cold and I couldn't see a heater.

but was still a bit too cold for us accustomed to Queensland temperatures.

The grounds of the B&B are superbly kept with a substantial sized pool (we were there in october so it was too cold to go swimming).

They were very knowledgeable about the local area and sent us off to a magical day trip to Tutukaka and to a few quiet swimming spots, not that we went swimming (too cold).

Only one warning-really slow down when you think you are nearing the driveway as it will come right up and is narrow. Take note of the sign, it is a white oval (?)

The insides need a real clean including the mold on the ceiling fans.

All rooms had air conditioning including the bedrooms in the apartment.

even though we ran the ceiling fan  The windows didn't open very far.

The only disappointing aspect was the lack of airconditioning in the room.

but rooms have no ac if you come in February you will suffer , the restraint has a limited selection of food and if you are a vegetarian your selection will be very limited there are no safes but reception will keep your valuables in a drawer .

but if you are used to aircon then make sure you request a room with it.

The only thing that I would’ve liked was air conditioning in the rooms, it was summer and really hot, there was a ceiling fan which was nice and cool if you sat under it.

The only respite is 2 x $20 40cm fans, sorry

All of this being said, this venue lets itself down substantially by having NO AIRCONDITIONING in the rooms.

The heat in the rooms was unbearable noisy ceiling fan and stand up fan in the rooms highlighted the issues they must have with hot rooms

I would revisit without a doubt if they are able to instal air-conditioning until then will choose other accommodation to visit during the summer months.

Would not recommend this place anytime other than coldest winter period UNLESS they install airconditioning.

Unfortunately, the rooms had no AC and my room faced the afternoon sun. URGH.

We aware the hotel is considering either air-conditioning and / or screens on windows and balcony doors.

There is a restaurant on the ground floor that serves, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It was one of the best 'big breakfasts' that I have had.

Oceans has a restaurant, Waihi where we enjoyed coffee and good cooked breakfasts.

If I was in the area I would go to the hotel for breakfast as their breakfast menu was interesting and delicious.

Eating was no problem at all at their restaurant which served wholesome breakfasts and dinners.

but the ice cream Parlour next door is awesome offering delicious flavors.

There's a restaurant attached that was good for breakfast, and is reputed to be very good for dinner, too (although we only had breakfast).

but we didn’t get a discount for breakfast as mentioned in another review.

Food in the restaurant was great (both breakfast and dinner).

Great value nicely cooked breakfast pancakes were popular with the kids I loved the bacon and eggs and tomatoe breakfast I ordered and coffee is great too service is friendly and inside  decor a bit worn

The hotel room had a little balcony which at $150 wasn't bad, and a great restaurant attached .Bacon and eggs for $12 and my favourite chicken congee with lots of ginger for $14 and dinner in the restaurant was good too lamb fillets with felafel and yoghurt .

Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and well priced.

Next day we had breakfast in the restaurant where the food came quick, was plentiful and reasonable.

We are at Wahi over the weekend for breakfast and dinner and the food was excellent.

We enjoyed a lovely breakfast at the hotel in the morning and loved taking a walk along by the marina.

The only negative is the ceiling is a little thin and can hear those above walking on the hard floor.

Whilst I'm sure as a winter venue it would be beautiful, in the height of summer, the rooms were almost unbearably hot - extremely unpleasant, and barely compensated for by the ceiling and upright fans provided.

Yes they had a ceiling fan (noisy and thumping).

Room was very stuffy, so we opened the windows, turned on the ceiling fans and found a floor fan.

No air conditioning and the ceiling fan was situated quite far away from the bed so it got quite hot and stuffy

There is none, just a noisy clicking ceiling fan!

The ceiling fan was not quite cutting it.

The room had broken items including curtains, and there was not even a plate in the room.

At breakfast only cooked/prepared dishes are served.

Its menu wasn't very varied, and had a strange set up of 'small share plates' and 'large share plates' - I'm not sure they understand what sharing means because they were not shareable.

The cutlery and crockery were dirty and the furniture and fittings were old and shabby.

However, the chef was flexible in providing more than the one vegetarian dish on the menu so that I didn't have to eat the same meal 2 nights in a row.

When it arrived, I was shocked to find that it was actually a cold dish.

Thick towels hang on warmers just in reach of the shower.

The breakfasts are superb and are made with real care.

The facilities are beautiful, products are thoughtful and excellent quality, and breakfast is delicious.

A very comfy bed, well appointed room and fabulous breakfast spread.

Provided breakfast is fresh and delicious with lots of healthy choices.

The details are amazing, full of style , the artwork all around and every detail from the soaps on the bathroom to the generous breakfast spread that miraculously appears each morning this place is special.

The decor is chic and super clean and there is a plentiful supply of beautiful breakfast ingredients.

Kate was incredibly accommodating in every way, she was quick to respond to my emails, kept the house super clean when we went out for our day trip and provided us with so much yummy goodness.

Breakfast is a real treat, and they go out of their way to make your stay extra special.

Kate's breakfast is delicious (and I'll keep coming back for the granola alone) and this is the perfect spot whether diving or just visiting Tutukaka.

Staff are lovely, breakfast is amazing and lots of amenities.

Everything is beautifully presented- the rooms, the communal area, the outdoor area, the breakfast.

And the pool, sauna, and all the finishing touches (including stunning local pottery - that we just had to go to meet the artist and buy some) through to excellent breakfasts.

The breakfast is always delicious with lots of tasty fresh options, and the coffee machine in the room is a real treat.

The continental breakfast had beautiful fruits, yogurts, cereal, and homemade bread just baked that morning.

We loved our pre dinner nibbles by the fireplace and that continental breakfast was delicious!

She ensures that you get whatever you need, be it an excellent brekkie or delicious nibbles with tasty wines.

Head to Lodge 9, an eco-conscious, beautifully constructed, and very relaxing lodge with delicious breakfast and tasty evening tapas.

Kate and her team are so kind and accommodating - the tapas are beautiful, the breakfast is amazing, and if you need travel advice or you’ve locked your room key inside, she will come running.

We also enjoyed takeaway from Ngunguru and yummy pizza from Tutukaka.

There's a shop on site for basic supplies; they also offer breakfast service.

There they prepared our dinner and breakfast.

A short drive to Tutakaka where we had a delicious supper at Schnapper Rock.

The property itself is excellent with a pool, bbq area, laundry, little store,  A continental breakfast (extra charge) was delivered to our room and was very good.

We had breakfast on the deck upstairs in the morning sunshine!

Amazing restaurant down at the Marina - Schnapper Rock - went there both nights and had gorgeous fresh fish, delicious!

This was a great family friendly place, the games room was great entertainment and the spa pools were delicious on a cold winters evening.

Also take spray and cook if you want to make eggs. .

You can also request a continental breakfast from reception the night before for 15 dollars.

We took advantage of their $15/person breakfast option so that we could eat in our room in comfort before starting early for activities.

It was great to have breakfast and afternoon tea on the deck.

Cooking facilities are available to cook your own breakfast and dinner if you want ,

We had breakfast on the deck every morning and watched the boats head out.

We sat out there for drinks and nibbles and also for breakfast.

Breakfast at the Snapper Cafe was perfect and caught some waves at Sandy Bay.

The rooms are more than adequately provisioned and there is a choice of breakfast items that are delievered the day before so you can prepare them at your leisure.

The provisioning of our unit was poor - 3 dish washer tablets, no salt & pepper, minimal toilet paper (1 roll); we had to ask for more.

Only negatives would be tiny bathroom in our apartment and poor WiFi.

Bookings can be made from the Motel for trips to the poor knights Islands both sightseeing and diving.

my partner booked us in for 3 nights and diving the poor Knights islands for my birthday.

A group of us used it as a base camp for diving the poor knights islands and tutukaka coast.

L'endroit est fantastique, plus beau que la bay of Island just devant les poor knight islands.

if your going diving, here is the best place to stay as you can see the poor knights island from the units.

but only for a couple of days, it is a little lacking in things to do when the weather is poor.

The distance from town makes it an extremely poor choice as a location if you don't have a rental care to get back and forth to town, even more so as there are only two car services in town with liited availability.

but poor security, a window latch was broken and the window, at ground level, could not be secured.

butts all over the grass, and the office and host reeks of smoke.

There is a broken rotting small wooden table and 4 chairs which belong in a tip.

I understand that all the units are individually owned therefore you can get a very nice modern one or another  that is old, musty and in need of an upgrade.

In the bathroom when using the hot water in the tiny shower the hot water handle would get so hot you needed to cover your hand with a wash cloth to avoid getting burned when you turned it off.

It smelt musty and damp when we walked in, the tiny bathroom was just plain nasty and,

Probably our unit hadn't been used for a while as our visit was in november and the bedrooms were musty.

The entrance had not been swept in months, it us full of feathers, leaves and the drain was blocked with dirt.

Only slight issue we had was the Wi-Fi being intermittent.

The internet wasn't working and when it got fixed it wasn't usable for video streaming.

We had trouble with wifi & with no screens, I was eaten alive by mosquitos during the warm night.

Wifi was very slow and only get 250mb free.

but the apartment was left open and the entrance code was texted.

The wifi that was available didn't connect for me and couldn't check emails.

One more thing : no unlimited wifi is quite inconvenient for IT people.

the only dissapoinment was lack of wi-fi which I understand the management is in the process of fixing.

If I had to be picky I would say the only down sides are the small free daily wifi allowance (surely unnecessary in these days of unlimited plans) and the lack of gas barbecues (they have some wood fired ones

Something else that was an absolute joke was the free 250MB internet access per day.

Wi-if a problem even with voucher code as signal didn't always work.

Let down somewhat by the service - no milk in the room on arrival and patchy service getting towels / tea towels changed.

Wifi connection is not good, inspite of voucher codes given.

but who goes to tutakaka to spend all time on Internet.

If I should mention a little dent in the paint, it is the internet connection that definitely needs a looking at.

Would have been happy to stay for extended period. Only downside is very spotty wifi connection (which is the case anywhere in New Zealand, so not their fault)

Breakfast on the deck around the firepit looking out to the ocean is such a wonderful experience.

Paul and Suzanne are welcoming hosts and Brad the Chef prepares the most delicious meal seemingly out of thin air.

Exclusive design, beautiful views from the house, feels like in the middle of nature with lots of native birds, kitchen well equipped, beds are perfect: all the ingredients needed for a marvelous stay.

Take your own food, and make use of the well equipped kitchen for a sunrise breakfast on the deck or sunset dinner under the stars.

We started each day with breakfast on the deck while soaking in the views.

I was welcomed to Ara Roa and treated like one of the family throughout my stay enjoying many delicious meals with the Olsen family and their friends.

And plenty of bacon & eggs in the fridge to cook up.

The house is extremely well equipped with the MOST delicious bedding I have ever slept in.

Or take advantage of the Lazy Weekend package, where the hosts will prepare and deliver breakfast and dinner for you.

There was a delicious lamb roast, potatoes, vegetables, dessert and a bottle of wine waiting for us.

But not in our vintage car as it wouldn't make it up the drive.

Whilst the accommodation maybe considered to be a little remote, with a car we didnt find this to be a problem.

Exchanged the car, drove up in silence, barely talking to each other.

but you don't park or enter on the same side as the family who owns the other side.

Keep in mind that there are stairs leading from the parking area to the house which could be a problem if one had trouble walking.

In summary, the “indulgence package” component, which cost us $1470 on top of our accommodation cost of $595 per night, was not great value.

It is not luxurious or boutique  which are their main selling points on the website and the reason, I am sure, why they charge such rate per night.

I had phoned through (from Australia) a couple of weeks in advance to book the accommodation and confirm rates.

Oh and it was included in the price (or it was when we booked)!

The view was spectacular and we loved our breakfasts out on the terrace.

The owners are very friendly hosts, the breakfast is healthy and tasty.

On top of that, they cook a great and plentiful breakfast!

Susy and Brett are wonderful, friendly hosts who do a great breakfast!

And were even served an amazing breakfast!

From our lovely hosts Susy and Brett, to the beautiful views and insanely good breakfast, I could rave about the Light House Lookout for hours.

We had an excellent dinner in the little harbour of Tutukaka, and Susy and Brett served an excellent breakfast in the morning before the boat trip.

The breakfast was first class and the setting delightful.

A “hanging” open-air bath is a great place to spend some time in the evening and the full breakfast (minus coffee) is lovingly done.

Breakfast by the pool was outstanding - top marks to  Bretts bacon, eggs and mushrooms!

The B&B facilities are perfect and the breakfasts are absolutely delicious, with foods to suit all dietary requirements.

The website doesn't do this place justice, you won't be disappointed.
