A complementary cocktail hour in the lobby both evenings, a great restaurant, The Commoner, connected to the lobby, and a very comfortable room.

The room was just amazing , the bed was super comfortable with the best hotel pillows I have slept on in a long time and the attention to detail was spot on.

The beds seemed fairly new and were comfortable.

Overall, it's a comfortable, luxurious hotel.

Housekeeping did a decent job and our room was a good size and comfortable.

The bed was so comfy, lots of power sockets around the room.

What allowed such enjoyment, was the family friendly atmosphere along with the family amenities.

Room was clean and the hotel had a nice vibe to it.

Just a very nice experience, I lived in Pittsburgh troublemaker stations love the city state of the William Penn Inn beautiful hotel I have to also see that this Monaco standing hotel, first greeted by the parking Vales  very friendly very helpful the front desk staff also extremely friendly and welcoming at the core was outstanding clean really nice what do you expect from a captain in the morning they had a beautiful coffee station laid out great restaurant hello rooms were clean spacious really weekly decorated I highly recommend this hotel

A lot of money was spent on the interior design.

The carpets are in like new condition, as were the furnishings.

The hotel is perfectly located to walk to architectural treasures, beautiful parks, and great restaurants.

The room was spacious, tasteful and beautifully appointed, with high end bed and bedding, fun and functional furniture and lighting and an absolutely fabulous bathroom with a freestanding tub and massive shower enclosure.

A valid keycard is required to use elevators at night

The hotel is clearly taking covid-19 precautions seriously, requiring masks in public areas, offering free masks to guests, restricting elevators to 1 guest/family at a time, and so on.

When we had some issues with the elevators we were told half scolded that it was only because the hotel is a "green" hotel so that's why the key/elevator problem occurred.

Also - elevator was so small and could only hold maybe 6 at a time - generously.

However, the key system one uses to go on the elevator leaves much to be desired.

Was just the lift I needed after two flight delays.

We did also experience some interesting dogs in the halls and elevators, making it whimsical too.

We were surprised when we got up there and realized they put us in a room right across from the ice machine and right by the elevators.

So much for Gold Elite status -  I got the crappy room right off the elevator and garbage noise.

Terrible smells throughout elevators, lobby and halls.

The hotel staff was ineffective at controlling both the crowds at the 9th floor elevator, and drunk hotel guests who yelled to each other, chattered and laughed in the hallway after the garden closed, until at least 1:30 a.m.

Our reservation was quickly confirmed and we were headed to the elevator in a matter of moments.

With that done and feeling better about stay, we took the elevator up to the 8th floor, into a hallway that was soothing and colorful.

The elevators are old, small, and sketchy.

Pet friendly, I never heard barking unless we were waiting for the elevator.

Aside from a slight lift issue for one of our guests in a wheelchair.

Although the elevators aren't huge, the staff placed a bartender with a small efficient cart in one elevator with free drinks for guests.

I am a smoker and the rooftop deck was closed so myself and another guy in the elevator had to go out front.

It was centrally locates to the downtown area, restaurants, shops and walking distance to Market Square.

but it is literally downtown near market square and other sights.

They have yoga mats in your closet and we found yoga classes for the public in Market Square.

The location was perfect too -- a quick walk to all the attractions from Market Square to Fort Pitt to PNC Park and Heinz Field.

Convenient for walking, particularly to the heart of downtown and Market Square.

The location is really good as well and is within walking distance of PPG Arena, Point State Park, and Market Square.

This is a good location; near Market Square, good for walking.

Location: city center, five minute walk to Market Square for many restaurants.

Location of hotel is within walking distance of theater district, market square, and the strip.

Great location for Pittsburgh Market Square.

We walked to the Andy Warhol Museum, to Market Square, and the Benedum Theater.

We didn't try it, as the hotel is walking distance to just about everything downtown, including Market Square, and we explored.

It's in a great location, an easy walk to the cultural district, Market Square, etc.

Short walk to Market Square, and good walk to Point State Park and the Strip District.

An easy walk to the Strip District, Market Square and the major sporting arenas make it very desirable.

Loved the location as we could walk all over: the Strip District, Market Square and even the PPG Paint Arena to catch a hockey game just to name a few.

There was a Brunch with Santa on Saturday morning at the Commoner so after the complementary coffee/tea/hot cocoa hour in the hotel, we went to Market Square for breakfast (Cherry's Diner-budget$) and the Christmas Market there was going on during our stay.

Easy walking distance to Market Square and downtown restaurants.

They were so accommodating with our dog which is always a major consideration for us (and no pet fees! Huge bonus!)

Anthropologie, one of my favorite stores, has an outlet at the Kimpton as well as freebies in the form of Pet Amenities and Bikes.

Very accommodating with our small dog as well.

It was also nice to take our small dog to wine reception in the living room.

We've had too many unpleasant experiences at dog friendly.

Our pet loved it as much as we did; we’ll be back, definitely!

The Good - Beautiful hotel, centrally located, freely accepts pets and the parking garage is really close.

When traveling with dogs, and needing an overnight stay, this is the best place in Pittsburgh!

This is truly the dog friendliest hotel we have ever stayed at.

Matt was the bellman who also walked our little dog, Stella.

Loved the decor and seeing everyone's dogs!

Our room was well appointed and very spacious, so we had plenty of room to spread out, enjoy in-room dining and play with our dog.

Not to mention it’s a pet friendly hotel and support COVID-19 efforts .

The beds and bathrooms are luxurious, and the rooms are quiet. The room service is delicious, my dog is super happy here, the amenities (free wine, coffee, no pet fee, etc.)

They are pet friendly, and brought up dog bowls and a luxurious bed - she dug it too.

Also I didn't know that it was pet-friendly so if by chance I stayed in a room where there pets, the room was so clean and odor free that I didn't notice a thing.

When our initial arrival got delayed by our pet, Emily at the front desk was more than happy to help us by modifying our reservation.

Plus being dog friendly adds value to this property.

We loved the location - very walkable to restaurants, Andy Warhol museum, & sports arenas/stadiums.

Morning coffee was available on the mezzanine level and it was also home to the wine hour ( beer & waters too) between 5-6 every day  with some complimentary nibbles too, a nice chance to met fellow guests and chat to the staff - my wine glass was topped up before they cleared away at 6 which was  sweet of them.

Complementary alcoholic drinks were served between 5 &6pm each evening by the staff in the lounge area.

The food was excellent in the restaurant for a nice dinner and breakfast as well.

The Commoner eatery served up a twist on American tavern classics with a great variety of craft beers, creative cocktails and assorted wines.

On-line menu says burger is $19 + 5 (for fries)

We didn’t spend any time in the bar / restaurant

The restaurant and bar have great options.

Front desk has lots of helpful recommendations for brunch and activities.

Second, the bar staff in the restaurant were poorly trained.

Enjoyed the morning coffee and evening beverages everyone was very helpful the rooftop restaurant with wonderful views was an added bonus.

A nightmare of an evening traipsing around the construction in the city-except for the amazing new restaurant we found around the corner, who obviously works at accommodating guests with a smile!

The restaurant attached the The Commoner was delicious.

On-site restaurant, The Commoner, was only ok for drinks and dinner (rather dull, limited menu) 

we did dinners out, some foodie exploration, and the Monaco was a perfect jump off spot.

We have stayed here before and wouldn’t stay elsewhere, the hotel is located central in downtown Pittsburgh walking distance to local restaurants and attractions.

Room service may or may not have been available.

Enjoyed the nightly happy hour as well as The Commoner for Sunday brunch.

Our interactions with her and Libby, in the Commoner restaurant, were memorable and will positively influence our decision about when we return.

The rooftop bar is so nice, as is the complementary happy hour from 5p-6p.

PS Oh, they nicely offered a very good glass of wine upon check in because we could not access the rooftop bar the entire stay.

Lastly, check out the great Biergarten rooftop bar/restaurant.

As well, if one simply would like to stay in you have a choice of a restaurant or the roof top bar (weather and season permitting).

There is a rooftop bar with an amazing selection of German beers and friendly, helpful staff.

Rooftop bar was hot and lacked a scenic view.

They have an excellent restaurant on the property as well as a roof top bar for small bites and drinks.

Later we visited the rooftop bar and enjoyed that too.

We did get a chance to check out the rooftop bar which was nice also and enjoy a couple beers with a massive pretzel.

It's one of the few hotels that has a rooftop bar.

Rooftop bar is not dog friendly so we ventured out to the city for dinner.

There is a rooftop bar which we spent just a little time in (the temperature was in the 90s) and a basement restaurant which serves excellent breakfasts.

We enjoyed the rooftop bar in the evening again with games to play.

The restaurant the Commoner is very good and affordable particularly for breakfast, the rooftop bar very nice .

Arrived late in the evening from London on the British Airways flight , I was checked in promptly and allocated a room on the 8th floor which was also a upgrade and it was lovely.

Rooms were well appointed, quiet, and comfortable.

The room was large and luxuriously appointed.

I think they are cutting back by buying cheap products and moreover, by not offering coffeemakers in every room.

When we got up to our room there was a lovely note wishing my husband a happy birthday with some complimentary treats and Prosecco.

But I'd read about the Mini fridges that Kimpton properties provide for breastfeeding mamas and had one delivered to my room moments after we arrived!

The room was serviced everyday by the housekeepers who ensured we we had given clean towels and the bed was made, thank you!

The staff were all amazing and are a credit to the hotel, I cannot recommend the hotel enough.

A funky ceramic penguin served as a take on the Pittsburg hockey team and more quirkiness was revealed in a eye-popping lime green headboard.

To be fair evening crew at front desk are very nice and helpful.

Staff were really friendly and immediately set out the tier benefits available to us.

Staff was lovely and always willing to help.

Those things aside, the front desk were polite, professional and hospitable.

but professional, however I must give a big shoutout to Mira on the front desk.

Wonderful hospitality from the valet to the staff.

But the staff was extremely kind and helpful.

Again, the Commons couldn’t help us, even when the front desk spoke to them.

No one batted an eyelid at a grumpy customer (I didn’t make a fuss because one should not need to, to get good service).

That is the word to explain this place from checking in, to the restaurant, to the valet, to the hotel cleaning staff.

We checked into the Kimpton for a couples weekend and to celebrate my husband’s birthday.Check-in was effortless and quick.

Our room on the tenth floor was great and we never had to wait long for an elevator.

There was a janitor in the elevator cleaning and wouldn't let anyone get on.

but unproductive, slow elevators, restaurant understaffed, continental breakfast on 14th floor under stocked, rooms spacious but lacking amenities like stationary, furniture… pillow cases with stains, sheets with holes.

Located near an elevator and ice machine so could hear other guests.

Also as a result, there has always been crazy long waits for the elevator in the lobby.

We took the elevator to the mezzanine to wait as the lobby and bar were jammed with wedding guests.

We got a room near the elevator and you hear it everytime it stops on our floor.

Once we settled in for the night all I could hear was the bong of the elevator ALL NIGHT LONG, I called down, I was told they couldn't move us.

but was tipped off when we had to scan our door key in the elevator to access our floor.

Elevators are rather small, can definitely feel cramped with more than a few couples in one at a time.

but the elevator situation is a bit of a nightmare.

The elevator is notoriously slow, so give yourself extra time, or hit the stairs and walk off the pierogis.

Having gotten stuck in an one of three elevators during my with no response from pressing the call

The downsides were that the elevator was always slow and full, for a while during the busiest part of the day only one of three was even operating, and the beds and linens were tired, a generation older than the ones we enjoyed at the Residence Inn and Westin the nights previously.

It looked like one of the elevators was not working so maybe this was a temporary problem.

Negatives:
1) Elevator system is undergoing significant renovations, which means only 2 of the 3 elevators are working.

Because of this, the elevators were slow (only 2/3 elevators were working -- not sure why).

They need to do something about the elevators though.

One of the three elevators never working!

He was friendly & from there took care of us

The staff was helpful and friendly at reception area, coffee shop, and bar.

The folks at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming!

The room was comfortable and beautiful with a view of the river and the staff was friendly and helpful.

As you are greeted by the friendly valet, who always opens the doors for you, you’ll see the cast aluminum dragons that welcome you to The Renaissance, known to be protectors of the structure and all of it’s guests.

Mason checked us in and he was outgoing and very friendly.

They consistently provide top-notch service with an attentive, friendly staff.

All of the staff were friendly and helpful.

The front desk personnel were friendly and tried to be helpful with suggestions for things to do in Pittsburgh during our limited 3-4 hours there.

Very friendly staff, and efficient - got room key quickly and into room on time.

On a positive note, the coffee bar near the elevators was open early and the gentleman making espresso was friendly and extremely courteous.

Front desk staff was very friendly and seemed like they would go out of their way to help.

Check in was fine and the staff was pretty friendly.

My last stay was in 2019 before the world got sideways, and my experience with the staff was positive and candidly, friendly and helpful.

Good location, nice lobby and a comfy bed.

Overall I will stay here again based in location and architecture.

The good: water pressure is good on showers, location is great, hotel is a very cool historical look.

The hotel was conveniently located to walk to PNC park.

Yes, we recommend this hotel for location and staff.

This was the perfect location for our mini vacation which included visits to PNC Park and the Warhol museum {both within walking distance).
