Only one elevator works and my husband is in a wheelchair so no option of climbing stairs.

And yes, there is only one working elevator, which did cause some delays in going up and down from the 5th floor.

however one elevator was down and our room was on the 8th floor.

but last time there was alot of confusion and the elevators stopped working.

A major drawback was, during our stay, only one of the two elevators were functioning, which caused a delay for guests and employees trying to travel from floor to floor.

Not the hotel depicted on their website; Bartendress is great rest of hotel is badly managed, only one elevator mostly in use by the staff- expect long irritating waits; NO BUSINESS CENTER- totally removed and no business services.

One of two elevators is under renovation, which is not disclosed on the website, and creates significant wait times for the sole elevator.

Both elevators were out of order the 3 days we were there.

The hotel lost 2 stars  from me because they didn't enforce the no pets in the breakfast area (I saw multiple that were NOT service animals) and the elevator was out our entire stay.

One of the two elevators was broken and took forever to get up and down.

Elevator broke the entire time…requested housekeeping everyday and only received it 1 day.

The only two downsides were very slow hotel Wi-Fi, and only one (of two) elevators was working, which made for long waits for the elevator.

One of the elevators was down for about 4 days, and it felt like things just didn't run smoothly.

Finally, the elevators are insanely slow.

though - so I can imagine during warmer weather (and after COVID)the area could be quite noisy 

Speaking of COVID- usual protocols are all  in place - masks  for all, wipes available by elevators, no housekeeping without specific requests, clean stickers on doors,  remotes etc - breakfast both served and  self serve depending on what you want to eat -nice to have hot items still available- and you can eat in the restaurant seating just outside the breakfast serving room (some tables closed to allow for distancing) so seconds or drink refills are easy!

We did not see hand sanitizer around, except for one afternoon, there was a hand sanitizer dispenser right by the elevator.

but they are forced to constantly use the elevators and create quite a mess.

The staff is super friendly and accommodating!

The restaurant down stairs was fantastic our bartender Jen I think was friendly and warm and was a great server!

Staff very friendly & efficient.Love the bathroom pump bottles for shampoo etc.

The front desk folks were very friendly and courteous

Every staff member from the front desk to the dinning room, were all good at their jobs and friendly!

The Hampton Inn Virginia Beach Oceanfront North staff were some of the most friendly, accommodating people I've dealt with, and I work in customer service myself.

although our dog is very friendly - it is one less thing to worry about).

Staff at breakfast were super helpful when my son spilled milk everywhere and were very friendly and welcoming.

Special "shout-out" to Buddy who is always taking care of the Hampton Inn with a smile on his face and a friendly greeting!

Fantazzia and Kayla were wonderful, friendly and made sure all of our requests were met.

Beautiful beachfront rooms, tasty hot breakfast, friendly staff, and walking distance to so many activities.

This location has an on-site bar & the bartender was very friendly.

We were put in a room with mold in the shower and an "ocean view" with an unattractive review of the roof below.

but when we checked in we notified one of the blankets in the clean bed had vomit on it like the blanket was being reused.

Non-smoking rooms (although we did smell smoke from someone smoking on their balcony at the place next door on occasion), and no bug problems were also a plus.

If the eating area hadn't been a hassle & pool chemical smell not so strong, the rating would be good to excellent.

Overall the hotel just feels cheap and disgusting.

Only downside was the room next to ours were smoking marijuana on the balcony so we were unable to enjoy the balcony view for one night.

Our visit was after a couple days of rain and there was no musky or mildew smell.

The indoor pool smelled funny and not once did I see someone in there cleaning up after guests.

Minuses: I would say our room and hallways were very clean (except that on the floor of our room I've noticed 2 black musty spots on the carpet  probably from mascara because it stained my fingers after touching it, + couple plastic pieces of wire from tagging off a new item of clothes under the table).

but honestly until this hotel is renovated I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless there is no where else to stay and you get a smoking deal on a nightly rate.

Oh, a disgusting greasy thing which prevented us from walking barefoot or - for that matter - remotely even  touching the furniture (let alone use the bed), the grease, the dirt, that is.

Our tub also had a very slow moving drain

Our balcony had a very strong urine smell which made it unpleasant to sit out there.

The elevators were filthy, dirty carpet, walls streaked with dirt and fingerprints.

Great views, good location, breakfast room staff are amazing.

First the desk at check in was friendly and gave free treats and water.

Night bartender, Caanan, very courteous & efficient.

Staff were very gracious and eager to please.

The employees especially Ms Fantazzia made sure that all my needs were met and then some .

However, one of the staff members mentioned that the elevator repairman was sitting at the bar having a drink that day.

We got an amazing service, all employees we discussed with or met were really nice.

We were greeted by the A team- Ivenia and Janita.

The staff is incredible—friendly, kind, and accommodating.

We also reported the issue to the person at the front desk and she just laughed it off.

She was always pleasant and offering help or answering questions when asked!

We were grateful that this hotel was so accommodating to us.

The elevators half work, walked the stairs 90% of our stay.

but the smell inside the elevator and the hallways was terrifying because of the wet carpets.

but when you get off the elevator upstairs it just has a damp dingy feeling to it.

On our floor, the carpet was frayed and one of the elevators was out for the duration of our trip.

Bonuses:
- Only 1 small, extremely slow elevator is actually working.

There are only 2 elevators--1 was broken and the other took forever so we had to keep using the stairs.

One of the elevators was out of order resulting in long waits from the 9th floor.

Only 1 elevator worked there entire stay, it was finally working the day we left.

Everything was good except  one elevator wasn’t working made it crazy trying to get up or down.

Elevators out of order, ice makers not working, lamps in the room don't work. etc.

Also a high floor room away from the elevator.

Overall we enjoyed our time, I just wish we had a pool or hot tub we could have enjoyed.

On our last night, the elevator stopped working and the maintenance manager immediately went to work to get it fixed.

One of the three elevators was out of order while we were there.

but elevator was out for 2 days with no reason, ice machines on all floors didn't work and check in on Friday was the worst experience I've ever had, only one lady working at 3pm waited over 45 minutes to check in with 5 people in line i realize places are short handed but on a Friday they should had more help this was very frustrating for all in line.

The halls leading to our room looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in weeks, the cleaning lady actually verified they hadn't, the elevators were filthy and one day one of them was out of service completely.

Didn't encounter any issues and the staff were very friendly and helpful in describing the hotel, amenities and things to do in the area.

Entering the room, family noticed a fishy smell. Literally.

Puddle of water on deck as air conditioning has no drainage pipe so it drains on the deck.

Our room was damp, even with the over-worked A/C unit kicking in noisily from time to time.

The amount of trash/clothes/beercans and cigarettes inbetween the hedge and balcony on the first floor was disgusting.

Broken tile and laminate flooring, kids shocked by bathroom light switch, peeling paint, awful odor, fuzzy bathroom ceiling and a blocked fire escape!!

There was a weird smell outside of our room for most of our stay

Upon check in the pillow cases was dirty, there was a mold stain right above the bed , the shower curtain was rusted.

Also at 6 am every day the halls and lobby are filled with a gas smell.

Smelt of weed frequently in common areas. Room/hallway/bathroom in need of repair (missing paint, rusty hardware everywhere (sprinklers, bathroom fixtures, etc.)

Sheets torn, carpet smelly near pool area.

The room was Terrible my shower had black mold on it and the room was just gross it wasn’t even clean!

The staff remembered us from last year, and were very helpful and accommodating, as usual.

The only reason it gets 2 stars was that it was clean and staff were great.

I asked what did I sign for?..he smiled and said it's fine it's fine.

God forbid there be a quiet time, I called and asked fromt desk about queit time and she already knew why I was calling.

Staff rates an A as they try hard (generally) to provide a clean neat facility.

Finally, due to very poor design, the elevators are located such that anyone going to the beach or go to the pool has to travel through the busy lobby area.

The elevator sounds like it’s going to die at any minute .

Although I saw complaints about the elevator we never experienced a wait more than five minutes on the July 4th holiday.

Elevator was not functioning right the first two nights. 2.

even though I didn't complain about the puke in 1 of the 2 elevators on Sunday morning, The valet driver bringing me the wrong car, this hotel is run by crooks who do not care about the customer.

This was concerning, as it left us wondering whether the elevator was safe to use.

1 of the elevators was out of order which caused delays coming and going.

I was nervous when i read the week before that they had elevator issues,

The elevator broke twice causing everyone to use only one which meant ten people to an elevator and no one wearing masks.

The elevator was broken when we got there.

One elevator was not working which led to very long lines.

with the cleaning, one of the elevators which was not working most of our stays and you have to wait in line for 20 minutes each time!

Elevators kept having issues and only 2 for the whole place, so I would recommend a lower level floor in case you have to use the stairs.

The elevator would either skip our floor or would stop at our floor and be fully packed.

I asked to be given a room on a higher floor and away from the elevator.

but if you go in and get in elevators it’s not bad.

It was a hike down 12 flights with the elevator closed, 

I have never had staff to treat me and my family so kindly and be so friendly!

Central oceanfront location with an amazing ocean view from the 13th floor and very friendly staff.

Most hotels we find suitable if they’re clean and have friendly staff,

The parking crew was on time and really friendly.

The food was amazing and the staff is super friendly.

Ronnie from valet parking did a excellent job and was very friendly.

The entire staff was friendly and helpful.

Parking attendants are friendly and deliver your car within minutes.

He was super helpful, fantastic attitude, extremely friendly and exceptionally polite !!!!

Management was very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

The employees are real friendly, especially Hunter and Alyssa at the front desk, they were very helpful for restaurant go to’s.

Every restaurant had child friendly menus.

Great service from check-in to check-out by super friendly staff.

Checkout was not as pleasant because I stayed over and was charged an hourly fee.

Next time I will pay the extra to have it included with the room rate.

Why we had to pay another $20 makes no sense.

We were paying $20/day instead of $15 which was the hotel rate.

Pricey and you can only get the one breakfast meal.

No option to pay cash unless you had exact change for items at concession stand.

but a mattress …breakfast is not free here $15 for I don’t know what you call that breakfast but nothing I would pay $15 for , this hotel is not a place you want to stay they must get the price because it’s Virginia Beach but it’s certainly not worth it.

I even confirmed that once more before hanging up with the Hilton rep because I didn't actually want the card used to hold the rooms to be the one used to pay for the trip and planned on changing cards upon arrival.

We did not know that the breakfast was going to be expensive and not free.

but the website never worked for our group rate for some reason.

Thought it was included with what they were serving,  just to find out it was not & be prepared to pay top dollar for it.

Don’t stay here just because the name has Hilton in it the price you pay the room is average.

We usually stay in hotels that are a little bit cheaper

I complained to corporate and they reimbursed me for the fee,

Not a deal breaker for me as they do not charge a resort fee like some hotels.

When anyone go on vacation they shouldn't have to pay full price for a place who obviously doesn't care about your money because they have thousands of others who wouldn't see eye to eye.

I was offered salmon as an alternative at a slightly lower cost.

Seemed very overpriced for my purpose (business conference at ANOTHER hotel) until I realized it was really a resort hotel.

Our room - 1012 smelled highly of bleach and cleaning products.

Pool was not kept up as far as sweeping or skimming pool with debris from plants etc.

There are smear marks on the ceiling that are disgusting.

When we arrived at our second room, we found dried urine on the toilet seat, which was extremely unpleasant.

There was a dead bug on the bathroom counter and the balcony chairs and table were filthy.

Several bulbs burned out in the bathroom,

The breakfast was disgusting and overpriced.

When we first got to our room, we discovered it had a very nasty stench.

On checkin, we found the hotel filthy, with a moldy smell, dirty unairconditioned hallways, peeling paint, and  a disgusting room.

We checked into the Wyndham hotel to only discover mold, dirt and dust in our room along with a dank musty smell.

Also, upon arrival and the one day we had our room fully cleaned, I don’t believe the floors got washed because our feet were black and filthy from walking barefoot.

Room was on 3rd floor sun deck which is not private, my toddler had bucket of something dumped on her from above floor while on our balcony, room smelled & was noisy.

Otherwise you can get that wet smell that stays in the carpets.

And there was a mildew stain on the ceiling.

Needs power washed and the windows were filthy.

The valet parking was convenient and the head valet Ronnie was especially helpful.

but the room is supplied with a microwave and refrigerator, desk and chair.

Ronnie and Armada  were so kind at the valet services.

He retrieved my vehicle in a timely manner, he was also very informative about other places to visit while staying at the Hilton garden inn oceanfront.

Valet's Ronnie and Ryan always at your service for directions and information, super service, wonderful guys, a pleasure!

Valet was awesome, my wife is handicap Ronnie/ Austin were very helpful .

I have to say a thank you to Charity, Shawnte, and a BIG thankyou to Ronnie.

Ronnie assisted us with moving our luggage.

Front desk staff provided excellent service.

Hilton you struck out with this staff and definitely cost yourself a lot of money.

My husband received a nearly raw omelet because the staff wanted to leave.

Trim around window and door is coming off.

The hotel could use some spruce-up especially the stairwell - we used it a lot as one of the two elevators was out of order. The doors were very difficult to open & close (even to our room.)

maybe change your hours to 7:30am if you cannot open on time just a suggestion to not make your customers wait outside the door too long.

We couldn’t get our balcony door to close all the way and water was leaking in elevator day we left.

but will not be using this comfort suites until management actually renovates and replaces all of the balcony doors and actually fixes the elevators.

The music from the band next door and military planes were a bit loud until about 11:30pm,

The metal frames on my balcony was very rusted and the door had a crack underneath it allowing the wind to enter and make noise .

We had trouble opening the door to the balcony (apparently recent painting made it stick) and Rosemary immediately shifted us to a different room.
