We stayed 4 nights…watched the sunrise over the ocean from our balcony every morning…saw the dolphins from our room.

Best part☆ Balcony was overlooking ocean

Don't choose this place for the "breakfast included"
At 8 am.

The rooms are wonderful, the balcony view is fantastic and the pool is great when you can't get on the beach.

The rooms have a private balcony that overlook the Boardwalk, the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier, and of course, the ocean.

View from the balcony was great, breakfast was good.

While the facility itself could use some improvement, the ocean view and balcony were fantastic.

We got the wonderful 2 story room with 2 sofa beds and a separate king bedroom with the balcony overlooking the ocean.

Right on the beach and with balconies overlooking the surf, this is a great centrally located hotel.

You can enjoy watching and listening to the waves crash right from your room with a balcony overlooking the boardwalk.

Only redeeming factor was view from balcony and proximity to beach.

Very nice room with a good view of the ocean right off of our balcony.

The only positive thing was the view from the balcony and the hotel staff.

I stayed on the 7th floor with a nice oceanfront balcony.

We had a two queen bed room with a balcony overlooking the beautiful ocean front.

The ocean view balcony was worth it for us to hang outside after the kids went to bed.

The elevators half work, walked the stairs 90% of our stay.

but the smell inside the elevator and the hallways was terrifying because of the wet carpets.

but when you get off the elevator upstairs it just has a damp dingy feeling to it.

On our floor, the carpet was frayed and one of the elevators was out for the duration of our trip.

For 2 people a day
Bonuses:
- Only 1 small, extremely slow elevator is actually working.

There are only 2 elevators--1 was broken and the other took forever so we had to keep using the stairs.

One of the elevators was out of order resulting in long waits from the 9th floor.

Only 1 elevator worked there entire stay, it was finally working the day we left.

Everything was good except  one elevator wasn’t working made it crazy trying to get up or down.

Elevators out of order, ice makers not working, lamps in the room don't work. etc.

Also a high floor room away from the elevator.

Elevators are very slow, we took the stairs almost every time

Overall we enjoyed our time, I just wish we had a pool or hot tub we could have enjoyed.

On our last night, the elevator stopped working and the maintenance manager immediately went to work to get it fixed.

One of the three elevators was out of order while we were there.

but elevator was out for 2 days with no reason, ice machines on all floors didn't work and check in on Friday was the worst experience I've ever had, only one lady working at 3pm waited over 45 minutes to check in with 5 people in line i realize places are short handed but on a Friday they should had more help this was very frustrating for all in line.

The halls leading to our room looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in weeks, the cleaning lady actually verified they hadn't, the elevators were filthy and one day one of them was out of service completely.

The free breakfast was plentiful if a bit basic, fresh fruits, pastries, bagels, juices, hot and cold cereals etc.

The free breakfast was delicious and the environment was very friendly and welcoming!

This hotel included breakfast so for the same price 
as others it was a better value.

Enjoyed the included breakfast, Most every aspect was better   Then we expected was able to relax, Would like to return again.

but the best part was definitely the complimentary breakfast.

The staff have always been kind, our room has always been great, the free breakfast is an added bonus and is yummy.

The room was clean and nice view of the ocean.

Price is always good the restaurant always has goodm service and food and my room is always right very clean.

Great location in the very heart of Virginia Beach, hotel room was dated, cleanliness of room was pathetic.

I got a oceanfront room, the room is clean and the view is perfect.

Everything was nice and clean enough room for the five of us, we had an ocean view, looking the beach.

The room is always clean and comfortable.

Also , the lobby area is kept clean and so was my room I truly enjoyed my stay here .

Room was very clean and view was very beautiful.

The vending machines are disgusting as well.

Hallway was filthy, not a good vacuum in a long time.

We bought a swiffer to mop the floor because Tonya walked around a few minutes and her feet were filthy.

Entering the room, family noticed a fishy smell. Literally.

Puddle of water on deck as air conditioning has no drainage pipe so it drains on the deck.

Our room was damp, even with the over-worked A/C unit kicking in noisily from time to time.

The amount of trash/clothes/beercans and cigarettes inbetween the hedge and balcony on the first floor was disgusting.

Broken tile and laminate flooring, kids shocked by bathroom light switch, peeling paint, awful odor, fuzzy bathroom ceiling and a blocked fire escape!!

There was a weird smell outside of our room for most of our stay

Upon check in the pillow cases was dirty, there was a mold stain right above the bed , the shower curtain was rusted.

Also at 6 am every day the halls and lobby are filled with a gas smell.

Smelt of weed frequently in common areas. Room/hallway/bathroom in need of repair (missing paint, rusty hardware everywhere (sprinklers, bathroom fixtures, etc.)

Sheets torn, carpet smelly near pool area.

The room was Terrible my shower had black mold on it and the room was just gross it wasn’t even clean!

Smell: ours smelled like old bleach
Bathrooms: especially 806.

Only 2 elevators and breakfast did not have good veg options.

Weed smell as soon as e came out of elevator the first night, broken Bathroom (handicapped rail must’ve fell some time ago and ver replaced) filthy carpet stinky room, as soon as we walked it, it smelled old, damp, had to spray perfume and open the balcony door to let that smell out.. this was supposed to be a nice two nights getaway for my family.

Elevator didn’t work for most of our stay, breakfast setup was inadequate for hotel of this size, esp buffet style.

Staff use the same elevators guest use and transport trash containers up and down smelling up the elevators and squeezing guests in.

Though we're not personally very concerned about covid, the elevators still concerned us as they were pretty dirty.

So, we had to walk down 5 flights of stairs (with luggage) to the lobby, then access the elevator to our room.

I saw quite a few guests not wearing masks, even in the front lobby and while checking in and in the elevator.

There was an elevator (one of two) that was out that caused a little delay going up and down from our room

Elevators: 1 of 2 elevators seemed to be perpetually out of order, significantly prolonging journeys, especially from the top floor.

Puddles of water in the hallway and elevators with trifold yellow Caution Wet Floor signs everywhere.

I would like a bit more cleaning in the corners of elevators and swimming pool need cleaning.

The hallways and elevators were extremely hot!

The elevator went out and we were down to one most of the time we were there

The elevator was broken had to wait forever to get on and off just totally dissatisfied

I requested a room away from elevator because it is usually noisy.

Our room was near the elevators and we had a loud roar every time one of the elevators moved.

As for the elevator, if you are in a room that ends in 05 or 06, you are going to be right across from it.

The rooms have been recently renovated and are quiet and offer all the amenities you would expect (fridge, microwave, coffee maker)  The breakfast included is decent and gives you something to start the day.

Free Breakfast was respectable with a good variety and coffee was hot.

Complimentary breakfast surpassed expectations.

This hotel offered a free breakfast every morning from 7-10  am with hot coffee and tea.

The hotel has complementary breakfast that would satisfy most hungry travelers.

Stunning ocean view during the hot complimentary breakfast.

Summer vacation with my family, we enjoy the complimentary breakfast, the room was very nice with breathtaking sea view, and proximity to everything else.

Being on the Boardwalk was very convenient and the complimentary breakfast choices were very good.

Pool was decent, not big and semi-warm and the free continental breakfast left ALOT to be desired.

Complimentary breakfast is a real plus to get your day off to an quick start!

We spent four days at the hotel and didn't meet a single staff member who wasn't professional, helpful, and friendly.

The staff was friendly and I liked that there was a restaurant attached for lunch or dinner.

Despite undergoing renovation, the hotel was great with friendly front desk staff, affordable off-season rates, great view from our room’s balcony, free and easy parking, and yummy breakfast (notable was scrambled eggs with cheese and chives).

The chips that came with the burgers/wraps were the crumbles from the bottom of a bag and were very stale.

The pool is filthy and in general the property is not maintained or cared for.

The room smelled terrible and was very dated.

It was dirty dreary dark and truly disgusting.

Pool area was dirty, windows were filthy.

I would not recommend this hotel on their website it was totally different and I was told that that happens all the time I feel that was deceiving and I was very very disappointed the room was not clean I was on the second floor that overlooked a roof that had trash cigarette

but smelled musty (thankfully I opened the balcony doors but then I had small flies).

Exhaust fan was broken so there was an abundance of mildew growing.

When we got to the room, it smelled musty/moldy and the air conditioner unit stunk when we turned it on.

Obvious cleaning crew is cutting corners, not a non smoking floor.

The carpet was extremely dirty, room smelled, furniture was worn and out dated.

The bathroom needs updating, it’s dimly lit and moldy.

Only one elevator works and my husband is in a wheelchair so no option of climbing stairs.

And yes, there is only one working elevator, which did cause some delays in going up and down from the 5th floor.

however one elevator was down and our room was on the 8th floor.

but last time there was alot of confusion and the elevators stopped working.

A major drawback was, during our stay, only one of the two elevators were functioning, which caused a delay for guests and employees trying to travel from floor to floor.

Not the hotel depicted on their website; Bartendress is great rest of hotel is badly managed, only one elevator mostly in use by the staff- expect long irritating waits; NO BUSINESS CENTER- totally removed and no business services.

One of two elevators is under renovation, which is not disclosed on the website, and creates significant wait times for the sole elevator.

Both elevators were out of order the 3 days we were there.

The hotel lost 2 stars  from me because they didn't enforce the no pets in the breakfast area (I saw multiple that were NOT service animals) and the elevator was out our entire stay.

One of the two elevators was broken and took forever to get up and down.

Elevator broke the entire time…requested housekeeping everyday and only received it 1 day.

The only two downsides were very slow hotel Wi-Fi, and only one (of two) elevators was working, which made for long waits for the elevator.

One of the elevators was down for about 4 days, and it felt like things just didn't run smoothly.

Finally, the elevators are insanely slow.

though - so I can imagine during warmer weather (and after COVID)the area could be quite noisy 

Speaking of COVID- usual protocols are all  in place - masks  for all, wipes available by elevators, no housekeeping without specific requests, clean stickers on doors,  remotes etc - breakfast both served and  self serve depending on what you want to eat -nice to have hot items still available- and you can eat in the restaurant seating just outside the breakfast serving room (some tables closed to allow for distancing) so seconds or drink refills are easy!

We did not see hand sanitizer around, except for one afternoon, there was a hand sanitizer dispenser right by the elevator.

but they are forced to constantly use the elevators and create quite a mess.

The staff is super friendly and accommodating!

The restaurant down stairs was fantastic our bartender Jen I think was friendly and warm and was a great server!

Staff very friendly & efficient.Love the bathroom pump bottles for shampoo etc.

The front desk folks were very friendly and courteous

Every staff member from the front desk to the dinning room, were all good at their jobs and friendly!

The Hampton Inn Virginia Beach Oceanfront North staff were some of the most friendly, accommodating people I've dealt with, and I work in customer service myself.

although our dog is very friendly - it is one less thing to worry about).

Staff at breakfast were super helpful when my son spilled milk everywhere and were very friendly and welcoming.

Special "shout-out" to Buddy who is always taking care of the Hampton Inn with a smile on his face and a friendly greeting!

Fantazzia and Kayla were wonderful, friendly and made sure all of our requests were met.

But, clearly the greatest selling point of the Hampton North was that it is right on the Boardwalk and the fantastic view from every room.

This hotel has a great location on the Boardwalk with oceanfront rooms.

Our room overlooked the beach and was really a nice view.
