The elevators half work, walked the stairs 90% of our stay.

but the smell inside the elevator and the hallways was terrifying because of the wet carpets.

but when you get off the elevator upstairs it just has a damp dingy feeling to it.

On our floor, the carpet was frayed and one of the elevators was out for the duration of our trip.

- Only 1 small, extremely slow elevator is actually working.

There are only 2 elevators--1 was broken and the other took forever so we had to keep using the stairs.

One of the elevators was out of order resulting in long waits from the 9th floor.

Only 1 elevator worked there entire stay, it was finally working the day we left.

Everything was good except  one elevator wasn’t working made it crazy trying to get up or down.

Elevators out of order, ice makers not working, lamps in the room don't work. etc.

Also a high floor room away from the elevator.

Overall we enjoyed our time, I just wish we had a pool or hot tub we could have enjoyed.

On our last night, the elevator stopped working and the maintenance manager immediately went to work to get it fixed.

One of the three elevators was out of order while we were there.

but elevator was out for 2 days with no reason, ice machines on all floors didn't work and check in on Friday was the worst experience I've ever had, only one lady working at 3pm waited over 45 minutes to check in with 5 people in line i realize places are short handed but on a Friday they should had more help this was very frustrating for all in line.

The halls leading to our room looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in weeks, the cleaning lady actually verified they hadn't, the elevators were filthy and one day one of them was out of service completely.

The room was clean and nice view of the ocean.

Price is always good the restaurant always has goodm service and food and my room is always right very clean.

Great location in the very heart of Virginia Beach, hotel room was dated, cleanliness of room was pathetic.

I got a oceanfront room, the room is clean and the view is perfect.

Everything was nice and clean enough room for the five of us, we had an ocean view, looking the beach.

Room was very clean and view was very beautiful.

The vending machines are disgusting as well.

Hallway was filthy, not a good vacuum in a long time.

We bought a swiffer to mop the floor because Tonya walked around a few minutes and her feet were filthy.

Entering the room, family noticed a fishy smell. Literally.

Puddle of water on deck as air conditioning has no drainage pipe so it drains on the deck.

Our room was damp, even with the over-worked A/C unit kicking in noisily from time to time.

The amount of trash/clothes/beercans and cigarettes inbetween the hedge and balcony on the first floor was disgusting.

Broken tile and laminate flooring, kids shocked by bathroom light switch, peeling paint, awful odor, fuzzy bathroom ceiling and a blocked fire escape!!

There was a weird smell outside of our room for most of our stay

Upon check in the pillow cases was dirty, there was a mold stain right above the bed , the shower curtain was rusted.

Also at 6 am every day the halls and lobby are filled with a gas smell.

Smelt of weed frequently in common areas. Room/hallway/bathroom in need of repair (missing paint, rusty hardware everywhere (sprinklers, bathroom fixtures, etc.)

Sheets torn, carpet smelly near pool area.

The room was Terrible my shower had black mold on it and the room was just gross it wasn’t even clean!

Only one elevator works and my husband is in a wheelchair so no option of climbing stairs.

And yes, there is only one working elevator, which did cause some delays in going up and down from the 5th floor.

however one elevator was down and our room was on the 8th floor.

but last time there was alot of confusion and the elevators stopped working.

A major drawback was, during our stay, only one of the two elevators were functioning, which caused a delay for guests and employees trying to travel from floor to floor.

Not the hotel depicted on their website; Bartendress is great rest of hotel is badly managed, only one elevator mostly in use by the staff- expect long irritating waits; NO BUSINESS CENTER- totally removed and no business services.

One of two elevators is under renovation, which is not disclosed on the website, and creates significant wait times for the sole elevator.

Both elevators were out of order the 3 days we were there.

The hotel lost 2 stars  from me because they didn't enforce the no pets in the breakfast area (I saw multiple that were NOT service animals) and the elevator was out our entire stay.

One of the two elevators was broken and took forever to get up and down.

Elevator broke the entire time…requested housekeeping everyday and only received it 1 day.

The only two downsides were very slow hotel Wi-Fi, and only one (of two) elevators was working, which made for long waits for the elevator.

One of the elevators was down for about 4 days, and it felt like things just didn't run smoothly.

Finally, the elevators are insanely slow.

though - so I can imagine during warmer weather (and after COVID)the area could be quite noisy 

Speaking of COVID- usual protocols are all  in place - masks  for all, wipes available by elevators, no housekeeping without specific requests, clean stickers on doors,  remotes etc - breakfast both served and  self serve depending on what you want to eat -nice to have hot items still available- and you can eat in the restaurant seating just outside the breakfast serving room (some tables closed to allow for distancing) so seconds or drink refills are easy!

We did not see hand sanitizer around, except for one afternoon, there was a hand sanitizer dispenser right by the elevator.

but they are forced to constantly use the elevators and create quite a mess.

Then the room was very clean, spacious and view was fantastic.

The rooms were very clean and smelled perfect.

The room seemed clean enough, and the size of the bathroom was fairly generous.

The beds are comfortable and our room was very clean, which is something we look for.

Our room was clean & we got fresh towels when we requested them!

The rooms are clean and spacious and all look out onto the beautiful Atlantic.

The lobby and room were clean and the hotel restaurant Zza’s was very good and fast.

but when we checked in we notified one of the blankets in the clean bed had vomit on it like the blanket was being reused.

Non-smoking rooms (although we did smell smoke from someone smoking on their balcony at the place next door on occasion), and no bug problems were also a plus.

If the eating area hadn't been a hassle & pool chemical smell not so strong, the rating would be good to excellent.

Overall the hotel just feels cheap and disgusting.

Only downside was the room next to ours were smoking marijuana on the balcony so we were unable to enjoy the balcony view for one night.

Our visit was after a couple days of rain and there was no musky or mildew smell.

The indoor pool smelled funny and not once did I see someone in there cleaning up after guests.

Minuses: I would say our room and hallways were very clean (except that on the floor of our room I've noticed 2 black musty spots on the carpet  probably from mascara because it stained my fingers after touching it, + couple plastic pieces of wire from tagging off a new item of clothes under the table).

but honestly until this hotel is renovated I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless there is no where else to stay and you get a smoking deal on a nightly rate.

Oh, a disgusting greasy thing which prevented us from walking barefoot or - for that matter - remotely even  touching the furniture (let alone use the bed), the grease, the dirt, that is.

Our tub also had a very slow moving drain

Only 2 elevators and breakfast did not have good veg options.

Weed smell as soon as e came out of elevator the first night, broken Bathroom (handicapped rail must’ve fell some time ago and ver replaced) filthy carpet stinky room, as soon as we walked it, it smelled old, damp, had to spray perfume and open the balcony door to let that smell out.. this was supposed to be a nice two nights getaway for my family.

Elevator didn’t work for most of our stay, breakfast setup was inadequate for hotel of this size, esp buffet style.

Staff use the same elevators guest use and transport trash containers up and down smelling up the elevators and squeezing guests in.

Though we're not personally very concerned about covid, the elevators still concerned us as they were pretty dirty.

So, we had to walk down 5 flights of stairs (with luggage) to the lobby, then access the elevator to our room.

I saw quite a few guests not wearing masks, even in the front lobby and while checking in and in the elevator.

There was an elevator (one of two) that was out that caused a little delay going up and down from our room

The carpet was extremely dirty, room smelled, furniture was worn and out dated.

The bathroom needs updating, it’s dimly lit and moldy.

The check in staff was inexistent- I had to change in a bathroom to get to a wedding on time despite arriving at 3:45pm.

The toilet was wobbling, there were bugs in the shower and the front door did not look safe.

Our bathroom had two leaks in the ceiling, which you could hear dripping into our trash can.

Rooms are very old, cleaning and changing towels only are done after your stay so we ended up with pile of wet and dirty towels in a small bathroom with no ventilation so became quite smelly after 3 days.

Outdated room, tiny and dated bathroom (barely enough room to move).

I mean, the hallways, the rugs, the baseboards, the bathrooms.

however, we did not have hot water for showers.

I will never recommend or stay at this toilet again.

Our room was very small, the bathroom was also small with zero water pressure.

but there were splashes of dried red wine on one wall and the shower button on the tub was stuck on so we could only shower…not a problem but we had to control the water temp before we got in so we wouldn’t get burned.

The toilet and sink were dirty and there was hair stuck to them as well.

I damaged side of my car hitting a pole on my sideview mirror while backing out a parking spot.

Very old and dingy - the toilet paper holder was screwed to a block of wood outside the wall.

The room was dirty especially the tile floor and the bathroom.

I was not aware of where the pools were located and it does say hot breakfast as an amenity.

I came back to my room after a very long day to find that the housekeeper had rummaged through my drawers and put something brown/black in my toothpaste.

6)The shower valve is messed up causing it to operate in the opposite way in which it should.

housekeeping isn't doing everything they've done in the past with cleaning rooms because of the COVID situation so if you need something like shampoo, you go to the front desk and they are happy to give it to you.

The room was clean and the linens fit the bed, the towels were fluffy.

but didn’t have enough cleaning staff to come clean rooms during stay.

The room was clean and it was a clean mid level hotel.

however, our room was VERY clean and the staff was EXTREMELY friendly.

I had not had any contact with the housekeeper, and had kept my room tidy, so the only motive I can see is that I had a MAGA /Thin Blue Line mask in one of the drawers that the housekeeper saw when they snooped around.

This hotel is amazing, Clean rooms, safe area, Awesome staff.

We never have housekeeping clean our room during our stay anyway, we always just get big trash bags to put trash in, and we were told to leave them outside our room and they'd be taken care of.

We were thrilled with the view and the rooms were clean.

Rooms were clean, front desk employees were great.

Ive been staying here for yrs and I never have to worry about the room being clean.

The room itself was clean and had an ocean view

Clean rooms and very well laid out with a lot of extras.

The room was very clean - great job by cleaning staff.

Nonetheless, the room was clean when we checked in, which is all that matters.

The staff with Erica, Geoffrey and Jeff are efficient and knowledgeable, and the room is clean with a great view.

The room was very clean and average size, not at all cramped.

Hotel is very nice, awesome balcony, very clean room.

Rooms are clean, hallways are definitely dated.

Restaurant onsite is very convenient 
The negatives - smoking was overwhelming this time, it was so bad you couldn’t sit on your balcony or even open your door.

but the management needs to be more proactive and aggressive in enforcing their no smoking restrictions.
