It’s not worth the price and they don’t understand the term customer service.

The server was rude, and at times I’ve observed her yelling at customers, including myself.

but got a complete ‘computer says no’ response from the hotel and from their customer relations.

The only problem was the service, both the reception and restaurant staff could do with a refresher in customer service.

This is overall a very poor parador for service to customers.

The receptionist was friendly and efficient and spoke English.

Was on our Camino route and the room was great and the staff helpful and friendly  The food in the hotel was good and the prices were not out of line.

The next morning I reported this to the concierge.

All the staff were understanding and helpful and Luis on reception worked tirelessly on our behalf on Monday morning to find a solution.

Good things first, the welcome on reception was good and the maitre d in the restaurant was very good.

In the delightful peace that followed, it took a considerable time for the staff to restock for other guests.

We used it as a base to explore both town and the surrounding countryside, including the great bodega of the area, and were able to come back and relax in our large, light and comfortable room at the end of the day; there was lots of useful information in the hotel for activities and staff recommendations of things to do in the area, a nice touch.

But our lasting impression was how kind, understanding and helpful the reception staff were when I was taken unwell.

A modern Parador and very convenient for an overnight stay, receptionists were particularly welcoming.

In an old authentic house, lovingly restored, a most welcoming and friendly albergue has been created, complete with kitchen and even a wood fire to sit before and try the local wine.

It was one of the best and most friendly places to stay.

The staff are wonderful, friendly and so helpful!

The owners are very friendly, helpful and it is a nice atmosphere.

The family, who owns this place is wonderful, very friendly, helpful and sincere.

They even made phone calls to find accommodation elsewhere for pilgrims who turned up after Leo was full.

Maria organised for my pack to be collected the next morning and then they advised there was a physiotherapist in town and did I want them to call her too see if I could get an appointment that night?

Maria and family could not have been any more hospitable and accommodating - they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

I was a sorry Pelegrín on the mountain 1.5 hours later.

While I waited for the lift I had some time to get to know the staff better and I am grateful for it.

We asked for an Ice coffee to-go and the barman wouldn't take any payment.

The room price did not come with breakfast so we brought milk and cereal along (the room has a refrigerator and Belem put our ice in the hotel ice cream freezer for the night) However, we did eat dinner at the hotel.

If on a budget, there are definitely cheaper alternatives in town including one of the better Albergues on the camino on the opposite side of town.

I'll admit I made a wrong choice at dinner, having to chew through a hefty serving of botilla,

From there, you'll find a warm welcome from the staff (wine and pinchos), a legitimate gift shop with local products; an outstanding open-air bar and restaurant favored by the locals.

The hotel had so much character, our large room in the attic with a particularly large bathroom was gorgeous, the outdoor setting with so much greenery was beautiful and relaxing, eating in the outdoor restaurant area was delightful and the food was lovely, we enjoyed sipping Cafe Completo in the bar with its two open sides and the staff were wonderful.

When you arrive you are greeted with a glass of the local wine and a small tapas – makes you feel welcome.

The staff were exceptional in their friendliness and willingness to help with any request.

The staff, well one lady that was working was fabulous so attentive, warm and so busy also..

The food in the restaurant was rustic and wholesome served by enthusiastic staff.

To go with this was a uniformity of Spanish charm from the staff.

This is an exceptional place, welcoming,  clean,  comfortable ,atmospheric,  good value.

but the helpful staff assisted us with the luggage.

Maria welcomed me with homemade empanadas and several tastes of local wine, and could not do enough to graciously make me comfortable.

The staff at Las Donas is friendly and helpful and even had a lockable storage room to the side of the hotel where I could store my bicycle for the night.

The staff are so friendly and accommodating.

though small is so attentive and friendly, i was greeted by the elegant grandmother and her lovely grand-daughter.

Breakfast is freshly prepared by friendly staff.

Breakfast was part of our package and consisted of meat and cheese and pies and bread.

Walking the Camino .. weary and sore we "staggered" into the delightful down of Villafranca de Bierzo and were so relieved to discover that our pre-booked accommodation was directly on the Camino.

I only gave 4 for value because I booked as a package deal and don't know what the rate was.

It is immaculately maintained, and tho' the rooms are rather small,

Breakfast was very nice and the reception service was courteous and warm, not the uniformed polite-but-detached hotel desk that is the norm nowadays.

Personnel was multi tasking as the front desk person was also the one refilling the breakfast items so was overwhelmed at one point as we were a big group.

but the evening person was just delightful and helpful.

In fact, after a really hard day over 30 kms of hills I got lost and found the tourist information centre and a lovely lady who spoke beautiful English pointed me in the right direction.

They were very helpful with our bags and a late checkout.

Attentive service, good illumination and decoration.

The bathroom shower deserves it's own post because there were all kinds of shower output options (rain, wand, jets).

The decor is warm, welcoming, and classic.

but efficient with bidets as well as a bath/ shower combo in my juniour suite.

I got to walk the very friendly dog Rey (the King) around the town which was amazing and when I needed a Tupperware container to store extra food I cooked Olivia didn’t hesitate to give me one of hers to take and keep- SO NICE!

The couple who run it are very friendly and helpful and speak excellent english.

This private albergue was wonderful, the young couple who owned/ managed it were most helpful, site was clean, Camino travelers were happy, friendly.

The staff,especially the lady of the house was brutally friendly,helpful and willing to make our stay as perfect as possible.

Unfortunately, we soon found out that the third floor, just above us, would be housing 15 to 20 teenagers on a class trip of some sort.

As in every other albergue, the walls are thin and people go about their business at their pace and time so there is constant hustle and bustle on the corridors, which can be heard at all times.

We stayed here with a group and received super friendly service in addition to clean rooms.

In advance we requested a very quiet room because we’ve been in a few noisy places and really needed a good night’s sleep.

By this time many will have walked 25 days and been subject to sleepless nights in dormitories of 40 people, putting up with snoring and constant disruption particularly as people get up before the crack of dawn to make sure they get a bed for the next night.

If you are being very nit pickie then if you are a light sleeper there can be a little noise from kids in the areas between the lifts  and the room and the hotel is newly built so does not offer any architectural delights.

but had a weird overhead rose where the water just poured out rather than sprayed.

It was also perfectly clean, comfortable beds, good shower and kind staff.

The staff is great, the rooms are fantastic, and the buffet breakfast is stupendous!

Like the owner and his hotel, totally incongruous and larger than life.

And the lady who ran the front desk was SO sweet, providing directions and recommendations, in addition to just having a great and welcoming presence.

The staff was the best part as they were helpful and responsive.

When asked for hotel recommendation the front desk lady was helpful.

We walked from Villafranca and arrived here just in time before a wild storm blew through.

but my husband woke up a few times due to vehicles driving by the open windows quite loudly.

but this stay was disappointing due to the poor service.

We arrived early yet the staff accommodated our check-in and were helpful & friendly.

but what made it was we had a little terrace out from our room which was lovely to sit in late afternoon.Dinner was tasty,it was a limited menu as part of our package.Staff were friendly although spoke very little English

but after several days of 5 minutes showers, being able to spend 20 minutes, even if a little squashed, in a hot bath was luxury indeed.

Then one of the occupants snored so loud that it was like he/she was in my room.

Women at desk and in bar were very pleasant and patient with my lack of Espanol.

They also explained breakfast was from 7.10am (yes that is correct) and dinner  was from 8.00pm.
