The hotel breakfast the next morning was good and I think it was the first place on our hike that offered Santiago cake (an almond-flavored pound cake that is delicious).

Personnel was multi tasking as the front desk person was also the one refilling the breakfast items so was overwhelmed at one point as we were a big group.

We paid for the breakfast buffet the next morning, which included fresh squeezed orange juice, various coffees and teas, toast, three types of coffee cake, various cold meats and cheeses.

We had a room that overlooked the rooftops of nearby buildings; it had a old-world luxury hotel feel, pretty casement windows, comfortable beds.

This boutique hotel screams understated luxury.

Hi: This was super reasonable, $85 euros in May 2015, for luxury on the Camino.

We were about to start our 300 odd km Camino Santiago and indulged in a little pampering - we LOVED it.

Breakfast was part of our package and consisted of meat and cheese and pies and bread.

Walking the Camino .. weary and sore we "staggered" into the delightful down of Villafranca de Bierzo and were so relieved to discover that our pre-booked accommodation was directly on the Camino.

I only gave 4 for value because I booked as a package deal and don't know what the rate was.

After a stunning walk to Villafranca del Bierzo, we were not let down by the hotel.

The town is perfect to walk around and there is a lot of restaurants close by.

After a long days walking the Camino what a gem of a hotel.

We stayed here for one night in late September 2017 while walking the Camino de Santiago, It was fine with an old-fashioned feel.

After walking in 90+ degree heat for over a week, we truly appreciated the air conditioning in our room.

After walking the day at 34 degrees, the beautifully restored hotel with air conditioning was welcome relief.

The location is very central and an easy walk to restaurants.

And if you are walking along the Camino, the trail picks up right around the corner from Las Donas so you can start your day in the right direction.

The hotel was 2 storey and had a lift which was welcome after a big walk and bags to move.

The woman at the desk and I communicated via Google Translate to have her agree to accommodate us with an early breakfast (before 7:00) so we could continue our Camino walk early.

We stayed here during our walk on the Camino de Santiago.

After a 25 kms walking, we finally arrived at " Las donas" , a small hotel very confortable and with a Nice decoration.

but dinner is at a restaurant owned by the same family 5 minutes walk away.

We started our Camino in Astorga and when we arrived to VillaFranca del Bierzo and walked to the inn we saw  this rustic inn from the outside and  when we went inside it was beautifully decorated and the rooms were sooo comfy and with air conditioning.

It is easy walking distance to the town center and right on the Camino which we were walking.

The breakfast buffet had plenty of fruits, meats, pastries and the usual eggs, yoghurt, cereal, bread, etc.

As a positive, they packed us a takeaway lunch bag since we left before breakfast.

This is a modern, comfortable and friendly Parador in which to stay.

The place is modern compared to other Paradores so don’t expect an ancient structural heirloom.

A modern Parador and very convenient for an overnight stay, receptionists were particularly welcoming.

We visited the Parador briefly and was disappointed to find it was a modern concrete hotel unlike the historic buildings we have stayed in previously.

The funishings were modern with much wood.

The check-in was smooth and friendly, the room spotless and modern.

This Parador has been recently refurbished and is a very pleasant place to stay with large, modern rooms and good public areas including a bar, restaurant, lounge with fireplace and a terrace overlooking the town where we sat while it got dark.

This is a modern Parador with a few faux fittings to make it look older than it is.

The pool was great with a spa feel - high powered jets and a sauna.

but with a light airy feel, and both an indoor and outdoor pool.

We checked out the indoor pool, which was a little cool.

Pool was wonderful after walking 100km in 3 days.

This is not evident from the web site photos which just shows a lovely empty pool.

Don’t know what it cost because it was booked via tour company.

Unfortunately, by booking through Greenlife Tours t/as Camino ways, I paid significantly more than the rate.

However I only have myself to blame as I booked it and mistook it's description as the newest addition to the Parador range to mean it was newly converted not newly built.

There was a wedding there the night we stayed, which we had been warned about in advance and given an option to cancel,

As with many of the hotels on our trip we were unable to get a king bed - so if you want one, be sure to ask for it when you make a reservation.

Our only regret was not being able to visit the town itself, good enough reason to return.

We used it as a base to explore both town and the surrounding countryside, including the great bodega of the area, and were able to come back and relax in our large, light and comfortable room at the end of the day; there was lots of useful information in the hotel for activities and staff recommendations of things to do in the area, a nice touch.

great base to hike from , drive from, or just enjoy the town, center of the wine region with wine tasting, and easy drive to O'Cebriero and beautiful mountain hiking.

It’s a good stopping point before the next town visit a Santiago.

It's on the edge of a small town, and has good views over the surrounding hilly countryside.

This is a first class hotel with lovely views, close by to the charming town with all of its churches and surrounded by mountains.

A short walk one hits the church and town all in the course of about 10 minutes,   Our dinner was a group dinner in the restaurant and the staff were rushed off their feet as there was also another large group tour.

There is a short walk to the town where there are many bars, cafes and restaurants.

Had dinner in town which is only 5-10 minute walk away.

It's one of the stops on the Camino de Santiago so there were lots of pilgrims in town.

The area is very picturesque and lots to see in the town which is a few minutes walk away.

The location is good as it is easy to walk into the town.

Well situated near the town centre and for touring the this area of Spain.

If you are driving around this part of Spain you could base yourself here for a couple of days and see Ponsferrada castle and other towns.

The couple who run it are lovely, its REALLY well organised, showers are hot, comfortable sleeping, good breakfast for 2€, and you can book online.

You can have spontaneous breakfast in the morning for 4€.

The breakfast for 2 euros is nice as well.

Breakfast was available for a very reasonable 2€!

The breakfast is great with muesli, toast, cakes, biscuits, juice, tea & coffee all for only €3 a great start to steep hike in the morning.

Breakfast was a step above most with muesli in addition to usual toast, juice, coffee with hot milk.

They also do a good breakfast in the morning.

The people running the hostel were lovely, the breakfast was the best we got anywhere on the camino (cereal, toast, coffee, juice), the rooms were clean and quiet and of course importantly, there was free wi-fi!

The staff is great, the rooms are fantastic, and the buffet breakfast is stupendous!

A wonderful non-English speaking character who mimed his way through an entire dinner conversation and then insisted on showing us around the Hotel including the love nest penthouse on the top floor and also his wonderful collection of drinking vessels, just next to the dining room, where a good breakfast buffet was served.

The buffet style breakfast is fine with good quality cold meats and fresh bread etc.

This was my favourite camino albergue with the hosts providing scrumptious meals and drinks and a home made apple cake to die for.

Very quiet amazing place, delicious menu, simple and comfortable environment, very clean rooms overlooking the pond.

Great people, a beautiful property with grass and hammocks and great food - Vegetarian options, healthy and fresh and great fish for the non vegetarian.

The host Sergei and Irina were incredibly welcoming and the place extremely relaxing and the food was delicious.

The local fare was great and vino de tinto de casa - plentiful.

The only non-positive remark will be, that the breakfast is –well, simple with not much to choose from.

Really delicious artisan food.I had mouth-watering goats cheese with the restaurant's own home made chutney.

They were exquisite - grilled veggies, Spanish omelette, octopus, trout & peppers, beef cheeks and mixed cheeses plate.

Breakfast was also fantastic - much larger than we had experienced along the way.

The breakfast was delicious the next morning and our dessert the evening before was also good.

They give you empanada and wine at check-in which was delicious.

We were met with a glass of wine and empanada, shown proudly to our room, served with kind attention at dinner and greeted with smiles at breakfast.

Delicious late dinner was enjoyed in the gardenlike outdoor restaurant, and a robust and well tasting breakfast, made to order, was served early next morning in their breakfast room.

Breakfast is o.k., a normal Spanish breakfast of toast and coffee… what sets it apart is that you can eat it in the cool, antique laden dining room.

The breakfasts are good as well as the bar and restaurant.

Our room had a large balcony facing the main street where we sat enjoying more delicious local wine, while most rooms have garden (better) views

The following morning we opted for breakfast here.

The room price did not come with breakfast so we brought milk and cereal along (the room has a refrigerator and Belem put our ice in the hotel ice cream freezer for the night) However, we did eat dinner at the hotel.

If on a budget, there are definitely cheaper alternatives in town including one of the better Albergues on the camino on the opposite side of town.

Enjoyed a very nice breakfast in the morning and was a little reluctant to leave and resume the more mundane daily peregrino routine.

So delicious and their coffee was the best I had on the whole camino de santiago.

but they were building up the simple buffet fast.

Breakfast was abundant, with many options and everything was abundantly prepared for Covid.
