but I couldn't bear to see the poor birds trapped, so I avoided this area, which is a shame .

Towels are thin and bathrooms are poor and institution-like.

However, a poor and unhealthy breakfast buffet, no gym and no focus on the environment makes this an average hotel.

I told him I had a booking for a group of 30 people and this type of poor customer service would make me  choose a different property .

Our only complaint was the very poor internet wi-fi speed

Found the choice was poor and the food was barely warm.

though the lighting was very poor in the room and you had to switch on the bedside lamp to get the socket near the table to work.

We visited Pisa, Florence and Lucca, and found the trains frequent, clean & cheaper than the UK (despite the poor exchange rate!).

However, the service at breakfast is very poor.

As we left, I was amused to see a very suave man in a smart suit looking dolefully at his piece of meat - completely surrounded by a red, bloody moat, gesticulating at the poor waiter who was cringing before him.

Bad points - awful breakfast, 'hot' food is inedible, birds frequently flying around the room & helping themselves to the bread, poor service for tea & coffee with tables not pre set.

Having seen what the Manager writes in riposte to unfair reviews  (check the poor review Manager's comments on TA, they are a hoot!)

Maps and information were pretty poor - as was information on using their beach partner.

As a USA visitor we were horrified to see the poor state of the rooms.

We paid for a basic room and that's what we got (small-ish, no balcony, poor view).

The cuts of meat were poor and I had the worst lasagne of my life last week!

The service in the restaurant was poor, you are allocated a table for your entire stay, and likewise you tend to have the same waiter(s), it was a regular event for the waiter to come to your table with the meals for a different table, likewise we often saw our meals doing a tour of the restaurant before reaching us.

Although there was some traffic noise this could not be heard at night when the windows and shutters were closed, and using the very efficient air con .

If you're looking for a Club 18-30s style Hotel with Karaoke, Loud music and generally a noisy experience - look elsewhere.

The only small gripe was with there being no Jet 2 rep available when you need one.

But if I wouldn't have earplugs I wouldn't sleep first night because of terrible noise in air-condition in room no. 106.

I gave sleep quality 4 as air conditioning was a bit noisy.

We booked a sea front room- be aware there is road noise and sometimes music at night.

I feel the average clientele of the hotel and of the wider area was slightly older so if you’re looking for a quiet calm break, this one is for you.

Air conditioners are so loud that it is impossible to sleep & leave it on at night so anytime July-Sept it would be impossible.

Unfortunately, I have to change my beautiful large room at the 5th floor due to the noise disturbing my sleep.

Again there is quite a bit of noise from traffic as it is at the back of the hotel and behind the bushes at the back is the busy road.

The peaceful atmosphere was  sometimes spoilt by a few noisy guests/children jumping and splashing about.

but we did speak to reception in the morning and apparently the police were called to measure the noise level so, well done to the hotel for trying to do something about it.

We had a lovely room upgrade upon checking in; the room was clean & tidy with a great shower and bathroom facilities.

The smallest bathroom ever you sat on the toilet with your knees against the wall next to the shower .This was so tiny it would never be allowed health and safety in England.We had to put any toiletries in the bedroom as there was no shelf.

but adequate and I could have done with more storage in the bathroom and the shower is for a small person with not much room to manoeuvre.

Any criticism was the bathroom & shower was very small , could be difficult for any less agile or larger size .

Only down side was the small toilet/shower room.

but the bathroom well shower room was so small you had to sit on the toilet sideways because your knees were touching the wall and you had step over the toilet to get to the shower, ridiculous for this class of hotel, apparently not all the bathrooms are this small but that didn't make us feel any better.

the public rooms were traditional and gracious.The bathroom was small and we found the corner shower most unsatisfactory, not much room and a dodgy door.

We checked into our supposedly deluxe room and it not only looked nothing like the pictures online

The photograph of the hotel is quite deceiving as the hotel does not have swimming pool.

The picture of the hotel on the sites is also misleading as it does not have its own gardens or pool.

Unfortunately pictures of the room are on my camera not on my phone .

Whilst there is no pool (despite a misleading hotel site photo) there is a discount rate for Irene beach club facing the hotel.

The hotel description and photos on Booking.com and Hotels.com mislead us a bit.

We saw one female who was carrying a map to make her look more like a tourist who waited until an old man lifted his arms to take a photo and she dipped his bag.

This hotel was not at all what we expected from the website photos.

Rooms immaculate,  sheets and towels fresh each day.

The rooms are very clean and comfortable and we had a front balcony room looking out over the beach and sea and was well worth the extra cost.

everytime you take a shower, the water fills the bathroom as there's no shower base or border to avoid water leakage, it's just a curtain door.

The door of the room isn't particularly thick so could hear cleaning staff and other guests in the corridor clearly.

It was very, very small with no separate shower, just a drain in the floor and some plastic pull around doors as an enclosure.

I think some of the rooms were renovated as the first time I stayed - the bathroom was very small and had flexible shower doors that leaked ALL the water out on the floor.

On the minus side are only the terribly creaky bathroom doors.

Turn left out of the front door and you are one minute from the promenade and the beach.

We easily parked on the street the hotel was on 30 ft. from the door of the hotel with no difficulty.

Spent one night to get away from the bustle of Florence ,breath the sea air and feel the refreshing mediterranean waters.Could easily have spent longer.The staff were helpful and pleasant, good breakfast selection and comfortble clean rooms.

The washbasins are large and for those who like a bath or have a number of small children to deal with there is a large fully equipped bathroom on each floor – shared by only 5 bedrooms which practically ensures exclusive access.

We stayed 6 nights and when we arrived we got a small room with a small and quite old bathroom on the first floor (room 101).

I'll get the downside out of the way first, our room was quite small and dark for the price (130 euro per night),

If I had any criticism, the room we had was a little small and dark,

Moreover, our room was tiny & constructed in a way that you don't feel comfortable & relaxed there, perhaps because of the position in the corner of the building, so 2 walls contained large windows  providing noise from streets.

Now for the bad points for hotel Tirrenia:

~ The previous comments by DrFu regarding the size of the attic rooms were partially accurate.. the room is about 3ft one end and roughly about 5ft 10” at the highest unfortunately this means if your over 5ft 10” then I would avoid these rooms, you need to duck right down to walk around most of the small room so my girlfriend & I were constantly forgetting and banging our heads! Doh.

however was quite old, dated and actually smelt for the first day or two until I aired it out (which of course introduced a load of mosquitos!)

We were  celebrating my  husbands birthday the only problem was on the night of his birthday we went to a restaurant that was recommended by the hotels leaflet we arrived 7.30 pm and restaurant was empty only to be told by waiter that they were too busy/full did they think we were blind on leaving the staff seated outside smoking laughed and said TOURISTS, we felt humiliated.

but definitely wouldnt venture into the sea because it was very dirty with floating debris and jellyfish!

Things not so good:
-Room smelled of smoking and we were not asked about a smoker/non-smoking room
-Toilet drain did not get almost any water at all due to badly done floor tilting

After driving 5 hours to Viareggio, this was disheartening, made worse by the nasty attitude of the owner of the hotel, who was infuriated that I wouldnt put my family in that room.

Very difficult to sleep and when we opened the windows to cool the room, (used the window nets) we ended up getting bitten badly by mosquitoes.

The bathroom was teeny with a sort of shower curtain in one corner which at just 5'6 I struggled to fit into.

The only problem was the noisy air conditioning - leaving the window open invited in the mozzies!

Conveniantly and quite amusingly for the guys when you need to stand and use the loo there is a window right above the toilet in the ceiling you so you don't have to duck haha!!

This hotel reserved for me an  "attic room" which had a 5 foot clearance at the highest point in the ceiling (it slanted down to about 3 feet at the other end of the room) and had a skylight directly over the bed, which was covered with a flimsy curtain.

However, what we’ve got was a firm and true level of a 3-stars hotel.

but I was given another pillow which was not quite so firm.

Hotel and the room were immaculately clean.

The rooms are very clean and there is hand sanitizer available on each floor to help with the virus procedures.

Clean rooms and bathrooms, The room had a fridge which was handy for cooling drinks which we had on the balcony some evenings.

Room 309 was spotless with a nice little balcony with sun from 3 oclock on.

The rooms are spotless, recently refurbished, and the staff on the desk are unstinting in their help with timetables and recommending and booking restaurants.

The hotel and rooms are really clean, the staff were really friendly and helpful, giving us great tips on what to do and where to eat etc.

However, two cons need to be mentioned: first, there was no free wifi, which might be a little uncomfortable for the one's beeing on the road.

We stayed in a standard double room, which meets all the requirements, including the safe and mini-bar.The only time that a few spoil the overall impression is a narrow shower cabin that was pretty uncomfortable for me.

Other than that it was lovely and I really feel the lovely staff make this hotel what it is

Oh and you have to pay for wifi €4 a day and multiple devices!

Downside is that you have to pay for internet.

Will definately return only hopefully then will not have to pay for Wifi ,which was our only bugbear .

The only negative point is that we have to pay for the wifi

They have a great deal with one of the beach clubs for 15€/day (this is cheap for italy; it was sept though). The only real critique we had was the WiFi which costs 5€/day (and device!!!)
