There is a decent breakfast, and a restaurant, which looked ok

We asked for a High, Quiet Room with a Walk In Shower and that is, exactly what we got - Room 304

Wide selection of items at Breakfast.

Breakfast was good , particularly the coffee.

Breakfast had both Italian and international tastes accommodated.

Breakfast is excellent and restaurants abound in the pedestrian old town.

The breakfast lost it one star - on day 2 we arrived at 0845 for breakfast (which runs until 10)

Breakfast was very good - how nice not to have to get your tea/coffee from a wretched machine!

The breakfast buffet was back and there was a very good choice of hot and cold items together with very good coffee in large jugs on the tables - unfortunately though, it wasn't very hot!

Breakfast was served on pre-ordered trays straight from the fridge due to COVID regulations, the selection good enough.

Buffet breakfast was wonderful and staff offered barista coffee.

Breakfast was just ok.   (there is excellent coffee to be had nearby) house keeping was ok,

There is a very good buffet breakfast in the morning, and you won't leave hungry.

The rooms are big and comfortable and the breakfast offers a good variety of foods.

The style is classic, with remarkably wide spaces, both for the rooms and the common areas, solid walls, elegant furniture.

The hotel is situated on a beautiful piazza in the historic old city and is easy walking distance from all the attractions, the best shops and lots of bars and restaurants.

POSITIVES:  hotel is elegant and in a great location just a few minutes walk from the historic center.

The Astoria Hotel Italia is one of those centuries-old historic hotels that exudes old-school European charm.

Despite limitations of historic building, rooms are well furnished and comfortable.

The Astoria Hotel in Udine is located in the heart of the city, offering great shopping and a central point for visiting numerous historical locations in the surrounding areas.

Charming hotel in a classical building full of character, right in the historical centre of Udine, at walking distance of all sights and activities.

I was touring Italy for 4 weeks, and the class and service of Astoria hotel surpassed all the other hotels, classic elegant hotel.

The flooring is mainly marble, and the furnishings belong to the classic style of Italian hotel design.

This is a great old hotel with lots of classic style.

At least, it is cheaper and safe  the internal garage of the hotel
The hotel is a perfect stay, for who likes to visit the town by foot, since the historic buildings are not far away.

The staff was welcoming and helpful, the hotel was very classy, Italian old "palace", breakfast was included in the price.

Also, the hotel has a brilliant location right in the heart of Udine's beautiful historic centre.

This has to be the perfect place to stay in Udine, a classic hotel right in the heart of the old town, which in itself is a must visit, with it's piazzas, castle and museums.

Big older style hotel in a great location in the historical centre of Udine right where you need to be for restaurants, shops, cafes and piazzas.

My room was spacious and comfortable with some classy Italian touches.For location, value, comfort and service I doubt you will do better in Udine.

Bathroom is renovated, super clean and modern, the bedroom has a historic touch.

I stayed at the Hotel Astoria, the most historic hotel in the best location in Udine which is the nicest town in the best location to discover this unvisited part of Italy.

The hotel’s conveniently located on the Pizza XX Septembre and has a parking garage.

We could leave our bikes in the underground garage.

They have a secure garage for bikes (+ presumably cars too!).

There are two underground parking garages available (extra charge).

for us this well kept hotel is a sensible central location on our  annual journey passing the city of Udine
clean rooms a generous breakfast and for us very important an underground garage are the advantages of this sympathetic place

If you are by car (like us) they offer a garage (for a price) which is a nice feature because of the lack of proper parking spaces on the street.

I went in to register and the porter brought our bags in and whisked my husband and the car off to the garage.

but someone from the hotel concierge assists you to the garage.

Forbiden to park or leave the car at the door so you need to ask for the garage at reception.

The location is perfect in the middle of Udine with a garage around the corner.

Safe parking off site just 5 minutes away in their private garage.

Rooms are comfortable, very clean and silent. We enjoyed a lovely buffet breakfast Italian style in an inner courtyard, a complimentary garage (please book in advance!)

The hotel is comfortable with good service and facilities, comfortable beds, very clean, good bathrooms and a parking garage nearby (for a small fee).

Parking:  The staff was very thorough in their explanation to get to the garage.

Pleasant service, great location, good breakfast, garage in hotel.

Hotel is well located overlooking Piazza XX Settembre.

The property is located in the centre of the city, yet it is easy to reach also by car (there is a reserved drop off zone).

It’s in a good location, with all the major sights being within walking distance.

It’s in a great location, right on a square and walking distance to lots of interesting squares with coffee shops everywhere.

It’s conveniently located on the Piazza XX Septembre.

The location is right in the middle of town, which for me was the main reason for booking this hotel.

Location is fine, very close to the city centre.

While definitely not a new hotel, it is quite comfortable and is ideally located near the center of Udine.

Once again, I would stay in this hotel again only if I have to make the best use of its location,

This is the second time we stayed at the Astoria and we like the hotel because it is so centrally located.

Stayed for a night and was so happy for its central location (even when the rains came).

Finally, just listened to the youtube music using up the data on my cell phone.

We could only access it in one of the two rooms; we had to sign in each time we moved or even set our cell phones down, despite requesting it to remember us.

The telephone in our room never worked (not an issue, except they claimed to have repaired it, twice).

The only thing I didn't like about it was how thin the walls were, we could hear the neighbour talk on his phone when he stayed at the "living room" portion of the room.

but there is an additional air conditioning in the room, call the reception and ask for the remote.

The WiFi did not work at all, which was very frustrating -- I eventually went to the Vodafone store and bought a mobile WiFi unit which I used in our room.

I’ve since discovered that 20% of Italians are vegetarian, ie the highest percentage of any European country which doesn’t explain the poor effort the restaurant made for the few of us you didn’t eat meat.

But unfortunately 
The sound isolation between rooms because of the door between the rooms was very poor.

but Italian hotel breakfast standards are pretty low, so by global standards it was poor.

Secondly, my Italian is quite poor, yet at no time did the desk staff try to switch me to English or Spanish,

Yogurt -4 choices, jam, honey and a selection of food for people with intolerances completes the offer.

but as there was never a menu on display, I didn't try it.

It’s a short walk to the castle, shops and restaurants.

When pressed, they finally told us about a family restaurant around the corner where we had fabulous food.

Excellent food and service also at the restaurant.

but the dinner was very inadequate, especially if you don’t eat meat.

On two evenings I took recommendations for restaurants around and they were prompt & spot-on with there suggestions that I really liked.

In the meantime I went out to lunch and on my return, a member of staff I'd not yet met informed me that they had set the channel in the big screen without me even mentioning the GP - excellent communication amongst the staff.

The breakfast buffet had a great selection of eggs , deli meats ,
pastries and juices .

but everything provided was extremely tasty and fresh.

What a lovely place to stay.The reception  staff were excellent and very friendly and welcoming.The rooms were very clean and at last we found an older hotel that been updated- no old stained carpets and dusty uncomfortable chairs in the rooms.Clean wooden floors,comfortable leather chairs and pleasant breakfast room.Highly recommend .There are so many bars and restaurants nearby.

but dinner in the dining room was distinctly average.

We had a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom,

I would rate the quality of our room and our sleep as one of the best ever.

Our room was large, quiet, clean and very comfortable with a large bathroom and excellent bed.

One night stay in a  large single room, nicely furnished

The room is comfortable and it was very clean.

though the coffee wasn't (a surprise in Italy) and the room was totally corporate.

They did this despite having rooms available!

We agree with the other reviewers that the room size was great for this area,

I actually quite liked the hotel and my room.

The Superior room we had was just perfect and very spacious.

The rooms are comfy, clean  and spacious, staff is very helpful, and the breakfast buffet is excellent.

The room smelled heavily of smoke, the mattress was old and overall the hygiene of the room was low.

Rooms we got were musty and not worth the money at all; TERRIBLE VALUE.

The bathroom should be cleaned better as there was some mold around the bath-tub.This should be removed.

The smell comes from the bathroom only occasionally,

Any kind of coffee (from traditional "euro-style" coffee to Italian espresso, cappuccino, and of course "americano".

Staff were very helpful and there is secure bike storage.

Reception staff were friendly and helpful.

When asked for a restaurant recommendation at the front desk, they chose one that was a long walk, and a second that was a shorter walk

Front desk is exceptionally helpful and courteous.

Service at reception is fantastic, nothing is too much for the lovely receptionists.

The hotel staff is always very helpful, and we've stayed there so many times they feel like old friends.

But the thing that makes this hotel stand out for me, is the staff.

We were very impressed by the hotel and the staff.

The only friendly person with the young man who was on duty in reception in the evenings.

The waiter behind the bar was very helpful and make sure you spend some time with him :) The price is perfectly fine compared to what we got, we will definitely come back.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a small mini bar with water beer and coke.

Staff were very helpful - thanks for all those freshly prepared coffees at breakfast; patient help with getting my tablet to work with the local wifi, and the genial host of the American Bar.

Bathroom amenities included 2 soap bars, shampoos, gels, lotions, as well as two large, medium and small towels.

Went down to reception, receptionist provided different keys, went upstairs (very slow elevator) to find out the newly provided keys didn't work either.

but a small elevator is available for those not wanting to climb.

Getting heavy luggage from the car parking to the rooms is a bit challenging given the small size of the elevators.

Decoration is a bit outdated, definitly requires a renovation - face lift.

The hotel is near the train station and an easy walk into Old Town Udine as well as numerous restaurants.

It's a short walk into the centre of Udine which has plenty of restaurants for evening dining.

There are several great restaurants in walking distance.

Dinner in restaurant was great, especially our waiter Gianni!

The breakfast hall is not accessible for wheelchairs so we had breakfast at the beautiful hotel restaurant's terrace viewing the park on the other side of the street.

There's a little meeting room, auditorium, cafe which serves an ample breakfast buffet.

Parking is secure and it is a short walk to downtown and wonderful restaurants.

It is also a very decent price and the food is very tasty.

We ate at the hotel restaurant which was very nice

For the cost of the room a very good price for what you get

nice rooms, walking distance from city center.

Our room faced the back street and was quiet.

My room on the 6th floor had a view towards Alps

Some of the rooms are obviously larger than others.

building is really nice and historical - rooms are very small.

YOu will feel like you are in a Pension kind of place, that too one without the warmth that come with a typical pension!

Reception staff were very courteous and helpful.

Hotel has 24/7 reception, and advertises free parking which were the main reasons I booked the place.
