Stayed here in a cold, wet, windy spell of weather in January.

The problem is with airco (doesn’t work), water (either too hot or too cold) and in both the windows  didn’t shut properly.

When you arrive at the hotel, (during the summer for me, for instance) you are given a cold refreshing towel that is not dipped in water,

However, honestly the kindness, helpfulness and courtesy of all the other display makes her cold attitude negligible.

The aircon in my room was not working, the shower was always a mystery game of freezing cold / burning hot water.

And again he tried to charge me more than 10,000 TD ( ten thousand Dinar ) !!!

but fortunately it was more than the card limit.

But after 3-4 days of stay all of sudden, the hotel informed that I would have to pay the hotel charges on my own they would not reimburse it from my company.

The only issue is about the service at the reception they where not able to provide me a correct invoice

There are no USB charging ports in the room,

Unfortunately, this seems a common problem in Tunisian hotels, charging extra and hoping the client does not notice.

A note to help: A taxi from the airport should cost 4 - 8 Dinar, drivers will try to charge more.

This hotel is in an area built with Saudi Arabian funds and the landlord prohibit selling alcohol, no way to get a beer or a glass of wine over dinner.

Since the area is built wit Saoudi funds, I think the no alcohol policy is part of the deal.

They were charged per person, rather than per car which doesn't make sense given that the cost for time and petrol are the same.

but it may take two weeks to reflect on my card.

This hotel made my experience horrible, i booked a suite junior, first day the system of the key cards wasnt working, every time i want to go to my room or in the lift i had to wait for someone to come with me to open the room door or activate the lift.

Upon arriving at the hotel, they insisted on charging us both for the car, at 70 dinars each!

Professional staff, clean room, amazing location, close to the mall, airport and gammarth and sidi Bou said.

I will recommend to came here for staying and most important the rooms were clean.

The hotel has very good location in Tunis (Les berges du Lac 2), and rooms are clean.

My room is very clean,lovely,comfortable and quiet .Decorations are beautiful.

The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable too.

The service, the room and the cleanliness were excellent and the location is prefect to reach all areas of Tunis very quick.

Not to mention the bad Air Condition, and when I opened the window I couldn't sleep because of the street noise.

However, both mattresses in my room were painful to sleep on.

In addition the bed is moving while I'm sleeping.

I'm in a deep sleep at 9:30 - so 2.5hours after dinner-  when i hear knocks at my door.

I couldn't sleep at all, the bed is bad and there was disturbance
 all over the place, and the internet was really bad, it couldn't stay online in my phone, every time I lock my phone I need to logon again .

Unluckily, i stayed in the side of the coffee shop where it was very noisy and could not sleep till they close around 3 o'clock morning time.

There is also a construction site facing the hotel so not helpful if you want top sleep in or during the day.

Now I'm sleeping with an open window and a room full of mosquitoes.

It was good room, just only one note, that the WC doesn't have a water drain on the ground, which when I have a shower the water stuck on the ground and that is a little pit annoying.

One small detail is that you have to ask for the water bottles everyday as they are not provided automatically and the toilet disposables like the cotton kits are not replenished once used.

Poor Aircon, No complimentary water bottles, Stale fruit basket.

and no water after 2nd days

They should have installed a thermostatic water tap.

Not even a bottle of water was offered when they clean the room.

House keeping don't taking care about the rooms as how it should be , dust everywhere , not providing daily water.

The small fridge inside the room and some machinaey (probably the heater) outside made terrible noise.

Downside was that the air conditioning was not strong.

Water dropped from the AC on the floor so that the floor was wet all the time.

I have only 2 comments which need some improvement, first point regarding ventilation system in bathroom is not working.

There was a costant noise due to the nearby vent system room and at 4 am I was awaken by the noise of hammer banging,luckily after an hour it stopped.

The air conditioning in the room did not properly work making it hot and stuffy during the night.

But 2 things were missing 
They have no minibar in the rooms and the AC was very bad if the weather was a bit hotter it would be a very bad experience

It is just that everyone is complaining about the AC.

NEGATIVES – Air con not very effective make sleeping more difficult.

There is a paying parking (well worthed sinc is difficult to circulate by car).

There were some minor faults with our room, the air-con made a loud rattling noise when turned on to full, and one of the bed mattresses was inclined at an angle that gave a sore back.

The reason why we couldn't close the windows was because there was no air conditioning in the rooms available,

"The air conditioning did not work, not an asset in North Africa.

Additionally, the hook holding the shower head in place was broken, toilet water cistern wasn't working properly and the heating couldn't be turned down for the first day which was a bit annoying (but not enough to make us shift rooms again).

even though the room was "non-smoking", there was a constant presence of smoke in the room and the "air-conditioning" (which was really a non-working fan) did not work.

but not especially spacious, the heating did not work and there was a dripping water tap in the bathroom while the staff acted as if they were serving us a Hilton accomodation.

If you want to sleep, do NOT stay in this hotel where the loud noise from the disco next door goes on til 3am.

(Either do it properly or not at all, going through the motions is pointless and irritating) Had a noisy siren one night.

The journey to the airport is around 15 minutes provided there is no traffic issues.

All is well with the hotel except it must be little noisy at night if your room is near to the restaurant.

Furthermore it was very noisy, no warm atmosphere and the food was modest.

I was on the first floor, near the breakfast area, so a lot of noise early in the morning.

- Very noisy both in the corridors and the street.

The first floor (particular room 124) is very noisy, because the breakfast room is on this floor.

- finally chose the front view rooms still more quitter at night as the rooms looking to Kamal Ataturk St are noisy due to disco music at night.

It is being currently renovated, so there is no proper reception area and the movements inside the hotel are chaotic.

That being said, we werent affected by noise at all.

There were certainly positive aspects as well: the hotel seems to have been recently remodeled, a small fridge and room safe are provided, the room was very clean and meals were varied and of decent quality.

The staff is very friendly and professional, the rooms are clean and well exposed to sunlight, the breakfast is excellent, and the location is perfect - a 10min walk to most of Tunis' main sites.

I complained to the manager on duty who simply apologized for his staff poor performance.

Could do better: all sorts of minor maintenance issues with the room (newly refurbished)  - tv needed electrician for twenty minutes to get working - shouldn’t have bothered because it was a poor picture and limited channels.

It was very poor staff experience in the reception not helpful and raised the hands on my pregnant wife face receptionist called sabrain I don’t recommend any one to book directly with them and be carful check in and out as no guarante for renew bookingtbey not helpful

Welcome at the reception was poor and not representative of Movenpick Hotels in the world.

Nevertheless, the room was of poor quality and needs some maintenance.

but the general level of services remain the same, indeed the  TV service was getting poor during last years (ie.

I do not visit Tunis a lot because of the poor service and quality of hotels .

Bad quality , not clean , good location , bad air conditioning , poor menu of food . .

but Tunisian dinar and said we can exchange in airport in the airport all banks refused it the country infrastructure is very poor and food isn't good at all don't travel to Tunis for tourism only for business and better avoid it

Plus I experienced a very poor service sens during the breakfast.

the hotel did not feel clean  the breakfast was poor            there were very little selection there were foot step marks on the floor of the room  there were not any sports channel  the english channel selection was poor

Hotel need some modification and the security from the seaside is not effective the bedroom light to dark this cover the poor maintenance
Also I observed a lot of service people running around

The menu at the Hotel restaurant during lunch is poor.

However, service is VERY poor and disconnected from the standards the hotel is aimed at.

but still have a very poor maintenance or better the construction is poor so, appear more old than what they are.

Room is the biggest disappointment, reserved sea view and paid extra for it and I get a partial view room looking at the roof of below rooms.

Restaurant is very good and prices are not too bad for a hotel chain.

A day pass to the outdoor pool costs 150 TND of which 70 TND is a credit for food.

We were told there is no difference in the size or anything that would justify this pricing.

Firstly, I doubt you will find a pricier option in Tunisia, unfortunately the basic business class quality simply does not match the First Class price.

So we can go out by taxi for 05 or 10 minutes and you have to ask for the taxi meter that will cost almost nothing.

but way more expensive than the hotels you find in the Tunisian tourists big spots.

Staff are not polite or attentive and far below what is expected for a 5 star hotel or the high price.

but is also at least double other going rates for similar transport.

Last detail, in a middle of my stay I asked the lobby personal to mail a few postcards to my relatives and friends in different countries, paid money for the mailing service.

Over priced if we would think of the quality.

The view from the room was very bad as well in comparison with the price paid vs. other hotels in the region (as Ville Didon for example).

but overpriced and not considered value for money.

Hello, we visited recently movenpick gamarth ans we want highly recommand this hôtel, room is clean, pellow, bed are too confortable, they are offering all you need especially water free, the ambiance is too good and relaxing for family.

My week stay at Movenpick Gammarth was great - the rooms were clean, staff was friendly and helpful!

The rooms were clean and  housekeeping staff were very good.

Big hotel, with spacious and clean rooms, kind and helpful personnel, very good breakfast and in an excellent location.

So, if you’ve got a pile of dinars to burn towards burning your keister for a few hours on the beach, go for it, just know that you can basically get almost the same thing for free just a few feet away.

Disgusting Smokey rooms only one restaurant is open and the service there is rude and useless.

Which was disgusting and disrespectful to say such things to a guest .

but cold and gray inside, with rotten smell and taste.

Too expnsive for the quality they offer, some or the room facility need to be maintained properly, and the soaps and shower gel smells really bad, i had to go buy my own shampoo and shower gel from the pharmacy.

but had a musty smell (mold and mildew), amenities were good.

Rooms need some fixing, especially bathroom accessories (hairdryer, wall fixations), shower drains and toilet sewers (unpleasant smells and flies).

but the bathroom was not clean and the smell was unbearable.

The plumbing emits foul odors that permeate the bathroom and hallway (smells of sewerage), at least in the wing I was in that went downhill (the more expensive beach front rooms, too).

Finally, we found insects in the room and bad smell in the coredors

It is urgent to do the work because the smell is sometimes horrible.

Was smoking in the car, speaking on the phone and almost crashed into other cars couple of times.

There was also a bad smell coming from the drains in the bathroom.

There was a persistent smell of sewage in my room during my stay and at times it was intolerable!

They managed to change my room because of the smell

The bathroom layout not the best and a strange foul smell the first night.

The breakfast is pretty basic and they don't have an omelette maker on standby.

No Mini Bar in the room, No Refrigerator & No Electric Kettle, which now a day's even a 2** Hotel has.

but found out that the kitchen was anyway the same.

There are no room service available further a kettle could have been provided.

Unfortunately, there was no kettle in the room, so no coffee or tea.

There was no refrigerator in the room, which would have been good to store my food and drinks.

However, they have neither electric kettle nor refrigerator in their guest room.

Cons: there is no minibar, kettle or fridge in the room so I was glad to have my travel kettle with me - especially as at breakfast they put out thermoses of hot water for tea rather than serving freshly made tea in a pot (but this is a French colony so one can't expect a decent cup of tea.

No kettle, no minibar, no amenities, no complimentary bottle of water, so bring one with you for urgent needs.

To add no amenities are provided in the room (no fridge, no snacks, no water, no coffee machine, no water kettle) nor in the bathroom (except for the 3 in 1 shampoo/soap/body wash).

Only missing thing was Iron and Kettle in the room.

In comparison with the Novotel, the rooms in the Ibis are smaller and furnished with just the basics: no minibar, no couch, less storage space for clothes, a smaller window which is somewhat less soundproofed than those at the Novotel, also thinner doors, cheaper flooring (no carpet), and a cheaper electronic safe.

Everything was good, from the cleanliness of the rooms to the amenities provided.

Friendly Personnel and good quality service, Ibis-style hotel (they look all the same, so you never get surprises), excellent cleaning and tidy rooms, all services available, convenient location along the main  connecting roads towards airport and/or motorway, only few minutes taxi-driving from the City

In an Ibis you know what to expect and this one in Tunis does exactly that, clean rooms, English speaking helpful staff and a good location.

Our room was clean, well equipped and quiet (our main concerns for our one night stay).

However it is the first time I experienced smell of cigarette smoke in a room at Ibis.

By the end of the second day, the smell started fading out.

wished they did not allow smoking in the restaurant.

The only downside was that I found myself in a smoking room when I returned, a disgusting smell of stale cigarettes permeating everything.

I was given a smoking room that smelt like an ashtray increasing the oppressive feel.
