but our ‘cards’ and identifiers have been checked.

Staying the night there is a 30 dollar charge to park valet for the night that should be included when booking rooms for the stay .

Lucky for us, our credit card company let me file a late dispute and issued a refund.

The price was extortionate $710 per night and extras added on everywhere, car parking around the hotel has been stopped and now charged $10 per day, taxes, resort taxes, everything is charged on top!

To the hotel’s credit they never used “understaffed” as an excuse.

This should have been done prior to charging guests full price.

If you are not ready to be open for guests then you shouldn't be charging full prices or at least advising guests that service levels will be low and restaurants are closed prior to booking.

The worst part about it is that they have the nerve to charge $600 a night for this!!!!

To remedy this situation, the hotel might start by requiring key card entry to the parking garage.

They obviously provide parking in their own building and yet they still charge guests to park there.

but the one morning we took out, we got a little bit of a hard time on whether we should be charged for a side order, something that had not happened when we sat at the restaurant.

but some  charges really are not necessary.

Needless to say, I will not be paying the $10 up charge

I felt cheated and I could have used my points and funds to stay elsewhere.

My only ask would be usb charge points in the room.

Unfortunately, people that do not want to pay the valet charge

On checking our bill with reception towards the end of our stay we noticed we had been charged twice for our breakfast on two separate days so I would suggest people scrutinise there bills before settling up.

However, when we came back we were seriously overcharged.

When I pointed out that other guests were stopping con-guests for quick snaps in the walkways and if he planned on penalizing them for that behavior, suddenly his story changed to he had been in communication with Greg in charge of the Con and he had 5 photographers who were cleared to be doing shoots and was i one of them.

We enjoyed treatments at the spa as well as their private pool.

Loved my stay at the Marriott for a weekend. Great food selections for gluten free

The spa and state of the art fitness facility are phenomenal along with a lap pool for those who enjoy exercise!

Nice pool and pool service over Memorial Day weekend

The outdoor pool area was large with plenty of space for all.

The resort sells day passes to the public so the pools, restaurants, parking and other areas were completely packed over Easter weekend.

The pool area was clean and well staffed/maintained.

The pool  and lazy river were nice and relaxing in the evening's once the young  kids were back at their rooms.

We were given room 3339, a Premium Pool and City view room on the same floor as reception.

The hotel itself was great, staff lovely and the facilities ideal, gym, heated pool, golf etc.

But, the pool water was warm -- the management said the water temperature is 85 degrees and it sure felt that way to me.

The grounds and pools areas are lovely, though in Feb we had cool weather and could not use them,

Even in December, the lazy river and pools were enjoyable and very nice.

Would like to stay again when warm enough to take advantage of pools.

When you arrive, the resort itself has gorgeous views from every angle with views of golf courses, swimming pools, a lazy river, and hills of cacti for what seems like miles.

Between the hiking trails, the pools and lazy river, the ping pong and corn hole we enjoyed every minute.

The poolside food was really good as was the breakfast buffet.

He was very attentive and ensured our poolside cabana experience was fun!

An example: We asked an employee at poolside, Ezekiel, where the lap pool was, and he took us to the lap pool while giving us a tour of the property.

The positives- room was super clean, staff were all vwry friendly and professional. Lots of pool seating and clean towels, and you could order drinks and food poolside (those servers were working so hard- please tip them well!)

The food at the Signature Grill was lovely; my poolside Ultimate margaurita was one of the best I have ever had.

We ordered poolside one day, and the others we got takeout flatbread pizzas and salads from the JW Marketplace, which we brought to the pool.

We continued to receive excellent service throughout the property; from poolside to the front desk and every restaurant we stepped into.

We loved the pool area and lazy river - also the poolside food service was very good.

Poolside service was excellent, dinner at Primo was fine (the desserts were the best) 37 dollars for 3 scallops wallowing in mushroom sauce was a bit excessive.

but poolside servers were prompt and friendly.

Poolside food 🍕 and drink 🍹 Service was great as well.

The restaurants served delicious options, the breakfast buffet was wonderful and the poolside service and options were excellent.

They have several resturaunts, quick food stand, and poolside bars and servers to attend to your requests.

Also keep the poolside restaurant open later, this is a great option for guests who want to eat at a casual restaurant.

However, the pizza by the poolside was excellent!

Not only had the pricing gone up over $150

but when they arrived at the sub par Marriott Property in Tucson, they were told they would have to pay a higher rate for the one room with a single bed.

Rather, I wound up turning the AC down to a lower temperature which is costly and wasteful

A little on the pricey side and there’s really nothing nearby unless you have a rental car.

Bathroom floor looked dirty/stained

For a JW class hotel, at what amounts to a $300 per night for the room (including a $30 resort fee),  I expected better

The resort is also very pricey for Tucson.

My only quibble was that the reservation was very expensive

I don’t know if dining prices are up because of overall food prices/inflation,

but I would have been very disappointed if I had paid the room rate of over $500 per night.

Like all these places they have an outrageous "resort fee" that is just another revenue driver-$35/nt.

While guest paid top dollar for exclusivity and privacy, the hotel sold unlimited day passes (via respite pass) to the pool and lazy river causing the parking lot to fill up.

This property is not worth the money we paid.

Meanwhile playing regular prices for holiday inn type of hotel.

Way, way, way overpriced, as are the restaurants.

Hotel is 15/20 mins away from anything else in Tuscon and the food options in the hotel are very limited and same bland and over priced food.

The rooms are clean and there are three quality restaurants on site, as well as a Starbucks.

Everyone was so friendly, especially Terry at the signature grill, where we had breakfast.

Bring back the class bring back great salads and food and more options worth the money and clean it all up and repair replace for a more enjoyable stay.

We ate at happy hour a couple of times and the food and drinks were very good.

There are several restaurants at the resort.

The multiple choices of restaurants provide for delicious meals for the entire family.

Restaurants on site with plenty of different selections for the family and different taste buds.

Food and drink is really good as well as room service.

I could not get  a number for the restaurant,

Both onsite restaurants are  wonderful. .

An off resort steakhouse is 10 min driving time and well worth the drive if you want to change things up a bit.

The evening cocktail hour was good and we had a server at Breakfast named Terry that was five stars all the way.

Like to watch watch movies on the room TV?

They would move us to another room mid-way through our stay.

The room was stunning and had so much space for all of us.

This resort has over 3000 rooms and they chose to give away the room of a mother and her two teenage daughters.

The first night was awesome - I was upgraded to a room with a fantastic view.

My ratings below:

Room: clean, giant tv, huge pillows, big bathrooms 9.2/10

Gym: one of the best hotel gyms I have seen.

Staycay-ed at the JW for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience from friendly and fast check-in to a quiet and cool room with a beautiful view.

Hotel did have activities for kids that seemed fun; and there was live music each night 

Room was just ok.

The fire pit areas offer lots of room for a lot of guests.

One time they did send a bellman to our room to help us check out, which we of course did not need.

The rooms haven’t been updated since it originally opened.

It was a large room decorated mostly in Marriott brown - carpet, furniture etc.

We had a great time, the staff was wonderful, housekeeping left us kind thank you notes for the tips we left in the room.

The room was a nice size, hotel is very dated.

The staff were so accommodating and kind throughout our stay.

This review is strictly about the front desk staff.

Generally we have a great stay and see the same people and staff who are fabulous; 9 out of 10 times we are upgraded to a lovely suite due to our frequent stays and my husband’s status as a Marriott Ambassador, which again, is lovely.

But it was not easy and neither the staff at the JW nor the downtown Marriott were helpful at all.

He made our morning with his friendly disposition and thoughtfulness.

Service was nice and polite with what I encountered.

Location /Distance from the self park ($10 per day), to the front desk was lengthy.

We played with a couple guys that were hosting a corporate event and they were even more disappointed than we were.

but the three guys at the valley didn’t lift a finger to help us, they just talked to each other.

2) They advertise an affiliation with a cycling tour company -- mountain biking and road biking --

We love to resort hop and always have a great time at the ones in Phoenix and here in Tucson as well.

We enjoyed the early 6am guided hike in the neighboring Tucson Mountain Park.

David, the bell hop also provided excellent service.

The 6:30am free guided hike was terrific.

There are some great trails next to the hotel, and they offer complimentary walking tours.

-at 6 am on my departure date, I was able to join in on a free guided tour of the surrounding area by a tour guide.

They offer a complementary sunset tequila toast and a complementary morning guided hike and cleansing ritual.

The location on the hills is increadible, free guided 6 am hikes every morning to introduce the local flora and fauna + all the hiking in the ~60 miles of hiketrail network in the region makes you just want to stay out there for a whole day.. if it wasn´t that hot :D
It´s not the cheapest

If you want to go to the offsite you can hop on a free shuttle bus and they will take you there and back.

We were there to tour the University of Arizona and loved it.

We enjoy the morning hikes which are guided by knowledgeable staff and the evening tequila toasts are always fun (even if you don't drink).

Free morning guided walks, golf resort, heated pools, really nice gym, the best views of as it is on a mountain.

The location near UA was also a plus since we did a college tour there.

Although we were only there for three nights and spent a lot of our time visiting family and/or sightseeing in the area, we did enjoy some of the great facilities at the resort.

From the moment we walked in, the staff astounded by bringing us glasses of refreshing fruited and herbed waters and then after the quick check in, walked us around the main floor and gave us a great tour of the property.

From the valet folks to front desk, to the bell hop, to pool staff, restaurants, etc.

They paid attention to blending in with the area and offered guided early morning hikes through the desert park across the street.

The entire stay exceeded our expectations and just wanted to mention a few staff--Carlos (engineering) we encountered him as we were doing a self tour of the property.

but I can overlook that for the value and location.

There are breathtaking hikes just steps away from the hotel entrance.

The views are spectactular and the breakfast in the am at Signature Grill is superb.Although this time, our waiter, Terry,  was one of two waiters and he was rushed and missed a few things.

My wife and daughters drove to Tucson from the Pacific Northwest to stay a few nights at this resort as part of a relaxing vacation.

The spot they offered was in a dark, unlit corner, with no chairs or tables, and no view or connection to the entertainment at all.

Really great hotel in the hills above Tucson, with views over the city.

The surrounding mountains and saguaros were beautiful.

The patio has amazing views during the day as well as night.

This was a beautiful resort outside the city proper which allowed for amazing views of the city and also the night stars.

The  i upgraded to a suite with a balcony overlooking the lazy river.

The location is great for the views and relaxing

The desert surrounding the hotel is breathtaking.

It had small balcony and even out non-premium view was lovely.

We had a very spacious casita with a patio, gas fireplace, desk, comfortable sofa bed and reading chair.

We had one night out of 4 that was comfortable.

Lovely grounds, huge, comfortable rooms and great breakfast.

Our room was immaculate with a comfortable bed and top shelf accoutrements.

Rooms are large and comfortable,  the bed soft.

Our Casita was comfortable and loved the original feeling of the tile work.

Beautiful, clean, very comfortable bed and pillows!

It was super quiet so we all slept really well, and the bed was super comfy for my parents.

This trip was medically related and so having a comfortable place to stay in a very stressful time was of upmost importance.

Our second floor, east-facing room was bright enough and huge, with a very large bathroom that included a tub, and we found the bed very comfortable.

Bed was very comfortable, ample linens, towels and toiletries supplied.

Bed and bedding very comfy, dog friendly hotel, clean, and reasonably priced.

Our ground floor room was very roomy with a comfortable king size bed.

The Lodge on the Desert is an elegant hotel with gorgeous landscaping and grounds, classic adobe/hacienda architecture and Southwest decor, and comfortable rooms.

It is comfortable and safe, the service is personal, the grounds are beautiful.

The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable.

The room was quiet and the bed and living room furniture were comfortable.

Our room was comfortable and well appointed.

The room was spacious and comfortable, tile floors, fireplace and very comfortable bed.

Our room was huge and the bed was very comfortable.

Lovely grounds with attractive plantings and cozy seating areas.

However,  once you settle in, and start soaking up the atmosphere,  you discover it's true value.

The historical Tucson feel, beautiful architecture, the rooms and property are so clean, and the breakfast is really good.

Truly an oasis  and such a pleasant ambience when you walk through the grounds.

Charming staff, cozy casitas, and delicious meals.

This place has a great atmosphere, beautiful grounds, well appointed rooms and very friendly staff.

The grounds, landscaping and architecture is well maintained and BEAUTIFUL.

It's still a little slice of heaven with excellent, friendly staff, great maintenance of building interiors and unusual green spaces, including a desert/cactus garden.

The front desk informed us that all of the rooms are different, some more rustic than others. She (Cynathia?)

Outside the nice leather chair, bed backboard and side tables/nightstands, the rest of the furniture and furnishings were of different styles and felt like they were assembled from hotel furniture liquidators.

The 2nd floor suite was spacious and tasteful with a subdued SW design motif.

From the classic Adobe style of the rooms to the sprawling cobblestone walkways & green space, everything there invited a sense of ease.

The grounds were clean, beautiful and the buildings are a pristine white adobe.

There is a small, charming pool adjacent to the the lobby and games/reading room, which are elegantly appointed in Southwest style.

The Southwestern style low rise buildings and decor and cacti create an authentic Southwestern ambience.

Things that were great: Casita decor, wood blinds, large shower.

This is the place for people who appreciate balancing comfortable lodging with caring for the environment.

One bedside lamp didn't work and there was no chain or working deadbolt on door.

In addition, the door had holes in it and you could see light coming in at night (enough that I didn’t need a nightlight).

The attached photos tell the story:
•	furniture is really beat up – scarred, stripped off veneer, wobbly
•	the sole hook for used towels, on the back of the bathroom door, is gone – and it would not have been enough in any case
•	paint is beat up in some places, splotched over mirrors, faucets, and trim in others
•	dust and hairballs in the corners of the room
•	electrical outlet plate half missing
•	old, beat-up ceiling exhaust fan in bathroom that is as loud as an aircraft engine
•	shower door permanently fogged with hard water stains.

The only issue we had is that housekeeping knocked on the door early in the morning and we asked them to come back.

Spaces weren't really wide enough for a modern SUV or truck, so be be prepared to park a little far out if you don't want a door ding.

Housekeeping came pounding on our door the first morning 8am on a Saturday! My husband yelled "no housekeeping."

but also looked right at the walkways and doors into other units.

So peaceful, you never heard doors slamming or people walking halls.

The front door had gaping gaps on 3 sides of the door.

The only issue we had was the next door "neighbor" who watched tv VERY loud until late at night.

The door frame had such a draft that you saw the sun shining right through the cracks.

The bathroom door was difficult to open or close.

A few minutes later there was a knock at the door. When I yelled through the door the response was "housekeeping."

Issues with a door lock were handled promptly and never interfered with plans.

but when opening the door we were met with a very strong stench of a very unpleasant disinfectant.
