A central breakfast room is open 24 hours with an honesty box bar for fruit juices, wine and coffee.

It was very dark, no natural light and a strong smell of damp plus shower floor look dirty.

The room was a little on the dark side and didnt have a patio or view as such

but was perhaps a bit dark for our tastes but all the rooms seem different so ask.

however no fridge, no safe very dismal and dark.

The room was somewhat dark and airless, with only possibility of air to open the bathroom window, and it smelled of damp.

We'd asked for a room that was dark and peaceful to sleep in and the Bukowsky was superb.

but slow due to lack of fiber in the village.

The pool area could accommodate no more than  8 people on loungers due to the restrictive area around the pool.

We arrived well after check in due to a missed flight and we were accommodated without any hassle.

but they were so kind to cancel our booking at the last minute without a cancellation fee when we had to miss our trip to Italy due to an emergency I just wanted to highlight their prompt and very kind communication.

There is just one seating and unfortunately due to rain we had to eat inside

Water would seep in behind the tub and given the room's poor ventilation would sit there.

Relaxing areas on the roof terraces again looked very dirty, cushion covers looked like they could do with a good wash, furniture poor condition, roof board walks rotting.

At times you feel in a compound.Wi-fi very poor .Yes the reviews show the Palazzo will appeal to many .

we didn't use because it had a bad chlorine smell. Pool is nice

Outside Areas:
Permanent smell of poo and cats urine from the resident cats.

but was musty smelling and I immediately wanted some air in there. The area outside our room was a "shared" sort of greenery walled lawn (which I found strange for Pugila, grass? )

We ate in the hotel once and it was gratifying to hear and smell the slow-cooked octopus stew being prepared from late afternoon.

The beautiful floor and vaulted ceiling are really special and the front window looks out over the small square and the church.

We closed the windows on the first night and ended up sleeping 10 hours.

All the sunshades and gazebo drapes were deeply impregnated with black algae and filthy dirty which had obviously accumulated over time and not from the rain we were experiencing.

The only thing which could be annoying for some travelers, was the fact that our room had a window on the street where all "nonnos" of the town meet.

Breakfast and lunch were delicious and there are a couple of restaurants within a 5 minute walk which are good for dinner.

The bedrooms are clean and comfortable - it would be hard to beat the delicious breakfasts

We loved everything about Don Totu - the insanely beautiful grounds, the delicious breakfast, the amenities, and most importantly, the incredible staff.

The service is absolutely impeccable and includes a breakfast with local products, a sweet treat in the afternoon, an aperitivo with the cocktail of your choice and room cleaning service in the morning and in the evening.

Breakfast each morning was fantastic, with great and changing choices each day- in fact, breakfast was so good and filling we didn’t ever have room for lunch! I think it’s important to have a car if you stay here - nearby castro, Otranto and Lecce are well worth a visit and  SAN Cassiano itself is quiet (for stress free driving on the wrong side of the road!)

There were so many little details that really made the trip, like homemade gelato served to us at the pool every afternoon, an included aperitivo every evening, a rooftop cinema, yoga every morning, amazing breakfast on offer, homemade cakes on offer in the kitchen throughout the day.

The staff were very nice and a special mention to Davide who was super helpful and had a very friendly and welcoming way about him.

Breakfast started off with freshly squeeze juice made as requested along with eggs and other breads available.

Breakfast was an absolute delight and Ada’s omelettes are without doubt the best in my extensive travels.

PS the breakfasts are very, very good too - fresh fruit, eggs made to order, hams, cheeses, home made yoghurt - and I particularly liked the home made tart made each morning - the aubergine tart especially - delicious!

I must admit, when we pulled up to this place, the building front and location were so unimpressive that I assumed there must be a mistake given all the fabulous magazine reviews.

Don’t make the same mistake as me and book for only 2 nights!

But as heavenly as that stay would be, it would be a mistake.

leaving the bathroom misty after taking a shower and leaving it smelly after using the loo.

Being old, there was a slightly damp smell on entry, and the bathroom's fittings were a little tired and in need of renovation (the toilet seat was cracked and the staff were having trouble sourcing a replacement).

It also included a courtyard which we only used for drying clothes and a large dressing room which had a slight smell of damp - the only thing I could really find any fault with in the entire hotel!

Refreshingly no penny pinching here - breakfast, wifi, parking, powered and non powered bicycles, aperitifs/snacks and limitless cold and hot drinks etc are all included.

Hot water constantly running out, we had a couple of “fresh” showers. No ventilation in the small bathroom (No window!!)

Their solution is to simply turf their large bags of household waste out of their car windows as they drive along both highways and backroads.

The windows are so bad, if you close them, you still hear the noise from the street like its in your room.

The rooms are remodelled, pretty basic especially the bathroom where there are no shelves or hooks in the shower to hold the stuff.

They should be more careful with keeping the amenities clean.

On arrival the shower was blocked so the water would have spilled into the rest of the bathroom had my sister not stopped halfway through her shower.

- the cleaner used our bathroom on our second day and left a huge deposit which they didn’t flush 
- went to alert reception and they didn’t care
- no toilet roll replenishedk
- on arrival our room floor was covered in black hairs
- our shower was blocked and made the room smell of sewage until someone came to fix it on day 2
- so many mosquitos 
- the cleaners left our door open and unlocked 
- having come from otranto where we were spoiled for choice of food the food here was awful.

What I didn t like: bathroom is a bit tired and they should renovate it.

Minimal bath amenities provided (only shampoo).

The pool is a major drawcard, as are a few of the other amenities including the 192 steps to the Adriatic, the table tennis, tennis court, boulle, etc.

Steep steps everywhere and steep slopes made of rough concrete that if you fell would shave your skin off like a razor blade.

In the morning the international breakfast had a little bit of everything, a great varied spread.

the good things were great (swimming pool, room, breakfast and breakfast view) and the bad things were even made good - by the staff.

I counted 130 from ur romm to the carpark and a few less to go to breakfast or dinner.

Dinner is on the balcony of the breakfast room and again the view is incredible.

I don't know how this place has multiple good reviews, I am genuinely shocked, I would call it a bed and breakfast at best, in no way is it a 4 star hotel.

The restaurant at the hotel does a great breakfast and also does dinner.

The restaurant is a very beautifully decorated dining area and you have the opportunity to sit outside on the verandah where you gaze at the sun and sea whilst sipping on some delicious wine.

It is a short distance walk to Castro alta where you can find local shops and delicious antipasti with wine in the afternoon.

The only reason for not giving 4 stars is the fact that the rooms and general area’s are really outdated and have not been refurbishment for a while, this makes the general feeling a bit negative - 

While the rooms look ok in the pictures, in reality they need to be remodeled fast.

The general condition of this hotel is dilapidated and not up to it's 4 star rating.

The breakfast is held in a shady area overlooking the large square in front with views  to Olive groves and outbuildings, one of which can be booked to stay in.

Sometimes you get lucky and we were lucky to meet Francesco and Paula the owner / operators of this fantastic masseria which is a type of bed and breakfast in a centuries old farmhouse.

The food was local seasonal and delicious using ingredients from the gardens.

Breakfasts were perfect, different every day.

The breakfast was again very very ample and had lots of fresh local food.

A superb breakfast of local produce, with a wide choice to suit all tastes, Paolas home baked goods were particularly delightful.

The simply authentic decor , lovely clean rooms ,  sumptuous breakfasts , relaxing lounge areas for a nap or before supper drink and most importantly the hosts .

The breakfast was every day different and richly made with homemade crostata, Italian specialities like foccacia and a various range of selected breds, homemade yoghurt, marmelade and fruits.

The breakfasts were so delicious and they had plates and glasses we could use to sit in the courtyard at night and have drinks and antipasto.

One of the best spots of our holidays in Salento. We really appreciated the hospitality, the quality of the breakfasts and the room (forget the tiny rooms of the big cities hotels!)

Francesco and his wife Paola are so warm and helpful and the breakfast is absolutely delicious with lots of home made Italian goodies!

Perhaps it was just our room……We own an old listed property, the issues we mention aren’t the hallmarks of faded glamour or of an old building,

as the building is indeed beautiful and the staff very nice (although sometimes a little out of practice as it seems and some of them a little overwhelmed (to say it nicely) with the need to work for a few guests being present at this time of year .

There is nothing much to say except that everything was literally perfect: the place is very well furnished with modern pieces of work and furniture while keeping the beauty and the roughness of this mid-19th century building; the simple

We had a hard time finding the hotel—it looks like every other building.

but be aware that your booking may get cancelled with short notice so have a back up in mind.

We parked and got out to walk to try to find it and finally noticed the very small sign near the door that indicated it was a hotel.

but the real reason why people should be thriving to this place in the middle of nowhere and without a nice town surrounding it is yet to be found.

There is really nothing to do in the town itself,

or the chairs both for the inside breakfast/dining and the outside dining as being very simple and very uncomfortable folding chairs. 2.

The breakfast included everything I could think of, rooms were very stylish and always enough space to park right next to the hotel.

Breakfast was very good, loads of food, good coffee, pastries, fruit, all you need to start your day!

The hotel Callistos has a restaurant serving excellent breakfast and dinner.

We enjoyed the breakfast service, it had a wide variety of meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit, and hard boiled eggs.

Quite a variety of stuff for the breakfast, it would be even better if there would be fresh juices.

Breakfast is a large selection of items; fruit, cereal, gluten free products, cakes, traditional foods etc.

Breakfast was fine, and the service at the front desk was exceptional.

Having said that they do a great continental breakfast on site.

Very nice, friendly and always helpful personnel; big, clean and beautiful rooms with own terrace, comfortable bed and spacious bathroom; tasty breakfast buffet with a great choice and fresh fruits; two gelaterias nearby ;-) and Tricase center can be reached within a 10 minutes walk.

Don't enter the underground car park on arrival, you'll be locked from the hotel.

However, to explore a little further afield, say Lecce or Gallipoli it is useful to have a car as the public transport system is "not reliable" and this renders taxi journeys reasonably expensive, as we found out.

Probably has the router not enough power.

A truly brilliant few days, the hotel is on an olive farm and is rustic and beautiful with two pools and an excellent breakfast.

Also noteworthy, the best breakfast I've ever had in my life!

From the moment the gate opened to reveal a majestic view of the vegetation, to the delicious and beautifully prepared dinner, to the clean and comfortable rooms, everything about the vacation exceeded our expectations.

Breakfast was continental and bakes that morning.

The breakfast they served here couldn't be topped by any other hotel during our vacation: fresh cheeses, omelet, home-made jams, breads, cakes, fruit, coffee.

Important to mention: The breakfast is absolutely great.

We ordered dinner consisting of local specialities - all perfect.

We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and great breakfast with local specialties.

All delicious and beautifully presented, and a great opportunity to try something new every day.

Unusually for Italians, breakfast is in the form of a large brunch (9.00-11.00) of local food, more sweet than savoury

Note that you have to bring your own beach/pool towels, and must wear a cloth cap in the pool (to prevent hair clogging the filters).

but probably compensates for the weather during the summer.

The hotel provides a continental breakfast, and espresso machine real cappuccinos or whatever you prefer at breakfast.

The free breakfast was quite appalling, everything was processed or packaged, we skipped it after the first day for beautiful alfresco fresh orange juice and toast down the street at a nearby cafe instead.

Breakfast was fresh and light, exactly what you need to start the day.

We were partly only 2-3 couples at the breakfast or on the terrace - apparently too few for the waiter to get in properly.

Followed closely by the food and Chef - both terrific and it never seemed to be a problem to rustle up something delicious at a moments notice.

They also offer a restaurant service still with sea view and it's really delicious!

Bizarre affair with our bedroom door which could not be locked from inside.

The restaurant and bar were closed and the only staff member around was on the front desk and they left at 10pm, telling us the main door would remain unlocked overnight.
