Dinner and breakfast was a dream and service was outstanding.

The location is absolutlely beautiful, the staff is exceptionally courteous and helpful, the food was delicious!

We ate in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and both meals were fantastic with a large selection of food during breakfast.

The food is awesome and breakfast there is nothing missing from the fresh eggs the farmer up the road gives them to the fresh bakery items and homemade jams.

At breakfast, home-made preserves, locally sourced fish and meat, and traditional offerings are included.

The only remark about the service was that for our dinner it was quite slow and confused; waiters were running in all directions and mixing orders.

but for some reason the heating never came through.

The only reason why this didn't get a 5 mark is it just lacks a couple of modern creature comforts, such as the wifi didn't work in my room and perhaps the TV is a little small,

there is no more beautiful location as the Sevilla, right on a pristine lake , quiet, no cars  or trains to be heard, only a very occasional seagull.The Tacoli Family are charming and professional hosts, the food excellent, with a quite extraordinary wine selection, apparently each one tasted by Count AlexanderTacoli himself-wishing him good health.

The food is good, try to have it on the outside if weather permits.

Set right on the lake, you can dine while taking in gorgeous views of the lake.

The dinining is European , diverse , and complimented further with an extensive wines and finished off with desserts you can not run from .

The restaurant is very fine and to swim in the lake, as my husband says, without goggles, is a treat.

We had a wonderful room overlooking the lake and our views were just breathtaking.

A trip on the lake is also a calming and lovely experience.Staff at the hotel very friendly and the lake views from  bedrooms is highly recommended.

A special place with a gorgeous view onto the lake of Millstatt which is a joy to have next to a fanstastic and well done deer from the Region and nice wine from Friaul.

We had a spectacular view of the lake with white swans from our room.

My double bedroom with balcony on the first floor beside the lake has a view unequalled by any other I have seen.

From the room (room 9 with a balcony facing the mountains), to the bed, shower and food.

The view out our balcony was actually indescribable.

On a good note there is a great drying area, also a washing machine too which you can use for a small donation.

If you are looking for a holiday away from the usual touristy areas then give this a try.

Willem knows the area well and can point you in the right direction.

To gethe best out of your stay Willem will make up routes downloadable to Garmin/Tom-Tom which show off the local area customised to take in the things you want to see.

The roads around this area are a paradise for bikers, the hotel offers set routes that they are happy to load onto your satnav (gpx file enabled) or they have adapted a mixture of routes to suit our needs.

The roads and scenery in the surrounding area are outstanding, making this hotel a perfect base for biking holidays.

Had initially found about of this location some time ago at the NEC bike show and used it as a base to visit the surrounding area.

Nothing to much trouble including motorbike repairs, sat nav routes and owners have a great knowledge of the area.

The hotel has an underground garage area for around 10-15 bikes and a large drying room, with the washing facilities its ideal for bikers to travel a bit lighter on the luggage.

but was clean, unlike the bar & dining areas across the road which we shared with the innumerable dead flies on the windowsills.

Things to see in the area: the Helmut Pfeifhofer Porsche Automuseum, a privately owned and operated museum in Gmünd in Kärnten, the Porsche Werk just a few kilometers up the road from Gmünd in Kärnten where it all started post war, and of course, the Malta Hochalmstrasse to the dam at the top.

All the staff are incredibly friendly and John the hotel owner and fellow biker is superbly knowledgable about the area.

The area has lots to do and the Karnten card provided when you arrive will save you a fortune !

We stayed here for 5 nights and found the owners knowledge of the area very useful.

The hotel is set close to some of the best roads and scenery in Austria with easy access to Slovenia & Italy so no shortage of things to do from this great base, add in Johns extensive knowledge of the area and roads and your in bikers / drivers/ walkers heaven.

Three of us booked a five night stay with our bikes to tour the surrounding area.

This is a great place to stay in a wonderful area.

A well equipped service area is provided.

Breakfast was good, a few choices, fresh rolls from the bakery next door, we had a few evening meals which were good and reasonably priced.

Breakfast was typically Austrian and plentiful with fresh bread straight from the bakery next door.

The accommodation was all we needed - a good sized room with en-suite and a lovely view over the valley, an ample breakfast in the morning and the facility to have an evening meal if required.

but the breakfast on offer was fantastic and really hit the spot.

The house keeper had our beds made whilst we ate breakfast which was a nice touch and then Willem and Wilf prepared us a route for both days we had ride outs from the hotel.

All cooked fresh and ordered at breakfast for that evening.

From the welcome as we arrived (complimentary drinks were brought out within minutes), to the room we had and the evening meals and breakfast.

This was to be the way for the next 5 days ;-) Buffet breakfast set up by Crystil every morning, pots of tea at the ready and back to our room all cleaned and beds made by the "room fairy" Pauline, thank you folks.

Food was very good and room was clean and comfortable.

Dinner was good and plentiful and we then spent a while stargazing, the night sky here is amazing, so good that it’s difficult to make out the constellations.

The nearest town is Gmund (about 4 km away) which also has numerous restaurants and a very interesting Porsche museum.

second stay here with new owners will and vonn who are old freinds the new bar diner is brilliant and as is the terrace-would never get tired of the veiws excellant location and great beer and food good base for exploring the nocamstrasse and grossglockner (not good spelling!)

Walker, climber, hiker, cyclist or just plain old drinker who wants to sit in the beer garden staring at the wonderful view, everyone is welcomed with open arms!

Instead were given a warm welcome from the owners and staff and a hearty meal with some fantastic pints of Guinness.

It's great to have a meal & beers with other like minded bikers as you'll find a few staying at this mecca.

The food was great, we were on a half board option and couldn't fault the variety, quantity or quality.

Their excellent hospitality didn't stop there; the evening meals were excellent and the cold beer was always on hand, great in the sun on the patio area.

For very little money you car stay here HALF BOARD and you can chose your evening meal, from a small selection, and when you want it.

Loved our stay at the Hochalmspitze so much we came back for another few nights on our European tour.

We’d ridden from the UK in two days and had covered just over a thousand miles and we asked Willem if he could recommend a nice route for us to ride that wasn’t hundreds of miles and he gave us a corker of a ride, around 180 km of the best roads you’ll ever ride and even uploaded the route to my GPS.

Will is also a motorcyclist and can download around sixty routes onto your sat-nav for days out.

We stayed for 5 nights and the team at Gastof Hochalmspitze were extremely helpful, particularly with ride routes and downloads to our sat nav.

John has many great routes for your sat-nav and listens to you so he can guide you to choose routes most suited to you or your group.

We made full use of the sat nav routes available.

By utilising Johns local knowledge and his very usefule route guides, we got to see and ride some fantastic roads with scenery overload.

John was happy to load all the road maps and motorbike routes onto the sat-navs and willing to provide plenty of local knowledge.

but OK.  Vegetarian option was pasta, every night, so disappointing,  there are more varieties of vegetables than meat after-all, 

Staff were friendly and John was especially helpful, providing trip advice and loading sat-nav routes.

John seems to spend all day loading routes onto guests sat maps and he even seems to enjoy it.

Booked three nights as part of our tour, purely on the reputation we had heard about Hochalmspitze and it certainly lived up to the hype.

I stayed there while on my 2013 Alps motorcycle tour, my 19th year in a row touring Europe and the Alps.

He's always available to give advice on routes to take and places to visit if you've not ready planned your itinerary.

It was a excellent location for Motorbikers and the planned routes that we traveled on come highly recommend for anybody staying there.

While there our maps were updated and each day John helped programme in our routes.

Rooms are basic, décor, linen, and towels very much in the 1970's Blackpool B&B mold,

however none of the towels had been changed, just hung up.

And she was asked by the owner (the same rude chef:) "you wouldn't change the towels that often at home, now would you?"!

as for the towels if you read the notice on the bathroom wall is says if you want the towels to be changed please leave them on the floor which in my experience is standard practice across the board these days.

The accommodation also was sub-standard with tired worn bedding supplied and also hard Towels!

overpriced for what was very basic accommodation.scratchy bedclothes towels not changed for days, crappy food and a patronising ,overbearing host who made us feel we were causing a huge inconvenience by being there.he ruffled the feathers of everyone in our party in our stay.We are all professional people made to feel like a bunch of undesirables.We were booked in for 5 nights

Lake is close as close are all best ski resorts of the area (carinthia).

The hotel has a sauna – few different sauna’s, relax area, outside relax area and tea station for guests to use.

This hotel is well situated for all activities in the area.

but also the the great workout area and the relaxing zone.

Wonderful base for seeing the area by coach and I recommend all the excursions offered by Shearings.Don't miss the Maltatal optional trip.

The pool area and gardens were peaceful and there was so much to do in the surrounding area it was a wonderful base.

The restaurant was very good, the swimming pool is nice, and breakfast has good quality.

Breakfast was lovely with fresh bread and rolls Austrian style, nice coffee machine where you can grab your own coffees, egg station, cheese and cold cuts, yoghurts, cereal and bircher.

Breakfast was an extensive buffet, including bacon and eggs cooked to order if requested, by pleasant staff.

The breakfasts were excellent with a very good choice of both hot and cold food - eggs and bacon fried while you wait.

In the morning you started with an excellent breakfast from breakfast buffet you'll find in 5+ hotels.

If this hotel only provided bed and breakfast then it would be a good hotel.

Equally important, the staff was super helpful, and the hotel is well equipped to deal with bikes and bicyclists.

This was one of the hotels on our Alpe Adria cycle trip.

Our keys were out waiting for us and the very kind owner showed us around and where to park our bikes in their car park.

Very friendly staff, good breakfast, good dinner, easy parking, a nice view towards the mountains.

Staff were very friendly and the hotel has great breakfasts.

The kitchen providea Austrian/Kantern dishes that are so delicious.

Very nice breakfast and room was nice as well.

The pizzeria was amazing, fresh & delicious.

Breakfast was excellent with various menu. Overall, I loved to stay there :)

Problem is the streets next to the hotel make it very noisy

It tends to get a bit noisy towards the road, at least if you are not used to hearing any traffic.

Although I was tired so my sleep was not disturbed.

You both are a tremendous asset to the hotel, both of you will be large part of why I will stay here again.

but changed our mind meeting the helpful and kind personnel.

Don't expect highly qualified staff though, more along the lines of someone doing anything from reception to clearing tables (which adds to its charme though).

Its very friendly (I got a beer from the receptionist as she checked me in).
