Super friendly front desk warmly greeted me at checkin, patiently explained everything about the property and his recommendations about club lounge and breakfast choices for my club level 1br suite.

However, we received a phone call around 10 pm from the same person who helped us check-in and told us we had to change room since this one was booked by another reservation tomorrow.

The bedroom curtain wasn't working as expected, need to call housekeeping & the engineering department several times to get that fix it.

They do not help to call for taxis and they will just direct you where to walk.

I still cannot understand how can they not call taxi for us!

On the 4th day of our stay, the coffee capsules were not replenished and the coffee maker was not cleaned, we have to call to have the coffee capsules.

more than that, we didn't expect that they can remember our name, and call our name each time when they see us.

At the spa, a staff member had a loud phone conversation, apparently with a customer who was cancelling a booking at the last minute.

What we are seeing is so nice and unbelievable, Thanks so much, Mr. Jordan for you and your team very professional and tailer made job this time!

He contacted the driver and asked him some very detailed questions.

And each time once we check in this hotel, we are always impressed by Ivan Yang’s professional manner and smiling face!

This time stay was impressed by the club team again.

It's my first time stay there and as the titanium member I could feel the elite appreciation from the service team.

During my staycation, all the staff performed very well.

Every aspect here, from service, catering, to guest relations as well as COVID-19 prevention, is extremely professional, integrating a terrific service chain.

Mask is required for all the hotel staff, and this hotel provides hand sanitizer on every convenient location.

The staff is well trained and attentive, especially at the executive lounge.

Everyone we met here has a smiling face and greeted hotel guests warmly.

The service in club lounge is truly best-in-class, timely, proactive and detail-oriented.

From front desk to room facilities, room service , fitness spa etc..everything is perfect.

Her humor and her smile really glorified our experience at the hotel.

The hotel grounds are my favorite in the world and the staffs quality matches the design - exquisite.

However dining room service was so poor, server didn’t introduce each dish, just put the dish on the table, we ran out tea, have to go outside room to find the server to add hot water, no server in the room, we need anything have to wait and wait and go outside to find the server, and we booked and paid for is private dinning room, are they supposed to have a dedicated server!

When he found I was sweating, he kindly and initiatively opened a bottle of mineral water for me.

One of the bath towel had a smell of seafood or sea water.

Stay in the first night: the bathroom to leak, water diffuse room; stay the next night: the hotel outdoor activities, the sound is too large, in the room can not chat and watch TV; stay the third day early: because people need breakfast waiting.

We tried out all the little tubes of shampoo and body wash (Asprey Purple Water's thyme scent is lush), then dressed for dinner.

For examples, there is only 1 small soap,  1 shower cap, and 2 small bottles of water for a room with double occupancy  daily (we have to call service center to request for additional bottles of complimentary water on a daily basis).

It's a shame I couldn't tempt my wife down there, as she doesn't like swimming much - in this pool, she could touch the bottom and still have her head above the water (and save my neck in the bargain from being clung to!).

The rooms are nice and modern , if a little dark and as is typically Chinese the Aircon isn't very good.

The heaters were off on most of the displays and food was left cold  and trays were empty for 20 30 minutes each time.

but the heating was on full blast, and there was no way to cool it down.

Not possible to controle the aircon in this so called 5 star Hotel !!

Like the previous reviewer our main issue was with the air conditioning system.

The reason this is important is because the hotel had turned off air conditioning.

While you can lower the temp, you won't get lower than 23.5.  you can only truly control the fan speed, you can hear it change.

Bearing in mind the temperature outside was just above freezing it was all a touch bizarre.

My aircon also did not work and I heard many other guests complaining about this.

We experienced two problems during our stay, first it was the temperature of the room: it was really hot, and even when they brought an movie AC unit it still was hot.

The room did not have air conditioning already on.

A/C was locked so that you could not cool down below a certain temperature.

butler meant that I can not change it, as the aircon switch off when I am out and then it is too low engineering to cool down.

They set the thermostat to 8 degrees and said that the temp would be better.

Apparently, the hotel engineers are still working on the temperature controls and all they could do was provide a small portable A/C unit, which lowered the temperature a mere 1ºC to 25ºC which is still hot thus making it very unpleasant to sleep or hang around the room.

Our overall experience was good, i was just upset by some details such as the heater.

but they need to fix the air conditioning temperature, and lookm forward to being able to use the pool and spa.

The service was impeccable, Ayden our Butler was so accommodating and friendly, anything we wanted he arranged.

Service level is good, staffs are very friendly.

People smoke everywhere you can smell cigarette smoke in hallways.

When I entered the washroom, I can smell lily, fresh flowers.

Upon getting into our first room, I noticed a strong smell of cigarette smoking and told the front desk.

The change in this river from rather dirty and smelling in the hot weather, to the beautiful clean river it is now, with walks, and parks most of the way down the north side from the Wheel to the Astor hotel, is dramatic. Bathroomwalls have not seen a wipping Cloth since month, bathroom was smelling like a fishpond.

Not smokey and worn like most hotels would be after 2 yrs.

There was a strong sewage smell from the toilet area,

Shower area also smelled bad, no question of that.

but there would still be a faint whiff of the odour occasionally.

Although this meant that the hotel was spotless, it still did smell of construction and chemicals.

Great view over the river , amazing Butler team, and excellent F&B services.

Every whim was seen to by staff that always had a smile on their face.

But the Mr. Burak (the Turkish FnB Director) and his Chinese servers,

And took me to the St. Regis Lobby Bar for a gin
I asked the about dinner his team was working its magic to prepare
A buffet of delicious courses and flavors were filling the air,
I went to my room where I was welcomed with fresh fruit and macaroons.

The housekeeping staff was attentive yet unobtrusive.

Cons difficult yo control temperature in rooms.

The surprise was in terms of facilities: several members of our team had issues with their room temperatures and in one case, required a room change.

The temperature was too high, especially at night time (we like a cooler room).

So, if you need your room temp below 22.5C, I would suggest staying somewhere else.

However the temperature of the room on my stay was way too hot, around 26' and could not be altered.

Also, the room temperature control and shower water control were unreliable at best, truly un cooperative at worst.

Most facilities sadly had been closed, guests were few.

although leisure facilities such as the swimming pool were closed as a precaution.

The curtains closed and blocked out all the natural light.

The swimming pool was closed for maintenance reasons and the wifi is so slow that you can hardly use it.

Special high appreciation to Daisy Zhao, Supervisor from Horizon Club lounge, who is always accommodating and super attentive, She is very nice lady with smiling face and always deliver 5 star service what we definitely enjoy.

The view from the 32nd floor lounge, the highest club lounge in the city, offered sweeping views of the city and the Hai River - not a bad way to spend breakfast.

Staff in the Club Lounge are consistently good.

The staff in the club lounge, Sophia and Helen, are tuned in to guests and know when to engage and when to be reserved. Nice.

Excellent breakfast if you stay in the club lounge, they have a special breakfast set (where you have buffet and made to order items).

We made sure to make use of the great spa and pool facilities and the Horizon Club lounge, where we could sip champagne whilst enjoying amazing views out over the city.

The Horizon Club lounge has great cakes and sandwiches in the afternoon and enough snacks in the evening to be able to do without dinner.

I would like to thank Ronaldo from the club lounge, he made us feel so at home.

The pleasant professionalism of the multi-lingual staff in the Horizon Club Lounge and in the Health Club is excellent.

Returning after an absence of three months, I was greeted like a friend with the staff in the Horizon Club Lounge also remembering my personal tastes with drinks at breakfast and in the evenings.

I was at tge Club lounge at the Shangri La HOTEL in Tianjin  The service was excellent specially from Helen CAO she was pleasand and very proffesional.

Staff at reception were friendly and check-in and check-out was fast and easy except a girl at the breakfast buffer area who needed extra training about customer service.

I checked in late evening at the business lounge and was welcomed by the team with big smiles with a pot of hot tea and food.

Be it check-in and check-out process, rooms, wifi, breakfast, restaurants, spa.

We indulged in hot stone couples massages and they were absolutely phenomenal.

After swimming, I also liked the sauna where I could recover from fatigue.

My husband and I went for lunch in the lobby and then had an amazing massage.

The shower is equipped with Sauna, Steam, Jakuzi as well.

For those visiting Tianjin and staying in hotel  must put health & spa experience on priority list.

Also the spa area is really suitable for that.

If you have time for a spa treatment I recommend the aroma vitality massage by Lucy, she was fantastic.

We enjoyed a Chinese Wellness Massage, in the couples room.
