The hotel was in a perfect location near all the main attractions.

The St Regis has the best view of Hai River, and fantastically located for the best upmarket mall in Tianjin and many top attractions in Tianjin.

Nearby several tourists attraction and shopping centers.

Cons difficult yo control temperature in rooms.

We were unable to regulate the room temperature on the control unit in the room.

The only downside, which is out of the hotel's control, is playing frogger across 2 busy streets to get to the other side.

I stayed at the JW Marriot in Beijing in the fall, the climate control was immediate and true.

The only minor issue was the pressure in shower was very week in room 1236, and the rain shower trickled, and the control for the shower was too distant from the shower spray.

Also, the room temperature control and shower water control were unreliable at best, truly un cooperative at worst.

Another quibble - the shower controls were so complex and unmarked that it was hard to figure how they operated.

although this did has its draw backs especially when controlling the music as the volume control often took to long to reach the network box and we ended up with it blasting out.

Apparently, the hotel engineers are still working on the temperature controls and all they could do was provide a small portable A/C unit, which lowered the temperature a mere 1ºC to 25ºC which is still hot thus making it very unpleasant to sleep or hang around the room.

Real annoyances were the slow internet and the security elevator.

The elevator tells you it's in the basement, so I headed down there and walked the entire floor and could not find the gym.

While, only 2 things not very happy:
1) There were 2 rooms on 7th Floor occupied by a local company promoting their products & services, so there were always a man & 2 or 3 girls standing in elevator lobby chatting, eating and littering around, and many visitors coming up & down, which was very annoying & risky.

Service is ok. 
Food was very average and somewhat "Chinafied"so to speak..not your typical St Regis..the best part was when a local family entered the elevator with us, and their child proceeded to urinate in the elevator.

Can improve:
- swimming hats were mandatory, we had to buy them there because we didn't bring any
- the wonton noodles i ordered for in room service dining were not that great for that price
- more assertive attitude for some staff members
- better explanation how to use the hotel keycard, especially in the elevator, can be annoying
- a humidifier could be offered as said on the hotel's website,

We walk to the elevators and found the lobby bar still open and serving.

Quibbles: the card key system in the elevator seemed to be hit-and-miss - we were hijacked a couple of times.

but is hard to find - signage once you get off the lift is poor.

As on my first visit, I was a bit dissapointed with the cleanliness and maintenance of this Hotel, I can say that this has obviously improved.

it is not the everydays houskeeping, it seems to be, that there is no plan for frequent maintenance and Basic cleaning.

You need to contact an employee who then needs to contact maintenance to turn them on.

I called and they sent two maintenance fellows.

Rooms are clean, we had a room overlooking the river.

The room was spotless and so beautifully clean, 
It was one of the best-furnished rooms I have seen.

Front desk staff and room cleanliness were great.

It is overall a really nice place with excellent service and this time my room was really spotless and the aircon worked well - like one may expect from St. Regis.

The rooms were clean, of a superior quality and beautifully decorated.

Make sure to scan the QR code to become a member…I believe a whole duck was 268 yen, the membership brought the price down to 228 yen.

While you can lower the temp, you won't get lower than 23.5.  you can only truly control the fan speed, you can hear it change.

my only complaint is that I think free Wifi should be included in the room.

But such a hotel cannot charge for internet, let alone have such a slow one.

but one would expect the internet would be free which it was not for me.

Internet connection was not free (100 RMB per day) and this is something I still found unacceptable in Hotels, as this is today the most basic service you need to get in a Hotel room (this is like charging you to watch TV in the room).

Then, there's the large glass partition separating the bathroom from the bedroom with only a small partial curtain so that it's not possible to use the bathroom at night without streaming light into the bedroom, potentially waking your partner.

a huge hotel should be able to afford a mechanic to fix their AC within an hour's notice, let alone 4 days.

Toilet didn't flush and had to call the staff to fix the air conditioning 3 times.

In our room, one of the electrical sockets did not work and after calling housekeeping, the technician said it could not be fixed, and did not give us a reason why it could not be fixed.

The windows are fixed so could not let the cool outside air in to sleep .

2 nights in a row needed help to reduce the room temperature and get aircon working which incidentally wasn't fixed so had sleep in 23 degrees!

The engineers left with some dirty boots marks and finally fixed the bathroom lighting mid afternoon.

Because they felt I should not skip a meal, they went to the kitchen and fixed a small to go meal so I would not get hungry while I worked late that night.

They will try to charge you for things that should not be charged for, such as extra bottle water in the evening, the people that fix your air conditioning expect a tip, and when room service is ordered they expect a tip

Things don't work in the room and no one knows how to fix them.

The initial check-in and poor restaurant management did their damage to customer's first impression.

guess other poor services need not be mentioned.

Possibly struggling ahead of the influx of Davos visitors,this visit was characterised by poor service and inexperienced staff who failed to communicate when things went wrong.We arrived late in the evening,so ordered dinner in the room,but it never arrived.

The supervisor said the new supplier of the cups provided some poor quality lids and they would contact them, they seemed to know that.

I was surprised to find their "Heavenly Bed" was such a poor condition.

but I give it a very poor rating due to the dangerous mold health hazard as well as the service levels are more to a 3.5 to 4 star hotel NOT 5 star hotel as advertised.

The breakfast was pretty poor on choice and the service was low compared to other hotels in Asia - difficult to get a smile.

There were still little insects/flies in the water basins, I suspect the water pipeline or somewhere was really dirty and the insects could fly through them and something in the process is seriously wrong.

And then, the glass partition in the bathroom was full of water mark and "hand print".

The change rooms are also poorly maintained with still water and towels thrown everywhere and the pool attendant does not clean the lockers, once you have finished using it, he just puts in a new towel and locks it back up, no wiping or sanitizing from all the wet and sweaty clothes from the previous user.

Was concerned that the water would spill over into the area outside the shower "room"

but the changing room had an unpleasant smell and the automatic cold water shower at the pool entrance is something the hotel should change.

but the pillows at this location were stiff and the water pressure very weak.

-The checkout process took 20min longer than anticipated due to this deposit issue.

however, the hotel staff apparently had no idea how to refund the deposit correctly.

The room was clean and comfortable with a spacious size.

The room is clean and the bathroom is extraordinary modern.

Very great hotel, room clean and all necessary to stay, very good breakfast and restaurants with very professional chef and people to receive you.

Moving on, the rooms were well-appointed, spacious and comfortable.

The letters from Ms Amber and from General Manager, The room impeccable, the club lounge very quiet , elegant, excellent food, and of course the staff.

The bed is very comfortable,room is clean, service is good as well.

The room itself was immaculately clean, and beautifully laid out, with attention paid to all the little details that make life easier (coffee machine, bucket of ice, BluRay player that handled my USB of Christmas viewing), and the view over the HaiHe River was simply stunning.

The other day, I lost my stuff in taxi, and I called the driver.

They do not help to call for taxis and they will just direct you where to walk.

She had also arranged for our Yule Log to be boxed and refrigerated overnight, and for a taxi to whisk us back to our home.

I still cannot understand how can they not call taxi for us!

When we asked a door attendant to hail a taxi, he smiled politely and said he was too busy to help.

Hence, it would be easier for you to direct the taxi driver if they have no idea where Ritz Carlton is.

The only negative point was the A/C in the room wasn't put in use when we were there, despite of the warmer than usual weather (day temp 26C).

but the whole night there was a strong smell of tobacco coming probably from the air ducts.

Unfortunately the hotel turns off the air conditioning even if it is still needed.

The only thing I wasnt 100% about was the aircon system in the room - it didn't seem to work!

but the room was very cold even when I cranked up the thermostat to max the room was still very cold I can just imagine the heat in this room in the summer they definitely have a big problem with the AC in the room.

I would have pointed out that switching the aircon off didn't seem that smart then;

The second time I was there I did not have the issue with AC,

They do get rather warm when the curtains are open and the AC does not quite seem to be able to keep the room at an even temperature.

The only drawback is a bit warm in the room (during spring time)  as no aircon and requested us to open the window . ..

Location was ok - close to the Ferris wheel and Dabei Temple with a lovely view to the river.

The hotel has a very nice location and Tianjin eye view from the room is great.

The hotel is situated in a good location on the trendy riverfront, and has a nice view of the Tianjin eye (if you’re lucky enough to have a room facing that way).

but the rooms are spacey and well located for exploring Tianjin.

This large hotel is in an attractive location by the river, and is very suitable for tourists and foreign travellers as the staff generally speak good English.

It's quite crucial to choose a well located hotel in Tianjin as it's know for the congested traffic.

Unfortunately, some guests don’t seem to pay attention to non-smoking signs, so there is quite often still a hint of cigarette smoke in the rooms.

The fungi is obviously already older and was not removed, despite that the hotel claims to be 5 stars.

though they put a lot of no-smoking signs everywhere, including the rooms, it does not mean that people won't smoke.

It was a bit difficult to find the hotel due to the traffic signs in Tianjin,

though the tiles felt like they could have done with more cleaning (a bit slippery underfoot, a sign of mould??)

the temperature controls in the room was not working properly.

I whacked the air on on which lowered the eventually lowered the temperature

As a spire elite, we were upgraded to a corner room which was quite big and had incredible views of the river and surrounding areas.

The hotel is near to the Tianjin Eye with amazing views of the city.

The View is just amazingly breathtaking especially at night.

This year I got upgrade to a beautiful view room.

It has amazing breathe taking view of EYE OF TIANJIN which looks best from top most floors.

From the Executive Lounge you have a beautiful view over the river and the city.

I only stayed at this hotel because I wanted a clear view of the Tianjin Eye.

It is nice to travel with friends this time .At the beginning of the ordinary room,we were pleasantly surprised that the front desk had upgraded our room,and service was very good.The traffic is very convenient,the evening scenery is very beautiful,and the room that sees ferris wheel.I like this hotel.I will be back for next year Holidayinn,and I will choose this hotel in Tianjin.I hope you can stay here longer and enjoy the scenery while you are on vacation.

But the view is nice and also the environment.

The pros were the site of the hotel, the room with a view and, of course, always positive Mr. Victor who asked us to join his every Friday party.

The view of the Tianjin Eye and river was quite nice.

We have views of the river, and the Tianjin eye.

During winter you can go middle of river with icy water.

In house shop to get water, beer etc at normal pricing.

I came early for breakfast and it was not completely laid, in the afternoon there was no tap water in my room, in the evening and morning the day after tap water had a light brown color because of stain coming out, carpet charged me with too much static electricity.

The head didn't stay in the 'hook' meaning we had to hold it over the head to get wet, put it on the ledge, turn the water back to bath mode, get soapy, turn the shower head back on & hold over the head again to rinse off and so on for hair washing.

Especially in the evening when the carrousel is lit and all locals hang around in front of the water to light off air balloons and to listen to live music.

After shower, I noticed there was a huge puddle of water on the floor.

As our stay here was part of a tour, I cannot comment on pricing.

Didn't get to interact with any of the staff, so cannot comment about this.

They soon discovered the mistake and informed my colleague personally and offered to waive his breakfast expense as token of sincere apology.

I should have corrected the office when they booked me by mistake into this rather than the Renaissance Hotel I had requested.

We shared a twin room - the room was clean & modern

You know, I’ve been to a few hotels in China, from palatial rooms in Beijing to some really unacceptably smelly dirty rooms in Shanghai (and some nice ones there, too!)

Not only is the location excellent (within walking distance to the MTR station), airport direct via the sub-way is only 20 mins away, the hotel room is very clean, breakfast is of international 5 star standard!

The hotel is clean and the rooms comfortable.

Good location right near the central train station, clean room, outstanding bath, very good restaurant, good breakfast: overall a very pleasant stay. Recommended.

The place desperately needs a serious renovation and housekeeping needs retraining on carpet cleaning.

The former Renaissance Hotel hasn't renovated after taken over.

however the hotel is dated and needs a remodel.

The hotel is a bit dated, and in need of renovation, which can be noticed from the speed of the lift, the doors that need attention, and furnishings too.
