Clunky noisy A/C units, rock hard mattresses, shoebox tiny room, paper thin walls, dispersed building, tons of staircases, cramped car park aso aso Bring your walking shoes if your given one of the many remote rooms.

Otherwise the AC was quite noisy and disturbed sleeping.

The week we were there June 19th there was a heatwave and and  with no air conditioning in the main lounge or even electric fans there was no alternative

but the sink had hairline cracks, the shower cubicle doors were 'rickety' and the radiator had chipped paintwork.

No air con, very crowded and very uncomfortable.

but the air con in the restaurant couldn’t cope and the bedroom, although refurbished still had old air con which struggled at night.

The hotel seemed to have an issue turning the air conditioning on.

The air conditioning in the room did not seem to be working as cold as we liked it

The air con is not working and the staff are finding all sorts of excuses from it's too warm outside

Air con in room good.En suite Shower difficult to control - temperature alternates between scalding and freezing.

We could hear everything our neighbours did including flushing their loo and blowing their nose!

The radiator in the en suite had a sharp piece of metal sticking out which made it even harder to find somewhere to stand without getting injured.

The pool area, although quite small, was never too busy - we would rather be out and about so didn't use it much - pool is freezing

Although the weather was hot, 30 degrees plus, the air conditioning kept the room cool and wasn't too noisy.

Lighting and storage in the bathroom were both poor and the extract fan did not work as it was turned off during periods when the air conditioning was running.

Air conditioning was supposed to be on from 1 June

I am not usually a hotel buffet dinner fan

Some parts of the hotel could do with a bit of updating and a bit more aircon being fitted around public areas.

but are forbidden to bring your own drinks into the hotel. The air conditioning was very noisy but without it you will bake!The food was varied and plentiful but don't expect traditional English breakfasts as some guests did (?)

Would recommend given the condition of most other properties in the area, even knowing Splendid Palace requires outdoor and indoor renos this still is a nice station when visiting Lago di Garda

This time, we used the private pool area that give access to the lakeside, we had not used it last year.

There was a nice sunbathing area below the main pool with access to the lake for a refreshing dip,

Our room was narrow—the bathroom practically claustrophobic—but we booked last minute and were at least able to get a room with a stunning SSE view of Lake Garda and Limone,  The outdoor pool was big and warm, with plenty of sunbeds, and there was a second smaller pool in a more secluded area and an indoor pool with a grotto feel.

The swimming pool area was spotlessly clean, with a nice pool bar for lunch.

The ferry service negates the need for a car as it runs to all the main areas and runs very promptly.

Wow everything about this hotel was spot on from the room, cleanliness,view, food, pool area and location.

Such a lovely area of lake garda, this hotel is prime location to explore limone.

which we watched from the great bar/ terrace area of the hotel.

The restaurant, bar and pool area is lovely with plenty of good standards sun loungers and we never struggled to get one.

We were very impressed on arrival by the main reception, lounge and terrace areas

It is a 'sprawling' hotel and anyone with mobility issues should request a room close to the main reception area.

The views from the bar terrace and pool area of the lake and town are amazing.

The hotel has a lovely private lower pool area which is great

If you are looking at the hotel and want an incredible view with easy access to the area then book here.

but she seemed very knowledgeable about the area.

but ok for a few days;
No area of the terrace is designated non-smoking & smokers rule, right!

The cleaning staff keep this hotel - the rooms and common areas very clean.

The pool was cold and the sauna is surcharge.

An indication of the ungracious approach is the signs telling people they will be charged if they bring alcohol into the hotel, and in the breakfast room telling people not to take food away with them.

We were celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary and on our return from a trip to Malcesine, found a bottle of sparkling wine, a fruit bowl and a card from the Hotel which was a very nice thought.

Also charged for each electronic device which is unnecessary I think; the hotel's wifi bill can't be that high!

even though t of doing same  and it went as far as to say if caught it would be charged for.

As others have noted, charging for the sauna, internet and room safes is such an outdated practice, and even at only 1eur each per day, seemed pointless.

but as it did not work they did not charge.

Yes, they do charge you for Wifi, 1 Euro per day per device.

A) Room had shower only,preferred and pre requested a bath,but did'nt get it, B) Internet was charged at 1 Euro per day,per device & more often than not would'nt connect.For a 4 star hotel think this should have been included in the price,the groups sister 4 star hotel Le Palme, elsewhere in Limone, did include free wifi, even for non resident guests in the bar/restaurant.

but had double bed and balcony at no extra charge.

It was only during the explanation of the charges that a paper was waived under my nose showing that I had to pay extra.

Just one slight downside is that the hotel charges for wifi (1 euro per device per day) when I think this should be free in this day and age.

The charge is one euro per person, per day.

Normal charges are one euro per day per device and the speed/bandwidth is low dropping out occasionally.

but I think charging for a safe and wi-fi needs to be dropped.

The wifi for which there was a small charge proved more than adequate for our needs - a bit of web surfing and email etc.

Just back from a week staying in this hotel, would highly recommend, can't say a bad word about it, location and views are superb, spotlessly clean and staff very friendly, our favourite had to be Jeton the bar waiter,  so hardworking and friendly.view from our pool view room and from bar terrace at night

When we checked in, the receptionist noted that we had been there before, and any time we asked reception for information during our stay, they were never less than helpful and friendly.

The staff were so welcoming and friendly, one waiter told us we were the first English speaking guests this season.

This was our third holiday here and we were drawn back by the wonderful views from the hotel, the friendly staff and cleanliness of the hotel.

Views are amongst the best on the lake and I highly recommend the secret pool, we spent two days there virtually on our own

although the standard of cleanliness was good, toiletries were not replenished on a daily basis - for this to be a  4* hotel we would expect this to be done.

Bar prices on a par with others in and around Limone, with the added bonus of being able to enjoy your drink on the wonderful terrace offering great views of the Lake.

The food on offer was high quality at both breakfast and dinner, with an excellent variety of choice.

The choice of food in the restaurant is as good as you will get anywhere else and all of a very good standard.

This is by no means what you would expect in a 4 star hotel!

The rooms are cleaned to a high standard and that to me is all that matters.

but is excellent quality I can honestly say I enjoyed everything I tried during the week .

but on the whole it was above average (especially a comedian/magician called Remi – very entertaining indeed).

Dinner was lovely, desserts delicious and breakfast was ok. Don’t expect a full English though.

We compared this to a 4 star we stayed at previously in Sorrento so this is obviously what to expect in Italy

The food is always of a very high standard with  lots of choice and the dinning room staff are very effeciant

Amazing buffet for dinner full of choices with high quality.

We had a few days visit to this hotel and our expectations were not met.

Food was good quality and always seemed plenty to choose from.

The staff in the main are lovely and do a hard job with a smile and a chat.

This is my fourth time staying at the splendid Palace in beautiful limone the hotel and all the staff are so welcoming the food was plentiful and lots of choices at breakfast and also the evening meal there is also a snack bar at lunchtime the pool aera has plenty of sun loungers i would return to this hotel again

Lovely pool, comfortable room, helpful staff, great breakfast.

The staff were helpful, polite and on the ball with service.

The  reception staff were very welcoming and helpful as were the restaurant and bar staff.

The hotel is spotless thanks to the hard working staff.

He was more than helpful and deserves a special mention.

We got the distinct impression that it was for the amusement of the staff rather than paying guests.

From arrival to departure the staff could not have been better.

The room view most the most amazing thing about staying here.

The view from the room and the drinks terrace upstairs was spectacular.

There were three nights of entertainment and we danced out on the terrace under the moon and stars with that wonderful view.

Ok so the layout is due largely to its position up against the rock mountain

The main one is location, it's just stunning with some of the nicest views I've ever had on holiday and very close proximity to the town.

This was our first stop on our way to our first excursion into mountain hiking in the Dolomites.

Our room had the most wonderful view over Lake Garda, and was very well serviced every day.

The hotel offers a super view over the northern part of Lake Garda.

Our room was comfortable with a balcony and lovely views.

A walk up the mountains at Limone is lovely - just make sure you have the right shoes on for the walk.

We had 2 deluxe rooms that were amazing with spectacular views of Limone.

The views over the lake and down into Limone were spectacular.

Three swimming pools, one indoor and a lovely pool in a “secret garden” overlooking the lake.

but felt this time overlooked and it felt very little effort had been put into any thought about choice for people on gluten free diets.

A truly excellent hotel, ideally situated for lake views and access to Limone and all it has to offer.

Check in was smooth and we were directed to our room when we got to our corridor and I saw the carpet on the wall I didn't hold out much hope for our room

The walls are thin and provide minimal soundproofing.

Room view when you open the door is a stone wall.

Stayed 1 week ,on arrival shown dingy room on lowest floor with a fine view of a concrete wall and nothing else.

Strangely it had two small balconies separated by a wall!

There is not a mark on the walls anywhere.

Really this area should be a World heritage sight and Limone with its Medieval streets and limestone walls which weave their way through the lemon groves to the town is by far the prettiest of all the Garda towns.

We overlooked a wall and the rooms were small (especially 404 and 408) I think these should only be for one person,

Gym available if you want it (but doesn't open until 8am)

The cons:

Bedrooms need a decor update as they are quite old fashioned, as are the hallways (carpet on walls?).

The only criticism we could say was the odd waiter could be noted as being abrupt (Cultural) and the fixed wall hairdryer was not man enough if you have thick hair - Although you could borrow one from reception.

However, if you are on floor 4 (the bottom floor) your view is obstructed by a high wall and trees.

Hallways to the bedrooms have carpeted walls.

The walls between the rooms were also quite thin (you could hear a lot of what was going on next door ) The food was something we were really looking forward to after reading a lot of the reviews.

We were in room 419 if you want a BIG room ask for this one. It won't suit everyone as it doesn't have a balcony (we never needed one).Outside the front door is a wall(outside the front door of rooms in corridors is another door opposite !!)

Picture if you will, carpet which runs along the walls in every corridor to a height of 3ft up the wall, fake flowers in abundance in both the lobby, bar and restaurant, patterned everything - all clashing, dreary lighting in the room, and a lack of ambient lighting in the communal areas also, tiny ensuites with nowhere to hang towels save an awkward towel heater half way up the wall and beds as hard as a board, no luggage rack, no tea and coffee making facilities, no iron and a worse than useless hairdryer.

While the rooms are modern and comfortable, the main areas are definitely outdated and give a kind of sad atmosphere to the place, so is the fitness room.

There is a sauna in another section of the swimming area and a hotter sauna for the more daring,

It’s a very decorative hotel with plenty of seating areas.

The hotel is in a wonderful position, the pool area excellent, the hotel really is a gem, traditional Italian, friendly service, superb food and a real taste of Italy.

We were luckily designated one of the recently refurbished rooms at the back of the hotel, which overlooked the outdoor pool area.

The bar area was nice and also plenty of seating in the main reception area.

Breakfast was good too
Reception staff were helpful, as was Thomas ( porter)
Loved the terrace area to relax and read and enjoy a coffee.

The room was spacious and comfortable with a substantial balcony overlooking the pool area.

The WiFi signal was fine, improving as you near the main lobby area.

We have recently returned from grand hotel liberty, amazing old building which I love, lots of character, perfect location, lovely pool area outside.. staff helpful, nice breakfast.

The hotel is right in the centre of Riva del Garda so it is very central to the lake and all the shopping areas.

What IS a lovely feature of this hotel is the spa/wellness area.

The main areas of the hotel are very elegantly styled and its location only a 5 minute walk from the lake and the town centre shops and restaurants is ideal.

The bar area is pleasant and was usually quite busy.

All in all a fantastic hotel especially when  you take into account the price in relations to other hotels in the area.

The spa facilities was in the highest class we saw in the 7 nights we stayed in the area.

Despite the hotel being virtually immaculate we had to strip our bed in order for the sheets to be changed mid-stay, we also didn’t have any of the little toiletries replaced so had to approach reception to ask.

If you book through an agent (we went through Travel Department) you have to pay a one off fee of £15 per person for your towels and robe.

The reason for the relatively low room temperature were probably the completely dilapidated, leaking windows.

One very small niggle was the lack of a shower ..we had a bath only.

No magnifying mirror in bathroom (very handy for me for contact lens/make-up).

Just one small shampoo and shower gel and no more!

also on the corridor was a public toilet - so there was a certain level of noise from the bar and the public toilet each evening.

The outdoor pool was not warm enough to swim in and use of the indoor pool was conditional on paying 15 Euros for the hire of a towelling robe and towel with an extra charge of 3 Euros if fresh towels were required on subsequent visits.

Bathroom have mold on the celling and arroud the toilet.

That said, there are lots of amenities in Riva itself including biking, playgrounds, the park, the lake (of course) so there should be lots to do in the locality to keep kids entertained.

In Italy it costs €1.50 to spend a penny, in a public loo, only open during business hours, sometimes not during.

but to add insult to injury no bath and the walls are simply filthy .

No replacement when you use the little shampoo, just shampoo/conditioner/hand soap so take a shower cap etc.

Annoying that you have to pay for robes and towels for the spa.

Having stayed at the hotel previously we had a far nicer room without paying extra.. No showere screen so very difficult not to flood the bathroom.

but there was always hot water for our showers.

although dinner service was a bit chaotic at times it was entertaining

but the bathrooms all need shelves as there is absolutely no place to put toiletries etc.

The bathroom could have done with some modernising as it was a little tired, bearing in mind the hotel has a four star rating.

We were disappointed with our rooms as they were dated and in good need of a refurbishment, especially the bathroom and threadbare carpet,

The carpet in the room is in urgent need of renewal.

Thread bare carpet, upright old wood chairs and a narrow metal bed frame with a board and rubber mattress completed the look!

The carpets especially look quite worn in places.

Carpets were ripped in  some of rooms Bathroom would need to be replaced.

The carpet on the hallway is ripped, torn and patched as is evidenced in the photograps I have.

Carpets are shabby & bedrooms need up grading too.

The furniture was awful - a dark wood sliding wardrobe which must be from the 1970s which was probably the era the red carpet was laid.

They are small, dark and overlook a car park.The corridor carpet leading to these rooms should be replaced as it is threadbare, I spent as little time as possible in the room as it was so depressing.

The bedrooms are old fashioned and in need of repair for example, no toilet roll holder on the wall (just screws where it used to be), the wardrobe doors have seen better days, carpets in corridors and stairs needs replacing.

Most of the furnishings and carpets in the hallways and our room look tired and some probably need replacing

The carpets in the corridor needed replacing and somewhere along it there was a hole under the carpet.

but maybe a bit of money needs to be spent on the corridors to upgrade the threadbare carpets.

The corridor outside had frayed carpet and extemely dark wood.

Carpet and Paintwork needed urgent refurbishment.

It was quite small & old fashioned -dark wooden furniture, dark red carpet, floral bedspread.

On the ground floor this hotel is very nice and modern and is up to the 4 star rating, on going to the first floor the carpet in the corridor is old and worn threadbare in places.

It was dark with a mangy carpet and the bathroom was full of cracked tiles and hair from the previous occupant.

Every staff member we encountered were professional, friendly and genuinely wanted you to enjoy your stay.

We used the bar when we came back in the evenings and the staff were very friendly as were most of the staff.

The staff are  friendly  and very helpful who do there best to make your stay comfortable.

Food is amazing and the staff were very attentive and friendly especially Shalju,Antonio and Maurizio.

Also the staff is really friendly, there restaurant is SUPER!

The pool and the terrace ilare very nice, the staff friendly and the breakfast super tasty.

All staff are friendly and helpful, you really get the feel that they love working there and are a credit to their employers.

The staff who served us & looked after us were efficient, good humoured, friendly & patient.

The dining room staff in particular were so warm and friendly.
