Excellent food choice at breakfast and good service.

Every Morning Swimming in the lake to wake up-  Nicest view from the lovely terrace with Whirlpool, Great breakfast buffet, nice and friendly  stuff!

Breakfast was a huge choice and to sit and enjoy the Lake  views was a good way to start the day.

We had breakfast at the hotel everyday and enjoyed a happy hour and dinner at Aqua.

Parking is a short walk away and extremely convenient and breakfast a buffet style feast that catered for every taste.

The restaurant has an excellent choice of food and wine.

The positives…
-the restaurant is amazing, and so too was the breakfast
-we got a hot tub room… which was really fun.

The bed is comfortable, and we could not hear a thing from our room when the door and window were closed.

Only critism would be that you can hear other rooms water running and chains flushing so walls must be bit thin.

Other reports have noted that the rooms are noisy,

Unfortunately our room was opposite the maids storage cupboard which meant early in the morning as they started there was a lot of noise outside our room.

Two points to note - late night users of the hot tub can disturb you in room 204 if they are noisy and the restaurant - Aqua- isn't open on Mondays except for half board customers.

If we stayed again (which we hope to), we would book a room at the back as the noise from the restaurant guests outside was a little disturbing.

Professional and friendly service, great restaurant (absolutely recommend half-board for short stays) and nice cozy SPA area for private use.

Perfect location, cosy rooms, outstanding view over the lake, private jacuzzi on the terrace, excellent service, overwhelming breakfast buffet, and, to top it all, a star-like cuisine, garage service and a bicycle-room.

I would highly recommend the resort which had good ferry services and water sports facilities and was within walking distance of other interesting places.

The service is excellent and the reception team are very helpful in giving local advise.

Perfect and full of couple of various ages and a really well presented hotel very close to the ferry service and bus stops and shops.

The hotel offers great lake views, good and friendly service, recently refurbished facilities, great breakfast and reasonable prices.

Also included within our package was an evening meal in the award winning Aqua restaurant the food and service within this restaurant defy belief !!

Beware that when you book "Lake view with terrace", you may get a room that has a small terrace (one chair) and no view unless you are standing.

While the view was great, the room itself is rather small and the furniture and bathroom are old and outworn (e.g.

It did finally happen on day 6 of our holiday.We were offered a tiny room, on another floor, where I would have walked into the table every night.

In the spa on the balcony you have a nice view over the lake.

We enjoyed the sunsets and sun rises in our Lake Dreams Suite- totally worth every penny, the rooms and the views are spectacular.

Our room was a cool, tranquil haven, the room views spectacular and it’s location so handy for everything.

We had one of the rooms with a terrace & whirlpool & we got a lot of use out of this, it was worth the extra the views across the lake are spectacular & uninterrupted.

The view is spectacular and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

The location and view is perfect, the sunset on the lake from the hotel is beautiful!

Every website (even BBC) was blocked, I couldn't even access Instagram.

The hotel staff were extremely friendly, professional and mostly spoke a good standard of English - this was initially a worry considering how bad the English was on the hotel's website and how appalling our Italian is.

There was one issue, which we feel was compounded by their website.

If you’re able to plan ahead I would suggest going onto their website, where they explain the different types of packages they have, from basic standard rooms to the whole kit and caboodle.

They said that the charges are listed on the website and booking.com.

.hugely misled by their website and therefore disappointed.

Unfortunately the room we got did not reflect the picture displayed on the website; it had a view of a wall and the bathroom window was not at all frosted with only a flimsy net curtain meaning that, when the light was on, you would be seen in all your glory on the toilet or in the shower.

Instead of the colorful stylish chairs presented on the website, we had cheap black plastic chairs.

As I believe others have said the website is a little mis-leading, the terrace you see pictured is only accessible via certain rooms and not for all hotel guests.

While the rooms are modern and comfortable, the main areas are definitely outdated and give a kind of sad atmosphere to the place, so is the fitness room.

There is a sauna in another section of the swimming area and a hotter sauna for the more daring,

It’s a very decorative hotel with plenty of seating areas.

The hotel is in a wonderful position, the pool area excellent, the hotel really is a gem, traditional Italian, friendly service, superb food and a real taste of Italy.

We were luckily designated one of the recently refurbished rooms at the back of the hotel, which overlooked the outdoor pool area.

The bar area was nice and also plenty of seating in the main reception area.

Reception staff were helpful, as was Thomas ( porter)
Loved the terrace area to relax and read and enjoy a coffee.

The room was spacious and comfortable with a substantial balcony overlooking the pool area.

The WiFi signal was fine, improving as you near the main lobby area.

We have recently returned from grand hotel liberty, amazing old building which I love, lots of character, perfect location, lovely pool area outside.. staff helpful, nice breakfast.

The hotel is right in the centre of Riva del Garda so it is very central to the lake and all the shopping areas.

What IS a lovely feature of this hotel is the spa/wellness area.

The main areas of the hotel are very elegantly styled and its location only a 5 minute walk from the lake and the town centre shops and restaurants is ideal.

The bar area is pleasant and was usually quite busy.

All in all a fantastic hotel especially when  you take into account the price in relations to other hotels in the area.

The spa facilities was in the highest class we saw in the 7 nights we stayed in the area.

Despite the hotel being virtually immaculate we had to strip our bed in order for the sheets to be changed mid-stay, we also didn’t have any of the little toiletries replaced so had to approach reception to ask.

If you book through an agent (we went through Travel Department) you have to pay a one off fee of £15 per person for your towels and robe.

The reason for the relatively low room temperature were probably the completely dilapidated, leaking windows.

One very small niggle was the lack of a shower ..we had a bath only.

No magnifying mirror in bathroom (very handy for me for contact lens/make-up).

Just one small shampoo and shower gel and no more!

also on the corridor was a public toilet - so there was a certain level of noise from the bar and the public toilet each evening.

The outdoor pool was not warm enough to swim in and use of the indoor pool was conditional on paying 15 Euros for the hire of a towelling robe and towel with an extra charge of 3 Euros if fresh towels were required on subsequent visits.

Bathroom have mold on the celling and arroud the toilet.

That said, there are lots of amenities in Riva itself including biking, playgrounds, the park, the lake (of course) so there should be lots to do in the locality to keep kids entertained.

In Italy it costs €1.50 to spend a penny, in a public loo, only open during business hours, sometimes not during.

but to add insult to injury no bath and the walls are simply filthy .

No replacement when you use the little shampoo, just shampoo/conditioner/hand soap so take a shower cap etc.

Annoying that you have to pay for robes and towels for the spa.

Having stayed at the hotel previously we had a far nicer room without paying extra.. No showere screen so very difficult not to flood the bathroom.

but there was always hot water for our showers.

although dinner service was a bit chaotic at times it was entertaining

but the bathrooms all need shelves as there is absolutely no place to put toiletries etc.

The bathroom could have done with some modernising as it was a little tired, bearing in mind the hotel has a four star rating.

We were disappointed with our rooms as they were dated and in good need of a refurbishment, especially the bathroom and threadbare carpet,

The breakfast was plentiful with great choices and could be enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the pool.

Breakfast and evening meal were superb with welcoming staff.

The food was delicious (we stayed on a half-board basis).

Breakfast was amazing, lots of choice including Omelettes made to order, fresh fruit, pastry’s and continental breakfast.

I also loved the breakfasts as they had a great omelette chef and a lovely terrace if the weather is warm enough (for Irish people it usually is!).

Breakfast was amazing and the little sparrows trying to eat crumbs provided entertainment.

Breakfast is self service,but has everything you would want,chef on hand to cook your eggs,omelettes, or crepes.

The breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice and high quality.

The carpet in the room is in urgent need of renewal.

Thread bare carpet, upright old wood chairs and a narrow metal bed frame with a board and rubber mattress completed the look!

The carpets especially look quite worn in places.

Carpets were ripped in  some of rooms Bathroom would need to be replaced.

The carpet on the hallway is ripped, torn and patched as is evidenced in the photograps I have.

Carpets are shabby & bedrooms need up grading too.

The furniture was awful - a dark wood sliding wardrobe which must be from the 1970s which was probably the era the red carpet was laid.

They are small, dark and overlook a car park.The corridor carpet leading to these rooms should be replaced as it is threadbare, I spent as little time as possible in the room as it was so depressing.

The bedrooms are old fashioned and in need of repair for example, no toilet roll holder on the wall (just screws where it used to be), the wardrobe doors have seen better days, carpets in corridors and stairs needs replacing.

Most of the furnishings and carpets in the hallways and our room look tired and some probably need replacing

The carpets in the corridor needed replacing and somewhere along it there was a hole under the carpet.

but maybe a bit of money needs to be spent on the corridors to upgrade the threadbare carpets.

The corridor outside had frayed carpet and extemely dark wood.

Carpet and Paintwork needed urgent refurbishment.

It was quite small & old fashioned -dark wooden furniture, dark red carpet, floral bedspread.

On the ground floor this hotel is very nice and modern and is up to the 4 star rating, on going to the first floor the carpet in the corridor is old and worn threadbare in places.

It was dark with a mangy carpet and the bathroom was full of cracked tiles and hair from the previous occupant.

Dinner in the restaurant was great value with excellent service.

They catered for my gluten free diet (coeliac) and made sure my food was not cross contaminated.

Food is amazing and the staff were very attentive and friendly especially Shalju,Antonio and Maurizio.

I stayed in this exceptional hotel with a party from Buckleys, Doncaster.The hotel built in 1910 has maintained a lot of its original features.The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were very good.Very quiet considering it wa near two main roads into town centre.The food was of high quality catering for dinner and there was plenty of choices.for breakfast.The staff looked after us very well nothing was too much trouble and they dressed immaculate in suits,white shirts and dickie bow ties.

Hotel is a short distance from the old tow n centre,plenty of bars restaurants, and shops,as well as harbour for boat trips on the lake.

This includes a salad, starter, main and dessert.

I must mention the new staff in the restaurant who looked like they were being trained.

and (b) for tour packages  why do guests have to choose what they want for dinner at breakfast time?

This hotel has great facilities , friendly staff and nice food.

We were in the Grand Hotel Liberty, Riva del Garda in April with the Travel Department.

We went with the travel department and will definitely return.

Hello Everybody 
                           I am bit late with this anyway, I visited Lake Garda last November 2018 with the Travel Department(more later about Travel Dept) first of all I fell in love with Lake Garda , the Lake , the mountains, the people of Riva Del Garda were breathtaking.

Arrived as part of Travel Dept tour and wasn’t expecting such a quality hotel!

Just returned from Grand Liberty after a week organised by the Travel Department.

If you are travelling with the travel department, the optional tour they offer into the Dolomites is really beautiful and well worthwhile , our guide Martin was wonderful and great crack .

I stayed at this hotel as part of a Travel Department group.

My Partner and I have just returned from a trip to Lake Garda with the Travel Department.

April, weather gorgeous, first trip with Travel Department.

We stayed here as part of Travel Department package holiday from Oct 3rd - Oct 10th.

Clunky noisy A/C units, rock hard mattresses, shoebox tiny room, paper thin walls, dispersed building, tons of staircases, cramped car park aso aso Bring your walking shoes if your given one of the many remote rooms.

Otherwise the AC was quite noisy and disturbed sleeping.

The week we were there June 19th there was a heatwave and and  with no air conditioning in the main lounge or even electric fans there was no alternative

but the sink had hairline cracks, the shower cubicle doors were 'rickety' and the radiator had chipped paintwork.

No air con, very crowded and very uncomfortable.

but the air con in the restaurant couldn’t cope and the bedroom, although refurbished still had old air con which struggled at night.

The hotel seemed to have an issue turning the air conditioning on.

The air conditioning in the room did not seem to be working as cold as we liked it

The air con is not working and the staff are finding all sorts of excuses from it's too warm outside

Air con in room good.En suite Shower difficult to control - temperature alternates between scalding and freezing.

We could hear everything our neighbours did including flushing their loo and blowing their nose!

The radiator in the en suite had a sharp piece of metal sticking out which made it even harder to find somewhere to stand without getting injured.

The pool area, although quite small, was never too busy - we would rather be out and about so didn't use it much - pool is freezing

Although the weather was hot, 30 degrees plus, the air conditioning kept the room cool and wasn't too noisy.

Lighting and storage in the bathroom were both poor and the extract fan did not work as it was turned off during periods when the air conditioning was running.

Air conditioning was supposed to be on from 1 June

I am not usually a hotel buffet dinner fan
