The flaws became obvious the moment I walked into the lobby to check in. The first words out of the clerk's mouth were "license and payment card."

If you are traveling with several devices, it will be difficult to charge them at night as the rooms lack sufficient USB ports.

I arrived to find the lady at the registration desk wanted to charge me $50 more than my confirmed wedding reservation rate.

Not only is she super confused, she decides she needs to charge me, again, for the previous four nights saying she she doesn’t have my charge slip.

but some part of the transaction was not completed which would usually be my error.

As often happens with promotions, the desk clerk was not familiar with the right way to enter the gift cards, so the reward added 10 minutes or so to check in.

Staff booked wrong night, charged my account and at my arrival refused to honor my real reservation.

Then she just stared at me until I said checking in, and then demanded my last name and credit card without even telling me the total.

I was charged twice for my reservation after confirming 2 rooms a few weeks previously.

Then when checking out, you put your card in a box.

I put my 2 card keys with the note and left.

That is something I can’t handle after having our cards used previously by someone when we were on a trip.

READ ON FOR FRAUD, THEFT and OVERCHARGES.

They charged me a day that I would have canceled.

Arrived late at this hotel, gave front desk credit card to change payment method.

As of this review, no extra charge noticed yet.

Also,  the incompetent lady (Asian) who worked at the front desk charged us for one night and I corrected her and said we made reservation for two nights, so she had to charge us a second time.

I tried to fight it with the hotel and credit card company.

even though I'm British and don't have an AAA or AARP card!

The staff are friendly and helpful and the location is close to shopping and dining.

Conveniently located, friendly front desk, comfortable beds, and a newer property are among the benefits of this hotel.

Ty who checked us in was friendly, dressed professionally, was courteous, great customer service skills.

Due to unusual circumstances, I had no phone on me,

Once I got a human on the phone, comprehending pre and post was like explaining Newtonian physics to a caveman.

After confirming that the guest in the 2nd room would have no issue checking in, I get a call at midnight from her saying she can't check in and they didn't have her room.

Also, there was a group of four young men in the very small lobby, working on their phones.

Then the TV wasn’t working I had to call twice to have it fixed, they sent a repairman now me and him are both on a hot room with no mask it was just a recipe for failure.The final nail in the coffin was the shower water got  cold after only a few minutes.

Our only issue if you could call it that was that the person at the check in desk one one of the nights clearly did not have English as her first language and her verbal communication skills were rather limited.

My husband left several items behind including bathroom essentials, a prescription & phone charger.

If I was treated like this on the phone, I wasn't about to find out how I would be treated in person.

The owner knew about it and had said to call the manager.

But room had couple of burnt out light bulbs and the in room telephone appeared to be inoperable.

Rather than fullfill my request for a refund, she proceeded to verbally abuse me to the point where I was forced to call the Tehachapi Police department to calm her down.

She then joined him to eat, leaving the front desk empty. Amazing.

Overall I am very pleased with my stay, if simply for the fact that where others have tread BW has listened and responded, and that is how good companies become great.

The owners of this hotel are more focused on cutting expenses than providing good customer service.

Check in was delayed because front desk clerk runs two hotels.

The manager/owner was especially helpful and responsive when we had a question or needed something.

I later heard the owner also owns 3 other hotels right along the same area.

The night before at a best western, the staff was serving pre-covid hot food in the breakfast area.

The person at the front desk at check-in seemed like she was preoccupied.

The lady at the check in was almost rude in her helping me to check in.

The clerk we interacted with the next morning DID have her mask on properly.

The air conditioning kept shutting off all night long, and I kept waking up and turning it back on because the room was so warm.

but needed cleaning as bare feet became dirty. Both room beds comfortable, adequate area space, amenities (TV, AC, WIFI, frig, etc.)

The noise all night was from the heater cycling on & off many times.

Tile floors with holes and bumps protruding--refinished tub that was peeling/cracking--extremely loud exhaust fan in bathroom that needs repairing.

A hotel with no carpet, extremely noisy/old AC/heat units, weak wi-fi, cold, bland minimal "free" breakfast; highway noise, overworked/disinterested staff, a hotel that has never had an update to the 21st century-that's what you get here--the bed was so uncomfortable, my back is still recovering (I would have slept on the floor,

The aircon/heater is the wall unit type (common for this category of hotel); the big disadvantage is that temperature control is never the greatest and the units are a big noisy.

When I reached my room it was stifling hot as the air conditioning was switched off

Did not hear train noise over air conditioner which was a plus!

The main heaters on each floor weren't on.

We run the a/c fan on constant run anyway for white noise as well as air circulation, so there is sound all the time from that.

but there was visible dust on the air conditioner and headboard.

but they still can't offset the condition of this tired, worn out facility. While clean the carpets are worn, the A/C makes enough noise to convince you it really is working, and the water damage in the bathroom was unhealthy looking (mold?)

but once the drapes were closed with the AC running we never heard a thing.

There was a leak onto our bathroom floor around the toilet.

The a.c. units filter didn't seem to have ever been cleaned.

We discovered that the heater was not working and talked to the manager.

Rude front desk ,loud air conditioner, crappy sunny side breakfast.

Room was not the cleanest, bathroom could have used a bit more attention.

The shower rumbled so loudly neighbors were pounding on our walls so we didn't get to shower.

But for the money I paid, I can’t tell you how disappointing the breakfast amenity was.

Would have been a 5 star rating if our rate was adjusted for the pool not being available (no mention of this unavailable amenity on their website or in person).

There was dried dog feces on the floor the toilet was dirty all the base boards were gray ( painted white ) the worst thing was when my husband felt something g crawling I.

the showeres water leaked down inside the shower wall and almost nothing came from the ehad itself.

The floors and walls were filthy despite the clean tub and toilet.

Front door need to be kicked to open, bathroom door not closing unless you fight it hard and won’t latch anyway.

Room smelled of smoke, hair all over the bathroom, water fixture in shower came off while in use.

but the bathroom bathtub looked like something out of a very cheap and rundown hotel.

but the facilities in the bathroom need some attention.

but our bathroom could use some updating.

She insisted the only person that could decide if I warranted a refund was Manager, Abigail Murray.

No follow-up from management as promised.

At check-in, the manager invented a requirement to you had to call after booking and reserve a special dog room.

but management did not call me back on the situation?

I called back and tried to explain it to the manager and she told me that nothing could be done and hung up the phone on me.

We will never stay at the La Quinta Inn in Tehachapi  The manager, Kim, yelled at us and was the worst manager we have ever dealt with.

The manager of the hotel refused to talk to them & would not refund our monies for the entire week.

We also observed the manager hounding the employees in the breakfast room.

Someone was smoking on our floor and I reported it to the management as this is a 100% NO SMOKING MOTEL. .

The general manager is a total jerk  Do not stay at this place  This guy should be fired or at least demoted to parking lot cleaner  The place is a mess.

Went to front desk and asked about manager the desk clerk said she had talked to the manager and they would give us 5 min to get out of the room if we didn't like it.

The pool was filthy- there are better places to stay in the area, this hotel is not really much more than a motel.

but even the hallways and walls were filthy.

Once we arrived, we found the front desk employee with a huge basket of dirty and smelly linen right in front of the main entrance.

The cereal was stale, and the waffle machine was out of order.

There was no internet even before electricity went out Place grounds were nasty.

They front area was in need of vacuuming and there was a strong perfume scent that I can't help was masking the need for cleaning.

If you have any underlying medical risk factors for aerosol poisons or their surface residue, BEWARE!

The floor was filthy, and our socks became black.

Rooms reeked of cigarette smoke and weed.

DirecTV only works on 2 channels, no poop bags in the receptacle, so dog poop everywhere, no Do Not Disturb sign for the door, no ice bucket in an overly deodorized room.

I couldn't tell if the bathtub had staining near the drain, or if it just didn't get cleaned very well.

I was charged with a $250 smoking fee in the room which never occurred.

Fortunately, I brought disinfectant wipes, and I was able to clean the room myself.. the front desk gal was overworked.

I was very appreciative this hotel excepted dogs

But I found out that this is actually a franchised business run by an independent owner using the Wyndham brand.

I stayed here last Dec 2021 and on my way to assist with a fire as a volunteer with the Red Cross.

When I arrived they front staff was VERY casually dressed and required my information on paper as they didn't have computer access to reservations.

The one positive thing was Jared at the front desk he really tried his best to make things right and eventually got us in a room that was at least sleepwble.

Ask for a supervisor and told none was available at 1:23 in the afternoon.

Staff did not have offer many helpful suggestions.

Once again the young lady who checked me in was not at all friendly.

Staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful for all out needs.

People at the front desk are friendly and polite, our room was clean, tidy, bed super comfortable for us.

While this hotel was nice, very clean, friendly staff, fine breatkast, I can only give 3 stars because of  the complete lack of phone service.

So much so that I have woken up in the middle of the night smelling bleach, with my eyes watering and itching and my skin in flames.

The room smelled fresh and we were able to open the windows to let in some fresh air.

While I recognize marijuana is legal in California.

Completely disgusting and total lack of service.

The room we had was to have been no smoking.

Our room had an odd smell (like mildew mixed with deodorant and BO. ).

Excessive, noxious chemicals in the pool/spa made them unusable

The hotel is well maintained, the staff is nice and the rooms are well appointed.

Next to that is the name of the management company, Evergreen Management,  which I am sending this to as well as Expedia, TripAdvisor and will be posting it on the Facebook groups of Marriott Bonvoy and Marriott Titanium and Ambassador groups.

They offered a hot breakfast that was served by the breakfast attendant.

The comfortable beds and indoor spa and pool made the stay so enjoyable after a long day of helping family move to the area.

Today, the front desk agent laughed at me that I wanted a clean room.

The staff was great and there is plenty of parking spaces.

Check in was a breeze and the girl was very courteous and professional.

I have always enjoyed the staff at this location, and comfortable beds.

All the hotels in Tehachapi are owned by this same individual owner and all appear to use the same toxic chemicals.

They are always clean and so accommodating to their guests.

The associate at reception told us it was a nine-year-old hotel that just had a complete renovation.

Rumbling of a train can be heard in the middle of the night

A train or two may have gone by while I was dozing off

The big freight trains do go buy about half a mile away so if you are a light sleeper you may want to opt for the backside of the hotel.

This did result in being able to hear the trains,

Comfortable room, only negative - the train you can hear right outside (to be kind of expected since it is a train town and directly across from tracks).

Our only complaint is that noisy trains went by most of the night.

Also, the train track is right across the street and trains woke me up at 4 AM and 6 AM, so take ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.

No noise except for the wail of an occasional freight train in the distance.

Some may not like the sounds of the train passing  in the distance

The rooms facing the train tracks get a little noise, so request a rear-facing room if that's an issue.

Tehachapi is a very small town- we enjoyed seeing the wind farm up on the hill and also the train loop.

You did hear trains tooting through-out the night,

Yes you can hear trains and traffic from the road

Although some reviewers have been bothered by the train noise, it was never an issue for us, in fact only once or twice did we even notice the train going through.

I was worried about the trains and asked for a quieter room and I only woke up once when the train blew the horn at midnight.

Also trains are very frequent during the night on this busy route into the Central Valley and they do blow their horns 6 times at each crossing as they pass through the town.

I could hear fainted sound of the train around 5 am this time also.
