At 7:15 in the morning we went for the breakfast that supposedly started at 7:00.

Going to southern California, we always stay at this Best Western - it's a very attractive place with comfortable beds and good breakfast.

The breakfast was also great, it had a diverse selection of breakfast foods, even a machine that made pancakes on the fly.

The breakfast room was well laid out and spacious.

Breakfast well we left early to find a cafe.

Would recommend they improve the breakfast setup and how this area is ready in the morning.

Because the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good … and particularly because the maid exceptional, I would give this place another chance.

I stay at this property every time I work in Tehachapi because it is clean, bed is very comfortable, and the breakfast a good.

There weren’t a ton of breakfast choices,

Of the four breakfast experiences on my trip, they fell short here.

Due to Covid-19 the breakfast was a grab and go.

They still provided a grab and go breakfast, despite COVID, which was well done and nice to have.

Breakfast at the moment is a sausage egg and cheese biscuit, orange, granola bar and a water bottle.

Would have been nice to have a choice of juice drinks (we already had plenty of water) and maybe a yogurt.

Continental breakfast was sad compared to your old breakfasts.

The morning breakfast was good, a great way to stoke up for another long day on the road.

Also we sure did like the morning Breakfast area ~ good coffee & food!! !

Bed was comfortable, television with weather info was a must.

Conveniently located, friendly front desk, comfortable beds, and a newer property are among the benefits of this hotel.

The AC was nice and cold, the room was very clean, they gave me fresh towels and sheets, a comfy king bed, and nice restroom.

however we could barely hear it and we both slept well in their comfortable bed.

The bed was more comfortable than my sleep number bed at home.

Long drive on a chilly day brought us to warm, lovely hotel with large,quiet rooms and comfortable beds.

The rooms are pleasant and the beds are comfortable.

The beds are very comfy and showers have awesome pressure!

The room was a nice size, comfy beds and very clean.

The flaws became obvious the moment I walked into the lobby to check in. The first words out of the clerk's mouth were "license and payment card."

If you are traveling with several devices, it will be difficult to charge them at night as the rooms lack sufficient USB ports.

I arrived to find the lady at the registration desk wanted to charge me $50 more than my confirmed wedding reservation rate.

Not only is she super confused, she decides she needs to charge me, again, for the previous four nights saying she she doesn’t have my charge slip.

but some part of the transaction was not completed which would usually be my error.

As often happens with promotions, the desk clerk was not familiar with the right way to enter the gift cards, so the reward added 10 minutes or so to check in.

Staff booked wrong night, charged my account and at my arrival refused to honor my real reservation.

Then she just stared at me until I said checking in, and then demanded my last name and credit card without even telling me the total.

I was charged twice for my reservation after confirming 2 rooms a few weeks previously.

Then when checking out, you put your card in a box.

I put my 2 card keys with the note and left.

That is something I can’t handle after having our cards used previously by someone when we were on a trip.

READ ON FOR FRAUD, THEFT and OVERCHARGES.

They charged me a day that I would have canceled.

Arrived late at this hotel, gave front desk credit card to change payment method.

As of this review, no extra charge noticed yet.

Also,  the incompetent lady (Asian) who worked at the front desk charged us for one night and I corrected her and said we made reservation for two nights, so she had to charge us a second time.

I tried to fight it with the hotel and credit card company.

even though I'm British and don't have an AAA or AARP card!

The staff are friendly and helpful and the location is close to shopping and dining.

Ty who checked us in was friendly, dressed professionally, was courteous, great customer service skills.

The night staff "V" was especially friendly and helpful.

The staff was super friendly and helped us with anything we needed.

Front desk service (both morning and evening) was not as friendly as at other properties, or engaging.

Overall, the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

The staff is friendly , they bent over backwards to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed!

Due to unusual circumstances, I had no phone on me,

Once I got a human on the phone, comprehending pre and post was like explaining Newtonian physics to a caveman.

After confirming that the guest in the 2nd room would have no issue checking in, I get a call at midnight from her saying she can't check in and they didn't have her room.

Also, there was a group of four young men in the very small lobby, working on their phones.

Then the TV wasn’t working I had to call twice to have it fixed, they sent a repairman now me and him are both on a hot room with no mask it was just a recipe for failure.The final nail in the coffin was the shower water got  cold after only a few minutes.

Our only issue if you could call it that was that the person at the check in desk one one of the nights clearly did not have English as her first language and her verbal communication skills were rather limited.

My husband left several items behind including bathroom essentials, a prescription & phone charger.

If I was treated like this on the phone, I wasn't about to find out how I would be treated in person.

The owner knew about it and had said to call the manager.

But room had couple of burnt out light bulbs and the in room telephone appeared to be inoperable.

Rather than fullfill my request for a refund, she proceeded to verbally abuse me to the point where I was forced to call the Tehachapi Police department to calm her down.

The rooms are clean and in good condition.

Room was clean and everything worked well including the shower.

We were surprised at the cleanliness of the room we were in.

Laundry room was clean and they offer quarters which made my life easier when I ran out.

The room was clean and the cleaning staff was also very friendly.

Although the room was clean, it smelled a little “sweaty”, so  some fresh air would have been nice.

The rooms are always clean and in good working order.

Didn't make any difference whether it was Apple, Google or Waze they all took me to the wrong location.

The cheese omelette folded over on the biscuit made a great breakfast sandwich.

The rooms were clean, well appointed, the continental breakfast is decent - still covid protocols going on (cereal, eggs, milk, fruit, yogurt type-of-thing). Coffee was pretty darn awful (!)

The hotel was quiet and I thought their grab and go breakfast sandwhich was quite delicious.

Lots of options in the area for simple takeout dinner & breakfast.

Standard fare, steam pan scrambled eggs, velveeta cheese omelets, sausage, bacon, make your own waffles, bagels, fruit, oatmeal, coffee, juice, etc.

Beds were very comfortable and breakfast was super good.

Breakfast was good with the exception of the fruit, apples were all rotten and bit into a particularly nasty one.

Good breakfast and I highly recommend this place.

We had the complimentary breakfast and it was standard Marriott fare.

After relaxing in the hot tub, we got a really comfy nights rest, had some breakfast, and got back on the road.

It was a bargain for 3 adults and 2 kids which included a complimentary breakfast.

The breakfast was one of the better complimentary breakfasts we have ever had.

Had a billing issue and General Manager Joseph Andreas would not return calls after several attempt's to get ahold of him by phone and email.

Next to the front desk, is a manager plaque that happens to be empty as far as a name goes.

I talked to the manager and he said the hotel was pretty much a business hotel during the week and sorry

While I waited for manager another guest checked in and HIS preferences as an elite had also been ignored -

Front-desk said there was no Manager on site at that time and he did not know when he would be back.

Poor management customer service when we asked for the lowest rate and they refused.

When I did complain to the manager in the morning, he didn't even seem to care very much either, basically said "stuff happens".

This is how seriously the management takes their guests safety!

The hotel itself is nice, HOWEVER, the management is terrible!

Manager full of excuses, not solutions - unlike other Marriott's - not up to their standards.

As this was a time when we needed phone service for contact with my sick mother it was a source of extreme concern.

Rumbling of a train can be heard in the middle of the night

A train or two may have gone by while I was dozing off

The big freight trains do go buy about half a mile away so if you are a light sleeper you may want to opt for the backside of the hotel.

This did result in being able to hear the trains,

Comfortable room, only negative - the train you can hear right outside (to be kind of expected since it is a train town and directly across from tracks).

Our only complaint is that noisy trains went by most of the night.

Also, the train track is right across the street and trains woke me up at 4 AM and 6 AM, so take ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.

No noise except for the wail of an occasional freight train in the distance.

Some may not like the sounds of the train passing  in the distance

The rooms facing the train tracks get a little noise, so request a rear-facing room if that's an issue.

Tehachapi is a very small town- we enjoyed seeing the wind farm up on the hill and also the train loop.

You did hear trains tooting through-out the night,

Yes you can hear trains and traffic from the road

Although some reviewers have been bothered by the train noise, it was never an issue for us, in fact only once or twice did we even notice the train going through.

I was worried about the trains and asked for a quieter room and I only woke up once when the train blew the horn at midnight.

Also trains are very frequent during the night on this busy route into the Central Valley and they do blow their horns 6 times at each crossing as they pass through the town.

I could hear fainted sound of the train around 5 am this time also.

Our room was on the third floor at the back, so we were not bothered by train traffic.

ONLY DRAWBACK - TRAIN NOISE:
The street out front is parallel to a MAJOR railroad freight route.

Decent breakfast, the town is near so you can go there to have some dinner or lunch, I stopped here on my way from San Francisco to the Grand Canyon, couldn't be a better choice.

Great quiet place to rest for the night Excellent breakfast and nice accommodations my only complaint was that AT snd T dies not work up there and couldn’t make any phone calls until hostess helped me reach my family
I ate at the Indian restaurant beside the Baymont Hotel  and it was again delicious with great service

Hot eggs/omelets, bagels with cream cheese or cereals are available.

Staff recommended some places to eat at while we were in town, The breakfast area was clean and well stocked.

But it had everything that you could need for a morning breakfast.

We got up super early to drive the rest of the way so we missed out on our free breakfast

Breakfast, like most Holiday Inn Expresses, has alot of variety - something for everyone.

The Breakfast has a wide variety of things to eat and drink and the attendant is on the spot to keep thing flowing and meet your need.

OK breakfast buffet - surprised that there wasn't more local fresh fruit served - just the customary bananas and apples.

Had a nice continental breakfast and headed back out to Arizona.

but also saw the charge but could not tell me what the charge was for.

Trying to resolve this was not smooth either and the staff were able to reverse charges and handle the case smoothly.

Another "last straw" is that pet charge has increased to $60.

Billed for two reservations, never stayed there, showed up at 1pm on day of arrival and cancelled my reservation due to location of hotel was BILLED for the night anyway and when I called to get charges reversed they BILLED me for a second night.

Gas station and Denny's are located just over the street.

There is also a little gas station/mini mart close by to grab some snacks.

A Denny's is within walking distance for dinner.

Easy parking and short trip into town for dinner.

She’ll station and Denny’s across the street.

There is a Denny's right next door and a gas station.

however, there is a Dennys and a Subway across the street.

There is also great places to eat dotted all around town.

Breakfast was provided and the food was good.

Gas station and Denny's located across the street from hotel.

The front desk recommended a little Mexican restaurant on Green street that was fabulous.

Clean, safe, next to a gas station and a Denny's.

We decided to stop and stay here in Tehachapi on our way home from a week long honeymoon road trip.

Really convenient on/off the freeway and on the less traveled side of Tehachapi.

The Tehachapi Holiday Inn Express has earned a repeat customer!

This is a very nice Hotel in the Tehachapi Mounts.

The Holiday Inn Express in Tehachapi, Ca was nice surprise.

A real old mining town needs a visit when you're anywhere near Tehachapi.
