Monzi Safari Tented Camp is a nice hostel located in the centre of St Lucia.

This is a  very well maintained and managed peaceful haven in the centre of St Lucia, KZN.

a very nice experience, sleping in a nice, big tent in a city.It is situatied right in the centre near all the facilities you need.

This is one of the best backpackers i have ever been to and is right in the centre of the town.

The best place to stay, its the 4th time we go there and its fantastic, good location, right by the center of St Lucia, waking distance from shops, restaurants, beautiful views of the estuary, lovely boat trips.

The location is perfect: right in the middle of the center with lots of restaurants, shops and activities to do.

The "low noise" rule is handled well by security, so that guests are not interrupted by loud noise in the evenings.

but we couldn't enjoy playing games because we were constantly reminded of the noise even though it was way early, not even close to 22:00!

the next day we went after ear pluggs in order to avoid the same situation and everything went fine until a group of people  arrived and checked in at around 22:30 with big suitcases they made a hell of noise going up the stairs bonking with the suitcase all over the place talking loud, laughing loud and walking like elephants not concidering other people where already sleeping at that time 

so concider this before booking this accommodation, if you are fine with this then 'happy days'

But There was no loud noise after 10pm which is excellent.

There were some loud drunks partying after a world cup match and they did nothing to quiet them down even after 1am.

The reception need to warn all quests on check in, that tents are not sound proof, we to keep our voices low, even the noise around the dining arears quests to be advised to accomodate other quests, most importantly cooler bags around the pool arears , some bring kids and kids always looking forward to swimming party makers to be advised of sharing of the pool, seeing its not private space,

St Lucia is the perfect holiday destination, and the ease of urban glamping having everything available and set up perfectly for the stay is a must

Great swimming pool and generally a fun relaxed atmosphere.

Nice pool, beautiful kitchen and braai area.

Love the trees around the tents and all the tents are close to the pool area.

The staff was very sweet and welcoming;  great service, pool, kitchen.

The only concerning part was that during our stay off duty staff were free to bring in their friends to enjoy the pool area.

I went there in December 2019 and the place is beautiful, the pool area is to die for.

AND - I was initially concerned about noise,

but it was too noisy people some guest were fighting each other disturbing all us we did report nothing was done

The beds were so uncomfortable and hard,the Towels were very old and not soft

There really isn't much privacy as you can hear your neighbours quite clearly.

however was the noise coming from the building next door, which was a water pump that kicked in every minute for 20 or 30 seconds at a time and was very noisy!!

We were woken around 11.30 with youngsters arriving home to their tents which are not sound proof at all.

Rooms should have their own bathrooms

Beside uncontrollable noise the place is not bad.

The venue has a no noise or minimal noise policy,

Though we were told noise is not allowed after 22:00

So now if you want Tv you have to go to the common lounge which was noisy.

The rule of no noise after 10pm was not enforced at all, with people still making noise around the pool area long after 11pm and noise starting again from 7am.

was the parking you go out and when you come back your parking is taken I so wish if you can reserve the parking for each guest, also the Wi-Fi is very bad on and off, the no noise policy after 22H00 is not followed also splashing and diving and eating in the pool no one supervision that,the bar fridge is too small for a self-catering   purposes as we stayed for a week it was not easy for us,

The only thing is that is was pretty noisy, we could literally hear the conversations from our tent neighbours and some people got up at 04:00 for a game drive, and woke me in the process.

But noisy due to closeness of the tents and no one encouraging the quiet policy once a couple of over-inbibers kicked off.

If staying inside the rooms the wooden floor can be a little noisy.

As it is advertised as a quiet place and has a "no noise" policy we were a bit surprised about the noise in the evenings.

We did report this to management the next morning and the people concerned were asked to refrain from making excessive noise after 10pm.

Comfortable stay,the tents were amazingly comfortable,
the only negative is the cleaning staff noisy conversations during the day around the guest/pool area 
on the Saturday while trying to relax and read around the pool.

Would definitely recommend the croc and hippo tour and a drive to cape vidal.

The location was in walking distance from the shops, restaurants and even the boat jetty for boat tours.

It was a great tour and our guide (sadley I forgot his name) was very kind and knew a lot!

A great location if you want to go for a hippo/crocs tour.

We have joined for a fish braai initiated by Monzi on the first day and booked a boat tour and safari to Hluhluwe Park which were both well guided and amazing trips to participate in!

There were 2 young ladies there, one behind the reception counter and another behind the tour booking desk.

The complimentary extras (breakfast and guided hikes) was a really nice touch! Recommended!

You also can book a nice safari tours done by Monzi itself, or other tours.

We also took a Safari Walk guided by a gentleman from there.

We were searching at least one Glamping stay during our South Africa tour.

Great location close to restaurants and grocery store, tour guides, nature and the must go to Cape Vidal - you have not been to St Lucia without the trip to Cape Vidal.

We did a hippo and croc tour, this is very nice, saw lots of animale, we did also a night game drive, also very nice and seen a lot of different animals.

Monzi Safari is not only a place to stay, at the same breath it is also a tour operator,  offering great safaris.

Easy booking for safaris and tours, guests are really well welcomed and taken care of.

The breakfast is delicious and if possible you must try the “Traditional Dinner”.

Breakfast was ok and people really nice - we were aloud to check in early and was upgraded to a bigger room.

Charles, the chef even packed us a take away breakfast on the day of our departure!

Had amazing breakfast, and Lourens went out of his way to make us feel at home.

The breakfast was amazing and included everything you want   We will definitely be back.

I will certainly return again.the breakfast was done with care and attention to detail and the staff went out of their way to make our trip memorable.

The rooms were spacious and well appointed and breakfast on the terrace was a treat.

The breakfast is great with eggs cooked to order.

We still remember an amazing dinner that we had there, it was delicious.

In addition, the breakfast gives you everything you need and you have a gorgeous view on the pool.

The included breakfast was excellent and the pool was great for the kids to cool off during the hot weather.

This is a great B&B, located very near the ilSimangaliso Wetland Parks and an easy drive to the Hluhluwe- Imfolozi Game Reserve. Breakfast is excellent and the rooms comfortable and clean.Also within walking distance (lookout for the Hippos!)

The breakfast are delicious and picked for every taste.

Visiting monjeys at breakfast and we were lucky to have hippo grazing at night on the meadow opposite.

The only "negative" responses from some of our members (and therefore a 4 instead of 5) are 1) The shower areas are somewhat dark - they could use more light, 2) Some of the rooms felt a little "damp" (to be expected, given the "rain forest" decor of this place), and 3) some of our guests claimed that the water had a "yellow" hue to it.

however seems quite dark due to all the green.

Only drawback was that the toilet was slightly dark,

rooms dark and dreary - linen worn and not giving one the impressioon of freshness - impossible to see into one's suitcase lighting so dim - shower ok - reasonable water pressure - outside foliage way too overgrown and making motel style rooms very dark inside - wooden ramps for walking through this foliage to rooms wet and slippery.

Bathroom a bit dark and the basin tap kept falling off.

Some of the bathrooms have just one light, and nothing in the shower, so it's quite dark in there.

Unfortunately the lighting was pretty dark in the room and very dark in the bathroom.

We were in room 8 on ground level which was a little dark.

but unfortunately due to the layout of the lodge, the room was very dark and all lights have to be switched on to move around safely.

but we found that due to the use of dark woods for furniture ,ceilings and doors and the limited lighting in our bedroom that it was somewhat gloomy for our taste.

The family run lodge feels like a Balinese paradise with it's dark wood and running stream.

the only danger in the dark of the night are the hippo's walking through the streets of St. Lucia at night.

Tropical gardens, a cascading stream and a well stocked Koi pond certainly relaxed us after a long journey.

The pictures online do not do the lovely gardens justice and the location is more central than I had realised.

The owners created their personal jungle garden , and it is worth to stay.

Set amongst magnificent tropical gardens, with streams and ponds running by, it really is a little slice of heaven.

Lovely accommodation in a beautiful garden - We loved relaxing at the pool; It's such a peaceful setting.

All the rooms are accessed by wooden walkways, which follow a little stream through the gardens.

Although in the middle of St. Lucia, this lodge is built into a what appears to be a jungle or lush garden.

The gardens are lovely and lush, and you don't even realise that you are in the middle of town.

Excellent restaurants a short walk away.. Elphia and Lourens are perfect hosts.

Lourens, Zoe and Elphia are gracious hosts and apart from their honesty bar, we also enjoyed a takeaway dinner in our rooms.

The evening meals were plentiful and delicious.

It was easy to walk from the lodge into town for lunch or dinner.

We decided one night to have the catered dinner cooked by our host (we were travelling with a group)  and I think it was the best dinner we had in south africa.

St. Lucia and the surrounding parks are a Get Away From It All destination and the Umlilo Lodge was an equal haven.The tours that the Lodge arranged for us were top notch.Be sure to arrange to eat there one or more nights.

The quality meets the price and is really a great place to stay in St. Lucia, very central to the restaurants, hippo tours and the main streets with all the shops.

The lodge is a few steps off of the main commercial street of St. Lucia with a nice assortment of restaurants and coffee shops.

First of all, the location was perfect - very close to the shops and restaurants

It's very close to restaurants and shopping centre, and a couple of minutes drive to the beach.

You can walk into town for food, pharmacy, and a very good Zulu craft market.

It is very central to all the restaurants, supermarket,bank and sunset jetty.

The location is good, right next to the few restaurants in St Lucia.

Everything is possible even if you want dinner,

We were welcomed very warm and got explanation of the room and the neighborhood.
