The balcony in the afternoon with a cold drink was bliss looking out over the lake.

We spent an average of €200 per day for hotel drinks and external meals.

The drinks were very expensive compared to the local restaurants with bottled water €5 for 0.75 litre,

I’m staying here at the moment 
Food is very very average 
Service even worse 
Ordered a omelette for breakfast took 30 minutes to arrive after asking times  last night in bar took about 20 minutes to get a drink the couple sitting next to us walked out after 30 minutes of waiting

Restaurant meals and hotel drinks are a not cheap if not included in package..

Italy generally is not cheap and Gardone is no different with meals, drinks and travel all adding up - so be prepared -

You are also not allowed any of your owns drinks on the terrace including water .

Only draw back is the price of the drinks.

Only drawback is that the poolside drinks and snack bar very expensive.

The only criticism is that the drinks are extortionately and unnecessarily overpriced.

Our only complaint was that we had to pour our own wine and water constantly throughout the meal, the staff seemed to just walk past our table ignoring our empty glasses and ignoring the fact that we were pouring our drinks, It might seem a trivial complaint,

Very expensive drinks (wine and aperols), suggest visiting the local Spar 10 mins walk towards Salo and stocking up.

My main issue was with the cost of the drinks at the bar.

They wanted to open this in their room for drinks before dinner,

Of course in a hotel of this standing the price of drinks at dinner and in the bar will always be fairly expensive

The hotel drinks were expensive which was a shame as we liked to sit in Winnie’s Bar occasionally.

but, as the price of the drinks was quite high, we did not sit there.

however seems standard almost everywhere else and the drinks here are extortionate.

However, as mentioned in other reviews prices of drinks were ridiculously high, and to charge €5 for a soft boiled or poached egg when the chef is stood making omelettes is incomprehensible!

Hotel not very disabled friendly (dispite many old/disabled guests) and the price of drinks was a little high.

The food was great plenty choice for breakfast and dinner, it is an enjoyable experience and never rushed, dress code for dinner is long trousers for men   ladies smart casual same as most hotels, as many people have said drinks are expensive compared to outside the hotel, around 30 euros for a bottle of wine and 5 euros for bottle of water

Lots of people have complained about the prices of the drink- yes it's expensive.

Drink prices as many have said were extortionate so we like most other didn't drink there in the evenings.

It has a fantastic location, staff are very friendly and please visit Mirko at the pool bar.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the most friendly and helpful reception team who were happy to assist us when we arrived in our hire car and not sure where to park.

The housekeeping team made sure we had everything we needed with an extra visit each evening to check if we needed more towels or toiletries

The best place on the western coast of Lake Garda to spend relaxing days directly at the water (perfect for swimming), with beautyful view, a very nice breakfast-buffet, newly furnished rooms and very friendly staff.

But fortunately there's a little shop about 100m from the hotel that sells beer and wine at regular (uk equivalent) prices.

For the prices  charged, we were disappointed.

I would not go half board as they obviously have a cost control/ chef issue at present.

To make it worse, of an evening leaving the hotel for a walk you then passed many local restaurants with what looked like amazing dishes at a third of the price we had paid to eat half board.

A very poor culinary experience at a high price for half board.

Cooked breakfast is not kept warm and service isn’t what I expect in a 4 star hotel which is the most expensive in the area.

As far as eating in the hotel - that was a tad expensive as was drinking with a beer costing 9 Euros (Ouch).

Poolside food for the price needs improvement eg club sandwich chicken perhaps!

but it was very unacceptable & after that felt like the staff thought we were a nuisance but only wanted the room I had paid for, I definitely won’t be returning to this hotel even the hotel & food is very nice, will return to lake Garda but different hotel, avoid room number 269, nice room but you’re woken up before 5am from the noisy road 🤦🏻‍♀️

The restaurant was like the rest of the hotel, drab and uninspiring, 
with no staff.

The charm of the place and staff will I suspect be lost , it was never perfect

The Hotel has closed and is up for sale the staff contracts have been terminated .

Staff were all helpful and kept the hotel looking great.

It remains a grand old lady full of charm sitting right on the edge of Gardone on the lake.

Would advise that anyone staying does so on B&B basis as there are lovely restaurants nearby serving genuine Italian food.we
We are going to go to an Italian restaurant in England to get an Italian meal as we didn't experience it at the hotel.

Reception is very attentive and resolves any issues quickly.

Every member of staff was polite, cheerful and could not do enough for you.

The pool bar staff were great with a special mention to Alessandro.

Maybe there is a chef or staffing crisis in the kitchen.

Fabulous hotel right on waters edge, we had a junior suite which was lovely and spacious with 2 balconies over looking the lake, with everything you could want only strange thing was the electric sockets were like a European socket only with 3 pins (see photos)so my 2 pin adapter wouldn’t fit I managed to get last adapter from reception.

Two people I would like to mention are Barbara the manager who’s very helpful involvement saved a problem from becoming a disaster and Giuseppe our taxi driver ( separate from the hotel ) who was absolutely first class.

As a hotel, staying bed and breakfast, I would recommend as the location and staff are brilliant

Beautiful Hotel- modern & very clean  , Great Location, Breathtaking Views , friendly , helpful staff that couldn’t do enough ( The lovely lady at the bar makes the nicest coffee ) it was the  most peaceful vacation I’ve ever had .

All the staff and I mean all were so friendly and helpful through out our stay.

Firstly I would like to mention the staff:
Brenda and Elisa (oh how I miss your Americana's) who predominantly worked in the bar, thank you for serving our drinks and being friendly, we really appreciated it.

The hotel was spotless, staff very friendly, food excellent, beds comfy , lovely pool area  and staff always had a smile.

All the staff were friendly and polite taking great pride in their job.

Friendly staff, comfortable room, delicious and varied food at breakfast and dinner - we stayed 2 weeks and don’t think the menu was repeated.

The hotel is kept incredibly clean and all of the staff, whatever their role, were friendly and willing to help with whatever we needed.

Our particular room was a little on the  small size however it had most things needed apart from a iron

but was refused so I was moved to the same room 320 which again was so small and uncomfortable.

The rooms are on the small side for a 4* hotel

but on the basis that we would have to move rooms the next day and would have to wait around the next day in order to move rooms (there was no offer of them to do this for us) – the staff were also very quick to inform us that these rooms were very small and not of the same standard.

but just a word about "views" and balconies: our balcony was very small with just enough room for a small table and two chairs.

The only disappointment was that our side view lake room was very small and had no air con.

The only thing I would say was our room was on the small side

I think as regular travelers north and south of the equator we have never had of such a small room.

The room was tiny, we attended the dinner gala which was in very poor taste, and there was horrible karaoke in the background.

On arrival - reception are friendly and whilst there is a wait its fairly straight forward - the delays are due to the hotel up-selling you a room with a view - pointless for us- so we took our allocated room on the 2nd floor

Evening dinner choices are poor, not Italian dishes as expected

A lot of the guests were talking amongst themselves commenting on the poor food choices- apparently it’s gone downhill the last few months.

Food - Do not be put off by poor reviews, the food is very good!!

The bar food selection is very poor as is the quality.

However the main meals for us were very poor.

There were two nights that had music entertainment, which was a guitar player outside on the lawn below the hotel entrance and in front of some seating there - strange as there is loads of room in the two level bar inside where people could get drinks and be comfortable, rather than sweating and getting eaten by bugs outside - not sure how you got drinks unless you went back into the hotel to the bar area or if they serve you outside - either way seems crazy and when we walked back from town the poor guy was trying to entertain about 6 people who had braved the heat and bugs!

Tiny rooms, poor plumbing, facilities not working, bland/basic food, dated and dirty decor.

We discounted due to the poor balcony we had which did not see the sun and the pool was not heated.

I think they appreciated our very poor efforts at Italian!

The only downsides that we had, was the flaky Wi-Fi, poor connections and regular drop-outs.

The WIFI service did not work most of the time, and was very poor when it did.

The food in the dining room is really poor and there is a very limited choice for main course.

The rooms are a little on the small side,

Rooms very small, air conditioning is set at 22 degrees and far to hot at night.

Only criticism was my room was a bit dark as it had a balcony at an angle and room a bit small.

Amazing family holiday, please bear in mind this hotel has an official rating of 3 stars, in my opinion it far exceeds this, rooms are on the small side

What makes this hotel a ‘5’ is the staff.

We were recommended La Perla by family, and found it to be one of the friendliest hotels we have ever stayed in.

The swimming pool was 1.18 secs walk from reception which we did not feel was an issue.

I honestly cannot fault the hotel and staff.

The hotel it’s self is fine and value for the money the location and staff are excellent 

What let’s this done is the evening food.

Special shout out to our waiter- Maura who was superb- so efficient, polite and excellent at his job!

but some people did look lost on their first day, so maybe a bit of direction from the staff would be good.

The rooms are great and so are the staff memebers are great as well, the pool was really really nice, and you are a 1 minute walk from the bus station and 8 mins from the city as well as the lake, honestly a very nice place.

The waiting staff where particularly good as so efficient and friendly - you wouldn't have to wait long to catch their attention
The food was outstanding and was like going out for posh meal every night which was a nice surprise and couldn't fault it - the desserts where unbelievably delicious and irresistible - best ever had!

All the staff were so friendly, kind and helpful, especially with our daughter, and made our stay feel even more special.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived to be greeted by Natalie on reception and I also especially mention Sara the restaurant hostess and Daniel the restaurant manager.

The resort was beautiful and every single member of staff were so welcoming, friendly and hospitable.

Without exception every member of staff we came across was courteous and friendly, particularly the bar, pool bar and restaurant staff.

We had a fabulous time here, spotless clean hotel , lovely pools the indoor pool and saunas were amazing,            Loved the buffet breakfast and always something on the menu for evening meal I liked ,being coeliac was not a problem I was brought a selection of gluten free items to the table plus there was plenty more to choose from, staff were smart friendly and helpful, had a lovely quiet room overlooking the garden it was perfect ……………………….

Summary :

Had it not been for the very poor evening meals I would have scored this place a 5.

however the aircon is very noisy and of a poor quality which is disappointing for a hotel of this size.

So as an independent coming back around 2pm there is nothing to eat and no restaurant at all on a night with a menu- poor for this size of hotel.

The only comment I would make is communication is a little poor for example breakfast is a full buffet

The negatives were a small television, and the Wi-Fi was poor.

Also the pillows were of poor quality, so my wife started using the cushions to pad them out
The biggest issue was the shower which would not stabilize at a set temperature, so would scold one minute then freeze you the next

Overall the hotel was good,

I see from my previous report that whilst praising the range of breakfast the cooked option was rather poor - nothing has changed here.

What your staff should be informed of is of the magnitude of this poor experience!
