She was a blessing to us with her helpful spirit, friendly smile, wealth of knowledge of the city as we were from out of town, and her love for people.

Check in was good by a friendly staff member supposedly got an upgraded room consisting of a view of a marina in the street below.

I would like to send a super shout out to Ms. Kayle Brown, front desk associate at the Westin Sarasota, she was absolutely a doll, super friendly and just a pleasure all around, she did her best trying to accommodate my request for a higher floor room, unfortunately her manager wasn't very accommodating at all

She was very friendly and asked what occasion we were celebrating.

In the end, we actually ended up really enjoying the service, and the young men retrieving cars were friendly and courteous.

Front desk reception was exceptionally good, with special thanks to Kayle and Chris who were both extremely friendly, accommodating and efficient.

It’s a fabulous hotel, with great amenities and a professional and friendly staff.

We had to download the Zybra app for both of our phones to get the bikes, then we needed a lesson on how to unlock the bike from the rack.

I lost my ring while I was there and Carlos Irimia, the head of security, found it and went above and beyond to make sure it got back to me.

For the room rate it just does not feel like a resort this place is landlocked I'm not sure why they call it a resort.

Numerous calls to room service express and front desk to try to get food earlier went unanswered.

Very small locker rooms, massage therapist used one hand while texting on her phone with the other!

Carlos personally drove them to the UPS store and properly dropped them off. He then contacted us and encouraged us to call the store to confirm their receipt (he understood how important these earrings were to us.)

I was really upset and my husband suggeted that I call the Westin in Sarasota.

Once in the room we realized we were without a phone charger.

After several calls to the hotel I was finally followed up with by Carlos in Security.

but the decision to put the phone on the coffee table baffled me.

I had to call to ask questions several times before our arrival and Julianna helped each time with professionalism and efficiency.

Dirty balcony, we complained, they agreed to refund me $50 on the room rate, and hour later the ‘mamanger’ rang back and told me she was going to refund me $30 not $50.

We waited an hour to get our room and there were dirty drinking glasses along with the phone.

but hassle and delay my check in because they insisted that my husband needed to be there or call in for verification.

Also, front desk Mrs. Chris was cordial and attentive over the phone.

Called; they said “be there in 10 minutes”…40 minutes later and 4 phone calls later learned driver went to a different Publix (remember…they “don’t go to Publix”).

I had to call in the afternoon to tell them we got missed(no extra robe for mom,no clean towels,sheets,no replacement coffee. .

We had a large stain on our sheets in one of our rooms and it took 3 calls (basically all day)  to get the linens changed.

Including those answering the phone at the front desk, maid service, valet attendants and those at check-in.

but upon arriving we had the top priced room which is not what I expected.

It seemed a bit steep, and I would rather it be rolled into the room rate.

I would not recommend the breakfast - way over priced for a little food.

but I will no longer be recommending this place sadly, way over priced and in a mess.

I normally avoid hotels that charge for parking

There's no self Park you pay $40 for a valet parking each night.

The $40 valet parking charge is quite steep.

The mandatory valet is a bit pricey at $40 a day and it’s a bit frustrating to be handed a valet ticket with the old price ($25) whited out and $40 hand written.

For the price of this resort, I was expecting better customer service.

but frankly no view which we had paid for ..

Note- The drinks are extremely expensive on the rooftop, double what we would pay anywhere else.

This caused me to have to book the hotel at a higher rate than when I originally made the reservation, as well as unnecessary stress.

Only thing is they don’t have self parking so you do have to pay for parking every night through valet

but the furniture is outdated and extremely abused, for the price of the night no quality of the hotel it should be replaced.

The valet issue cost me a lot of time and left a bad taste in my mouth and the rooms definitely need a refresh.

The Assistant GM, Maria Valeria, was absolutely fantabulous.

Valeria at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating during this stay.

SO grateful to the staff, especially Valeria, Maria and Ileana who took care to make sure we had everything we needed and assisted all of our guests down to the details!

but Maria at the front desk worked with me and a traveling buddy to accommodate our needs with another room at a more reasonable price.

But what made it great - Chris from front desk.

Ileana Neumann was a great representative of The Westin Sarasota.

Facilities, staff, location and comfort all top shelf.

Marcia at the front desk greeted us and called me by name our entire stay, she made us feel welcomed to say the least.

At check-in, I was greeted warmly, and helpfully.

We would like to give a big shout out to Anthony the security guard there.

Every employee of the hotel that we met were very professional and made us feel right at home.

Maria at the front desk was so nice to us.

Marcia and Matt have been so wonderful and accommodating at the front desk when we check in, they go above and beyond making us feel welcome while we are away from home.

Kayle Brown , the Westin Hotel Front Desk associate, was so kind and thoughtful in the way she handled my check-in that my 4-day stay got off to a fantastic start.

The beds are amazing here, amenities are wonderful, so close to all different restaurants when you want to venture out, the staff is the shining star here at this property tho, I've been coming here each quarter for the past year and Maria and her co-workers are absolutely the best!

Finally, the entire time we were there, there was construction going on, which sounded like an alarm going off all the time.

Think construction bulldozers and beeping all day long AND all night long.

The restaurant was closed down and the Pool was noisy due to construction .

Many of the advertised amenities are not available and construction noise was everywhere - yet the hotel still feels justified in charging a premium rate despite all of this.

There was some noise from the construction.

There is still construction by the pool and it can be heard throughout the day.

First the lobby and front desk area are under construction.

but i would wait until later in the year or whenever construction has been completed.

- Resort restaurant and reception still under construction and with the lack of labour on site when we were there (Feb 2020) will not be completed for another 6-12 months.

Can’t way for the construction to be done and the wind to stop.

Because they are under construction they have port a potties near the pool.

While they say the construction will be completed in March, we think July or so is more likely.

Until our last day, the construction was  a non-issue.

We exited our room to avoid bulldozers and other construction vehicles.

but the construction is totally out of their control.

The main resort lobby was also under construction, which meant that there wasn't really any place to just sit and relax with a newspaper, or with a beverage.

It was inconvenient stepping over construction material and having to wait for the one elevator while it was being used by construction staff.

Will be even better once construction is finished.

When all construction is finished it will probably get a 6th star!

Captive audience and no credit cards so tough to treat my Husband for his Birthday unless we went off property.

but given what they charge to stay there, there need to be more staff, particularly to set up chairs and umbrellas.

though their website, and then a glitch happened and it double charged me.

but
        the available papers in lobby were at charge, not complimentary.

Parking under the building was included at no additional charge.

They charge $25.00 for the umbrella use and I thought why we pay for the resort fee???

My only cautions for UK travellers would be mindful of the £48 per night guest charges , it adds on the the holiday.

The front desk clerk who told me I'd be charged for a hair dryer when I called to say my room didn't have one - not even subtly implying I must have stolen the one that was there.

I called to cancel my hotel late and the manager said I could have a credit for the next six months, called 2 weeks later to make a reservation using the credit and they said no sorry you only had 3 days to use your credit.

I do think its silly and unnecessary that they charge an umbrella fee

We were charged a Daily $24 Resort Fee; and $25/day for the use of an umbrella (chase loungers are free).

but wait-  that only incudes beach chairs-  so everything is fine if you can lay in the sun for hours-  should you need a couple of umbrellas -  ah - those are $25 dollars each. Talking to certain folks in charge - the owners do it because they can-  the place was 98% full-    too- there was no reduction in rate despite the fact that the room was cleaned only once during  our stay " because of Covid"

I asked for credit because 3 or our 5 days we could not use an umbrella.

There are also never enough chairs at the beach or the pool and to add insult to injury, once you do snag some chairs they charge $25  for an umbrella.

- breakfast in the golf club is severely restricted if you are vegetarian
- charging for umbrellas on the beach is unacceptable given the price of the rooms

The owners have to decide- is this a golf club with a resort attached or is this a luxury resort in its own right.

I said I am staying at the hotel and they said there is a charge.At more than $600 a day they are charging for an umbrella?

but then they charge an additional $20.00 for an umbrella on the beach.

From the long welcoming drive into The Resort, the friendly and delightful faces of the bellhops, to the warm and inviting faces of the folks working registration, and ALL the Amazing staff!

All the staff are extra friendly and helpful including the drivers of the free shuttles available to get you around the estate.

The hotel staff and location are both excellent, everyone was friendly and welcoming.

That friendly welcome continued throughout our stay.

The staff were all professional and friendly and very helpful.

Starr at the pool was especially friendly and went out of her way to be helpful!

Staff are always friendly and provide great customer service.

but there is an obvious difference here because every single employee that we had interactions with were welcoming, friendly, helpful, and just seemed happy to be there!

Everyone was as friendly as ever and this has never changed in all the years we have visited.

They make the pool deck and beach the most friendly and comfortable space.

Can a front desk manager ruin a 5 day stay at a beautiful resort with an otherwise friendly, always accommodating and professional staff?

Gated, gorgeous beach setting, turquoise water, better than average suites with washers/dryers, kitchens, glass showers, blue decor accents tropical landscaping, friendly staff, and more.

Friendly and totally wanting to make this stay perfect.

A shout out to Sully the pool attendant, who is always so proactive, friendly, and helpful.

He was so friendly, warm, and such a joy to interact with.

The tennis courts are just beautiful and the staff at the tennis club are so friendly and professional.

but the free Wi-Fi wasn’t great (you can pay for a faster one) and you do have to make sure you get a room that suits your needs.

Umbrella, chairs, service charge for food, bikes, kayaks, etc.

but for the price they really offer nothing extra.

But Longboat Key club is considerably more expensive and not great.

I do have one complaint.. and that is that we had to pay for a spot on the beach!

At $700-$1,400 a night plus $40/nt resort “fee,” these minuses don’t add up to 5-star.

but you seem to have to pay for an umbrella, and they were a bit pushy on that.

You have to pay for the chairs and the umbrellas in addition to your room!

1) They know they can get away with outrageous prices (+ resort fee of course) and so they do
2) Over the years, they've eroded the value they provide. .

Prices are as expected at such a resort and a 20% service charge is added.

If you cancel within 14 days of your trip, you must pay for ALL nights of your booked stay (not just one night’s deposit, like many hotels/ resorts).

I spoke to two representatives and they could do nothing about the discrepancy, we had already paid for the room.

Even the nightly price on a specific night on their calendar is not accurate.

If you complain about the cost of the food, I challenge you to find better and more for less, we ate breakfast at Latitudes and I had to get a "to go" container as it was a lot of food.

You also have to pay for beach chairs in addition to your room rate.

There’s absolutely not one thing to complain about if you’re here, great atmosphere, accommodations, staff, and so much to enjoy.

The staff were all wonderful across the board.

I had a massage at the spa and Sally was a gem at the spa front desk.

Wonderful accommodations, exemplary staff, good food, gorgeous beach and breathtaking sunsets.

ALL of the resort staff were always eager to help and extremely pleasant!

First class amenities and staff, beautiful well-maintained golf courses, and a country club with a world class beach.

Upon arriving at The Resort, we were greeted with the warmest welcome from all the staff.

Dean at The Bell Stand was wonderful and very informative and helpful on places to go and rides.

The most wonderful attitude and cheery personality.

Great service by the Boucher Brothers, especially Sam - he helped set up our Day Beds at the Beach Club both days we were there and the service was exemplary: friendly, timely, and diligent.

At the beach club, we also met Taylor and Jane who engaged in a warm and friendly manner, and made sure that a personal touch was waiting for us on our last night back at the hotel.

The hotel culture seems to be on charging and indeed overcharging as much as possible instead of concentrating on delivering warm friendly and honest customer service.

Curtis, the bell man was super friendly and helpful.

Friendly and accommodating can only  begin to describe his dedication to making it special for the RC guests.

We stayed for my wife's birthday and liked the friendly check in and the quiet, marina facing room with a very comfortable bed

It is still good to see some friendly familiar faces at the Valet station

The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming.

The only positive are the employees who are friendly and work hard.

Everyone I’ve met has been so friendly, I’m making memories for life!

He is very friendly, remembered what we ordered and had suggestions to make our stay even more enjoyable.

Rooms are nice and staff are friendly like always.

This theme seemed to run through the stay, from A LOT of back and forth to accept a food delivery, to the $25 that they wanted to have a fridge or microwave in the suite (EACH), to the $65+ day resort fee and 40+ valet fee.

On checkout , without any notice during booking or during our stay we were charged 55 dollars resort fee per day which we were informed was for towels and wifi. Ridiculous!

but at an additional price of $350 a day.

Paid 160.00 each for breakfast and the Bloody Mary was extra!

We were not handed the Fine Hotels and Resorts benefits sheet, not at check in or at any time during out stay, so we missed out on additional benefits we could have used, such as a $25 resort credit, complimentary breakfast, we went over our limits because we didn't know the total cost per day.

The room needed updating- the bed board and frame were clearly damaged and scratched - I’ve seen far better rooms in much cheaper hotels….the sheets or bed, I couldn’t tell, smelled like male sweat, a locker room and the sheets were on their last legs.

The service has gone down hill at the beach club while the price has increased (even more).

Super annoying and frustrating situation for a hotel that cost us $1700+ per night.

There is substantial construction adjacent to this side of the marina facing rooms (which are priced higher).

but I would say it was very expensive for a room only deal.

but the food was of a very ordinary standard – I would far prefer to pay more for better quality.

There was nothing exceptional for the Ritz prices!

But no they still fully charge you the resort fee.

It is very expensive to add this service to your stay and at this particular Ritz it is absolutely not worth the extra money!!

"Daily" valet parking fee is unreasonable when your vehicle is not moved for 3 days.

I do think for this specific ritz it is overpriced for what it is

but they were not discreet, shouting at the man quite loudly.

A lack of management involvement was evident with not one manager visible throughout our stay even when we reported a drone on our balcony first thing in the morning and can be seen in the standard generic responses to specific and reasonable customer feedback.

During the daytime to the east there was extremely loud noise from the adjacent construction of a new Ritz Residence tower, and very loud exhaust noise from three huge exhaust fans over the ballroom area 24/7.

It’s literally shaking the walls and the hotel staff sees no issue with it.

but all of the nearby building construction noise is somewhat of a distraction.
