The breakfast is amazing… Good for one night, or two.

Beds are ok. Breakfast is Chinese tourist class and best to go down after 8 am.

They will charge you for it. Breakfast is included and will be in the restaurant next door: Chinese breakfast (but also toasts and cooked eggs available)

The breakfast consists of tasteless Chinese food, the AC doesn’t work properly and the staff aren’t polite.

Breakfast spread is good, considering this is quite a remote part of Tibet.

I would give this three stars, except this was the one place we stayed in Tibet (13 day tour) which had excellent mattresses! !

After getting fresh, rush to the second floor dinning area for buffet dinner.

though the bathroom was very dated), restaurant on top floor we managed to order food via GoogleTranslate (as we don't speak Mandarin), breakfast was OK, in a big room like a banquet hall.

The last hotel I stayed in had toilet-showers, and it was still more comfortable than this one.

I've been to Shigatse a few times and this was the first time I felt very comfortable in my hotel as if there was always someone available and willing to help if needed.

Comfortable bed ( we slept well) and colorful, cozy rooms with little seating area for two.

The moment we checked into Gesar Hotel, I find the interiors.

but each room is actually furnished with stuff that makes you feel as though you're back in some history textbook.

This hotel is built in traditional Tibetan Style,and is truly great to feel the spirit of the country and its culture during your stay.

So says the friendly manager and, after traveling to western Tibet and back, would definitely have to agree.

I would strongly recommend that you find a friendly yak in the hills and stay the night with it as you will be more comfortable than you would at this place.

We stayed at this property on the way to and back from EBC and was pleasantly surprised by the clean and comfortable rooms provided by the hotel.

Strange smell in bathroom which was unpleasant.

I'm only bugbear is the smokers everywhere in the hotel, and they obviously don't care about indoor smoking.

It was warm in January, hot water was available 24 hrs and I got a non-smoking room that didn't have any bad smells.

So the stench of smoke while you sleep was uncomfortable.

Only negative is hallways -- ripped up dirty rugs, very smelly.

In the first room the shower drain emptied up out of the drain into the bathroom; in the second, the shower sides emptied into the bathroom so in both cases the bathroom was wet.

Smoking is allowed in the hallway so the corridors smell of smoke .

Many smell of cigarettes since smoking is allowed in a Tibetan rooms.

I did not like the green rubber bath mates on the bathroom floor which smell bad.

While showering halfway, the water suddenly turned scalding hot which made it pretty much impossible to bathe without getting first degree burns.

only downside is it is far from town - you need your driver

be careful if you sleep opposite the air conditioning and blowing hot air, it dried up my nose and i had problem breathing in the middle of the night.

but it smelt awful so I didn't stay, friends said the chips were good but the rest wasn't great.

Without a goose neck, sewer smells will come up.

The public spaces isn't filled with cigarette smoke.

At the reception during check-in, ONLY Chinese speaking staff.

The staff didn’t even try to wash the mango stains out before asking us to pay.

even though it seemed not a lot of travelers were staying those particular nights and there was staff on site frying eggs.

We did not find the staff to be super helpful when we did need assistance.

We got our guide to translate for us and the reception staff just shrugged.

Service staff were ok due to language problem,

Below are a few points worth mentioning:

mostly Chinese/ Tibet focused breakfast -

The staff understands mostly chinese so it is difficult to communicate.

The design, reception, and the rooms are authentically Tibetan design.

Passang the hotel staff also got his points with all of  his professional arrangement.

The staff here are excellent and go out of their way to provide good customer service.

There is not much in this town, except for a place to stop and rest.

Not many restaurants nearby hence you might need to go to the town area or walk down to the right from the entrance about 700m and look for food.

Is a little out of town so can be more difficult to get around.

Do note that the hotel is not located in the town centre.

If you would like to explore Shigatse by foot, the hotel is not located near the town's attractions
