Due to failed air-con (room fan provided) it was necessary to keep the window open which resulted in a lot of noise from veicles in car part as well as delivery/utility lorries.

It was terrible no A/C we had a family room it was roasting all night the sheets and the pillows were dripping there was a fan it made more noise than a old cortina with no air it was awful how they have the cheek to call it premier inn it’s amazing it would have been more comfortable sleeping in the car.

Although the temperature out side was no where near as hot as it has been recently.. it felt like someone had left the heating on in the room during our entire stay.

We stayed in August and it was almost unbearable, there is no ventilation in the rooms and only one fan provided which does not cool anything down just moves the warm air around, we were lucky to have a thunderstorm while we were there which cooled everything.

Th rooms wee unbearably hot and you could not get air into or out of the room need's proper opening windows or aircon.

however the room was easily over 40 degrees due to lack of air con.

The building was from the 80's with no air ducting for a centralised air con supply.

Simply NO - no initial conversation and what are we supposed to do on arrival when told no aircon?

but the main chain hotels on the island all advertised air con…but not this one.

The fan was useless, the lift stunk of stale fags and bo., full of dirty finger prints everywhere made you feel really grubby.

Very hot and stuffy as no air conditioning.

The lack of air conditioning at this Premier Inn made our stay intolerable.

Nothing was done apart from the hotel supplying another fan.

The problem with this hotel is that there is no aircon!

How wrong I was, no air con and limited opening windows (understandably).

The hotel doesn’t have air con so the window needs to be open.

The room designers don't believe in ventilation for the rooms.

This particular Premier Inn is in a great location for Newport town being only 10 minutes walk and has a good free car park for guests.

The Premier Inn Newport, and the associated Beefeater, has a pleasant and quiet location (except during the Isle of Wight festival!!)

It is in a nice central location, 5 min walk into Newport along the quay allowing for easy access into the town.

Within easy walking distance of Newport Town Centre for any shopping &/or places to eat.

Lovely location too by the harbour which is a nice walk to bars, restaurants and shops.

This hotel is located just off central Newport so gives great access to anywhere on the island.

Super location on the banks if the Medina and a ten minute walk into Newport which is a bit of an unknown Georgian/early Victoria architectural gem.

One of the nicer Premier inn’s that I’ve used on my travels for work, as it is in a good location on the outskirts of Newport, on the banks of the river.

The premier in Hotel was exactly what I booked always do a recce beforehand that way your not disappointed

This hotel is ideally located on Newport Quay and has a Beefeater next door for breakfast and any other meals you may want.

hotel was in a good location close to Newport town centre with plenty of green space around and car parking spaces.

Very close to Newport central and lovely overall.

Luckily there is a great Chinese restaurant in Newport and we had a large satisfying meal for a lot less than the prices in the hotel restaurant with helpful service.

Back in June, I stayed in the Premier Inn, Isle of Wight Newport.

In our view, one of the best most convenient places to stay is at the Premier Inn, Newport.

Really nice Premier on the river, 5 minute walk along the harbour into town.

A nice walk into Newport town which is not far at all.

I really like Premier Inn and what it does and the hotel in Newport is no exception.

The location is good with easy access to Newport both for eating and starting cycle routes in multiple directions including the run up to Cowes to start the round the Island route.

Everybody slept on top of the duvets due to the unbearable heat, which meant being bitten by insect’s throughout the night.

Staff very helpful and we’re offering sheets instead of the duvet.

If you enjoy sleeping in a 25 degree sauna with a thick duvet

I asked for extra pillows and some new towels and the reception team were happy to help.

Both check-in and check-out arrangements have been smooth while we are satisfied that the rooms are clean with comfortable beds and it is convenient to find a lot of restaurants and cafes in the town centre nearby.

The hotel itself is great, comfy bed, clean rooms and a great shower.. BUT.

The room was good and clean and the main bed comfortable

Very easy to book and customer service was brilliant as usual :)

Reception team are always great and helpful and the room and bed was lovely and had a very good nights sleep.

but had everything needed a decent bathroom and comfortable bed with tea and coffee facilities and hairdryer .

Bed was comfortable, everywhere was clean and we weren’t disturbed at night.

but we could request clean towels and linen which would be left outside the door.

The mattress was amazingly comfortable which added to the experience.

Beds were so comfortable, clean rooms staff were amazing so friendly and helpful definatley recommend,

Clean rooms, a comfortable bed, a nice hot bath and a decent view, too.

Loving the USB points by the bed and the new style hairdryers next to the mirror.

My room 201 had plenty of space, USB ports by either side of the bed and a data point by the writing desk.

The beds and linen are always top quality and the rooms are adequately appointed and very clean.

Another must is Queen Victoria's holiday home, Osborne House.

The reception staff were polite, friendly and efficient, the new method of registering your vehicle was quick and simple to use, and the rooms were spotless.

Fast checkin and a large very quiet clean room on the second floor.

Our room was clean and overlooked the River Medina, so we could watch the seabirds and the passing pleasure yachts.

The hotel and room were spotlessly clean - which is obviously important.

It's a 10-15 min walk to the High Street.

My map app accessed from the premier inn app sent me the other side of the river so enjoyed a long walk back round!

Nice walk along the river, close to town and hospital if you needed it.

First impressions of the hotel ,its in a great location just a short walk into town past the medina,it looks fresh and modern on the inside and the staff were very friendly.

Location for us was perfect as we could walk into town for evening meals etc.

Nice hotel, close to festival site so could walk to/from Jack Up The Summer festival.

In my view, it is certainly NOT worth a visit unless you really have to, and with a selection of excellent pubs an easy 10 minute walk away, several of which are also open for breakfast, we certainly avoided the place.

Beautiful estuary river setting, glorious walks from the doorstep, comfortable rooms, lovely food in the Beefeater next door (thanks, Kelly!).

We found the location to be excellent, with plenty of green space around us, and only a short walk into town.

but Newport is only a short walk by the river / harbour where shops & eateries provide all our needs.

The hotel is a short walk from Newport and we would highly recommend the Bargeman's Rest pub (booking recommended), which only took about 10 minutes to reach.

Had to leave window open for all days of stay.

but the cups were dirty, there was alot of cobwebs outside the window, which had to be kept open due to the heat, cigarette buts just outside window.

For what we were told were safety reasons the window could only be opened a fraction.

I was told to shut the blind and window to keep the heat out.

We had a two night stay here and on both nights we were disturbed by people sitting and smoking and chatting/ shouting swearing outside the hotel under our window.

Some noisy cars racing along just below the window, strange as it looked like a side alley rather than a proper road.

They need some sort of reflectors on the windows, or to allow them to open more.

The windows don’t open due to health and safety concerns.

Once the curtains were closed the room had very little fresh air.

The windows would only partially open because of health and safety so there was no way of getting in decent ventilation and to feel safe with Covid.

The only complaint we had was that being an 'elderly' building without air conditioning the room temperature was oppressive and made sleeping unpredictable, even using the provided fan as the only window had restricted opening, presumably on "health and safety" grounds !

Room was a bit hot so open window for room cooling which means that if your room faces the front you do get car park noise and sound of people outside coming and going etc.

The window has restriced opening which does not allow it to be opened far enough to cool the room.

Unfortunately had to even close the window at some points because of the noise outside in the car park late at night and very early in the morning with people chatting and smoking beneath our windows.

In our room we could only open the window about 6 inches and we didn’t even have a fan!

There is no air conditioning and you cannot even open the windows as they have a security bar on them.

The shower was similarly tight, again with no shelf for anything.

No issues with water pressure and in fact the wifi was amazingly strong , maybe we were lucky.

though and the bathroom more so, so bare that in mind.

Rooms that date back to the 70 s bathrooms so small u can't turn in the shower  fans that whistle and screech   flush the toilet and get water knock 
Tvs that don't work and WiFi so slow feels like your on dial up 

A hotel manager that is rude and condescending, 
Plug sockets miles away from the area s u need them 

Entertainment is a disc jockey that is clueless and a key board pianist that is tone deaf 
A barman that is stone deaf and looks like a funeral under taker

Honestly you couldn't write it there's so much wrong with this hotel!!

Only downside I would say is the rooms could do with proper showers not showers operated via bath taps .

Spent and hr  in the pool, then back to my room for a bath which was ok until I slipped and did the full splits in the bath, another grab rail would be handy.

but we managed ok. Bathroom was Very small!

The bathroom I had in a double room was very small, water pressure in the shower was poor,

Sink had a double tap for hot and cold, shower pressure was so low it took ages to rinse out my hair, and the floor was linoleum - total mismatch to the pink wall tiles,

But it was a little rough round the edges with a few minor things needing sorting out, such as our bedroom door not closing properly, no bath mat, no lock on the bathroom door, etc etc,  leading to a few trips to reception and we could see we were testing Laura's patience.

The shower hung at an odd angle and the cold tap was awkward to turn off.

but needs updating, especially the bathrooms.

The shower and toilet had sand and mess on the floor.

but won't be returning,felt like we had walked into 1970, walls so thin didn't get much sleep, had to run around in the shower to find the water, breakfast wasnt good,reception staff friendly when we arrived,  not so much when we complained

Negatives first - very simple and dated bedroom decoration , fixtures, and bathroom, bedroom got very hot

Room was basic all white artex walls and ceiling, shower was no more than a dribble either cold or dangerously hot, walls paper thin could hear every word of the bedtime story being told to the child in the next room, bar drinks all out of date even the draught beer I sent back place needs total refurbish very dated like a 70s working mans club.

But instead he came into the room and went to the bathroom, intimidating my 13 year old and letting her without a reaction as she has never experienced something like this before in a hotel.

It is situated just a 5 minute walk from the beach and the high road.

The parking at the Wright was free and it was a short 5 minute walk to the beach.

Very peaceful and great location with 5 minutes walk to the beach.

There is plenty of free parking, two minute walk to the beach and high street and facilities in the hotel if you wish to stay in like a fab pool and bar.

The Wight is very well sited for the beach, local bus stops and a plentiful choice of restaurants etc.

plus we had a delightful room looking out onto the courtyard..  and all within 5 minutes of the town and beach!

There are may restaurants a short walk away and 5 minutes to the beach.

This a great place to stay - close to amenities, the beach, pubs, places to eat and bus routes.

Excellent location, few minutes walk to beach & shops and bus stop just rounf the corner.

but within walking distance to the beach and a raft of restaurants.

Free parking and 5 mins walk from beach and town centre.

The beach is only a short walk away anyway.

The Wight was in a great location, close to the beach and the High Street with a good sized car park and free parking.

Walking distance to the beach,super close to a newsagents for any midnight snacking!

Hotel is 5 minutes walk from the seafront and the High Street in Sandown.

We forgot about the beach and spent the day in there!

We chose this hotel as it was close to the town centre and the beach.

With only a short walk to the beach and shops it is in a great location and peacefully quiet.

The location alone usually means a premium.

Fantastic breakfast one of the best I've ever had great location friendly staff very helpful.

Add to that, a reasonably priced bar, a convenient location , a good size car park and a nice pool.

Met with a warm welcome,  my room was immaculate, equipped with everything I needed and importantly a comfortable bed.

The rooms are clean and the breakfast is the breakfast I've had on the island.

Clean rooms I recommend a larger double room.

Both rooms really clean with a good sized TV and tea and coffee making facilities.

Now positives - room clean and serviced daily, friendly and helpful staff, magnificent breakfast and the staff here are very well organised and efficient, nice bar area to sit and have a drink, nice pool.

It did not disappoint as the room was spotless, there was plenty of parking and the Hotel had made all necessary preparations with Covid safety in mind.

There was a lovely pub called the Caulkhead a few minutes walk away which we ate at most nights.

Other guests walked right past our open patio doors.

just a short 5 minute walk from the hotel and you can be on the famous Sandown Seafront which has a wide range of shops and entertainment for the kids and plenty of things to do for adults as well.

The hotel is in a good location for the beach and high street, both being about 5 minutes' walk.

We were really impressed with the location which meant we could walk to the beach and local restaurants.

There are lots of places to visit locally and if you are into walking there is a location called
"Devils Chimney" near The Landslip with loads of steps up a inland cliff.

the hotel location is perfect, 2 minutes walk from the beach and amenities, with so much to do and see close by, all in all the Wight is a good hotel at a great price.

The location was great for the beach just a 2 minute walk!

but switched itself on (Which explains why it was swithched off at the wall when I arrived (Plug behind bed).

In the smaller bedroom, one of the wall lights did not work.

The walls between rooms are so thin that I am sure they moved!

The toilet cylinder was not attached to the walls when you sat on the toilet you could feel it moving.

but it was poorer then expected) and a very stiff shower control which felt like it would pull off the wall any minute.

Also there is a red sticky substance all over the sauna walls.

Swimming pool - please put a notice on the wall that ball games are not allowed in the pool.

Perhaps the management should consider re-siting that particular wall mounted ash tray.

While some reviewers have stated that the décor is dated etc I would say that it is more practical than dated with aertex on walls making it very easy to upkeep and keep clean.

Looking at the photo's we really thought this hotel looked fantastic, well it did look this way 40 years ago, Now it needs a complete overhaul from the cistern that took 5 minutes to refill to the tired out of date sliding door wardrobe that was falling apart to the out of date 16" T V  hanging on the wall that refused to turn off unless you cut the power to it.

The room was noisy due to thin walls creaking floor boards above, we could here snoring, talking laughing and worst of all what sounded like a herd of elephants upstairs I complained at 11pm and the lady at reception dealt with it.

On the bathroom wall you are reminded that maybe you do not need your towels changed every day (which I agree!)

There was also a shop opposite with a hole in the wall.

One area that was previously mentioned was the thin walls.

Whilst reaching a 4 star AA rating you can stand in the en- suite with your hands on your head and your elbows will touch both walls.

Problems included the loss of hot water in some rooms and the wi-fi going down and I asked myself; "who'd be a hotel manager"?

Unfortunately, the toilet had a slight leak, so by the morning when the cleaning staff came in, there was a puddle of water around the pan.

except the bathroom which was really cramped and the shower was useless and the cold tap ran hot water.

There was hot water in the cold tap and when she complained the lady said leave it on for 20Mins to get cold water.

although I would share some of the comments regarding the showers and hot water and if these were upgraded there would be nothing to fault.

though the next night it suddenly went scalding hot.

but the water pressure in the area was poor.

Having a shower we found that at peak times the temperature of the water was not constant sometimes very hot .

Plant some lavender or marigolds - they can survive without a lot of water.

Hot water took a while to reach this end of the building so best to leave it run for a while.

The sauna started sparking and smoking whilst we were in it so we ran to reception (through the cold) in our swimsuits for the owner to be very grumpy about having to be called out and repeating that we must have put water on the heat (which we had not).

but I would have preferred a bath mat to stand on  there was plenty of hot water.

The curtain wasn't adequate (for me - I managed to get water all over the bathroom floor) and the flow and heat of the shower varied from a cold trickle to a hot torrent!.

A copious amount of hot, (perhaps too hot) water for baths/showers.

The bathroom area is tiny, and the water pressure is not that great,

- Shower didn’t have much power which appears to be an issue with a general lack of water supply in the Isle of Wight?
