From the moment we arrived, with gentle piano music playing in the reception area, we were greeted by friendly, helpful staff, which continued throughout our stay.

From signing in to departing, the staff were absolutely wonderful - warm, friendly, highly efficient and nothing was too much trouble.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly - especially Mervin, Kerry and Jade.

Fabulous hotel, with friendly, courteous staff, beautiful garden and terrace, lovely rooms with great views, delicious food and superbly located for wonderful walks and secluded little coves.

We went to the Royal for a family evening meal .

Breakfasts very good, excellent cooked menu, stag=ff happy to provide another pot of coffee and as much toast as needed.

We were given a complimentary Champagne cocktail to start and at the end complimentary petit fours on a plate with Happy Anniversary written on it in Chocolate, such a special and thoughtful touch!

Beautiful hotel in superb location, with top notch staff and food.

There was a lovely selection of finger sandwiches and 5 cakes each which were really light and tasty and not sickly at all.

The most delicious "full English" breakfast I have eaten in a hotel and great food for dinner.

Our classic double room was comfortable and spacious and the dining was out of this world.

Our room overlooked the well kept gardens with the sea in the distance.

Very thorough service throughout, room comfortable if a little dark (possibly reflecting past Victorian splendour), interesting old menus on the lift wall and a handbook of the hotel thrown in free which illustrates the hotel's interesting history.

My wife and I were looking forward to staying in The Royal Hotel and relaxing in a comfortable room.

The guy in at 1pm gave me a room out of service to stay the night and said I could pay £80 in the morning.

As it was one of the weekend of the great heat wave, our room was quite warm.

The rooms are adequate and clean, bed comfortable.

Our room had view over the garden to the sea.

the rooms are well specced with  close attendance to stocking toiletries and tea/coffee etc 
the pool and poolside area is very welcoming with plenty of towels and poolside refreshments available.

Our room was comfortable and a mini-fridge was quickly provided on request.

Our room was one of the newly refurbished rooms and was extremely comfortable.

Amenities in room good - hospitality tray refilled daily ( even biscuits and water), shower gel, body lotion, shampoo conditioner.

I had the same table each day for my meals, with a fine view across the beautiful dining room & its diners.

Nothing to fault, excellent food provided in an elegant dining room.

To be fair the duty manager who greeted us was very friendly and informative so is I feel the only real credit to the place is your front of house staff as all were completely on the ball.

There were two games rooms, a soft play toddler area, 3 swimming pools, a children's menu that actually sold child friendly food (nuggets/sausages/pasta/chips/pizza/fish fingers/veggie sticks/baked beans/fresh vegetables) and a play ground.

The waiting staff in the restaurant were so friendly and kind, Mike was especially welcoming as were all of the others.

There were positives, the restaurant staff were friendly and did their best to help.

The hotel staff just couldn't have been more helpful and were, without exception, pleasant and friendly.

Our room was nicely decorated with a lovely balcony overlooking gardens and the sea.

Lovely breakfasts with a conservatory area which gives a gorgeous view over a well kept garden and the sea.

The bar area had all new chairs and and sofas , a new bandstand for when musicians can play in the stunning gardens - this place seems to be striving year on year to go that extra mile and I can’t wait to see what next year brings.

The gardens were immaculate & very pretty.

The kids cabin style bunkeds kept them happy and the ability to walk straight out into the gardens and to the outdoor pool was perfect.

Musicians entertain guests every evening during the summer months, either in the lounge or gardens (where a new gazebo has been added).

Lovely gardens on the grounds and pools/sitting areas to enjoy the vistas.

We stayed in 29 garden Room with hot tub and it was so clean and modern.

They've Upgraded the swimming pool area, garden being upgraded aswell.

The rest of our family stayed in one of the lovely garden rooms.We had a great time, the weather was particularly kind to us which enabled us to have daily dips in the outdoor pool.

The room was perfect with a balcony and great view of the gardens and the sea.

You will not be disappointed as you walk to the dining room and wander round the gardens at Luccommbe Hall the view is stunning and it's tranquil and quiet.

We booked a room with a garden and hot tub which was brilliant.

We had a superior balcony room over looking the Beautiful gardens and a sea view.

We had booked a half board holiday, if we stay again I’d go for room only.

This was our first visit to the Isle of Wight and our first UK holiday undertaken entirely by public transport.

Luccombe Hall Hotel is a great place for a family break.

I will always recommend to friends and family so if you are looking for a family holiday or just visiting the island for a night.

We have just returned for a mini break at Luccombe Hall.

Couple stayed in Room 3 for long weekend holiday, and the room was great with an excellent balcony to relax and enjoy the sea views.

We loved the hotel so much that we are booking to return at the end of the summer holidays in a few weeks.

Our break coincided with our elder son and his wife’s wedding anniversary and we had asked for flowers and champagne in their room on arrival.That was easily arranged and how lovely to find an extra bottle of fizz in the room from the Luccombe Team!

Given a vey warm welcome from the moment we arrived with our little Great Granddaughter for a four day break away and would definitely recommend Luccombe Hall .

Would recommend to anyone looking for a well placed hotel on the island which has all you need for a relaxed and comfortable holiday.

Staff were all friendly and welcoming and the location was ideal, making an ideal holiday in the charming Isle of Wight.

We had a four night break at Luccombe Hall with our grandchildren aged 7 and 9 over the Jubilee bank holiday.

Spent a few days over the platinum jubilee holiday and had a fantastic trip.

Plenty of lounges for sunbathing and reading too, not to mention the toddler pool and hot tub.

The ground floor room with hottub was great fun for everyone.

The hotel is perfectly equipped for families with a games room, indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs which the kids loved.

Pools were good, especially outdoor pool with hot tub with lots of sun loungers in a sun trap.

We loved both the indoor and outdoor pools/hot tubs  and the breakfast has filled us up for the rest of the day!

The outdoor heated pool and hot tub were fab, we spent quite  a bit if time in there.

We had booked a hot tub room , very comfortable, spacious and clean which gave us easy access to the  lovely swimming pool and sun deck with wonderful views , plenty of sun loungers and towels provided

The hotel is outstanding, the staff can not do enough for you and the hotel offers a wide range of facilities from sauna to indoor and outdoor swimming pools and hot tub.

We had a hot tub room at Luccumbe Hall Hotel on a half board basis.

Staff are nice, beautiful grounds, comfortable bed,  great to have the indoor swimming pool, hot tub and sauna.

was a surprise birthday visit and stayed in the garden room with hot tub as part of the surprise.

Also, we booked garden room with own hot tub - again, not disappointed.

We had a lovely sea view room with balcony, the rest of the family had a ground floor with hot tub.

This hotel is amazing to say the least, in a nice quiet area, 2 car parks, lovely pools and hot tubs.

The swimming pool and hot tub were also clean, tidy and a good size so that it could be enjoyed by many.

The room was excellent and hot tub a fantastic addition.

but the furniture in communal areas is at a complete clash with the building, resulting in an "awkward" feeling for the guest who wants to relax in a comfy surrounding
In all honesty the bar tables and chairs look as if they were bought as a job lot from a bankruptcy sale and do not suit the building and/or decor
Indoor pool very good, but the showers were poor, lockers wouldn't lock and the changing rooms were not heated 
Would we return ? No.

However, our meal for 9 people on the Saturday night was very poor.

I should also add that wifi connection was very poor - it is nothing I consider as a major factor,

The only downside is that the shower was a very poor flow and I would have expected a better shower facility.

The waiting staff were of various standards, one poor woman ended up with her dinner in her lap care of a waiter who was a little over ambitious.

Only down side was poor insulation so you could hear noise from room above.

However the situation was not helped by those guests who pull in and get out without looking and checking as to how they have parked and whether they have in effect taken up 2 spaces by 
their poor positioning!

There wasn't too much noise from the kitchen, apart from one outburst of poor language on the first night.

The Isle of Wight seems mostly closed from Nov-March and Shanklin is currently a very poor looking little town indeed.

but which without the friendly staff  would have been poor.

Now the bits that we feel need addressing if they are charging £200 a night, to US the general up keep is poor, silly little fixes and paint jobs that need doing to keep it looking tidy,
The carpet as you go through the dining hall is dirty and shows badly with lights on in the high traffic areas and around the breakfast bar.

Food was very poor, overcooked and lacking in flavour.

The need to focus on the poor feedback and not just keep making excuses

The weather was poor the next day and I used the indoor pool.

but good honest food, we never had a bad meal.

The highlight was the first class service in the restaurant.

We were charged twice for our evening meal, which was an oversight,

She showed us the way to our room which was via the restaurant.

Roast beef was braised rather than roasted, and the same can be said for all the meats tbh.

We ordered room service twice and the food was well cooked and piping hot.

I’m assuming that the fresh baked croissant options were added to the menu so you could save throwing away the ones used on the buffet the day before??

We went with three generations and we all ate like kings and queens. Couple of things about the food - the coco pops are actual coco pops (yay!)

My main gripe was the food, we just didn’t enjoy the restaurant at all.

Dinner was excellent when we ate in, and the breakfast options were plentiful.

Decent food choice for breakfast and evening meal.

The food is amazing and children can order of adult menu

They have recently started offering a good lunchtime menu.

We swam in the sea used the pool we ate at fisherman’s cottage which was fabulous.

We had a Superior Room and Balcony at a cost of £800 + for 3 days
Upon arrival we were presented with a form to sign accepting that if we smoked in our bedroom we would be charged an extra £150 for additional cleaning - fair enough -

The room was comfortable and the facilities were superb as usual.

Our superior room with sea view and balcony was perfect for our needs.

The room had everything we needed and it looked newly refurbished and very clean and our room was very quiet at night.

The rooms are very spacious as is the bed!

If you want a room with a view, this is it!

My daughter and I had a beautiful room with balcony looking out over Sandown Bay.

The room was spacious and spotlessly clean.

Another hit was the new additions to the games room - last year was all about the air hockey and this year was a hands down winner for foosball and the basketball nets.

There is an indoor games room which kept kids occupied with table football, pool table etc.

Also great to see new toys added to the games room.

The room was wonderful we got views of the pool and sea.

The newly refurbished rooms and outdoor pool and landscaping are really super.

No mention of it whilst booking by telephone or in our email confirmation 
The form made no mention of vaping, smelly dogs, outrageous perfumes, or, bad hygiene.

Followed by  miserable stair case, which felt like going to the basement in a car park with a musty smell.

The room felt very oppressive and was noisy and smelly from the kitchen.

Negatives-Noisy fridge kept waking me up, en-sweet toilet area wasn’t clean & smelt horrible.

To conclude the downside – their web page notes ‘Wake up slow ….listen to the sounds of the sea and early morning birdsong.’ We awoke to the smell and noise of the kitchens below!

however we had to close the windows several times due to a cigarette smoke (and the hotel allegedly applies no-smoking policy).

First night our bed had a sticky residue on sheet.

On arriving at reception the smell of food, unpleasant boiled cabbage smell was very off putting.

nasty place with nasty people, rip off over priced dated and dirty place, really let it run down since our last visit, will not be returning.

In addition next to the bed boxed within the wall seems to be some sort of drain which goes off intermittently throughout the day and night, making my boyfriend jump in the night.

There was what looked to be a patch of damp in one of the corners of the room.

The unpleasant smell of cooking vegetables was also one of the first impressions after stepping inside.
