Only one caveat, some of the rooms not perfectly soundproofed.

Weekend nights the bar directly outside our room was very noisy till the early hours which could be heard in our room making an early night difficult.

Our room was on the front with a balcony overlooking the slopes, the only downside was, our room was over a bar (not part of the hotel) and some evenings it was noisy

Between the hotel and the slopes is a car park so a little noise in the mornings especially from the bin men

Previous reviews commented on the noise if your room was on the road side of the hotel.

My partner and I went to bed quite early, and often we heard noises where people talking loudly at the hallway.

As others have already mentioned, if you have a room at the front of the building, expect to be woken early with the traffic noise.

The hotel can be quite noisy on an evening with being on a street.

Both seating areas have large tv screens which by default seem to be on, or in the pub there's always music playing, so there's nowhere to go in the hotel to get some peace and quiet, other than back to the bedrooms.

However be warned the ice rink opposite plays constant boom boom music – I use music in the wide sense since no actual tune – rather annoying

It can be noisy due to the music from the ice rink during the evening and the snow plough / delivery trucks during the morning,

There is an ‘Irish bar’ in the hotel basement which serves coffee/tea and cake at 16.30, the evenings can be quite noisy in the bar.

We were on the second floor noise was not generally an issue except for the snow clearing on the road about 6.00am

Though some did complain of noisy rooms on the first floor above the Irish bar.

An truly awful, noisy experience with almost no sleep for the whole week.

I stayed in room 220 slope side, I believe road side is noisy early hours.

Such a shame about the noise as the hotel works hard as do the Crystal reps to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

The only draw back was we stayed on the first floor and could hear the noise from the pub at night

The hotel on first view was lovely, room was clean, staff were very friendly and the food was of good quality.

The Rooms were spotless and cleaned daily and the towels were changed every other day.

Only had noise 2/7 nights, and that was just drunk ppl outside, earplugs got rid of that.

although very thin walls so you can hear everything going on in the halls and adjoining rooms.

Walls are thin so if you get noisy neighbours you will be disturbed!

but tired hotel and no sound proofing between floors or room's.

However by 3am the music was still going strong in the Queens bar which is attached to the hotel and was so loud that you could hear everything from our second floor rooms.

The room overlooked the square, was on the fourth floor and directly above the Queens Lounge Pub which is situated in the hotel - we were not bothered by music or noise from the pub, even on the Karaoke night which we understand was quite lively (we're too old and boring for that kind of thing. .)

but good double glazed windows limited this noise.

You can hear everything in the room next door.

but not as noisy as it is made out to be.

We stayed on top floor in room 403, which was spacious, it wasn't particularly noisy only when bin men came every morning and I heard bit of music either from hotel bar or the derby bar next door.

Rude bar staff that have a laugh with each other when you're trying to talk to them, and kitchen staff that stand out side by the front door in chef whites smoking and shouting down the phone, seems like a hotel run by Mr.Bean.

But the only negative is the noise from inside hotel.

Also the service is pretty poor, if they know they're having tourists then the waiters should be able to speak English.

Sleeping - very poor, the mattress was very hard, (room 208) I did not sleep well any night and maybe the rooms need extra blankets, because at night I was cold.

Dinners-the food ranged from poor to average.

but in our room was poor to non-existent leading me to rely on my data allowance most of the time.

Evening meal was poor at best (you have to choose what you want the night before)
 we ate of a couple of nights.

although there was very limited snow in the region the hotel was excellent,  perched half way up the hill which is not for people who struggle to walk up hills it's very steep, walking in shoes or walking boots is ok try it in ski boots and then see how you get on, we went with Crystal holidays and their reps are very poor to what we were used to with other companies we had been with anyway that is a subject for another review, back to the hotel,. .

but signal can be poor depending on how many using the service.

However, the quality of the food was extremely poor.

Again we couldn’t understand why the food quality in the hotel was so poor when compared to her café’s!

Main course was very poor and without exception both my wife and I left it, always poor quality, not cooked well or tasteless.

but the main course, usually meat and potatoes was hit and miss, some really good and some a bit poor.

but because of the poor exchange rate prices everywhere were on the expensive side.

but better quality (the Queens and Paddy's beer is extremely poor!)

The lift system is poor with a bottleneck at Sportinia where there is a very old pair of slow 2 seat chairs.

but are functional and clean.. and each room seems to have a covered balcony which is very handy for airing out gear etc after a long day on the slopes..

From being allocated a large, spotless room to enjoying good food every evening, we had no complaints.

Only downside was that the walls were very thin and next door the couple could be heard rowing in 1am! !

Timer light doesn't last long enough before you route round the wall to try to switch on again.

Why the light can't be on a motion sensor beats me, especially as the one on the wall outside the boot room is!

I have slept in comfier beds and the walls are thin,

Sleeping was a little difficult, as the walls seemed to be made from tracing paper and the beds seemed like they were made of concrete slabs.

Walls were thin and could hear guests in surrounding room which meant I didn't always get a good nights sleep.

Walls and floors let through a lot of noise though, so my relatives in other rooms reported.

but not too small, quite hard beds - but nothing to stop you from sleeping. The walls are quite thin, so if you have noisy neighbours, you will hear them (even when they are being sick.  )

Unfortunately for me, a lot of guests paid a lot less than I did.

The main problem was that during our stay at least half of the hotel guests and some of the staff suffered sickness and vomiting. .

then the food and service just fell through the floor, in the morning the bacon was cold and the hot water hurn was luke warm so we couldn't mash tea properly , the following day the same so a guest turned it up

There is a problem with the heating in the hotel, or rather with guests messing about with the heating because there are notices on the back of the room doors telling you not to alter the radiators.

however there were some parents who let their young children crawl and run about the dining room with no thoughts for the staff carrying hot dishes or other guests.

but 2 Pillows should be provided for all Guests.

Sometimes it's the small efforts for guests that give the best impression.

An oddity is that guests must open windows to cool rooms down - fiddling with the radiator controls causes rooms downstream to lose all heating, so that could be a nuisance if you are unlucky with guests who don't see the clear instructions.

Having read some of the reviews - and, indeed, listened to some of the fellow guests - I am disappointed in the attitudes of my fellow Brits.

(not a guest would be my bet) If you pay anything more than half-price you will feel ripped off.

In truth, I think the chef is trying to deliver a menu that can be provided to all guests, all at once, in one sitting.

Last week we were guests in four, the Club Hotel Grande Claviere.

We stayed at this hotel over Christmas and think we were the first full week of guests to stay this season.

but some of the guests were, when arriving back from nights out or having loud family 'discussions'.

The public rooms are too small for the number of guests so the dining room is squashed, the lounge and bar area overcrowded.

The communal areas could do with being be a bit larger as there often wasn't enough seats in the bar for all the guests.

The rooms were ok 
 and we must have been extremely lucky as our room was actually hot (in fact too hot) as other guest were all complaining how cold there rooms were.

The food was not good not enough seating for guests in evening the cake at 4pm was non existent bread with chocolate spread or jam!!

Maybe guests were a bit poor at opening windows to air the bathroom and perhaps an extractor might have helped.

The bar area was a little small for the number of guests,

but ruined by the poor quality of food provided and not to the standard we would expect from Crystal and for the amount of money paid.

but we have the photos, the service at dinner time was so poor due to lack of staff, Saturday night we decided to eat out because the owners was giving us all the cold shoulder , dinner time 7.30 and when we arrived back at 8.45 one of us entered the dinning room to see guests waiting for their deserts, what they didn't know was the chef was out side the front of the hotel having a ciggy whilst they were waiting.

Some of the previous reviews about this hotel being poor are appalling and this hotel does not deserve these poor reviews

This is very much appreciated as I have paid more and stayed in chalets with poor heating and radiators to dry clothes.

As for the hotel the food is really poor and not very clean.Im not sure who wrote the earlier xmas review as everyone we spoke to could not believe how poor the chef was.

Due to the food it barely warrants a poor.

Best Advice is not to bother with the local pass

The food provided this year was very poor, yes it is plentiful

It was very poor value for money, in theory all inclusive,

Some excellent and some very poor results detailed.

The main thing my party was disappointed in was the poor service of the crystal ski staff.

but suffered from poor noise insulation - both inside & out; inconsiderate noisy residents returning to their room at night could be clearly heard, and the town snowplough dump was right outside - so if the road needs clearing due to overnight snow, be prepared for vehicle noise from 05:30.

although there was a link to Sestriere the route was arduous and the ski lift system is poor, it effectively took 1 hour to get from Claviere and this was all via lifts and bubbles - there was not a skiable option.

We ended up eating a hearty lunch at Mi Chi's most days so that we didn't have to face the poor excuse for food at The Grande.

It was clean and the room we were in had lovely views to the rear of the hotel and looked onto the slopes so it was lovely to sit on the balcony and have the sun streaming into the room.

The rooms were spotlessly clean, the comfiest beds & a lovely mountain view.

This is a lovely hotel, conveniently located for the ski slopes, spacious clean rooms (I got a room with a terrace/balcony with great views of the slopes), very helpful staff - at reception, at the bar and in the restaurant.

but very clean and has enough room for equipment and drying clothes at the end of a day on the slopes.

but the other options on the hot plate were a little on the cold side each night.

Hot food was cold, and when asked, the waiter said it was supposed to be that way.

Room with a dodgy door that takes ages to open each time you try to get in, internet doesn’t work, rude staff, cold ‘hot’ breakfast items, and DJ parties that echo through the whole hotel late past midnight- louder than music sounds in a festival tent.

The last thing you want after a 6 hour ski in the cold weather.

plenty of wardrobe space .breakfast was a letdown cold food not very appetising bread left out too long and gone stale very bland .

A generally cold, characterless room with the most basic of cleaning and features.

#1 Dont eat here, myself and 3 guests we made to pay 26 euros for 2 cold chips we had for dinner.

The large windows, also makes the bar area incredibly cold with a constant draft blowing everywhere.

The Hot food was cold for both breakfast and tea.

The food was always cold, we complained to the restaurant manager on the first evening and every mealtime for the first 3 days before we gave up and complained to our Nielson rep. Unfortunely the rep did not provide any feedback until our last night, explaining that several guests had complained and Neilson had raised these issues with the hotel management and there was nothing else they could do at a local level and would escalate the issue with their head office in Brighton.

and the only eggs are scrambled( my Fav) and they were often cold and too creamy/ sloppy.

For our family of 4 it would of cost €80 per day for a quick swim after ski ing

Age and wear meant that re-locking was fiddly and the frames leaked significant draughts of freezing cold air.

We persevered until the food arrived on one occasion and it was cold so we left to eat elsewhere.

Tiny tiny portions of strange creations, generally served cold, with even stranger translations on stone cold plates.

2 options for each of the 2 main courses - these were very poor quality.

Very poor lighting in room, food well below par for a 4 star.

The beds are particularly poor, very hard and pillows very cheap.

but the whole experience is undermined by poor execution and management. Shame.
