It’s a buffet for both breakfast and dinner with the addition of wine being included with dinner.

The food at breakfast and dinner is plentiful, lots of choice to cater for everyone, the dining staff are amazing and work so hard to make sure your plates are cleared and the free wine and soft drinks on the table are constantly topped up.

From the huge plates of focaccia pizza given to us on arrival, to the early breakfast specially prepared before departure, the food is top quality and plentiful.

Plentiful wine was included with dinner which was good, especially as the hotel's bar prices are steep (14 euros for 50cl beer and small red wine).

We had stayed at the Hotel du Col in 2011 and the excellent evening buffet was still a feature.

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so much food in one week and the huge choice available for breakfast and dinner meant there was something to keep everyone happy.

Half board included a buffet breakfast served 0800-1000 and buffet evening meal served 1930-2030 with unlimited drinks.

The food is excellent, well presented and plentiful. Overall if you are skiing in Sestriere you really should stay at the Hotel Du Col, you won't regret it :)

Only one caveat, some of the rooms not perfectly soundproofed.

Weekend nights the bar directly outside our room was very noisy till the early hours which could be heard in our room making an early night difficult.

Our room was on the front with a balcony overlooking the slopes, the only downside was, our room was over a bar (not part of the hotel) and some evenings it was noisy

Between the hotel and the slopes is a car park so a little noise in the mornings especially from the bin men

Previous reviews commented on the noise if your room was on the road side of the hotel.

My partner and I went to bed quite early, and often we heard noises where people talking loudly at the hallway.

As others have already mentioned, if you have a room at the front of the building, expect to be woken early with the traffic noise.

The hotel can be quite noisy on an evening with being on a street.

Both seating areas have large tv screens which by default seem to be on, or in the pub there's always music playing, so there's nowhere to go in the hotel to get some peace and quiet, other than back to the bedrooms.

However be warned the ice rink opposite plays constant boom boom music – I use music in the wide sense since no actual tune – rather annoying

It can be noisy due to the music from the ice rink during the evening and the snow plough / delivery trucks during the morning,

There is an ‘Irish bar’ in the hotel basement which serves coffee/tea and cake at 16.30, the evenings can be quite noisy in the bar.

We were on the second floor noise was not generally an issue except for the snow clearing on the road about 6.00am

Though some did complain of noisy rooms on the first floor above the Irish bar.

An truly awful, noisy experience with almost no sleep for the whole week.

I stayed in room 220 slope side, I believe road side is noisy early hours.

Such a shame about the noise as the hotel works hard as do the Crystal reps to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

The only draw back was we stayed on the first floor and could hear the noise from the pub at night

Food was very delicious, great choice for breakfast and for dinner.

This place was absolutely lovely it was clean and it had amazing food and I would highly recommend it the food was very fancy and they had every food you can dream of even squid and other things they also had healthy options overall it was lovely and enjoyable experience

but a few were lovely, the langoustines were particularly delicious.

Breakfast offered a huge amount of choice in a really nice dining area with great mountain views.

Downsides:
- Often a long queue as the shuttle bus only take 7 people.

Breakfast was ok and the view was beautiful from the hotel.

If you arrived at 8pm, the buffet would be gone and not topped up, so you would miss a lot of good food.

We went half board and breakfast and dinner was very good with lots of choices.

Restaurant, we were booked half board so had breakfast and dinner, the food on all occasions great, there was always a large selection and our 6yr old never went hungry.

but the kitchen will cook you something else if you ask.The breakfast had everything, from bacon, eggs etc.

In addition to the buffet itself, which varied from evening to evening, you also had the opportunity to choose a few dishes from the a la carte menu, even these were different from evening to evening.

Nice breakfast and good views from the rooms too.

The shuttle bus to Sportinia was an excellent inclusive addition and made that always-tiring trip from the slopes at the end of the day very straightforward.

There is a ski bus directly from the hotel that runs every 10 minutes and takes you to Sportina skilift.

The hotel offer a minibus service every 10 minutes for most of the day up to the lift.

Hotel was excellent for this - ski hire and heated lockers in basement, passes with discount bought from concierge, regular mini bus to main ski lifts - made everything much easier for a ski trip.

Can walk to clothes lift, we used hotel shuttle bus first thing to Sportinia, and walked back from clothes lift at the end of the day with a beer stop on the way.

About a 10 minute walk uphill to ski lift or wait for the free bus.

You can get the free hotel ski bus to the Sportina lift, which I would recommend if you have not so confident skiers in your party.

but there is a bus if you are happy to jostle to get on it.

but service bus runs just outside for 2euro pp.

The shuttle bus queues were quite long at peak times  - a bigger bus would be a good investment.

There is also a free bus shuttle to the Sportina lift which was great, you never had to wait very long.

There is a free shuttle bus to the slopes ever 10 minutes and free ski storage.

However great food plus mini bus running between 8.30 and 5 to the ski lifts.

but quite a way from ski lifts, although the hotel does have mini bus available to take you to & from the lifts.

The free shuttle bus to the slopes was great and ran around every 10 mins, so if you did miss it you didn't have long to wait.

mini bus was good every 20 mins to ski lift or would drop you in town only runs until 5.00 .

but the other options on the hot plate were a little on the cold side each night.

Hot food was cold, and when asked, the waiter said it was supposed to be that way.

Room with a dodgy door that takes ages to open each time you try to get in, internet doesn’t work, rude staff, cold ‘hot’ breakfast items, and DJ parties that echo through the whole hotel late past midnight- louder than music sounds in a festival tent.

The last thing you want after a 6 hour ski in the cold weather.

plenty of wardrobe space .breakfast was a letdown cold food not very appetising bread left out too long and gone stale very bland .

#1 Dont eat here, myself and 3 guests we made to pay 26 euros for 2 cold chips we had for dinner.

A generally cold, characterless room with the most basic of cleaning and features.

The large windows, also makes the bar area incredibly cold with a constant draft blowing everywhere.

The Hot food was cold for both breakfast and tea.

The food was always cold, we complained to the restaurant manager on the first evening and every mealtime for the first 3 days before we gave up and complained to our Nielson rep. Unfortunely the rep did not provide any feedback until our last night, explaining that several guests had complained and Neilson had raised these issues with the hotel management and there was nothing else they could do at a local level and would escalate the issue with their head office in Brighton.

and the only eggs are scrambled( my Fav) and they were often cold and too creamy/ sloppy.

For our family of 4 it would of cost €80 per day for a quick swim after ski ing

The food is very basic and the bar area is very cold.

On the down side ski room had no lockers and was not secure, one of our party had his Ski's taken and was forced to hire another pair, neither the hotel nor the Neilson rep were interested,  Main courses were often served cold and we had to send these back on a number of occasions, this is a common complaint why does the hotel not address this?? ?

Age and wear meant that re-locking was fiddly and the frames leaked significant draughts of freezing cold air.

We persevered until the food arrived on one occasion and it was cold so we left to eat elsewhere.

Tiny tiny portions of strange creations, generally served cold, with even stranger translations on stone cold plates.

The hotel also runs a free shuttle service to the Ski Lifts.

Great location with free shuttle to either of the lifts.

However, the hotel runs a free shuttle bus to the ski lifts (Clotes or Sportina) throughout the day, or there is a public bus which stops outside the hotel for €2/day.

Lawrence the van driver is lovely which is a free shuttle bus to the slopes.

If you do have to carry your skis about, the hotel has a free shuttle service that's very good.

Added bonus was the ski locker for our kit and the free shuttle bus to/from the ski lifts.

The staff were all really friendly and helpful and the hotel runs a free shuttle service to and from the lifts each day to save you having to use the pubic transport.

2 options for each of the 2 main courses - these were very poor quality.

Very poor lighting in room, food well below par for a 4 star.

The beds are particularly poor, very hard and pillows very cheap.

but the whole experience is undermined by poor execution and management. Shame.

The poor maid service will not stop us returning to this hotel.

The restaurant is basic and the food offering was incredibly poor.

Water pressure was pretty poor in our shower and the bath tub was a little stained.

The breakfast was very poor and it was so  clear that the main goal of the Director was to try to make a service as frugal as possible because of the mark up and not of making a good staying experience.

Room was old and shabby with poor cleaning standards - towels changed and bed made every day,

The ski room is pretty poor and there were kitchen staff smoking down there when I popped in, not a good look.

Think it was poor staff were smoking there!

I thought it was going to be a really poor hotel

Most of the group ate out after the second night of poor food, this was also the case with other guests we spoke to.

however their system for getting food out was poor.

Very very poor service to say the least and it leaves a sour taste.

however, the only place in the hotel where wifi works (sometimes)

We thankfully this year went B&B as we ate in the hotel restaurant one night and the food was pretty poor (not my recollection from when we stayed previously).

but coffee from push button machine was poor, surprising for Italy.

I've read reviews on here to say the food is poor. .

However, I had read a couple of reviews on La Torre which indicated poor food - in my experience it was just the opposite hence this review.

but it was really expensive especially as towels had to be hired at 5 Euros a piece and swim caps too had we not brought our own.

It said "Please note that the wellness centre is not inside the hotel and it comes at an extra cost. However, guests receive a discount."

Be aware that pool/ gym is part of a spa and costs 25euros pp per session.

Watch out for drinks charges in the restaurant.

but costs 20 euros for guests, which we thought was good value

but if you want to use the facilities to need to pay per person per day, that's the same if you want to use the gym.

Also the swimming pool costs €20.00 per person per day.

I have skied in Sauze 4 times, and this is the most expensive and definitely the worst accommodation.

but not included with the cost of the Hotel as we expected, Overall a very pleasant stay.

Overall the hotel was very good and we got a weeks stay here at a very good price as we booked back in June 2018.The only problem we had was with the maid service.

In the end we just had to pay as arguing with her wasn’t going anywhere.

Tip: when booking ask the hotel direct and you should get a better price.

Be aware that the Gym / Spa / swimming pool is in a separate building from the main hotel across the car park and you have to pay 20 euros each to use the facilities each time.

I'm really torn over this hotel and our ski trip here.

The rooms are excellent and large for a ski resort.

The lift pass service from the hotel was great as was the ski hire next door and the staff in the ski hire were brilliant.

The Ski resort was great too, plenty of terrain to explore.

The rooms were as to be expected for a ski resort , they were clean, spacious with plenty wardrobe space.

I don't normally write reviews - I would recommend this as a ski hotel as it was competitively priced with good sized rooms, availability of single beds and a good breakfast included.

All in all a good ski hotel, not 4* by capital city standards

although it's fairly easy to walk from the nearest Cotes lift back to the hotel in just ski boots on your return (assuming you manage to avoid the many bars you walk past! ).

However, it was really good at this hotel. The hotel was superb value (and the ski resort was good value too!)

This combined with the fact that the one radiator was never more than luke warm meant the room was surprisingly chilly for a ski hotel and we had to make use of the extra duvets supplied.

We visited this hotel last year on our ski trip and because it was so friendly, comfortable, clean, and good value, despite the quirkiness of the lift issues, we returned this year.

Location wise it's great as just at the bottom of the hill from the main town centre, only a minute walk (if that) and you're in the middle of the very charming little town of Sauze. The hotel's ski bus was excellent, ferrying us back & forth to the Sportinia lift (unfortunately we were there when there was not much snow so skiing was a bit limited

Rooms were huge and had more hanging space than any ski hotel I have stayed in.

The rooms are spacious (unlike many ski hotels) and the staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful.

Food was plentiful with great choices for all.

Wide range of breakfast foods and the evening meals were different each evening with always a choice of first and second dishes.

The salad buffet was massive and very varied

After a couple of nights we gave up on the same buffet starters and very average main courses and went out to some lovely local restaurants with some lovely local wines.

Plus hot offers of beans, eggs, saugages, bacon, fried eggs or omeletts, the last 2 cooked to order.

Food excellent, loads of choice at breakfast and dinner.

We recently stayed at this hotel, staff where attentive, food buffet was spot on lots of variety for both breakfast/tea, the location is ideal - ski hire outside, 3 min walk to bars/restaurants and depending on how quick you walk it’s a  5 min walk up hill to the chair lift where you can store ski gear (storage is also at hotel).

The downstairs bar was excellent and the food was delicious.

Rather than receiving something lukewarm or dried-out we were served the best beef I have ever tasted; it was succulent and delicious.

Only had noise 2/7 nights, and that was just drunk ppl outside, earplugs got rid of that.

However by 3am the music was still going strong in the Queens bar which is attached to the hotel and was so loud that you could hear everything from our second floor rooms.

but a little noisy when people are up and about in the morning but this didn’t cause us a problem and we slept well every night.

The room overlooked the square, was on the fourth floor and directly above the Queens Lounge Pub which is situated in the hotel - we were not bothered by music or noise from the pub, even on the Karaoke night which we understand was quite lively (we're too old and boring for that kind of thing. .)

but good double glazed windows limited this noise.

You can hear everything in the room next door.

but not as noisy as it is made out to be.

but noisy when guests returned after a night out!

We stayed on top floor in room 403, which was spacious, it wasn't particularly noisy only when bin men came every morning and I heard bit of music either from hotel bar or the derby bar next door.

Rude bar staff that have a laugh with each other when you're trying to talk to them, and kitchen staff that stand out side by the front door in chef whites smoking and shouting down the phone, seems like a hotel run by Mr.Bean.

But the only negative is the noise from inside hotel.
