The hotel owner is extremely helpful and oriented us to the town, must see attractions, and even helped us get medication when one of our friends got sick.

It is about 10-15 mins walk to the bus station where you can catch minibuses to Ephesus and other attractions.

Tourist attractions like The Basilica of Saint John, Turkish Bath Museum, Ayasuluk Castle, Mosque of Isabey, and The temple of Artemis are within walking distance from the hotel.

This is a very basic hotel, its clean and the location is good in relation to Ephesus and the Church of St John, the main attractions in Selcuk.

Ilker collected us from the airport at Izmir, pointed us towards local highlights, provided us with great tips for Istanbul, arranged a day trip to more distant attractions, took us to a fantastic lunch spot in the hills nearby and consistently made us feel welcome and completely at home.

Ilker Sen, the owner, spoke perfect English, provided recommendations and directions to area attractions.

The Nazar Hotel is well located in Selcuk, easy walk to town centre and a good base for seeing Ephesus and other attractions.

The hotel is also centrally located for the various attractions in this area.

The main attraction of Hotel Nazar is the family that operates the hotel.

I think it was the friendliness of Osman, the owner, that gave it such a welcoming attraction.

The pool was also a welcoming amenity after a long hot day tour of Ephesus and Selçuk.

Comfortable rooms, strong air conditioning, good showers and WiFi.

The rooms and bathrooms have good size and they are very clean.

The decor was a mix of traditional Turkish design with modern amenities.

But our room was comfortable, the bathroom was great, the Turkish breakfast was huge, the pool was inviting, so we cancelled the bus and stayed on.

The hotel is tastefully decorated in Turkish decor and the rooms are very comfortable (nice modern bathrooms) with some having wonderful views of the ancient castle.

The room itself was well appointed, spacious and had an ensuite bathroom with shower.

There was as spacious bathroom and a nice shower, which had very good water pressure.

To me, showers are important and the constant hot water and moderate water pressure helped me recommend this hotel when visiting ephesus.

Needless to say, the hotel itself and the amenities were wonderful and very charming.

He gave excellent advise on what to do and where to eat, and the included Turkish breakfast had delicious preserves from his family farm.

The breakfast is excellent: typical turkish fresh and genuine food both sweet and salted.

There are a few ATMs in town to withdraw cash from, though.

This is a cash only hotel like many small ones in Turkey

Only downside is that there is a lot of street noise and when we were there the visa machine wasn't working so we had to pay cash.

I made the reservation months in advance over the internet and paid €36 cash for the night.

but please note that he accepts only cash for payment but there is a cash machine not far away.The rooms were totally adequate and sleep was easy after the locals had gone to sleep at about 11:00pm.

But the night we stayed, I left early in the morning to walk to a nearby ATM (many of these small B&Bs do not accept cash) and Alice was waiting just outside the hotel in the small street when I came out.

As they do not take credit cards, they also did not require a cash deposit.

Upon check out, we were told that the credit card machine was broken and they could only accept cash.

We found the few drawbacks to be minor: the hotel is situated in a busy workaday area (but street noise can be almost entirely eliminated by closing the double-glazed windows); standard rooms are small; there is no lift and many steps into the hotel, upper rooms, pool area and breakfast area (so if mobility is an issue it would be advisable to discuss this with Ilker in advance); there is no dedicated car parking at the hotel.

Selçuk is a great little town and user/tourist friendly without being a “tourist town”, despite being so close to Ephesus.

They are both licensed tourist guides and have so much information at their finger tips.

Ilker and his wife were in the tourism business for years before purchasing the hotel and are passionate about Turkey.

Thankfully, the hotelier and his wife are both former tour guides who strive to excel in making tourists’ dreams come true in Turkey.

This is such a cute and cosy hotel with small and brightly coloured rooms.The hotel is also centrally located and it's close to the most of the tourist sites.The owner of the hotel,Ilker, is a very good host.

The hotel was walking distance to Basilica of St John, Temple of Artemis, Ayasuluk Fortress, and a central tourist area full of restaurants and handicraft stores.

They provide a shuttle from Selçuk tourism center and they also dropped us in the train station.

His background as a travel agent from Istanbul is very useful when you are a tourist, and need to book day tours or just get some intel.

(but they are happy to sell to tourists)

If we were going to do it again, we'd probably stay here again.

The hotel is just a few short blocks from the main tourist streets, and from several local sites of antiquities.

They were informative, convenient, reasonably priced and skip he touristy nonsense (carpet shops, onyx factories, etc.).

We stopped at tourist info in town to get directions, they phoned the hotel and Ilker the manager arrived in 5 mins to pick us up.

I felt taken advantage of for being a tourist and booking/committing in advance prior to seeing.

He scheduled me with a "no frills" tour, which is known for not stopping at tourist shopping traps.

They will not hesitate to ask tourists if they need any help for direction and etc.

Working as a travel agent for over 15 years, the host is very experienced and helpful in providing tourist information around Turkey.

Absolutely amazing breakfast and hospitality.

We had our Turkish style breakfast at the very cozy courtyard.

Relaxing included breakfast in the verdant courtyard.

While it seemed not the problem the first day, they seemed not too happy with serving the breakfast on the balcony on the day two, asking us why.

We stayed for 2 days in hotel Nilya and the staff are very accommodating and they welcomed sweet us with warm apple tea.

Breakfast were plentiful and fresh ingredients, coffee eggs made to liking with a selection of breads, coffees, dips olives etc.

The breakfast is very good with choice of freshly cooked omelette or fried eggs.

We really enjoyed eating the complimentary breakfast in the peaceful terrace every morning.

The breakfast was also very nice - omelettes made to order, fruits, vegetables, delicious jams and honey, etc.

The breakfast and courtyard are memorable.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was friendly and lively with all the hotel guests interacting with each other and exchanging stories of their travels.

A good breakfast served al fresco in the courtyard and friendly staff make this a hotel worth seeking out.

I also read another review here wherein the people had put some towels on the window to make the room completely dark.

Our friends were in the standard rooms on the ground floor which were small and dark.

Our only reservations were that the room was rather dark, there was no space around the wash basin to put all one's essential bits and the beds were rather hard.

Try to get there in daylight hours as it is quite difficult to find in the dark!!

I have to agree with a previous reviewer that the beds were uncomfortably hard and the room was small and dark.

One of the friendly owners, Erdal, helped us prebook our Ephesus tour with the excellent guide, Mehmet, and drove us to and from the site. However there are cons to the place as well: our room was small with little closet space, dark inside, definitely noisy (we wore earplugs at night) and plumbing system is "unique."

So we had to cover the window with curtain so the room was quite dark.

Of course the rooms are small and the beds are firm - just like everywhere in Turkey.

The shower head is like something from the 80s, and the water comes out in 5-6 distinctive streams instead of a proper shower.

It was very small - no-where to put bags except on the floor between the bed and the window and the bathroom was as small as it could possibly get.

The hotel has a Nomad's tent-style shop downstairs (relax, there's no hard pressure sales) and the rooms are decorated in the same style.

The bathroom was dated and needs renovation.

We had cold showers and some guests had no water

Yes the rooms are small, including the bathroom (and we're small people).

My only complaint is that the bathroom was tiny and there was only one wall outlet.

You cannot throw anything in the toilets though, because the piping system cannot handle it.

but you can also have eggs done in other ways.

Our room.and tiny balcony overlooked the castle and empty storms nests (sadly the wrong time of year) The roof terrace is utterly charming and the Full Turkish breakfast served there one of the best of our 2 week stay in western Turkey.

Centrally located and a walking distance to St John monument and Ephesus Museum.

It's also close to: Ephesus Archaeological Museum, Isa Bey Mosque, Ephesus Museum, Temple of Artemis and many more.

The Ephesus museum is only a few minutes away, as are many restaurants.

Small hotel in a very convenient location up he hill from the train station and across the street from the St. John Basillica museum.

It is also within walking distance to the Temple of Artemis and Ephesus Museum, and also to the otogar.

The room was good ; the location of the hotel is ideal - very close to the market and  5 mins walking distance from the bus stand, the railway station & the Ephesus museum  ; right next to the St John basilica and the Fort.

Well placed within walking distance of the otogar and various museums and other sites.

We were able to walk to local shops to buy picnic ingredients for Ephesus and to  walk to the Museum and the Artemision.

but the fact that the museum (which is worth a visit), shops & restaurants, the Dolmus depot (local bus stand)  and ATMs are all a comfortable walking distance is a big plus.The hotel also offers of free drop & pick up from the main tourist attraction at Selcuk: the Ephesus ruins.

The museum, castle, mosque, Artemis column are also within walking distance.

Located near the hilltop close to the castle entrance, and only 300m walk from the Ephesus museum and the mosque this family style hotel is comfortable and its owners welcoming.

It is in an ideal location, across the street from Saint John's Basilica, and walking distance from shops, restaurants, and the Ephesus Museum.

We went to the Ephesus museum in the afternoon, which is interesting after visiting the ruin site.

The halls and rooms are filled with turkish handicrafts - we felt like we were in a museum!

Staying at the Bella Hotel was like staying at a museum.

The room is very very very small and so is the bathroom.

Be forewarned the rooms are quite small as is the bathroom.

Our bathroom was a little small, with the only mirror in the room being the one above the handbasin.

The bathrooms are so small that you have to walk through a small gap in front of the toilet in order to reach the shower.

Negatives - We had a triple room for 1 night which was too small and cramped for 3 people.

The terrace is a charming place and they let us stay there after out check in waiting for the time to leave.

There's a rooftop terrace that is lovely for hanging out, and spying on the storks in their nearby nests.

The roof top terrace with views of castle, basilica and stork nests was particularly fine.

There is a nice gift shop and top terrace where you can enjoy a drink with the view of surrounding area as well as the stork nest across the street which was very cool.

Breakfast at the rooftop terrace overlooking the hill was definitely my favourite!

Our rooms were beautifully appointed, and breakfast on the rooftop terrace was excellent.

Nazmi and Erdal, and their family are as welcoming as ever; the terrace where one breakfasts and relaxes is just as magical; the storks are still in residence just across the street in the shadow of the citadel, and the little town of Selçuk just down the hill is still thriving.

and the roof terrace a very relaxing place to sit and to relax.

but it did have a terrace with nice views.

Breakfast is generous and good and served on the rooftop terrace.

It's close to the train station which we used to travel to Izmir airport.
