The radiator had a major leak so the carpet was wet through, the shower controls leaked & the bath waste blocked, the bathroom extract didn’t work.

but worst of all it was very very cold when we arrived, with just 3 small portable heaters.

but were told when leaving that there was air con in the room which again no evidence or info in room provided.

Beer ran out in bar, no phone or air con in room.

There is a useless fan and windows that dont open very far at all.

Breakfast was nothing special and room had no air con.

but by 2am is was 24c according to my app and outside it was 11c not the hottest night just couldn't sleep even with the fan on.

The other problem was with the a/c which I turn off at night.

Went back to the hotel hopeful for a nice dinner absolutely shocking excuse for a halloumi burger (the 1 sheet off lettuce was bigger that the 1 slice of halloumi) 45 minutes waiting for our food, staff were not very attentive and due to all doors and windows open for covid reasons it was absolutely freezing.

but upon arrival we found that there was no Air Conditioning in our room, simply a fan that was stuffed in the wardrobe.

This was after a night we could hardly sleep as the room was uncomfortably hot due to three radiators on and only one window working partially in an attempt to bake us.

No heating in function room, long wait for food which was cold, waiting staff were appalling.

Room was freezing, apparently the heating had broken down 2 days before. .

The venue was absolutely freezing cold and on complaining to the duty manager I was advised that the heating had been broken for the last two days,  I was surprised to hear that the management thought it acceptable for guests to sit in their coats for the entire evening rather than to either relocate or cancel the evening.

The interior spa pool had missing tiles and the windows  in the pool area (including the internal windows) were running with condensation showing that the air handling wasn’t designed correctly.

Heating left on full boiling in bed all night.

Large amount of hair (including skin attached) found in the bed and room overlooked the bin area and I was kept awake all night with the hum of air con units situated outside the window.

No air conditioning meant it was like sleeping in a sauna!!

Breakfast was delicious with a great choice of dishes and the spa was amazing!

Breakfast the next morning was buffet style and of a good quality.

Otherwise our stay was fine - great staff and they have a good breakfast.

The Sea Bream was very well presented and cooked to perfection, the chicken was succulent and edible.

Breakfast was exceptional with loads of choice.

Included in our package was a 2 course evening meal which was to a very high standard, restaurant staff like all the staff were very friendly and made our break really enjoyable, breakfast in the morning was a buffet with a great selection of cooked and continental.

I'm vegan and despite confirming this in booking and subsequent emails, nothing was marked as vegan on the breakfast service and if 
I wanted to order a vegan breakfast it was anotehr £5 supplement!

The whole experience, to celebrate my Daughter's Birthday, was relaxing, pleasant and enjoyable.

Beautiful hotel in an old manor with exquisit garden, very quiet and relaxed.

All round great accommodation ,food and staff service.First time I have visited in summer and the gardens were a beautiful setting for a relaxing drink after a session in the gym.Will definitely be back in the future.

Total waste of money and was stressful rather than anything spa-like or relaxing.

This is a beautiful heritage building grossly let down by cheap spending on the interior of the rooms.

We had dinner in the restaurant and it was superb.

but the restaurant staff were very accommodating.

The staff needed a good manager to operate the service as there had been at dinner.

The room was very nice and spacious with Elemis toiletries.

Room overlooked beautiful well kept gardens so was nice to wake up to bird song and no traffic.

We adjourned to the lounge for a drink after dinner and we’re almost pressurised into leaving, as just after 10.00 a staff member cleaned other tables in room and with spray cleaner in hand asked us if we wanted  anything else.

The hotel rooms are spacious, quiet and clean and the staff were friendly and accomodating.

Bannatynes Hastings provided a high class bedroom with a “luxury” wet room.

The main dining room was comfortable with well spaced tables overlooking the rear grounds.

The executive room wasn’t has spacious as I’d expected, more like a standard double to be honest.

Me and my mother attended Bannatynes hotel and spa for my mothers early birthday treat.

We chose our first stay at a Bannatyne Hotel and Spa from a Virgin Experience selection.

Heading out a couple of hours later and there was plenty of space suggesting alot of the spaces were taken up by the day spa users.

although we didn’t use the spa and gym it looked first class very good value for money

Very little information given in advance regarding requirements to use spa facilities.

The spa facilities were great and all complimentary.

Emma on the desk when I checked out was also very helpful.

The automating ordering system may be an efficient recording medium

although it was a buffet style, the staff were more than happy to cook a black pudding which my father requested.

Excellent service from all the staff, especially Alex who organised an early check in for us and did everything to make our stay wonderful while we attended a wedding close by.

but the hotel was it was really lovely and I should imagine that in the warmer months it is quite spectacular as the gardens are beautiful.

but our room was gorgeous, overlooking the gardens  with a huge bed and fab bathroom.

The bed was huge, the view over the gardens was lovely and the bathroom was clean and came equipped with elemis soaps, shampoos and conditioner.

Good weather meant that we could also appreciate the gardens which are well laid out and colourful.

but £4 for a small portion of chips is rather excessive Breakfast the next morning was good, the egg benedict was lovely but had to ask three times for extra tea when we had finished our first pot, I am unsure why we were forgotten when we asked as sat right next to kitchen area.

Breakfast was far too much DIY for my liking - queues to make your own coffee and toast - part of the pleasure in staying at a hotel is someone else doing this for you.

We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and both of them were absolutely delicious.

Evening meal of seafood and fish was to die for and breakfast the next day was just as good, cannot fault it.

Breakfast was very nice and the chirpy chap who served our table (who kept calling me Miss)!

but they were all delightful and the food was absolutely delicious whilst décor was, if anything, an improvement on the interiors before the terrible fire.

Breakfast was excellent with a lot of choice and a small continental breakfast was also included.

Had been at the new Langhams that week and would put our meal on a par in terms of flavour/ ingredients.

The delicious espresso martini was a brilliant way to top the evening off.

The staff were incredibly helpful, (apart from one manager in the restaurant ) they were all cheerful, informative and friendly.

Breakfast was brilliant, especially the poached pears and kippers.

Our waitress Annarita took such care of us and our meals were delicious.

The staff were mindful of the issues raised and having fed this back up the line, hey presto this mornings breakfast was just perfect.

They had a good choice menu for breakfast and evening  meals, and everyone was very helpful and obliging.

The bathroom had both a roll top bath and a very large shower room as well which was a nice touch.

Having heard good things from our son prior to the fire at The George we paid a visit for lunch to try the refurbished hotel.

The bar was busy, the atmosphere was buzzy and cheerful and the bar staff were attentive and friendly.

Great stay - really lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff to welcome us as well as making recommendations for our stay in Rye.

The rooms are very well designed with attractive interior design.

The hotel has been beautifully restored following the recent fire.

The room was fine with new decor appropriate to the building and the staff were friendly and obliging

from the attention to detail regarding design to the quality of the service and food.

We arrived curious to see the restoration and if they had been able to keep the ambience and style of the hotel.

The hotel has been refurbished beautifully and look forward to staying again!

We knew they had recently re-opened from a fire, so we were thrilled to see the gorgeous old beams in the pub survived and the place still has so much historic character!

The decor was very attractive and the bathroom was great.

The vibe was great and the decor is amazing.

The room we had was extremely noisy until 1am when the staff had finished clearing up - it sounded like they were having their own party.

Walls are bare plaster and not all of them sealed so ended up covered in white dust, all over our backs!

The bed and pillows are extremely soft and were the result of an aching back, this with the birds noise and creaking floorboards made sleeping very difficult and anything

Residents can order drinks after closing time  and as we were finishing a final glass of wine at about 11 30 pm a disgruntled barman (not Mr Mojito) told us to keep the noise down as residents were sleeping.

though and so was a bit noisy in the mornings (especially Friday morning when the recycling rubbish is collected - wow that would wake the dead!

but has all of the amenities you could wish for - it’s atmospheric so expect some noise from creaking (above) - there was also some street noise but what you’d expect from a Friday night and didn’t go on for too long.

but we were slightly concerned about noise from an extractor fan, which the staff assured us would not run at night.

The only downside was because it is old we could hear the people upstairs walking across the room and bumps etc.

Definitely ensure the room you book has no one above as the sound does travel and maybe get room service for breakfast during busy times -

I did not sleep well at all as you can hear every single movement of the people in the upstairs room- so when they went to the toilet in the night I was Woken up- as the floors are so creaky - I also woke up when someone was leaving around 5 and then again from 7 when a number of people were up getting ready.

though a rattllng window did keep us awake some of the night(!)

Dinner in the the Grill in the second night was slightly marred by two things - over done Chateaubriand and noise.

Rooms on the street side are very noisy at night, especially as people leave the bar.

The second night we were awoken at about 5am by wheely bins being trundled across the courtyard and glass being thrown in obviously in preparation for collection.

There is a soft noise when you turn on the bathroom light and I  think it is supposed to be a fan of some sort,

Noise area due to a extractor fan ?? Etc.

Food is good with some unusual items among the fish and steaks.

The restaurant looked really busy too, I’ll be returning to eat soon!

Interesting to note today's Times article on The George only gives them 3/5 for food.
