Good hotel with a nice pool, bar and restaurant.

The rooms are VERY spacious and well equipped, bar fridge, micro wave oven, safe etc.

Boesies bar and restaurant is separate from the main hotel building

It was a good place to base ourselves, quiet with a good breakfast and a friendly bar  - all in all it was good value for money.

The rooms were beautiful and the breakfast was great.

I waited like I was stupid then a guy they know walked in then he was helped immediately

but the hot foods offer a buffet of 8 - 10 different choices with a fruit or cereal accompaniment.

Florene working at receprion welcomed us in such a way that we felt obliged to thank the merchant hotels staff for their kindness and their wonderfull breakfast.

all the staff were hanging around reception sharing a naartjie from the breakfast buffet, which still had price stickers on them!

There is a wide choice at breakfast and the food is of good quality.

Also, the included breakfast buffet was quite good.

however did outdo themselves on the breakfast they offered.

The outdoor facilities were very good, as was the breakfast, free internet and ice machine.

Breakfast is standard fare - nothing too exciting

Suitable for the business traveller with appropriate comfort for work trips.

I will definitely be using the Merchant for future business trips.

I can recommend it to business travellers as well as families who want an outing in Secunda.

I have stayed at this hotel on my business trips, their chalets and even their premium flats (Jakkalsdraai).

I stayed at the Merchant hotel whilst on a business trip.

But for a business stay, the Merchant was better than expected: clean, comfortable, sufficient TV channels, close to the plant and amenities, and relatively quiet.

I was in Secunda for a 3 month business trip.The Merchant hotel had the best reviews so I opted to book there.

Just had a couple of days here on business in the area.

The rooms are perfect with enough space to feel comfortable when working.

I have stayed here on more than one occasion, the staff are so friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable.

Spacious room, comfortable beds and everything you might need was thought of.

The hotel is advertised as a business class hotel and is a decent standard hotel, rooms are clean, multiple region sockets for plugging in your devices, beds are comfortable and bathroom is ok. A bit strange having the clear glass screen directly into the bedroom area.

The rooms are modern and spacious, and completely comfortable.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable bed, cleaned to a good standard daily and come with TV, a good size fridge, tea/coffee making equipment and excellent shower.

The rooms don't have any phones to call reception.

However a few odd points - shower has a clear glass screen directly into the bedroom area, wi-fi really very slow, no phones in the rooms, bottles of water not provided properly.

It's the first hotel I've stayed in that didn't have a phone in the room, which meant I had to use my mobile for conference calls.

No phones in the rooms, the music is terribly loud in the passages, the glasses at the lodge of the wedding we attended were dusty and had spiders in them!

Main Issues
They have no phones in the room so you constantly have to physically go to reception for towels and wake up calls and everything else.

Very nice restaurant,  pools and gym that is open 24/7.

it feels like you're on a mini vacation out of Mpumalanga I absolutely loved it especially the blue house with the indoor pool.

The honeymoon suite was great and had a huge jacuzzi.

There also is a pool and decent restaurant by the lake.

Would like to eat inside the hotel and not outside.

Excellent location to access work, Secunda Shooping Mall and nearby restaurants.

The complex is very secure and you can also walk next door to other restaurants, pubs and shops.

It is we situated at Lake Umuzi which means that it is walking distance to the restaurants.

Hotel area is nice with a few restaurants on walking distance.

I like the fact that there is ample restaurants to choose from.

For the record upon check in I enquired about dinner, and was told I have two options for restaurants.

Supper is via vouchers at adjacent restaurants.

The hotel is very close to a number of restaurants which made dinner  pleasure.

A very good one night stopover within walking distance from the waterfront restaurants.

Considering the fact that one of the largest refineries in SA is situated in Secunda, this hotel comes as a pleasant surprise, and close to the Umuzi Waterfront and a selection of restaurants right on your doorstep.

We like the location beside a commercial plaza, so we could have walk every evening and to pick up a new restaurant  for dinner.

Within a walking distance, there is a limited number of restaurants and entertainment facilities (for young ones).

The choice and quality of food in Boesies is also very good.

Merchant Hotel is well located on the waterfront, with lots of activities and various restaurants to choose from.

The location is great because there are lots of restaurants within walking distance and Lake Umuzi is something pretty to look at.

Rooms were appropriately laid out for both getting work done at night and relaxing and recovering from the working day,

Love that every room has it's own iron and ironing board.

The rooms are a nice size, and have a small  lounge area and working area.

Complimentary instant coffee/tee in the room.

Make sure that you bring your own access point as speed in some of the rooms can be close to zero

Rooms were clean and tidy, as was the rest of the hotel.

I stayed in 3 different rooms over a period of 3 weeks.

Rooms are fine - nothing special and breakfast is decent.

The Cullen Skink was absolutely delicious and was my wife, Elmarie’s choice.

Breakfast is within reachable walking distance with equally friendly staff who are at your service as you arrive.

You can have for example, breakfast in South Africa,  lunch in eSwatini then dinner in Mozambique.

The breakfast was great the room was super fantastic.

The buffet at the hotel restaurant was out of this world.

For business meetings and workshops in Secunda, Graceland offers comfortable rooms and services, accompanied with a vast selection of food for breakfast and dinner.

Hotel accommodation was excellent, breakfast and supper was divine, staff was excellent.

Besides that, the breakfasts were superb, the food in Madisons was excellent and brilliant value.

my wife and I decided to try the dinner buffet at this hotel's restaurant for my wife's birthday.

We went there with friends for a nice breakfast at outside close to the Swimmingpool.

Graceland Hotel Casino Country Club hosted journalists at their Blue Bayou restaurant to introduce their new menu.

Graceland casino and hotel resort is one of the best places for a break away or a business trip.

Shower is terrific

Downstairs a casino and a few restaurants.

From extreme effective check-in and friendly staff.

The only exciting entertainment is if you are a golfer, their golf club is excellent, and very friendly staff.

The service was friendly and the food was nice.

The staff is very helpful, efficient and friendly.

the cleanliness of the room, the calmness as well as professionalism of the reception staff , room service from one waiter i forgot to take  her name was so exceptional  ( friendly ,down to earth , warm )

Had an awesome day and night at Gracelands, stunning linx golf course, relaxing by the pool, a few restaurants to choose from, great for couples and for families.

Around the hotel is a beautifully laid golf course with a view.

Golf was much enjoyable, and the spa was a great relax after wards.

There is also a golf course for aspiring golfers like.

The golf coarse is very good and the golf bar is a great place to relax in the evenings.

The golf course was well manicured and the greens are one of the best in the country.

This is a family friendly venue, great for business, a round of golf or to watch a movie or live show from some of SA's best artists.

The Golf course greens was fantastic and the Pro Shop staff was excellent to ensure you enjoyed your round.

Rugs in room in poor condition and need steam cleaning or replacement.

The Caddys\Spotters were very very poor though, they could not spot the ball properly and provided incorrect lines on the green.

It seems the facilities have not had an overhaul since the 1990's.

The outside area around the pool could have been in a better condition.

Generally the hotel needs refurbishing.. the rooms are a bit shabby and need upgrading,

I, on the other hand, couldn’t resist scrutinising the menu for the “pièce de résistance”.

Food is positioned for easy access

The pool is laid out in a nice oval shape with palm trees.

Infact, the facility allows one to have 3 course meal in 3 countries in a day.

Love the idea of the a'lacarte menu over weekends.

Their rooms are standard rooms like any hotel, nothing spectacular, more for the business person, just for an overnight stay, their food is very good.

but the stay was excellent, food excellent.

the food was good, they could do with a little more sea food varieties.

You will enjoy a place where the focus is on keeping the customer happy with the food and services supplied.

Spent 30 minutes trying to book in, very slow reception service, overcharged,refund process beyond belief,  room a disaster, plug does not work, shower in bath is seriously dangerous.

It is a potato and smoked Haddock broth with slow cooked Haddock and thyme infused potato cubes and crispy fried julienne leeks.

Service is dreadfully slow, and they don't always get the order right.

but you can't even use it because the internet is so slow.

Extremely satisfied with the services and assistance we received before hand and on arrival.

We had a corporate function for about 80 and staff for top cyclists who are usually quite fit and in good health.

The guests were treated by Acting CEO Pieter de Villiers and his wife Debby as well as Veneshrie Chetty.

The staff responding to my request when I was in need of their assistance.The hotel is well situated.

I paid 840 for a room they booked me in a 600 standard room which they didn’t even clean

Furniture is cheap, bathroom is outdated and not up to standard.

but the cleaning staff would live our without a toilet paper

The eas mo soap in the bathroom had to use mine.

No proper shower since the system being used is not conducive as such while bathing water splet on the carpet and I had to walk on the wet carpet as I was dressing up for my meeting.

The bathroom was also not cleaned up properly, there were pieces of hair that belonged to another person.

The bathroom had hair in a couple of places which were cleaned when I called reception and the silicone needs replacing as well as the shower curtain.

The carpet needs to be cleaned or changed.

I was not happy at all,,and the smell coming from the carpet was bad

but should consider changing the carpets or just be tiled all over.

While I was there the carpet was never vacuumed or swept, I left the same crumbs I had found there.

I had my doubts about the cleanliness of the carpet as well.

However, the staff was very friendly and the beds was pretty comfy.

Their reception staff is super friendly and they even willing to show you around.

I enjoyed the overnight stay at the hotel, the staff was friendly and understanding as I had to live at four in the morning and return at 9 to freshen and checkout at 11.

As per the very friendly note that states "We want your stay to be pleasant" we asked reception on "night shift" for some water.

If it wasn’t for the dirty and dusty room I would have definitely booked there again, because of the friendly staff members and the reception area, restaurant and outdoor area looks very nice.

Everybody was so friendly and made us feel very welcome.

The food was really good and the staff were really professional and friendly.

This is a stunning hotel with friendly STAFF and great service.

When I checked in housekeeping was busy with my room, so I left and came back later in the evening.

The food in my opinion is very expensive for this area  hence the restaurant is not busy

Extremely disappointing with our stay and would strongly suggest you do an audit on services also the quality room for the price is unacceptable.

At the kitchen the speed point was not working as such I had to walk from the kitchen to the reception and back to the kitchen eventually back to the reception to pay for the breakfast.

I paid R2424 (excluding) breakfast I know it’s not much compared to other places,

Booked via app which states the over R800 fee was a deal, only to get to the hotel it advertised as R600 for tonight.

I would definitely come again with more friends n family.the pool the view have not tried food yet

the back rooms are far from the restaurant, walking there when is dark or quiet can be scary.

We went here for a meal and for a business meeting.

Redo everything about this hotel starting from the receptionist to the kitchen and the rooms.

The self-catering rooms have a nice view with balcony, a fridge and a very clean kitchen.

Room comfort, freshness of it and bedding, my choosy back problem even loved the comfort of you bed😍, it was personal to me.

Hotel was close to my destination, welcome reception average, rooms are old

I had a great experience there, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was nice besides that the yoghurt was finished the time i came.

The room was nicely warm and all the necessary amenities were there.

I was not happy with the following:
Floor carpets in the rooms
Bathrooms are clean and up to date
Iron and ironing board not in good condition.

I’d leave the room around 08:00 and come back between 19:30 - 20:00, so housekeeping had all the time to clean up.
