The second part of hotel called : “ Village” was disaster: Elevator didnt work 4 days from our 8 days vacation , air-condition worked only 6 hour daily and the temperature was about 40 degrees outside.

Air conditioning worked all day long, cooled down the room as expected, no issues.

The air conditioning is controlled by the building & it shut's off at 4:00 am.

They nearly blew a gasket when we said we were only there for one night.

Lot of things don't work like the elevator, blowdryer and WiFi for example.

If you stay across the street, you get there underground through a tunnel with the worst elevators I have ever seen.

We were greeted with refreshments, the reception staff were friendly and helpful.

The staff in the main restaurant were most friendly and helpful.

Front desk and dining staff are always friendly and aiming to please.

I found many interns doing their best to serve customers and a very friendly atmosphere.

Delicious meals in the hotel restaurant (all inclusive) - professional and friendly service.

Everything was clean, food was excellent, stuff helpful and friendly.

We had a fantastic time, the hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly.

The restaurant was friendly and the breakfast plentiful

The staff were all very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and everything was in a walkable distance.

The staff are all lovely, kind and friendly: much more important than trendy decor.

The bar personnel were attentive and very friendly to be around, quick, attentive and most of all friendly.

We had a room overlooking a busy road so the quality of a stay was sometimes disturbed by heavy lorries, loud motorcycles or ambulances.

Cons:  loud, loud, bad music all the time.

The majority of guests were quite noisy Italians, so If you look for a quiet place, Santa Caterina is  certainly not for you.

..a stone beach and a little to noisy room at nights (faced to a road direction).

However, the music played constantly at the beach, far too loudly, and there was an announcer who could not shut up.

but along a very busy road, could not sleep without earplugs!

The staff in the restaurant is so kind, menager Luca and his waiters are always well organised and say Hi with a smile.

A lot of animations and very creative staff made our stay in hotel attractive for our children.

Thank you for the hospitality and special treatment Luca and the staff 😘  the food was very interesting and the staff most polite ever.. the resort restaurant is surely worthwhile!

People warm-welcomed,  service in restaurant excellent, clearing service very accurate and caring, Staff helpful, excellent Italian cuisine, animations and animators wonderful, Carlos and His zumba dances unforgettable.

Our stay in the hotel and in the beach it was memorable i spend a really good moments that i never gonna forget my wife was super happy so i could not ask for more, the room is super clean as well as the toilet and shawer. They gave us a room with the seaview for free so we appreciate that, nice staff and big hotel you can do a lot of activities there also recomendable for families and of course couples too :)

As for Santa Caterina - its location, informal attitude of the staff, comfortable room, culinary surprises of the local chef and, of course, the amazing sea and beach deserve the highest possible praise.

Good kitchen-variety of dishes, including sea foods and italian foods-pasta, a lot of fresh fruits, 

, nice staff, large and clean rooms.

There´re many possibilities of sport and other entertainment provided by professional animation group.

The most unhelpful place I’ve ever stayed in.

The staff was easy to work with and attended to questions and needs.m

Staff is so attentive to your every need.

I'll be back next year.. Staff eager to provide any service requested by guest.

I heartily recommend a stay at the resort: clean and comfortable rooms, nice and competent service, good food, lots of attractions both in the hotel and in the village, wonderfull beach and sea - a great place to spend time with family or friends.

Our room had all facilities needed and was rather spacious and always clean - we enjoyed having a little balcony access for our evenings too. Breakfast was provided in a very homely fashion, with fresh crossaints from a local bakary and home made cake (which we dearly miss!)

Our room was spacious with access to a fridge, a balcony and common area.

There is a small balcony on the first floor where you can dry washing on a line with pegs supplied.

They guided us throughout the beautiful beaches, showed us around the city and helped us along every step of the way!

Great B&B, gaetano and his family where amazing.Great breakfast,beds where comfortable, walking distance to the beach.

The room was charming and comfortable, and it was a short walk to the beach.

Best of all is the location - right in the centre near the shops and a 5 minute stroll from the beach   There’s a playground for children across the road.

Everything was close: the beach, the monastery, restaurants, a cash machine and, most of all for us, the Giro d’Italia started right in front!

Lots of cafes, restaurants & grocery shop nearby, as well as the beach.

It is close enough to the sea that you can walk to the beach and promenade.

On the final day, Gaetano and his family drove us to a nearby beach to see some rock formations and arches.

The beach is only a couple of blocks away with its long bike/recreational path and separate walking path.

Also, visit the Church in the grotto behind this B&B for a lovely sunset view of the beach and the paragliders doing there thing.

The B & B is well located in the center & a very short walk from the beach.

The location is close to the beach, stores, restaurants, and train station.

The B&B is centrally located, a few minutes walk to the beach which is great for a long stroll.

The location of the B&B is also very convenient, close to the super market and the beach.

Well located at 5 minutes walk from the beach,  with a grocery store next door and a bank and very good restaurants within 5 minutes walk.

Although Praia a mare might not be the busiest place, this bb is very nice, clean and wel located to see the beach and church

He even drove us to the beach area the next day for an hour boat ride (paddle boat) and then picked us up too.

Al Vecchio Pioppo is a bed and breakfast centrally located near the beach, shopping and restaurents in Praia A Mare.

Its proximity to the beach and other amenities make it so.

Since we weretravelling in the off season most restaurants and B & B's were closed.

Gaetano, the landlord, and his wife are very sympathic and friendly people, who love to care about the guests.

Gaetano couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, he recommended a great restaurant, and took me in his car to an optician to get my glasses fixed - he seems to know everyone in town!

We were met by the friendly Gaetano at the train station and taken for an espresso by our host.

Again, our hosts are very friendly and it was a pleasure to meet them in the hot streets of the town at night.

Gaetano and his wife Antonella were really friendly and also a lovely funny couple to watch.

but it is beautiful, prosperous (at least the coastal areas) and the people friendly and accomodating.

If I were to rettò Praia a Mare, I would definitely choose this welcoming place.

Gaetano is a great host, and was helpful with suggestions on places to eat and sights to visit.

We had a wonderful time in Praia a Mare made extra special by very welcoming hosts, Gaetano and his wife, who went beyond our expectations to make our stay very comfortable.

Very hospitable, picked us up 2 hours away and drove us back.

Gaetano and Antonella welcomed us like members of the family to their lovely, comfortable B&B.

but the owners, Gaetano & Antonella, opened it especially for me and I found a cool & warm place to stay, nice atmosphere, well clean, good breakfast and nice moment.

The host, Gaetano and his wife were helpful and available.

Gaetano & his family were extremely hospitable and kind.

Great to have such a knowledgeable guide to the area who is so keen for you to see it.

Gaetano, who lives close to the B and B, is easy to reach and very attentive to his guests.

At about 4:00 PM one of the ladies began to feel ill from motion sickness, so we got off the Autostrada and entered Praia a Mare.

The BnB rooms were large and very comfortable, breakfast was also very good; Our hosts were very attentive to our needs and made us feel like family.

He was always willing to answer any questions we had and assist us in anyway he could.

They were very accommodating and were so enjoyable to be around.

He found us walking from the train station to his B&B and was kind enough to give us a ride.

Gaetano is a great host; he went an extra mile to show us around, even drove us to Dino Island.

Our hosts Gaetano and Antonella were phenomenal throughout our stay!

The hosts could not have done more for us both before and during our four night stay.

Our host took care of everything, including broad, tasty breakfast and a lot of great tips for sightseeing and how to explore the region of Praia a Mare.

Gaetano e Antonella are the best hosts in the world, they do everything for you to be at home, the rooms are beautiful and so comfortable.

They were warm and gracious hosts, providing us with a delicious breakfast, lively conversation and timely local insights each morning.

Gaetano, is a great host and he provided great tips and lovely breakfasts with delicious coffee.

My family and I stayed at Al Vecchio Pioppo on Sept.1st, we were greeted by our host Gaetano; Gaetano was very helpful in offering to take us around Dino island, provided information on must see places in Calabria, we were also invited to his home to an excellent dinner prepared by his charming and talented wife Antonella: Best dinner we had during our vacation!

You could not ask for more charming hosts.

The hosts Gaetano and Antonia are great and will gladly drive you around for visiting or on their boat for a very acceptable price.

The place its fantastic and the hospitality even more Antonella & Gaetano are great hosts and have this genuine hospitality that only southern ppl can propose.

Its owners Gaetano and Antonella are equally gracious hosts, preparing traditional Calabrian gastronomical offerings at the request of the guests.

Antonella and Gaetano are great hosts who took care perfectly for us.

Gaetanoand his family were brilliant hosts who helped with everything from car rental, where the best beaches were, local food festivals and restaurants in the mountains.

Gaetano and Antonella proved to be marvellous hosts.

In the course of our stay we discovered that our hosts were going the extra mile with just about everything.

As someone suggested before, the only downside is the lack of internet access,

The only negative was a lack of internet access which in today's world is basic in any hotel or B&B.

The hotel is on the beach, has its own beach and guests have sun loungers and umbrellas at the hotel's price.

This hotel takes you back to the heyday of incredible hotels on beaches along this coast, the rooms are dressed as they were, and filled with antiques that are all usable, the reception upon arrival was amazing, so friendly and helpful and the pool, gardens and lido which is just 2 minutes walk away is perfect.

There is a fantastic pool, as well as the hotel beach which has wifi and a bar.

It is just 25 minutes walk form the railway station, and you reach the hotel beach in 1 minute, and  historical downtown with a nice 5 minutes walk.

The beach under the hotel was lovely and so convenient.

We stayed on both the second and third floors with a balcony and amazing views of the sea and along the coast to the old fort.

The location is perfect- overlooking the beach and has sun-loungers and umbrellas available for guests.

The room we had was large and very nicely decorated in a classical style, with a balcony and view overlooking the beach below.

It is really a jewel with beautiful views of the beach and enchanting gardens through the property.

This is a beautifull Hotel, with a superb view over the bay.

The 4-star hotel is located at the end of the Scalea shore, and has one of the best view on the coast (including torre Talao).

The following morning I woke to a lovely view of the beach and sea.

Note if you use the fridge to store any drinks/ food you will be charged per day (a bizarre charge- why not just remove the fridges?).

We tried to pay with 4 different credit cards with no success.

A short and wonderful stay with a great friendly staff.

Amazing staff- so helpful and friendly always going above and beyond to help us.

Everything was as we expected: clean rooms and surroundings, beautiful interior design, friendly staff, cool pool, Etc.

The hotel is not huge, the staff is very friendly, everything is clean and neat.

Reception staff were friendly and helpful.The room was spacious and clean and quaintly olde world in decor.

Staff was very friendly, competent and professional able to provide advice about the local restaurants and sites to visit.

The hotel also have a private pool with bar and friendly atmosphere.

This was the only disappointing aspect of our stay - we really value being able to make ourselves a cup of tea in our room whenever we want to.

The only things that disappointed us was that the AC didn't get the room below probably 75, so it was pretty much non existent, the mini fridge had the same problem as the AC(wouldn't get cold), so it was basically a storage unit.

Breakfast a good spread - minor complaint about the fruit juice (cordial) served in light weight disposable cups and much of the fresh fruit had been spoilt with brown rot.

but we couldn’t use it due to the sheer number of mosquitoes around the pool.

Mosquito cream not required for staying in the hotel.

Don't forget the insect spray as the mosquitoes got me in the early evening.

There is a very nice pool, and the hotel has its own Lido on the beach where you can eat lunch and sunbath.

There is as well a swimming pool with a relaxing sitting area, terrace, bar and jacuzzi.

We were hosted at the hotel for a conference, I enjoyed a cozy and comfortable room with great view, great friendliness and helpfulness of the stuff, excellent food, excellent access to the swimming pool and beach.

The pool is wonderful, short walk to the beach and restaurants, breakfast included, and the staff were all lovely.

It sits above the sea and has a lovely garden pool with snack bar, as well as its own lido - where bookings include use of an umbrella and loungers each day.

It also has a lovely pool area, and is only a few minutes walk into the old town.

Good location, good pool, good rooms and top of that extremely nice customer service.

Enjoy the delights of the lido on the beach with its elegant cafe providing light lunches, drinks and snacks or relax by the hotel's shaded pool with aperitivo in hand.

Beach is very easy to reach, and the hotel has a swimming pool.

The furnishing and  size of the hotel, of the swimming pool, common areas and garden are perfect because  allow for some intimacy so that I liked the place both during my conference trip and during my holiday stay with my wife.

We are so delighted to be here, the coast is beautiful the people we've met are very open and friendly.

The hotel is perfectly situated by the beach and near town center with a superb pool and beach area.

Service was excellent as was the food provided during lunch at the beach café on the premises right by the deckchairs and umbrellas and especially so at dinner in the downstairs restaurant.

Overall the hotel was very good & there pool was great & they have a private beach & the sand was mixture of fine pebbles which is ok

The hotel is very good, in an handsome place, Scalea, very close to San Nicola Arcella and Arco Magno Beach.

We stayed in the Cottages which were situated between the hotel and the beach(2 doubles,1 triple and 1 single) which suited all our tastes.

Availed of hotel pool,beach & resteraunt June 23 / 26  great staff,service & best americano coffee in scalea.

But even if you drive along the coast it is much of the same
SUN & SAND!

Nothing is too much trouble everyone here is helpful and always with a friendly smile.
