The hotel is on the beach, has its own beach and guests have sun loungers and umbrellas at the hotel's price.

This hotel takes you back to the heyday of incredible hotels on beaches along this coast, the rooms are dressed as they were, and filled with antiques that are all usable, the reception upon arrival was amazing, so friendly and helpful and the pool, gardens and lido which is just 2 minutes walk away is perfect.

There is a fantastic pool, as well as the hotel beach which has wifi and a bar.

It is just 25 minutes walk form the railway station, and you reach the hotel beach in 1 minute, and  historical downtown with a nice 5 minutes walk.

The beach under the hotel was lovely and so convenient.

We stayed on both the second and third floors with a balcony and amazing views of the sea and along the coast to the old fort.

The location is perfect- overlooking the beach and has sun-loungers and umbrellas available for guests.

This is a beautifull Hotel, with a superb view over the bay.

The 4-star hotel is located at the end of the Scalea shore, and has one of the best view on the coast (including torre Talao).

The following morning I woke to a lovely view of the beach and sea.

Note if you use the fridge to store any drinks/ food you will be charged per day (a bizarre charge- why not just remove the fridges?).

We tried to pay with 4 different credit cards with no success.

This was the only disappointing aspect of our stay - we really value being able to make ourselves a cup of tea in our room whenever we want to.

The only things that disappointed us was that the AC didn't get the room below probably 75, so it was pretty much non existent, the mini fridge had the same problem as the AC(wouldn't get cold), so it was basically a storage unit.

Breakfast a good spread - minor complaint about the fruit juice (cordial) served in light weight disposable cups and much of the fresh fruit had been spoilt with brown rot.

but we couldn’t use it due to the sheer number of mosquitoes around the pool.

Mosquito cream not required for staying in the hotel.

Don't forget the insect spray as the mosquitoes got me in the early evening.

There is a very nice pool, and the hotel has its own Lido on the beach where you can eat lunch and sunbath.

There is as well a swimming pool with a relaxing sitting area, terrace, bar and jacuzzi.

We were hosted at the hotel for a conference, I enjoyed a cozy and comfortable room with great view, great friendliness and helpfulness of the stuff, excellent food, excellent access to the swimming pool and beach.

The pool is wonderful, short walk to the beach and restaurants, breakfast included, and the staff were all lovely.

Everything was as we expected: clean rooms and surroundings, beautiful interior design, friendly staff, cool pool, Etc.

It sits above the sea and has a lovely garden pool with snack bar, as well as its own lido - where bookings include use of an umbrella and loungers each day.

It also has a lovely pool area, and is only a few minutes walk into the old town.

The hotel also have a private pool with bar and friendly atmosphere.

Good location, good pool, good rooms and top of that extremely nice customer service.

Enjoy the delights of the lido on the beach with its elegant cafe providing light lunches, drinks and snacks or relax by the hotel's shaded pool with aperitivo in hand.

Beach is very easy to reach, and the hotel has a swimming pool.

The furnishing and  size of the hotel, of the swimming pool, common areas and garden are perfect because  allow for some intimacy so that I liked the place both during my conference trip and during my holiday stay with my wife.

Breakfast was poor - out of date items/ rubbery scrambled egg/ fruit bruised/ mouldy.

Wi-fi is slow - poor internet connection.

Clean rooms, air con and parking all go to make it a must visit.

Nice continental breakfast and very clean rooms that smell like cedar, the local citrus fruit.

The second part of hotel called : “ Village” was disaster: Elevator didnt work 4 days from our 8 days vacation , air-condition worked only 6 hour daily and the temperature was about 40 degrees outside.

Air conditioning worked all day long, cooled down the room as expected, no issues.

The air conditioning is controlled by the building & it shut's off at 4:00 am.

They nearly blew a gasket when we said we were only there for one night.

Lot of things don't work like the elevator, blowdryer and WiFi for example.

If you stay across the street, you get there underground through a tunnel with the worst elevators I have ever seen.

We had a room overlooking a busy road so the quality of a stay was sometimes disturbed by heavy lorries, loud motorcycles or ambulances.

Cons:  loud, loud, bad music all the time.

The majority of guests were quite noisy Italians, so If you look for a quiet place, Santa Caterina is  certainly not for you.

..a stone beach and a little to noisy room at nights (faced to a road direction).

However, the music played constantly at the beach, far too loudly, and there was an announcer who could not shut up.

but along a very busy road, could not sleep without earplugs!

The staff were all very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and everything was in a walkable distance.

The rooms were clean and taken care of each morning, we brought our own towels for the beach as the room towels were not as thick as they could be.

Our room had all facilities needed and was rather spacious and always clean - we enjoyed having a little balcony access for our evenings too. Breakfast was provided in a very homely fashion, with fresh crossaints from a local bakary and home made cake (which we dearly miss!)

Our room was spacious with access to a fridge, a balcony and common area.

There is a small balcony on the first floor where you can dry washing on a line with pegs supplied.

They guided us throughout the beautiful beaches, showed us around the city and helped us along every step of the way!

The room was charming and comfortable, and it was a short walk to the beach.

Best of all is the location - right in the centre near the shops and a 5 minute stroll from the beach   There’s a playground for children across the road.

Everything was close: the beach, the monastery, restaurants, a cash machine and, most of all for us, the Giro d’Italia started right in front!

Lots of cafes, restaurants & grocery shop nearby, as well as the beach.

It is close enough to the sea that you can walk to the beach and promenade.

On the final day, Gaetano and his family drove us to a nearby beach to see some rock formations and arches.

The beach is only a couple of blocks away with its long bike/recreational path and separate walking path.

Also, visit the Church in the grotto behind this B&B for a lovely sunset view of the beach and the paragliders doing there thing.

The B & B is well located in the center & a very short walk from the beach.

The location is close to the beach, stores, restaurants, and train station.

The B&B is centrally located, a few minutes walk to the beach which is great for a long stroll.

The location of the B&B is also very convenient, close to the super market and the beach.

Well located at 5 minutes walk from the beach,  with a grocery store next door and a bank and very good restaurants within 5 minutes walk.

Although Praia a mare might not be the busiest place, this bb is very nice, clean and wel located to see the beach and church

He even drove us to the beach area the next day for an hour boat ride (paddle boat) and then picked us up too.

Al Vecchio Pioppo is a bed and breakfast centrally located near the beach, shopping and restaurents in Praia A Mare.

Its proximity to the beach and other amenities make it so.

Since we weretravelling in the off season most restaurants and B & B's were closed.

The rooms were very tidy, clean and immersive.

We stayed in the blue room which was clean and - like the other rooms- big enough for two people.

We were warmly welcomed and the room was clean, alas, that’s where the good news ended.

In addition to great service, we had spacious and spotless rooms, a very nice breakfast, and a central location.

Our hosts Gaetano and Antonella were phenomenal throughout our stay!

The hosts could not have done more for us both before and during our four night stay.

Our host took care of everything, including broad, tasty breakfast and a lot of great tips for sightseeing and how to explore the region of Praia a Mare.

Gaetano e Antonella are the best hosts in the world, they do everything for you to be at home, the rooms are beautiful and so comfortable.

They were warm and gracious hosts, providing us with a delicious breakfast, lively conversation and timely local insights each morning.

The host, Gaetano and his wife were helpful and available.

Gaetano, is a great host and he provided great tips and lovely breakfasts with delicious coffee.

The accommodations are superb and the host and hostess are delightful people.

We were met by the friendly Gaetano at the train station and taken for an espresso by our host.

My family and I stayed at Al Vecchio Pioppo on Sept.1st, we were greeted by our host Gaetano; Gaetano was very helpful in offering to take us around Dino island, provided information on must see places in Calabria, we were also invited to his home to an excellent dinner prepared by his charming and talented wife Antonella: Best dinner we had during our vacation!

You could not ask for more charming hosts.

The hosts Gaetano and Antonia are great and will gladly drive you around for visiting or on their boat for a very acceptable price.

The place its fantastic and the hospitality even more Antonella & Gaetano are great hosts and have this genuine hospitality that only southern ppl can propose.

Its owners Gaetano and Antonella are equally gracious hosts, preparing traditional Calabrian gastronomical offerings at the request of the guests.

Antonella and Gaetano are great hosts who took care perfectly for us.

Gaetanoand his family were brilliant hosts who helped with everything from car rental, where the best beaches were, local food festivals and restaurants in the mountains.

Gaetano and Antonella proved to be marvellous hosts.

In the course of our stay we discovered that our hosts were going the extra mile with just about everything.

As someone suggested before, the only downside is the lack of internet access,

The only negative was a lack of internet access which in today's world is basic in any hotel or B&B.

The only complaint is that I also pre-paid for drinks.

Trying to get a drink at the bar that evening was a bit of a joke.

they told us that the card was not mandatory buuuuut no body told us that without it we would not be able to get any kind of drink ( from water to negroni ) the place is really big

Soft drinks and beer served in tiny plastic cups (0,2 dcl only).

So had to make do with the beer and soft drinks, which were served in tiny disposable plastic cups (the kind used at children's parties!).

All inclusive drinks were served in water cooler cups which is a poor and stingey touch.

Back at the bar, we ordered a beer and a g&t, honestly, I felt ripped off, barely a half pint worth of beer served in a plastic cup cost me EUR 3:50!

), chaos in restaurant especially in evening, drinks only served in plastic 15cl cups, poor choice of food (especially breakfast), very noisy rooms.

In most cases they offer you plastic cutlery - yes, I`m not joking - plastic cutlery at a four star hotel restaurant!!!

Terrible service, poor quality of food, air conditioning not fresh enough the room was still hot, no room service, no wi-fii, no phone in room, everyone was smoking in the resort, 
just a very unplesant experience.

Aside from the fish and the peach, the food was poor and definitely not worth EUR 30 each.

well it wasn't, we had to pay for the lunch the pool area and the service/ information was/ is really poor .

The pool was more quiet and the animation was really poor.

The same is for the snack bar, really poor menu.

.although I think I was just so hungry from my poor meals the evening before!

Booked the hotel through Expedia and immediately on check in was given poor service.

Very expensive, they charged 350 euro per night what a joke!!! !

Our greeting at reception was underwhelming and the attempt get us to pay again for the accommodation wasn't appreciated

On the other hand the rest of the staff wasn't very friendly (except pool bar), tables were not cleaned at breakfast, they don't provide towels for pool, you can only pay by cash in the hotel.

however having paid quite a bit for our stay I just didn't feel like it was money well spent .

This was not mentioned by Expedia and the receptionist would not let me check in until it was paid, so I was forced into a corner.

The home is beautiful, perched upon a hill with a view of the sea just beyond the pool.

Breakfast  next to the pool was lovely with freshly made pastries, juice, coffee, option of eggs and bacon always offered.

Sometimes we even skipped on trips and enjoyd relaxed atmosphere of a pool area, with a beautiful see view.

Vittorio greeted us with a cold beer by the pool upon arrival.

We just sat by the pool overlooking the sea and ordered some pizza.

The pool was perfect after a long day’s drive!

Pool was perfectly clean, We can only recommend staying there.

We were even given towels for the swimming pool.

Excellent service and a beautiful house, pool, view and very good breakfast.

The property has lovely gardens, a swimming pool, and a garage!

Clean rooms, great extensive breakfast, stunning sea view and cool pool with jacuzzi.

There is a pristine in-ground pool within the garden as well.

It’s a peaceful and relaxing place to stay.

And again, it was one week of a so relaxing time.

We wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the wonderful breakfast and peaceful surroundings.

This place is absolutely great for relaxing holiday.

The room was immaculate, the bathroom was ultra modern with colour changing ceiling lights.

The area is quiet and the view idillic.The hosts are some of the most generous you will find.

Love absolutely everything - the room, pool, view.

Spotlessly clean and very comfortable too with a great view of the sea and sunset.

Free parking on site and a great balcony with stunning sea views.

Cannot recommend Vittorio and La Suite Del Faro enough, the view overlooking the ocean is spectacular.

Top tip - the hotel faces due-west, so check what time sunrise is!

The suite with a panoramic terrace is just gorgeous, it has a large salon, terrace and the best possible view over Scalea and the sea.

It was a wonderful place to relax with a beautiful view of the coast.

The amazing view, atmosphere, energy,, We (2 adults and one child) stayed 9 days in July 2018 there and definately will come back again.

This is a beautiful property with a great view from the swimming pool.

La Suite Del Faro is actually a luxury villa perched on a hillside with an expansive view of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
