Great B&B, gaetano and his family where amazing.Great breakfast,beds where comfortable, walking distance to the beach.

Our room had all facilities needed and was rather spacious and always clean - we enjoyed having a little balcony access for our evenings too. Breakfast was provided in a very homely fashion, with fresh crossaints from a local bakary and home made cake (which we dearly miss!)

Our host took care of everything, including broad, tasty breakfast and a lot of great tips for sightseeing and how to explore the region of Praia a Mare.

but the owners, Gaetano & Antonella, opened it especially for me and I found a cool & warm place to stay, nice atmosphere, well clean, good breakfast and nice moment.

A beautiful location and a nice place, all comfort available and big breakfast.

Gaetano, is a great host and he provided great tips and lovely breakfasts with delicious coffee.

Gaetano and his wife made breakfast for us each morning, and made sure there was nothing we needed.

Breakfast is great - coffee, yoghurt, fruit, and Italian sweet rolls, even some home made.

Gaetano Calabrese, the owner, said he did and we waited for him to escort us to his bed and breakfast.

The BnB rooms were large and very comfortable, breakfast was also very good; Our hosts were very attentive to our needs and made us feel like family.

FYI: Breakfast is included in the price, and during peak seasons he told us that he takes guests out on his boat!

Al Vecchio Pioppo is a bed and breakfast centrally located near the beach, shopping and restaurents in Praia A Mare.

Breakfast is Italian as you would expect in Italy and the coffee is delicious.

Since we weretravelling in the off season most restaurants and B & B's were closed.

As someone suggested before, the only downside is the lack of internet access,

The only negative was a lack of internet access which in today's world is basic in any hotel or B&B.

I would eat elsewhere for breakfast unless it’s included free if your price - the tea/coffee was ok.

The hotel has a restaurant for breakfast and lunch,

The hotel offers the breakfast and dinner with a great choice of food.

The pool is wonderful, short walk to the beach and restaurants, breakfast included, and the staff were all lovely.

but we'll worth it if you calculate the cost of breakfast parking and Lido fees.

A buffet breakfast was served every morning from 7:30 to 10:00.

Note if you use the fridge to store any drinks/ food you will be charged per day (a bizarre charge- why not just remove the fridges?).

We tried to pay with 4 different credit cards with no success.

This was the only disappointing aspect of our stay - we really value being able to make ourselves a cup of tea in our room whenever we want to.

The only things that disappointed us was that the AC didn't get the room below probably 75, so it was pretty much non existent, the mini fridge had the same problem as the AC(wouldn't get cold), so it was basically a storage unit.

Breakfast a good spread - minor complaint about the fruit juice (cordial) served in light weight disposable cups and much of the fresh fruit had been spoilt with brown rot.

but we couldn’t use it due to the sheer number of mosquitoes around the pool.

Don't forget the insect spray as the mosquitoes got me in the early evening.

Breakfast was poor - out of date items/ rubbery scrambled egg/ fruit bruised/ mouldy.

Wi-fi is slow - poor internet connection.

It’s raining today, the birds are singing and breakfast made by Valeria was delicious, including homemade pastries.

A real home from home feeling of welcome from the start and even an early morning breakfast box for the journey home!

Breakfast  next to the pool was lovely with freshly made pastries, juice, coffee, option of eggs and bacon always offered.

The breakfast - you could choose an american one, with eggs, cheese, prosciutto etc, which is quite rare for Italy - is great, there is also complimentary water, wine and beer in the fridge.

Breakfasts are rich, there is a lor of choice of fresh fruits, homemade cakes etc.

We wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the wonderful breakfast and peaceful surroundings.

Superb breakfast and coffee too, with fresh pressed juice.

Vittorio (owner of the property) and the rest of the crew cared about us so well and obviously with pleasure,  We loved breakfasts  - a lot of fresh food, fruits,  smoothies, home made cakes..

The room was a good size and very comfortable and we were served a very good breakfast.

For breakfast the following morning, Vittorio offered to make bacon and eggs (!

Clean rooms, great extensive breakfast, stunning sea view and cool pool with jacuzzi.

The breakfast tables are poolside, so you can enjoy the sun and sea air.

Although the pool was empty ( a bit to early for the season) the owner was preparing it to a high standard.

The meals were excellent, and compliments to the chef and his team, we looked forward to all the meals, with an excellent selection at breakfast, wonderful selections of traditional Calabrian food at both lunch and dinner.

The second part of hotel called : “ Village” was disaster: Elevator didnt work 4 days from our 8 days vacation , air-condition worked only 6 hour daily and the temperature was about 40 degrees outside.

Lot of things don't work like the elevator, blowdryer and WiFi for example.

If you stay across the street, you get there underground through a tunnel with the worst elevators I have ever seen.

We had a room overlooking a busy road so the quality of a stay was sometimes disturbed by heavy lorries, loud motorcycles or ambulances.

Cons:  loud, loud, bad music all the time.

The majority of guests were quite noisy Italians, so If you look for a quiet place, Santa Caterina is  certainly not for you.

..a stone beach and a little to noisy room at nights (faced to a road direction).

However, the music played constantly at the beach, far too loudly, and there was an announcer who could not shut up.

but along a very busy road, could not sleep without earplugs!

but it is best to place your order in the morning at the most generous breakfast buffet.

Our main dishes were a delicious octopus and bean soup and a wonderful, lightly battered fritto misto di mare which could put tempura to shame.

This is a great hotel; clean, comfortable and quiet with an outstanding breakfast which was included.

Breakfast was included in the price and was quite substantial.

Breakfast is certainly more than "basic Italian".

It's a tiny, quaint city, with cobblestones and delicious gelato.

The food was delicious and the portions just right.

If you are an avid tea/coffee drinker then take a travel kettle and some tea bags as these were not provided in our room; I think this is usual practice for southern Italy.

The rooms were not at all soundproof as we could hear everything from the room above and next to ours (toilet flush, discussion, doors slamming, throat scratching…).

Next morning, there was still no WiFi in my room.

but the tiny room had paraphernalia for wheel chair users.

On our early arrival the room we wanted was not cleaned yet.

After I insisted, she called the web company and they verified that I had already paid for my room.

Tasty breakfast on veranda with beautifull views.

Breakfast included – croissants, fruit – served on the terrace overlooking the sea.

Breakfasts were bountiful, delicious and included seasonal fruits.

Upstairs, there is a large terrace for lounging and breakfast.

The view from the room and breakfast terrace is absolutely mesmerizing.

Excellent breakfasts are served each morning on the veranda.

The breakfast formula was a nice surprise.

Our hostess was there every morning with warm dolce including home baked goodies for breakfast and made some of the best café e coffee e cappuccino!

Another note: make sure you know how to use the key to the main door.

The only challenging aspect of our visit was parking, which, given the location of the villa, would have been easier had we a smaller vehicle.

Our evaluation of the room, view, and service would be a 4.5 were it not for the very difficult parking experience.

The breakfast was the best we have had at any point in Italy, especilly because we could have as many coffee as we liked, and they all came in a good quality (very important in my eyes).

The breakfast area was large & the food was good.

Breakfast next day was very nice too, and the most excellent Ada even gave me a lift to the train station.

We were half board which consisted of a continental breakfast and a four course Calabrian lunch complete with half a litre of house wine per person which was so filling that we did not eat much later and saved us a few Euros.

It has an unheated swimming pool, and the breakfast there is fine.

The breakfast was good, rooms clean and we had one with a view of the Med.

Breakfast was good, the outside swimming pool was great, cleaning standards were exceptional, plus the hotel was being refurbished, so I cannot wait to come back next year and see the progress.

So - stunning venue, grand bridal suite and the wedding cake was delicious,

The breakfast was truly nice, served at the ancient dining area.

We were cooked a delicious Calabrian meal, had fresh pastries each morning ( a family event) in addition to many other choices.

He provided an amazing breakfast with lots of choice in the big hall the next morning.

We had comfortable beds, lots of room to lounge and wonderful breakfasts.

Breakfast was very good and location of the property is astonished.

The castle only has 8 rooms so most guests have to stay elsewhere.

but be prepared for faint background music.
