The food from the kitchen was absolutely delicious too.

Juan at the bar was a great host, answered questions, practiced Spanish with me, and made delicious drinks.

We used it as a home base for trips into Tayrona, and then would come back to friendly service, yummy food, a great pool, and super nice staff!

Facilities are clean, staff is accommodating especially with my unexpected extensions lol, bar specials for happy hours were awesome, and the kitchen made really delicious food!

The staff were very friendly and the hostel even had its own restaurant with delicious food.

great buffet breakfast, plenty of vegetarian stuff, also had a great veggie burger for dinner and on the first night they put on a BBQ and gave me two different plates of amazing veggie food.

Some hostels do free breakfast and some charge, most free breakfasts are on a table, tend not to be amazing

About £12 a night, breakfast isn’t included.

They add 11.000$ to your bill for breakfast despite it seeming like it’s included in the already high price.

but honestly everything you need is at the Dreamer - breakfast $11,000 pesos and free coffee all day.

but the buffet breakfast looked really good.

A little bit of paradise in Santa Marta - fantastic aircon in our room, relaxed vibe around the pool, delicious and very reasonably priced in house restaurant, and funny/super nice staff.

The breakfast is amazing and staff is the nicest ever.

The kitchen was really good there, the breakfast was good and plentiful and the coffee which you can have all day is great.

There is a pool, a breakfast buffet (not included in the price of the room though), a kitchen with fridge where you can store your stuff, a bar and a restaurant.

It's also conveniently located within walking distance of Buenavista Commercial Center, right next to the bus to Tayrona/Palomino (or easy to hop in a taxi and get right on the highway).

The hostel is out of the center of town, which is actually a good thing. Why?

Location wise it’s not close to the city Center, so people seem to hang around the hostel more which is fair enough.

It is a little bit outside of the centre,

People at the reception are very nice, swimming pool is right in the centre and quite big so ideal to relax.

There is also a huge shopping centre about a 5 minute walk away so if you want to buy food and cook you can.

It is around 20 minutes from the city centre,

The whole hostel was designed around it as a center and it was really easy to get in touch with people through that.

but very cheap taxi ride organised by hostel, had large shopping centre within 2 min walk through a safe neighbourhood with several ATMs and supermarket.

I'd highly recommend this place if you want to socialise, and plan to spend your days out on tours and treks.

It seemed like most people who stayed they did all their tours through the hostel, which--like their potable water-- was way more expensive than booking through elsewhere.

The reception advised on what you could do during the stay and they will organise the tours for you so it's really easy.

Although the location is far out of town it's a good location if you want to do tours like the lost city, taganga or minca.

The staff are amazing and always available to assist in organising treks and tours.

Staff so friendly and helpful, good food all day in the bar/restaurant for a decent price, tours and shuttles organised, big well equipped kitchen.

Most tours & many buses stopped at hostel for pickup meaning no need go to bus station.

Slightly out of town which means on direct local bus route for Tayrona Park.

So make the effort to take buses into town and the coffee and waterfall tour is a good activity for the day.

They were so kind to me offering water coffee etc and said that they could call a taxi for me.

When we were there the power went down and we spent a whole day without water or electricity.

The only downside to the facilities was that the showers are very cold and water pressure is poor.

If their intentions were really about the environment they should charge cost price for water.

Half the shower door was missing so water goes everywhere making the bathroom slippery and dangerous.

To add is that the restaurant is over priced, they sell water for a very high price in the whole hostel and the WIFI never works

They ran out of water on my 3rd day there and after getting back from snorkeling I had to wait like 2 hours to take a shower bc they had to wait for the water to be delivered; 2.

We had a few issues with water in the showers

but no freezer, which stunk bc I wanted to freeze 2 large bottles of water for our trek into Tayrona.

There was nothing wrong with our room, the staff were excellent and sorted out the problem of having no water promptly.

Only areas for improvement - wi-fi was patchy and they really should get a water filter for people to refill bottles.

Didn't seem to be hot water so keep that in mind.

When I was there in Feb, there was no communal filtered water place.

but there is no hot water at anytime of the day.

although the cold water combats humidity, it would be good to have more showers as there was a bottleneck of people waiting for the showers in the morning.

for example, the shower is just a cold water hose, there is no TV room and the location is not super central.

Instead of seeing many places, we only went to one, our 'guide' only answered direct questions in Spanish and told us nothing of what we were seeing, I ate the same meal four meals in a row, and they started charging us for water.

We opted for the apple desert and it was decadent.

The food is delicious if you want a change from typical Colombian.

A wonderful hostel to book after returning back from 4 sweat-soaked days of trekking the Ciudad Perdida Trails.

There's a nice swimming pool in the patio, great atmosphere and friendly and helpful personnel, delicious food and drinks and the bar is really cosy.

Whether you want to come for a place to stay so you can go to the park or a relaxing vacation by the pool this is the place.

The only problem was that both of the mornings we stayed there we were awoken at 6 o clock by very very loud music being played by neighbors - was impossible to sleep while it played.

though was when our travel adapter was misplaced and Lucy sent the adapter in a taxi to us at our next hostel in Santa Marta.

Definitely the place to stay in Taganga, if not the Santa Marta area.

1500 pesos on public bus from Santa Marta, extremely easy to do, otherwise 10000-15000 in taxi.

You can ask her anything: a cab is easily and quickly arranged, same for tours to Tayrona Park.

As tour leader for a (young) group of 12 this was pleasant suprise!

We were really impressed with the friendly and welcoming staff, the fantastic food and the help with organising tours etc, which made the whole stay very easy to organise.

The hostel is three blocks back from the front and one is given a map of the "safe route"  to the hostel at night.

Staff will advise which roads to walk back during the evenings, they have 'guardians' along the route to keep an eye on travellers.

The staff can organize excursions and there is a tour guide company on the premises to set you up with many different options for trips.

Our room came with breakfast included which was very good, we also had lunch one of the days and it was also very good, great cook!

I also arranged a private dinner, which was set on the third top floor under their mezzanine, it was truly amazing the privacy, music and delicious dinner.

Excellent staff and extremely delicious breakfast!

This spotless hotel with its lovely courtyard filled with sparkling pools provides the guests with courteous and attentive service, attractive, comfortable rooms, and a delicious,gourmet breakfast.

My breakfast was included and wow, impressive!

The hotel staff stayed til the bitter end and then were back in the morning for breakfast with smiles. Amazing!!

I came for a delicious breakfast, sat around with friends as they came and went, and then had a tasty lunch with another group of family or friends.

Some positive aspects are: 
-the exceptional breakfast, 
-the good quality of the restaurant
-the good quality of the staff, 
-the fresh flowers in the room,
-a clean place,
-the general aspect of the place.

We took full advantage of the pools (including the "cool tubs" and the in house restaurant for breakfast and several dinners.

Lovely hotel, great location, breakfast good, would return again.

The food at the restaurant is absolutely delicious -- some of the best we had in Colombia.

We unfortunately had to eat at the hotel as we arrived after dark, there was flooding in the streets, and there were no taxis to be found.

The neighborhood surrounding it is not quit conducive to walking alone at night and parts are dark.

Unfortunately not the best of neighbourhood as major renovations next door and very sketchy once it gets dark.

however I was warned that I should take a taxi EVERYWHERE after 6pm when it gets dark.

Too Small window aswell in this room, room pretty dark.

There is No elevator, this is the only thing i can think of that was bad.

The only downside is that there is no elevator,

No elevators and stairs at front so not luggage friendly.

My only complaint is that the neighborhood was sketchy.

Santa Marta is a 400 plus old city, a historical city that is falling to pieces , streets with dangerous holes , old buildings that that are left to deteriorate instead to be treated as historical jewels, over crowded streets with imported cheap goods.

Only the neighbourhood is not a very pleasant one, Santa Marta itself does not have any point of interest and overall it is not a safe place to be at night

Neighborhood did felt a bit dicey when we went for a late night walk the first night.

The area outside the hotel is a little sketchy with people sleeping on the sidewalk.

Location can look a bit sketchy and I definitely wouldn't walk alone at night,

He was talking to me, saying he wasn't dangerous, and it was very uncomfortable.

The hotel itself was very clean and the rooms were extremely spacious.

The staff is helpful and friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable with great views, and the amenities work well and are not too busy.

Can’t say enough good things about this charming boutique hotel, the wonderful atmosphere, helpful staff, delicious food, super location, lovely swimming pools, clean rooms and unique design of the hotel.

Room is clean, modern and romantic, it had great air con system and we had hammocks, balcony, games and loungers around us.

The architecture is lovely, the rooms clean and luxurious, and the two pools were adored by our kids (3 and 5 year olds) - in fact they're still going on about how nice it was.

Hotel Boutique Casa Carolina is a very nice hotel located just a few blocks from the nice part of Santa Marta.

We will stay there when we visit Santa Marta again in the future.

We found Ciudad Historica, Santa Marta absolutely beautiful and exotic with culture food and its people, we definitely recommend it to those people who seek adventure and understand that travel brings beautiful experiences.

I found this a good deal for Santa Marta.

We didn't feel secure walking the streets of Santa Marta so honestly we spent most of our time at the  hotel - which wasn't a bad thing since it's so nice.
