Our room came with breakfast included which was very good, we also had lunch one of the days and it was also very good, great cook!

I also arranged a private dinner, which was set on the third top floor under their mezzanine, it was truly amazing the privacy, music and delicious dinner.

This spotless hotel with its lovely courtyard filled with sparkling pools provides the guests with courteous and attentive service, attractive, comfortable rooms, and a delicious,gourmet breakfast.

The hotel staff stayed til the bitter end and then were back in the morning for breakfast with smiles. Amazing!!

I came for a delicious breakfast, sat around with friends as they came and went, and then had a tasty lunch with another group of family or friends.

Some positive aspects are: 
-the exceptional breakfast, 
-the good quality of the restaurant
-the good quality of the staff, 
-the fresh flowers in the room,
-a clean place,
-the general aspect of the place.

We took full advantage of the pools (including the "cool tubs" and the in house restaurant for breakfast and several dinners.

Lovely hotel, great location, breakfast good, would return again.

The food at the restaurant is absolutely delicious -- some of the best we had in Colombia.

We unfortunately had to eat at the hotel as we arrived after dark, there was flooding in the streets, and there were no taxis to be found.

The neighborhood surrounding it is not quit conducive to walking alone at night and parts are dark.

Unfortunately not the best of neighbourhood as major renovations next door and very sketchy once it gets dark.

however I was warned that I should take a taxi EVERYWHERE after 6pm when it gets dark.

Too Small window aswell in this room, room pretty dark.

There is No elevator, this is the only thing i can think of that was bad.

The only downside is that there is no elevator,

No elevators and stairs at front so not luggage friendly.

My only complaint is that the neighborhood was sketchy.

Santa Marta is a 400 plus old city, a historical city that is falling to pieces , streets with dangerous holes , old buildings that that are left to deteriorate instead to be treated as historical jewels, over crowded streets with imported cheap goods.

Only the neighbourhood is not a very pleasant one, Santa Marta itself does not have any point of interest and overall it is not a safe place to be at night

Neighborhood did felt a bit dicey when we went for a late night walk the first night.

The area outside the hotel is a little sketchy with people sleeping on the sidewalk.

Location can look a bit sketchy and I definitely wouldn't walk alone at night,

He was talking to me, saying he wasn't dangerous, and it was very uncomfortable.

Hotel Boutique Casa Carolina is a very nice hotel located just a few blocks from the nice part of Santa Marta.

We will stay there when we visit Santa Marta again in the future.

We found Ciudad Historica, Santa Marta absolutely beautiful and exotic with culture food and its people, we definitely recommend it to those people who seek adventure and understand that travel brings beautiful experiences.

I found this a good deal for Santa Marta.

I would stay here again next time in Santa Marta.

I couldn’t imagine finding a better place to stay in Santa Marta.

It is the most incredibly boutique hotel in the heart of Santa Marta near the best restaurants with the most incredibly staff.

The hotel is really near to the beach and the historic center of Santa Marta, I would definitely recommend this place!

We didn't feel secure walking the streets of Santa Marta so honestly we spent most of our time at the  hotel - which wasn't a bad thing since it's so nice.

but beautiful spot tucked into frenzied and fun Santa Marta.

The hotel was lovely and located conveniently in the Santa Marta old town.

We love it so much that we will be back to Santa Marta and will stay at Hotel Boutique Casa Carolina in the coming year 2020.

Excellent place to stay in the center of Santa Marta.

They will arrange a beach tour as well if you want one.

In some occasions, I was looking for a good tour which could take me to Playa Cristal or other beaches of Tayrona, and they offered me help by asking their tour operator colleagues to reserve my spot.

We honestly can't say we loved the tours around Santa Marta (we took the hotel boat tour to La Tayrona - beautful

Easy to get to everywhere and loads of tours and stuff to do.

Super Hotel to relax and get power to make some tours in the region around Santa Marta.

We wanted to take their Somoa boat tour to beaches in Parque Tayrona,

Wish we had stayed longer, as so much to do in the town and with organised tours across Tayrona national park collecting you from outside the hotel you will stay busy; notwithstanding the allure of the courtyard pool and bar!

We stayed at alot of great hotels on our Colombian tour

They were all so helpful including organizing tours, suggesting amazing restaurants and letting us know of streets to stay away from (for safety at night).

We also did the Hotel's Samoa VIP tour and i recommend it, definitely an awesome experience.

While the staff was friendly it is obvious they are pushing a few day tours.

Don’t miss the Samoa boat tour offered by the hotel!

The very helpful staff at the reception desk (Jeyner, Jose, Alex and another guy I can‘t remember the name) organized our trip to Minca and a private boat tour to the national park Tayrona as well as our bus transfer to Cartagena.

The staff are friendly and offer valuable information on restaurants, tours, etc.

If you take a trip to theTayrona National Park, we suggest hiring Carlos for the day, take the directed route on the way to the beaches and return on the mule track, ( you really get a feel of 'Jungle') .

They were able to get me on the tour and everything worked out.

Their top-notch team also arranged our boat tour to Tayrona National Park, which is highly recommended.

Special shout out to Carlos for being a lovely and flexible tour guide to us on two big excursions.

The Samoa boat tour was fantastic, one of the beaches we visited was completely empty.

We had a very bad surprise when arriving at this awful little spot.

His line when I arrived was "You arrive a customer and you leave a friend".

We walked around Taganga for a while checking out hostels and we opted for Villa Mary after looking at a few others.

They provided an amazing breakfast every morning with fresh fruit, eggs, juice and coffee.

The feeling in the hostel is like home, mary and the staff take care of everything you need and of course the breakfast is excellent and rich.

I was so many days in taganga that the owner replaced the breakfast for me a few times so I would not be bored, and the staff of the hostel were really cute and helped me with everything I needed.

The hostel had one of the best free breakfasts we have had in a long time - toast, eggs made to order, fruit, fresh juice and coffee and it was always ready in time for us to get an early start at the dive centre.

They cook you a homemade breakfast every morning.

Breakfast is very good, the place designed beautifully and the rooms are clean and comfortable.

In addition, the place has wonderful breakfast and WI-FI, all of which, are a rare sight in Taganga!! I was taking a diving-course and the hostel works perfectly for that matter as it's merely a 2 minute walk to the diving centers and their boats

The breakfast was amazing (had to wait 2 months to have a similar breakfast in Peru).

The breakfast in the morning was really nice and the owner is also so kind.

The breakfast was very fresh and included with the accommodation.

The breakfast he prepares each morning was among my favorites in South America!

The owner and staff are awesome, the best free hostel breakfast around, the chill area is great and you can even watch a movie on projector if that is your thing.

The hostel offers a great free breakfast of tea/coffee eggs, toast and fruit.

This is not a party hostel, which is perfect for those who want to sleep somewhere quiet away from the vallenato music which gets blasted near the center at night on the weekends.

I asked for a dive centre recommendation as there are SO MANY in Taganga, and David recommended Reef Shepherd - I dived with them twice and they were brilliant.

We felt completely safe and much better than in the main town santa marta.

We were looking for a chill hostel (trying to avoid a party hostel after too much fun in Santa Marta), in order to have a more relaxed experience.

I definitely recommend staying in Taganga rather than Santa Marta which isn't very nice compared to the attractive fishing village of Taganga.

David (the owner) is absolutely brilliant for advice re travelling in the local area - such as transport to Park Tayrona, Santa Marta and Cartagena.

Taganga in general is a way better place to stay than busy, hot Santa Marta.

They do not mark up the items that they sell (water, beer, coke.)

I returned to take a 3 day open water diver certification class in Taganga and stayed here for 4 days with the same treatment.

Be aware - this town has no running water so everywhere has to spend a lot of money on it.

The owner stresses the importance of using little water in his establishment and only use it when necessary

I ended up staying here for 6 nights while I was getting my open water certification in Taganga.

My girlfriend and I were staying in a different hostel that was very hot at night, lacked in customer service, and eventually had no running water.

And you can buy water there, so you don't have to go to the next supermarket.

We used it as a home base for trips into Tayrona, and then would come back to friendly service, yummy food, a great pool, and super nice staff!

Facilities are clean, staff is accommodating especially with my unexpected extensions lol, bar specials for happy hours were awesome, and the kitchen made really delicious food!

The staff were very friendly and the hostel even had its own restaurant with delicious food.

great buffet breakfast, plenty of vegetarian stuff, also had a great veggie burger for dinner and on the first night they put on a BBQ and gave me two different plates of amazing veggie food.

Some hostels do free breakfast and some charge, most free breakfasts are on a table, tend not to be amazing

About £12 a night, breakfast isn’t included.

They add 11.000$ to your bill for breakfast despite it seeming like it’s included in the already high price.

but honestly everything you need is at the Dreamer - breakfast $11,000 pesos and free coffee all day.

but the buffet breakfast looked really good.

A little bit of paradise in Santa Marta - fantastic aircon in our room, relaxed vibe around the pool, delicious and very reasonably priced in house restaurant, and funny/super nice staff.

The breakfast is amazing and staff is the nicest ever.

The kitchen was really good there, the breakfast was good and plentiful and the coffee which you can have all day is great.

There is a pool, a breakfast buffet (not included in the price of the room though), a kitchen with fridge where you can store your stuff, a bar and a restaurant.

It's also conveniently located within walking distance of Buenavista Commercial Center, right next to the bus to Tayrona/Palomino (or easy to hop in a taxi and get right on the highway).

Very friendly staff and open-concept hostel with a lovely pool in the center.

The hostel is out of the center of town, which is actually a good thing. Why?

Location wise it’s not close to the city Center, so people seem to hang around the hostel more which is fair enough.

It is a little bit outside of the centre,

It is a little further out of the city center (about 8.000 COP),

People at the reception are very nice, swimming pool is right in the centre and quite big so ideal to relax.

There is also a huge shopping centre about a 5 minute walk away so if you want to buy food and cook you can.

It is around 20 minutes from the city centre,

The whole hostel was designed around it as a center and it was really easy to get in touch with people through that.

but very cheap taxi ride organised by hostel, had large shopping centre within 2 min walk through a safe neighbourhood with several ATMs and supermarket.

The hostel is located outside the centre of the city

Big bonus is the pool which is good centre point for socialising.

There are ATM's, supermarket and shopping centre nearby.

Nice hostel far away from center town where you have to take a taxi.

The pool was a highlight and was in the center of the courtyard.

The pool is the center of attention during the day and moves to the bar at night.

While not in the centre of town: it's big, well equipped, organises great tours, has a bar with decent prices and a nice pool.

There is a big shopping centre across the road which makes it easy to get supplies, banking etc.

The hostel is positioned perfectly on the route to Palomino as well!

Good location for doing the popular tours nearby i.e.

Staff were really helpful in providing information on tours and organizing shuttles for us.

They give you info about the activities around and booked 2 tours for me (via mail).

Reception very helpful and organized tours and trips no bother except for a kayaking trip where they said we couldn’t go with out giving a reason.

I'd highly recommend this place if you want to socialise, and plan to spend your days out on tours and treks.

Nice place to stay as a "base camp" for tours.

Really good place to stay if you want to go on tours to the surrounding areas

It seemed like most people who stayed they did all their tours through the hostel, which--like their potable water-- was way more expensive than booking through elsewhere.

The reception advised on what you could do during the stay and they will organise the tours for you so it's really easy.

Although the location is far out of town it's a good location if you want to do tours like the lost city, taganga or minca.

The staff are amazing and always available to assist in organising treks and tours.

Staff so friendly and helpful, good food all day in the bar/restaurant for a decent price, tours and shuttles organised, big well equipped kitchen.

Most tours & many buses stopped at hostel for pickup meaning no need go to bus station.

Slightly out of town which means on direct local bus route for Tayrona Park.

So make the effort to take buses into town and the coffee and waterfall tour is a good activity for the day.

They were so kind to me offering water coffee etc and said that they could call a taxi for me.

When we were there the power went down and we spent a whole day without water or electricity.

The only downside to the facilities was that the showers are very cold and water pressure is poor.

If their intentions were really about the environment they should charge cost price for water.

Half the shower door was missing so water goes everywhere making the bathroom slippery and dangerous.

To add is that the restaurant is over priced, they sell water for a very high price in the whole hostel and the WIFI never works

They ran out of water on my 3rd day there and after getting back from snorkeling I had to wait like 2 hours to take a shower bc they had to wait for the water to be delivered; 2.

We had a few issues with water in the showers

but no freezer, which stunk bc I wanted to freeze 2 large bottles of water for our trek into Tayrona.

There was nothing wrong with our room, the staff were excellent and sorted out the problem of having no water promptly.

Only areas for improvement - wi-fi was patchy and they really should get a water filter for people to refill bottles.

Didn't seem to be hot water so keep that in mind.

When I was there in Feb, there was no communal filtered water place.

but there is no hot water at anytime of the day.

although the cold water combats humidity, it would be good to have more showers as there was a bottleneck of people waiting for the showers in the morning.

for example, the shower is just a cold water hose, there is no TV room and the location is not super central.

Instead of seeing many places, we only went to one, our 'guide' only answered direct questions in Spanish and told us nothing of what we were seeing, I ate the same meal four meals in a row, and they started charging us for water.

Our last night they cooked for us a delicious spectacular lobster at the restaurant at the beach completely recommended.

You have many options to choose from, nice pools, delicious restaurants.

Be careful when you book with Irotama Torres because it is a shared hotel and it’s amenities of pools, buffet and bar service is at the main hotel- Irotama Resort in which you have to take a golf cart to get there.

A stunning deal .

Service, in general, is an area for improvement, with the exception of three star servers who were consistently attentive and warm, going above and beyond to cater for our needs - Kellys and Rita at the new pool bar, and Mary at the breakfast buffet.

The buffet its very clean and a lot of food variety.

Breakfast at Cocos was impressive with a wide range of hot and cold dishes- it was buffet-style

But here is my BIG complain:
