Just got back 2 days ago from a most fantastic week at the Nastro with my husband :)

Spotlessly clean, fantastic location, friendly staff that bent over backwards to help and serve you!

The hotel has a real authentic charm and the grounds are kept beautiful, staff were friendly and we couldn’t praise the bar staff more!

Staff we lovely and friendly, even the mersiable ones I think on put it on for effect.

The staff are lovely, so friendly and welcoming and work very hard to ensure you have a good holiday.

Her young colleagues, Marina & Evan on the entertainment team also friendly & enthusiastic

All staff very friendly and helpful, particularly in the restaurant as my partner had an allergy and Vincenzo went through each dish he could have.

Having said all this it’s still a good hotel and the Nastro staff, with the service they provide, their warm welcome, and their friendly Italian charm is just a credit to the hotel.

The food was great, with a mixture of a la carte and buffet, the staff you could t fault them, all so helpful and friendly, the bar by the main pool was great, you could have any drink you want and it was open all day apart from when lunch was being served,

The hotel was lovely, the staff were absolutely fantastic, extremely friendly.

The maid service was great and she was super friendly and always on hand to help.

Firstly all the staff are so friendly, especially the bar manager he is a very funny character and the restaurant manager was lovely, the Other men behind bar were always so friendly too and made great cocktails!

The gym is poor, no window, smells mouldy & the equipment is very tired/rusty in places.

Firstly food was not of my taste poor choices not warm cold deserts poor choice load of flys outside lunch eating area food not coverd up discusting after two days never bothered eating lunch and went into sorrento town to eat typical all inclusive crap food junk for the thousands we paid what a waste of money it was.

Agree with other comments, coffee in the morning was poor

-Sunbeds were in a poor state and my husbands collapsed under him.

Again finish around pool area is poor and needs some maintenance.

Mostly good poor night on our 25th Anniversary evening pool party spoiled it restaurant shut 45 minute wait for an table, dirty table no service had to call an manager over to get water alone, getting food from the self service otherside of the pool food freezing when getting back to the table not the Anniversary meal we wanted at all we paid 2000 each for this holiday.

Big notable change was the lack of good staff that understand what this hotels once was, no consistency on waiters/bar staff, never seen a bar queue so long where table service is promised….cleaning staff again not enough and definitely not the quality, poor attention to detail, not enough towels one day, no clean the next…
There a some issues with maintenance, had to fix the shower myself, the air con blows warm air and makes a horrible noise at night.

The rest of the interiors weren't much better, including our room and especially the bathroom with its dim, flickery fluorescent lighting and poor fixtures being more what I'd expect in something like an old Travelodge or American budget motel.

The food is average at lunchtime and very poor in the evenings.

but unfortunately this hotel was a very poor experience.

The only downside is that I don’t think that this resort would be suitable for people with poor mobility as there were steep gradients and lots of steps to negotiate outside.

but there are plenty of activities available, don't be put off by poor reviews - it's all what you make of it!

We also felt that the evening entertainment could be improved and more activities offered particularly as we had poor weather.

This is not a 5 due to some much needed repair and maintenance in areas, and the poor gym.

but the rest poor - the continental side was ok but the same every day no variables at all and when the bananas were gone they were gone end of.

Cocktails were poor and drinks service was only good if you was a returning regular.

but the coffee is really poor from a machine.

All of the staff at this hotel were all very polite and always welcoming, they all work very hard.

We were greeted with Prosecco on arrival and our luggage whisked to our room.

This was our 5th visit and we were welcomed by Marco and the team with a genuine warmth.

We where welcomed warmly with a glass of fizz and went straight into lunch.

Most of the staff can’t do enough for you.

Sophia our rep was brilliant knows so much and super approachable, we went on the walk around Sorrento with her it was brilliant.

Greeted by our onside Tui rep and vases taken to our rooms.

Staff were lovely, particularly the restaurant staff (and Vincenzo especially)

To reflect the majority view, the staff make this hotel, excellent customer service, right from the management, restaurant and bar staff, pool attendant, even the room cleaners are super smiley and friendly.

Also the breakfast as mentioned by someone else is the same as it was 20 years ago, I do think they need to look at what other hotels are doing as it’s poor, cereal in hideous containers that are from the 70s and you can’t get the product out of!!

The first two nights we experienced the dinner and it was very poor.

but signals for mobile phone networks were poor - this might have been my handset, but all four people in my group had problems getting mobile data, so Wi-Fi was important. Environment.

but we found them to be poor value for money this time compared to others we have been on.

The breakfasts were ordinary, with the sausages and bacon of poor quality, as was the Parma ham.

TV is poor - only news (BBC, CNN and SKY) in English.

but the TV offers a poor choice of programmes.

Hot breakfasts were fairly poor & generally consisted of streaky bacon, watery sausages and scrambled egg.

Some reviews are critical of poor internet.

The hotel still had the same high standards of cleanliness as on our first trip and thought how lovely it was that most of the staff members had remained there after a few years.I would say the only negative is that the phone signal is very poor and did prove a little problematic when trying to call homebut did not in anyway spoil our holiday.

If I had a criticism, the wifi is very poor and you spend more time trying to connect than you do connected, whereas just around the corner nearer town you have the benefit of 4G.

By nature I am very critical about poor service especially when you pay the prices a holiday in Italy costs these days.

but, despite help from the reception staff, we were unable to maintain a connection for more than a few seconds as the signal was too poor.

Toilet facilities at the former are poor.

Get the back of the hotel, and expect a poor view with potential noise.

This was very much appreciated as due to poor organisation between Thomson holidays and Naples airport we were unable to buy any food before our flight.

It is for this reason that I have marked sleep quality as poor.

All the staff take the time to make sure that you are enjoying your stay and are always happy to respond to any concerns.

Overall a great experience, thanks to all the staff who made it so, we would certainly come back if we re-visit the area.

The staff absolutely make this hotel - so accommodating and they made such a fuss of our baby so meals were smooth and we could eat while she was entertained.

We were so well looked after by Massimo and his team, especially Enzo and Francesco.

The team at the hotel made our first visit to Italy very special.

The facillities are very good, the food and staff excellent.

Although the decor is dated, the hotel is spotlessly clean and the service from all the staff is first class which made our trip just great.

The food is truly outstanding and the service of all of the staff is to be applauded.

We haven't had service this good in a long time; everyone was friendly and fun and accommodating - just to mention a few in the restaurants:  Tony, Luigi, Piero, Giovanni & everyone else.

There is also a lovely waiter who works upstairs who was so welcoming and friendly.

All other staff we encountered were so friendly and accommodating with any requests like wine glasses for our room etc so we would return for the staff alone never mind the lovely hotel!

We used the shuttle bus all the time and it was brilliant, one driver especially friendly and fun!

As usual, hotel prices for drinks and snacks were expensive (an Aperol Spritz was 12 Euro as opposed to the 6 to 8 Euro's in town)

Costs approx 40 euro in a taxi so a massive help.

Taxis on average costing €30 or €40 per trip.

We used the service quite a bit and it was well used in general as Taxi prices into town and back were quite expensive and varied hugely, up to 40 euros one way we had heard.

although running every hour we did find ourselves clock  watching and a couple of times had to get taxis which cost 25 euros.

A little more expensive than eating in town,

Due to what we had planned and how much time we were going to spend in our room, we decided not to pay the extra for the sea view room and were happy with our decision.

Don’t hesitate to book unless you like staying out late and are not prepared to pay the taxi fare.

but not between 12.30 to 15.30 which means that if you miss the 12.30 you are stuck at the hotel unless you pay a taxi for 40-50 EUR!!

My quick glance revealed a rather pricey list.

If you miss the bus don't get a taxi unless you want to pay around 30 euros for a 10 minute journey.

but be warned it does have a ' Siesta ' in the afternoon ( taxis back up the hill are expensive and the walk is exhausting !)

however I don't know if it was worth quite the price we paid.

but people did sometimes have to stand and it did put me off staying late in the town because I was worried if it got over full we’d struggle to get back or have to pay a taxi .

but tended to be populated by the smokers.

One final aside - we asked that an ironing board and iron be sent up to the room (Italian hotels don't leave them in the rooms for some reason) and what we got was DISGUSTING - see the attached picture.

but could not detect the damp reported by an earlier reviewer.

but my husband said he could still smell the damp all week.

but admitted she smelt it and said she would have a word with the management, who then put disinfectant down which was a complete waist of time.

Hotel manager will ignore your complaints and I had to take them to court for recompense

our room overlooked the car park, try and avoid these rooms otherwise you get fumes from the coach and cigaret smoke.

So be careful and you won't have nasty shock ..

I was given the worst room in the hotel , no view and located in the bowels of the car park and  just a brick wall to look at .The room was  very damp and cold due to no air circulation, after complaining i was moved to room 128 unfortunately this was not much better as it is opposite the pool cleaning station so the motors were whirring away all night.

The hot tub contained numerous dead flies and tree debris / leaves and as such could not be used.

but it smelt musty, no windows (there are rooms on this floor and other reviews have mentioned the musty smell).

We were on the third floor any floor below this is damp and cold.

Our room had a damp smell and damp patches/spots on the walls.

though in an attempt to burn off some of the wonderful food that we couldn't resist.

However, there are still some facts to be improved, such as :
- when you are 3 persons in a room, of course you need 3 keys;
- the bathroom has a strong sewage stink mainly during night time, when maybe the ventilation is stopped and you can not control it from the switch

The reception staff were very unhelpful when we complained about the smell, they did nothing.

We were rewarded with clear view of the vehicles and heard the noise when they moved and occasionally smelt their fumes.

For two of the nights we also had a strong smell of drains in our bathroom.

although the shuttle bus every hour is very efficient in getting you into town.

On the day, everything went smoothly thanks to the amazing staff at Grand Hotel President.

The moment I contacted Anna from here, in Scotland to organise our wedding, she could not have been more accommodating and helpful.

The staff were also fantastic – they could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable.

All the staff were helpful and always had a smile for you!

Entire staff was courteous and extremely willing to be helpful.

The hotel staff were professional, polite made us feel very welcome , even having to deal with a couple of very unpleasant guests (?). .

Evening meals were an absolute delight, the waiting staff were so professional, giving their expertise on wines, or choices for the meal.

My partner & I  stayed at this hotel for a two wk holiday, the hotel was fantastic, the rooms were clean & beds very comfortable, all  staff were excellent especially the dining room staff, they were all very helpful  efficient &  friendly.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, including the restaurant team, the reception team.

Cleaning staff cleaned rooms daily leaving  fresh towels, and were very friendly.

Just be careful what room you book as we ended up with small room with two single beds.

but do be careful - some rooms only have a tiny balcony.

This lead to a very hot atmosphere in the small room and we struggled to keep cool.

Got a free upgrade on arrival (some of the rooms are a bit small), and the service continued to amaze us all week.

In terms of the accommodation itself, our room was on the small size with a small balcony that we could both sit on together (just),

Our room was quite small with twin beds and only one pillow each which was extremely hard, did get another one

I booked this hotel through Jet 2 and was a little concerned before hand as had read a few reviews saying the rooms were small and no wardrobe space.I was so relieved to find our room was amazing.

We asked if a kettle and tea and coffee could be provided in our room and this was done at a small daily charge.

The only disappointment if there is one is that the room we had was very small and there was limited wardrobe space if you could call it a wardrobe.

The only criticism we had was the room was small with no wardrobe just a shelf unit with a couple of square cubby holes, no drawers so we had to keep some clothes in our suitcase the bed was only a three quarter one.

The rooms vary in quality (see other reviews), we were unlucky and got one of the small rooms.

The Caravel has some limitations, rooms are small,room balconies mostly very small, the pool area is a bit restricted in space and can be a bit noisy, it's in a leafy suburb and a decent walk to most places
