Breakfast is one of the best buffets you can find at this price, in a huge airy room that opens into a gorgeous garden.

Breakfast was also great, the staff were so great.

This review is for one person and the breakfast restaurant staff and pool team.

We enjoyed our sumptuous breakfast each morning.

The breakfast was again chaotic, similar issues to Hilton with poor understanding of the order to serve breakfast, poorly trained staff and 1 person serving who also has to carry the tray and set it up for each guest so if there is more than 2 people the wait is terrible as each guest picks food one by one which is mostly cakes.

And the walls are paper thin, so we heard the neighbors above and beside us up late, and then construction workers in the morning, resulting in a poor night sleep.

The only thing that kept this from the highest rating is that poor ventilation in our bathroom meant dripping walls and floors when anyone showered, which has also led to some visible surface mildew on the ceiling.

The only downside of the hotel (and I have found this to be common in Italy) is the poor quality of the wi-fi.

He genuinely seemed to appreciate our poor attempts at speaking Italian and caused the family to laugh out loud when he exclaimed "mama mia" upon spotting my sunburn from our trips to Pompeii and Capri!

but it is so small and the equipment so poor that’s its deeming to the user / guest and the Hotel is better off not offering it or providing a better space and equipment – one or the other.

but they were a major disappointment food choice, quality and service were poor.

The choice of English langauge TV chanels is poor and only consisted of BBC World News - given that most of the guests were either from the UK or USA I was surprised they couldn't provide a better choice.

but very poor quality, may be they over compensate.

Only negative would be that the economy room I had only had a tiny window

They have me a small room with 2 twin/single beds, and came in when I was out for dinner to connect the beds so it was like one double bed!

The food was superb never a bad meal and the wine was fantastic, the breakfast which was included in your stay was magnificent.

The negative: room smelled of smoke,  & the bed was not the most comfortable, I'm sure they would have changed my room if i requested it,  overall its good value.

Our only criticism is that people were allowed to smoke on here.

After we turned on the AC, the smell went away.

There's a musty smell to the hotel and rooms,

Somebody complained here about mouldy smell - if you are allergic to this, it´s better to avoid the inner side rooms (without view), maybe it´s due to this way of building, I didn´t find it disturbing.

We just opened the doors to the terrace when we got back to our room and this got rid of the smell.

When we entered this room we both could immediately sense the stench of mold in the room, and we declined the “better” room.

although it was a little damp down there.

Second, there was some noticeable mould around the air-vent of the bathroom.

Our room smelled like cigarette smoke so we complained to the reception and got a free upgrade to a sea view room.

However, our bathroom smelled like sewers!

Unfortunately I could not stay here again, nor would I recommend it because of the prevalent mold everywhere.

The only reason this review isn't perfect is that the curtains, bed cover and table cloths had a smell of dust and there is no room for personal belongings in the bathroom.

I forgot from my last stay that the towels are thin and not what Americans are used to,

Could most definitely do with updating, and lacking in somewhere to hang towels up in the bathroom bizarrely.

Another minor niggle was that the towels were rather thin.

The towels are awful - they are actually thin pique blankets and not real towels.

The towels were the quality of thin, cheap tablecloths!

The shower towels are also terrible so if you have your own towels it is better to use it.

As mentioned in almost every review, Maria’s hospitality is truly wonderful and her breakfast cakes are worth travelling across the world for.

While the people were lovely, the grounds a beautiful garden, and the breakfast fabulous, the location requires just over an unattractive mile walk to downtown or 25 Euro minimum taxi fare.

And the breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of delicious homemade treats.

From the courteous and helpful staff to the sumptuous buffet breakfasts and sweeping views of Sorrento and Mt.

Maria the owner is special, she wakes up at 5 AM every morning and bakes for the breakfasts.

The highlight of each morning was the delightful home-cooked breakfast, which was both delicious and comforting.

Now to mention the best bit.. Maria’s breakfast; it was quite simply delicious and full of tasty treats both sweet and savoury.

Breakfast was same everyday with a variety of cakes, quiche, tomato/mozzerella, ceral, etc.

They have the best breakfast every morning and the staff are so friendly.

The breakfasts were incredible and a highlight of every day, with fresh cakes baked every morning.

though the only down side being how dark the shortcut up the mountain was late at night.

There is a shortcut from the Villa to the main road which is a very dark lane at night so would recommend that if you don't have a smart phone make sure you pack a torch to light the way.

The last part of the walk is pretty steep and dark

Coming back after dark isn't as simple, though--there are no lights on the path, so we usually chose to taxi back, and that could be fairly expensive--20-25 Euros.

Walking up the hill road at night in the dark was a little daunting,

The immaculate and stylish breakfast room, dark wood furniture, white walls,huge picture window showing the Bay of Naples in all its glory, all enhanced the feeling of tranquility.

A steep climb is not what you want after a busy day of sightseeing, and it meant that I had to plan my day to have an early dinner before coming back to he villa, as I didn't want to walk back tioo late (the last 75m stretch of the hill is unlit and hence picth dark post-sunset,

We were moved to the Hotel Cristina down the road, the room was small, dark and located next to the restaurant and pool.

but a little dark inside (ground floor of a 3 floor building).

The drive from Naples to Sorrento in the dark was challenging without a GPS,

but the walk/road is lethal, as you climb the steep hill there is a stretch of the road that is so dark that its v. dangerous.

At night, it would be a good idea to have a flashlight, because it is very, very dark.

You may want to bring a little flashlight as their is one section that is a little dark,

Didn't sound so bad, i guess. I knew it was all going down the drain the moment he led us onto a dark and shady alley that led to our "hotel."

Be sure to bring a small flashlight for hiking up the hill after dark.

The staff are fabulous helpful friendly they can’t do enough for you we had a car hotel looked after the parking and it was no trouble to fetch it when we asked them to.

There was a wide variety of breakfast items and daily changes of the sweet desserts.

A few points of note during our stay: the room was quite small and for an 8 night stay we didn’t have much space to unpack our bags as there were only a small amount of hangers and a few drawers

The only thing I didn’t like was that the room too small and a bit dusty.

Finally -Room is very small with very small bathroom.

While the rooms were small, they were functional.

The rooms are a bit on the small side which is European standard.

The rooms themselves are very small and could use some upgrades like better pillows and new tile work in the showers.

Living in a small room for more than a few days difficult as wardrobe, mirrors and bathroom and main doors are all adjacent.

Our room had a tiny window that faced a brick wall - this meant connecting to the wifi or getting any phone signal whilst in the room was impossible , this was an issue as we run a business and needed to be able to check emails regularly .

The only slight downside (so probably a 4.5 out of 5 really) is that the rooms have thin walls so are not very quiet if you have people in rooms next door.

Only negative was the walls and doors are thin.

Also our view (as on 1st floor) was of a brick wall.

Walls are not very well sound proofed, could often hear water running.

At first, I was disappointed with our balcony room, 202, with a wall blocking half our view.

The tub side wall is 24 inches above floor and difficult to enter safely.

The only negative: The walls are a bit thin.

Unfortunately the room we were allocated was dark mainly due to the window looking out onto a large brick wall.

We had room 217 
(i think)but the view was a brick wall which was a bit disappointing.

The infinity pool has a glass wall that looks like it pours out directly to Bay of Napoli.

We had a room which looked out onto a wall which was a shame.

We had a balcony which was half covered by a wall and the view when looking out of the room was a load of weird piping.

We checked in late on the first night and given a room with a 20 foot high wall 3 feet from the window.

Breakfast, each morning was a pleasure, with plenty of selection, and made to order omelets and eggs.

Breakfasts were very good, with a pretty standard European range of hot and cold dishes plus lots of fruit, cakes (being Italy) and eggs/omelettes cooked by a chef in front of you.

For dinner the first night we ate in the garden restaurant, the food was delicious, and the staff was accommodating and helpful.

Breakfast is serve yourself in the hotel garden which was lovely.

The included breakfast was very good and the dining area amongst the lemon trees was a great way to start the day.

Breakfast in morning  outside under lemon  trees was certainly  a treat, & started the day in a positive mood .

The staff was accommodating, and the breakfast buffet was fantastic.

There is a lovely restaurant, the food is delicious and beautifully presented with buffet breakfast and table service for lunch and evening meal and there is a very pretty garden where you can eat which is perfect.

This is simply a fantastic place to stay, been several times now, rooms are lovely and clean, staff are first class , and the food is very good, we always stay 1/2 board, the restaurant is a great place to eat, and breakfast is outside under the orange trees in the garden, so nice.

Breakfast was very nice with lots of choice of fresh food while the evening meal surpassed our expectation.

Can also recommend the fine breakfast - served outside on a patio that feels like a lemon grove.

The buffet breakfast is lovely, particularly the egg bar.

Every combination of food was available as well as personally cooked eggs and omelettes.

After that, we all decided that we preferred the staff and the food at the hotel, so we went back each night to eat there, and the breakfast is fabulous!

Just spent a lovely week at Hotel De La Ville, other than choosing the wrong room, a side room facing the pool which was not what we expected, very poor view.
