however due to such a noisy room and the fact that breakfast wasn't topped up once it had ran out (even with an hour remaining), I must rate this hotel as poor.

Thought the breakfast was quite poor and rooms lacked air-conditioning, I will recommend this hotel.

Our only complaints would be the poor WIFI reception and noisiness in 1st and 3rd floor rooms (we ended up moving rooms in the middle of our stay).

Only one thing, wifi in the room was poor, so I had to go to the lobby or a breakfast room to use internet fast.

Staff was friendly and watched our suitcases while we we went hiking after checkout

The only too things that bothered us (other than bathroom quickness, see title) is a faint wooden odor, and poor sound insulation (we could hear people in the corridor, as well as our neighbors).

We tried to watch the Tennis Fed Cup video stream and after 20 minutes we were blocked due to high internet traffic.

We were put on the bottom floor next to the dining area so it was loud for us through one door and it was set up a like a railroad, you had to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to the sitting space which is weird

Another reason, other than the noise, that I wouldn't recommend this hotel, is that the buffet breakfast wasn't refilled.

Considerable Road Noise; Had to upgrade to a superior room for an extra €25, just to reduce noise levels.

At the time of our visit the Jaccuzi at the hotel did not work  and it was quiet disappointing.

Going into the details, here is how we experienced it: our room was tiny with a window and a small balcony facing the main road and on the 2nd (practicly 1st) floor; too noisy to seat and enjoy a good book or a cup of coffee on the balcony.

Natale and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and breakfast was yummy.

He told us we could not charge our phone here.

Wifi: small charge of 2 euros for our 3 day stay.

Traveled with my little dog, no charge for her.

Only downside was that the wifi had a small charge (which was per-device as well), from memory I think it was E2 for the stay.

Pity they charge a small fee for internet access

Breakfast is sufficient, one of the weakest we have come across and none has ever charged extra for a carton of yogurt!

but once keeping the balcony door closed during the first hours it keeps the disturbances out very effectively so we really do not understand what other guests have bern complaining about in previous reviews.

Because it is an old building, the walls are not insulated well to prevent noise from others.

Only con's were the breakfast room could not seat everyone at once which was odd, and our room had a locked door to the next room (I imagine it converts to a larger family room if unlocked) which didn't provide much sound proofing.

While the location in the center of town is very convenient, one night there was a bit of noise.

The street noise level was also rather high because you needed to keep the windows open and there was quite a bit of traffic noise already at 5am.

The sound proofing could have been better, as the noises from other rooms could be disturbing if people are being loud, or yelling in the hallways.

Don't ask for the balcony if you are noise sensitive, this did not bother us at all because we were up early everyday to get to the mountains anyway.

A church is close by so do expect to hear the bells ringing in the morning.

Our room was rather small, hot (no air-conditioning which was a problem during the heat wave) and had a very uncomfortable bed, not very long - which would be a problem for those over 6 foot.

I spend whole 2 weeks here at single room. First I was given a very small room with no balcony ( there was a bath which I did miss at new room ! )

The art on the walls is the owner's personal collection from over 25 years of gifts from artists who have stayed at Hotel Montana.

The walls were very thin, so we heard our neighbors comings and goings and conversations all night long (well past 3 am).

but for many of the buildings down town, examine the dolomite quarried from around town, the rock sometimes contains small fossils in the building's walls.

The linens were dirty, the toilet and bathroom were not clean (hairs) and the ceiling and walls had mold stains.

The only issue we had was the rooms were really hot (even after they turned off heater in our room), you can't adjust temperature yourself so we ended up sleeping wit windows opened

Only downside is the rooms were really hot as the heating was still on and the air conditioning wasn't working, we had to sleep with the balcony door wide open.

Also, I'm someone who likes to sleep with it very cold, and my room thermostat wouldn't go down for some reason (I just slept with the door open as it was cold outside at night).

Unfortunately the clothes dryer was out of service, so we made do with hanging our laundry on the towel heater to dry.

My only issue was I read on booking they had AC and the room didn’t.

No airco and could not leave windows open as accessible from the outside.

Room temp was not controllable and climbing at 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

although some not functioning properly- like thermostat!

but without vegetables and one day the bread was over by 9 am (while the breakfast is till 10 am).

The bread rolls were rock hard and it was very noisy in the breakfast area.

In the Netherlands we have a saying: living on water and bread.

there is no variety, especially at breakfast where is really in your face the lack of bread (only crisp toast) with a professional toasters  really wondering what it was doing there!

Enjoyed our stay, room was very clean and we had a nice Mountain View.

even though you can see already the sign of the lack of attention, example faucet not fixed at the sink, sink that does not allow water to flow.

Unfortunately this place did not have a hot water kettle in the room so guests wanting hot water have to go to the bar and trouble the waitstaff.

Room was rather hot in with the air conditioned system, so we asked for it to be turned off and opened a window at night.

Keeping the windows open hardly cools the room, and exposes you to a 5:15am sunrise and the loud sound of delivery trucks.

The smell was clearly originating at the hotels sewage system as it could be seen right below our window.

We stayed for 3 night and for two days there was construction under our window so that it was impossible to be in the room while they were working , and it was without any notice from the hotel.

One of the two windows in my room was older and didn't seal well and the latch was loose, so the wind came in around the frame.

But the windows should have mosquito nets if they expect you to do that.

However, the rooms are very small and quite old, and the walls are 'paper thin' which means you do hear noises from the room next door (light sleepers note: bring ear plugs).

but it was still noisy, must bring ear plugs.

The other party in our group, in another room, was kept awake by conversations in an adjoining room.

but you couldn't have the door open because of the noise and fumes from the traffic.

Our room was facing the road and providing the double glazed windows were closed we had a quiet night.

The street is actually pretty busy and noisy,

The only slight negative point was, the rooms facing the main road around Cortina might be a bit noisy.

If traffic noise is bothersome to you, ask for a room that doesn't face the road.

It is located on the uphill section of the one-way ring road and so traffic noise is bad, especially with trucks going down the gears.

but all noise stops when the window is closed.

We were given a room on the 3rd floor and the windows were double glazed and will shut out all the noise from traffic below.

However, because the windows are of such a high quality, it is absolutely peaceful at night for sound sleeping when the windows are closed.

You could hear most of what was happening in the next room.

Facing the front of the hotel and there is a loud bar underneath with music and literally loads of people directly outside the bedrooms drinking and socialising and often drunk and shouting in the street until 2.30pm making sleep before that impossible.

There is a live band bistro nearby so unless one only goes to bed past midnight, this is not the place for a good night sleep.

The only negative comments would be the bed was not very comfortable and the afterski parties were quite loud outside our room on the weekends.

One night, the screaming & yelling of people in the street was shockingly loud -- especially for a mid-week night (and Europeans think Americans are loud! heh-heh-heh-heh).

but the parties are plentiful on the weekends.

However one of the few nightclubs in town is underneath the hotel.

So there was traffic noise even till late.

We wouldn't stay here again due to the nighttime noise from the nearby bars that went on until very late (or early morning).

The manager stuck a new one on the wall which fell off at 4.00 am in the morning waking us up - we had just fallen asleep after the noise from the bar below had finally stopped. 4.

I didn't like the noise of some people (I think clients) at midnight infront our room.

The weak point doesn't involve this hotel directly: actually on the other side of the street there is a disco pub and during the weekend(fri/sat) I heard noises, especially  low frequencies coming from the club(from midnight till 3 a.m.) and then drun people screaming on the street.

No aircondition or it did not work and there is noise from the road/city outside if you open window.

but being woken up early in the morning is not what I think is fits a good hotel.

The fan in the bathroom screeched loudly.

but as a result, extremely noisy at night.

There is no need for a car  at this hotel in fact given that some streets are one way and that does not affect pedestrian traffic  I think a bus from Venice airport is perfect.

The hotel value for money is very good compared with others that are only slightly better located,  we found that the lack of air con was the only real downside- our room, which had a wonderful balcony at the front of the hotel, was very close to a noisy bar and the necessity to have the windows open meant that you could hear people on their way home from this lively town so earplugs were very handy!!

Other reviews have commented on the noise issue as well.

Drawbacks = no restaurant; Cristallo nightclub across the street can get noisy until 2am.

This drive had us praying a lot as oncoming traffic constantly disregards the center line and comes right at our side of the road, not to mention climbing four mountain passes, competing with multitudes of bicyclists, motorcycles, busses and logging trucks.

Bring your earplugs unless you fancy going to the club (but it's mostly closed anyway as the nightlife in this town is barely existent).

Thanks for looking after us, the service was fantastic, very friendly, the location is perfect, right in the centre of Cortina, room was always clean and very confortable.

Hotel is a basic no frills, no restaurant, good standard breakfast fare, clean room.
