I disagree with another Reviewer, the hotel staff DO replenish the buffet breakfast.

Breakfast was well stocked and good every morning.

The spa and delicious complimentary breakfasts are nice touches, too.

Natale and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and breakfast was yummy.

The free breakfast was good and just what was needed before a day of yomping up hills.

We had a superior room with two large terraces and fantastic mountain views; really cosy room and comfy bed; lovely breakfast; and the staff are wonderful, especially Stefano on the front desk.

Rooms were great, beautiful woodwork, clean, well appointed, excellent breakfast daily.

A beautiful fresh breakfast is also included every morning.

The views were fabulous, the location is great, the room was quite large (the balcony gigantic); the staff so warm, welcoming, and helpful,  a bountiful breakfast, and great parking right on site .

Breakfast was included in the room rate and was a buffet with a good range of food.

I can’t say enough good things about the buffet breakfast with meat and cheese variety, eggs, lots of pastry, yogurt and fruit salads.

however due to such a noisy room and the fact that breakfast wasn't topped up once it had ran out (even with an hour remaining), I must rate this hotel as poor.

Thought the breakfast was quite poor and rooms lacked air-conditioning, I will recommend this hotel.

Our only complaints would be the poor WIFI reception and noisiness in 1st and 3rd floor rooms (we ended up moving rooms in the middle of our stay).

Only one thing, wifi in the room was poor, so I had to go to the lobby or a breakfast room to use internet fast.

Staff was friendly and watched our suitcases while we we went hiking after checkout

The only too things that bothered us (other than bathroom quickness, see title) is a faint wooden odor, and poor sound insulation (we could hear people in the corridor, as well as our neighbors).

The breakfast was quite poor and rather tired looking.

Had I known about the continuous noise I would not have stayed.

Lots of noise every day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. except Sunday.

This made it too noisy to enjoy sitting on the balcony - that along with the noisy main road.

There is some road noise and there is currently construction ongoing around the hotel.

The only issue for us was the road noise which, of course, the hotel can do nothing about!

We tried to watch the Tennis Fed Cup video stream and after 20 minutes we were blocked due to high internet traffic.

We were put on the bottom floor next to the dining area so it was loud for us through one door and it was set up a like a railroad, you had to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to the sitting space which is weird

It's on the main road so during the day there is a bit of road noise

Another reason, other than the noise, that I wouldn't recommend this hotel, is that the buffet breakfast wasn't refilled.

Considerable Road Noise; Had to upgrade to a superior room for an extra €25, just to reduce noise levels.

Would probably not stay there again due to the traffic outside.

Can be noisy and you can clearly hear activities in nearby rooms.

At the time of our visit the Jaccuzi at the hotel did not work  and it was quiet disappointing.

Going into the details, here is how we experienced it: our room was tiny with a window and a small balcony facing the main road and on the 2nd (practicly 1st) floor; too noisy to seat and enjoy a good book or a cup of coffee on the balcony.

Could not hear what we said due to the heavy traffic on the road outside.

Yes, the street noise can be distracting.

The hotel is on a main road so there is constant car noise.. if this annoys you then you better ask for a room with mountain view and in the middle (with not sides to the main street).

It's a very well-run family hotel - very clean and comfortable, and the breakfasts were excellent.

Breakfast was good and and we especially appreciated the visible efforts to minimize the usage of single use plastic amenities and waste.

As soon as you get there, they fill you in on the process: wifi, complimentary breakfast in the morning, and a room off the lobby to store skis and other equipment.

Room was large with a great shower, breakfast was fine - cereals, croissants, ham, cheese etc.

Possible to sit on the balcony for breakfast and watch the square right in the centre of Cortina.

Delicious breakfast, really good coffee from the espresso machine and above all homemade crostata made by our charming hostess.

Hotel Montana is perfect little family managed hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff, spotlessly clean rooms, good breakfast and fantastic location.

They serve a very European style Breakfast which is included.

The breakfast were excellent and very substantial; with every choice you could possibly want to start your morning right!

For the fair price per night, Hotel Montana provides you with a great breakfast spread.

Wifi: small charge of 2 euros for our 3 day stay.

Traveled with my little dog, no charge for her.

Only downside was that the wifi had a small charge (which was per-device as well), from memory I think it was E2 for the stay.

Breakfast is sufficient, one of the weakest we have come across and none has ever charged extra for a carton of yogurt!

but once keeping the balcony door closed during the first hours it keeps the disturbances out very effectively so we really do not understand what other guests have bern complaining about in previous reviews.

Because it is an old building, the walls are not insulated well to prevent noise from others.

Only con's were the breakfast room could not seat everyone at once which was odd, and our room had a locked door to the next room (I imagine it converts to a larger family room if unlocked) which didn't provide much sound proofing.

While the location in the center of town is very convenient, one night there was a bit of noise.

The street noise level was also rather high because you needed to keep the windows open and there was quite a bit of traffic noise already at 5am.

The sound proofing could have been better, as the noises from other rooms could be disturbing if people are being loud, or yelling in the hallways.

Don't ask for the balcony if you are noise sensitive, this did not bother us at all because we were up early everyday to get to the mountains anyway.

although driving around the village is a nightmare  We stayed there out of season so it was quite quiet

A church is close by so do expect to hear the bells ringing in the morning.

To be able to wake up to the beautiful sound of the bells.

However you can hear EVERY sound from the surrounding rooms, walls are thin.

Yes, the hotel is old & the rooms are small,

Our room was rather small, hot (no air-conditioning which was a problem during the heat wave) and had a very uncomfortable bed, not very long - which would be a problem for those over 6 foot.

Brakfast room is quite small and can be crowded at times,

I spend whole 2 weeks here at single room. First I was given a very small room with no balcony ( there was a bath which I did miss at new room ! )

The room was really small and old-style-chlalet

but I was told the only rooms left were these two identical rooms sharing a wall with the lift - one of the rooms I'd been offered previously.

The art on the walls is the owner's personal collection from over 25 years of gifts from artists who have stayed at Hotel Montana.

The walls were very thin, so we heard our neighbors comings and goings and conversations all night long (well past 3 am).

but for many of the buildings down town, examine the dolomite quarried from around town, the rock sometimes contains small fossils in the building's walls.

The linens were dirty, the toilet and bathroom were not clean (hairs) and the ceiling and walls had mold stains.

The continental breakfast buffet is varied and delicious and both restaurants were great.

Breakfast everyday started with a tower of sweets (I called it carb-loading) and even one morning it may have started with a chocolate torte for my birthday!

The food at the restaurant was great and the breakfast was fast and easy.

Breakfast is ordinary something you find in any 3 star hotel..

The rooms, the mountain views, the breakfast, the spa and the service are some of the best we have ever experienced.

The spa facilities were utterly beautiful and the breakfast included a large array of choices and was served in an elegant setting.

The breakfast is excellent, loads of choice and delicious.

It's on a hill at the edge of the center of town with spectacular views from the rooms, the breakfast room and the deck for having an afternoon cocktail.

Special mention for Giovanni at the reception, Artjom at the breakfast, Diana at the reception and all the other staff are super courteous.

The all inclusive breakfast is extensive and more than we expected.

but bar & lounge a bit pricey and empty … that is the only downside.

You have to pay for parking (€20 outside, €40 inside per day).

As others have mentioned, the only thing I can fault the hotel on is the 20 euro/night parking fee for outdoor parking.

A free shuttle takes you into the town of Cortina whenever you like ( except at lunch and dinner for 45 minute break time) till 10 pm. My only gripe was the need to pay €20/day for parking ( and €40 for undercover parking!)

but there are other hotels closer to town and half the cost that are almost as nice.

Having to pay 30% deposit four months in advance, I always find this annoying

The food is overpriced and not as stellar as the rest of the experience,

The wine list - short, mostly sold out and incredibly expensive.

I felt this was quite mean for the price paid.

Certainly not at that price and not even at half the price.

though their prices are 5* Deluxe the service is grossly subpar for such place.

however make sure you save some cash for a taxi to get back as they are very expensive - less than 1km was €20!

The House keepers have stolen a very expensive crocodile belt, first day of my arrival.

one might overlook the hotel's weaker points were it not for the hugely and over-the-top expensive room rates - in short a very good option for cortina, and hopefully management is contemplating an upgrade, at least to bring hotel into the 21st century.

The breakfast was a buffet with many choices, served with coffee and a smile by Emilio.

The hotel has very good breakfast, very clean Rooms and specially very friendly and Kind hosts.

The breakfast had a broad selection of pastries including warm croissants, made to order scrambled eggs, plus typical other aspects of continental breakfasts and good cappuccinos, served 730-930.

The breakfast has great reviews on Booking and I can confirm it deserves them since it is abundant and good quality.

We were also able to have a "happy hour" with wine and cheese from the supermarket from across the street in the breakfast room.

Very convenient parking right by the entrance, lovely friendly and helpful owners and most importantly a really nice spotlessly clean room, including a balcony with stunning views, add to this a nice breakfast included in the price and it is a real winner.

We enjoyed this little hotel in Cortina d’Ampezzo, location was perfect, free parking and a delicious free breakfast.

The breakfast was sensational and the stay was great because of the outstanding care and friendliness given by our hosts.

but upon arrival we could already see all the packed breakfast for our photography group for the next morning had been all tidily laid on a table.

Especially the staff getting ready for breakfast starting at 6am.

the rooms are quaint and the breakfast was delicious/filling.

However, the rooms are very small and quite old, and the walls are 'paper thin' which means you do hear noises from the room next door (light sleepers note: bring ear plugs).

but it was still noisy, must bring ear plugs.

The other party in our group, in another room, was kept awake by conversations in an adjoining room.

but you couldn't have the door open because of the noise and fumes from the traffic.

Our room was facing the road and providing the double glazed windows were closed we had a quiet night.

Some rooms are situated towards the road which can sometimes be noisy,

The street is actually pretty busy and noisy,

The only slight negative point was, the rooms facing the main road around Cortina might be a bit noisy.

If traffic noise is bothersome to you, ask for a room that doesn't face the road.

It is located on the uphill section of the one-way ring road and so traffic noise is bad, especially with trucks going down the gears.

but all noise stops when the window is closed.

We were given a room on the 3rd floor and the windows were double glazed and will shut out all the noise from traffic below.

However, because the windows are of such a high quality, it is absolutely peaceful at night for sound sleeping when the windows are closed.

You could hear most of what was happening in the next room.

Complaints: noise from other rooms, heater for ski boots is not working, wireless is free

The street outside is noisy, the beds are not great

However, what they neglected to tell us was that in the back there was construction going on which was very noisy

but no traffic noise was noted in the room.

My room had a small balcony overlooking the upward-sloping road and it was so small that the desk was not enough for me to use my small notebook computer to comfortably organise the photos I had taken during the day.

We awoke each morning to the smell of freshly baked croissants!

Our stay at the Hotel de la Poste was an enjoyable, wholesome and relaxing experience in itself, due to the incredible physical facilities, from the stunning views, the double room doors assuring quiet from the corridor, the luxurious and pampering bathroom facilities, to the kind and helpful staff, the wonderful kitchen with the sumptuous breakfast and delightful dinners (we chose half board), the "old world charm", the exquisite decor and exceptional location in the town.

Wonderful large rooms, great restaurant and large breakfast room in a grand ballroom.

I felt that the breakfast buffet needs serious improvement.

Service was exceptional with amazing breakfasts to start the day included.

The breakfast choice and quality was excellent.

They have good breakfast and if you like a bathtub they have bubbles in it.

Hotel de la Poste in Cortina d'Ampezzo has outstanding service, a wonderful buffet breakfast and a very knowledgeable and helpful concierge.

but heavy  traffic winds its way around this oasis.

We had to go to other places to enjoy a "digestivo" after dinner in a quiet environment.. And that loud music sometimes can be heard from the guestrooms.

Extremely noisy due to thumping music from 4 pm.

My room had a narrow balcony made from wood which seemed a bit creaky and you wouldn’t want to lean too hard on the balcony rail.

The one downside was noise from the street.

The city-side of the hotel can get a bit noisy at night, the furniture is somewhat old (but functional) we had no practical shower,

but the side glass wasn't really sealed and i almost floaded the bath, but house keeping put it back in shape without even mentioning.

you have a room at the front of the building it can be a bit noisy with party revellers.

The only negative was the continued noise(3 years now) during the daylight hours from construction of a building across the street.

but a little noisy as we could hear the TV in the room next to ours.
